Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Holland was born in Memphis and served in the Army during World War II. He was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone and was a Protestant. He was a member of American Legion and Panhandle Pickin' Times Club. He married Joyce Allen in 1968 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Brenda Johnson of Terrell and Lesia Candell of Amarillo; a son, Ralph Holland of Pottsboro; two stepdaughters, Linda Zubia of Amarillo and Wanda Taylor of Memphis; two stepsons, Joe Sweet of Amarillo and Jerold Sweet of Galt, Calif.; a brother, Otis Holland of Hedley; four sisters, Am Smith of Oregon, Can Ellis of Clarendon, Betty Stone of Amarillo and Rita Riley of California; 17 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Orvall Allen Reep Orvall Allen Reep, 80, of Amarillo, died Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Greenwood Cemetery, Newton, Kan. He served in the Navy as a seabee and was employed as a tool and die maker. In Burrton, Kan., he was a member of the Methodist Church and Masonic Blue Lodge. In 1992, he moved to Amarillo from Wichita, Kan. He married Jimmie Haynes in 1974 at Hutchinson, Kan. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Vivian Woods Reep, in 1973. William Trask Sr. William "Bill" Trask Sr., 68, of Amarillo, died Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in N.S. Mr. Trask was born in Ramona, Okla. He served in the Korean War and retired from the Air Force. In 1971, he moved to Amarillo from Denver. In 1980, Mr. Trask retired as a driver for Purolator Armored Inc. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Pampa and a Baptist. He married Yvonne Bell in 1975. She died in 1996. He also was preceded in death by a son, Victor Trask, and a daughter, Karen Trask. She made a living by caring for older people in their homes. She returned to McKinney in 1947, moved to Shamrock in 1975 and moved to Amarillo in 1986. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She married Aymett Downs in 1916. He died in 1946. Betty Watley Betty Watley, 70, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 1999. A private burial will be in Houston National Cemetery by the funeral home. Mr. Echols was born in Lubbock and grew up in Amarillo. He graduated from Palo Duro High School and attended the University of Texas at El Paso on a basketball scholarship, graduating in 1969. He was a veteran of the Army and served in the Vietnam War. He was employed in the insurance business for over 25 years. He was a member of Westminster United Methodist Church in Houston. He served in the National Guard for 12 years. He was preceded in death by a son, Terry Lynn Owens, in 1985. He married Karen Vessels in 1959. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery. Mrs. Collie was born in Hess, Okla., and lived in McLean for most of her life. She owned and operated 20 Trees Motor Court and later owned the laundry in McLean. Muffet Sims Merrell CLARENDON - Muffet Sims Merrell, 97, of Overland Park, Kan., died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1999. Private services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Robertson Funeral Directors Chapel of Memories in Clarendon. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery. The surviving member of the pioneer family who helped establish Clarendon, Mrs. Merrell was born and raised there. She attended Kidd Key College and became a music instructor. In 1968, she moved to Kansas City, Kan., and was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. Mrs. Merrell published writings after studies in professional writing at Texas Tech University, University of Oklahoma, University of Kansas and Instituto Allende in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, where she spent many winters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louie B. Merrell, in 1953. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Leon A. Triggs Jr.; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a greatgreat-grandchild. Tracy James Grand DIMMITT - Tracy James Grand, 19, died Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Howard Rhodes, pastor, the Rev. Randy Gressett, youth minister, and the Rev. Rusty Dickerson, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park in Dimmitt by Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home. Mr. Grand was born and raised in Dimmitt. In 1997, he graduated from Dimmitt High School where he served as FHA regional officer, peer assisted leadership, student council member and BPA officer. He was named Best All Around as a senior, to the National Honor Society and received the American Legion award. Mr. Grand received the Beta Zeta Upsilon Scholarship, Cerestar USA Dimmitt Inc., Scholarship, Methodist Church Scholarship, academic award and West Texas A&M University Residence Hall Scholarship. Mr. Grand was an athletic trainer at Dimmitt High School, for summer athletic programs at WTAMU and a referee for intramural sports. He was a sophomore at WTAMU and a member of First Baptist Church. He was a retired carpenter, a member of Carpenters and Joiners of America Local Union No. 665 for 50 years, and a member of Ground Avenue Baptist Church. He married Gertha Johnson in 1930. She died in 1994. Survivors include three sons, Ted Cochran and Robert Cochran, both of Amarillo and David Cochran of Hereford; three daughters, Joyce Adair, Frances Beery and Veda Noel, all of Amarillo; a sister, Ida Mae Cagle of Altus, Okla; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Childress Cemetery with the Rev. Johnny Robertson, pastor of First Methodist, officiating. Mr. Morton was born in Levelland and pastored Central Christian Church from 1971 until 1973. He went into construction in Childress prior to moving to Abilene in 1990. He was employed by Lowe's Home Improvement Store. He married Frances Ann Cates in 1975. She died in 1997. Survivors include two daughters, Rebbeca Pleming of Amarillo and Johnna Barrentine of Shallowater; three stepchildren, Clifford Ted Cates of Amarillo, Kelvin Cates of Louisiana and Carol Jones of Hereford; his mother, Auvena of Levelland; two sisters, Betty Basye of Levelland and Edith Watson of Leander; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Oklahoma Humberto Isidoro Chacon BEAVER, Okla. - Humberto Isidoro Chacon, 14, died Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Forgan High School with Terry Fox officiating. Burial will be in Pioneer Cemetery in Beaver by Clark Funeral Service. Mr. Chacon was born in Chihuahua, Mexico, and had been a resident of Beaver County for 10 years. A seventh-grader in the Forgan schools, he played sports and was a member of the Baptist Church and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Survivors include his parents, Angie Marie Chacon of Forgan and Oscar Chacon of Chihuahua; a brother, Orlando Chacon of Forgan; and a sister, Star Chacon of Forgan. The family suggests memorials be to Humberto Chacon Trust Fund. Luz Teresa Hernandez GUYMON, Okla. - Luz Teresa Hernandez, 24, died Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in St. Peter's Catholic Church in Guymon. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Monday in St. Peter's Catholic Church with the Rev. Scott Adams officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery by Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home. Miss Hernandez was born in Los Angeles where she graduated from high school. She moved to Guymon in 1992. She was employed by Seaboard Farms of Guymon and was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. Survivors include her parents, Jose Martin and Socorro Hernandez of Guymon; a son, Daniel of the home; a daughter, Bianca Cristina Hernandez of the home; three brothers, Martin and Jose D. Jesus Hernandez, both of Guymon, and Guadalupe of Los Angeles; and three sisters, Rosa Garcia, Trina Morales and Delia Hernandez, all of Guymon. New Mexico Howard M. White TUCUMCARI, N.M. - Howard M. "Whitey" White, 84, died Friday, Jan. 8, 1999. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Tucumcari Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Sawyer, pastor of Center Street United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Dunn Funeral Home of Tucumcari. Mr. White was born in Willard, N.M. and had been a resident of Tucumcari since 1947. He was employed by Tucumcari Motors as an automobile mechanic. He was a sergeant in the Army and a veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Marguerite; a daughter, Theresa Goldston of Tucumcari; two sons, Richard S. Gipson of Carlsbad, N.M. and Martin L. White; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. The body will be available for viewing at the funeral home from noon Saturday until prior to graveside services. Ruthie G. Lindley TEXICO, N.M. - Ruthie G. Lindley, 59, died Thursday, Jan. 7, 1999. Mrs. Lindley was born in Naples, Texas and was a school bus driver for the Texico Public Schools. She was co-founder of New Light Baptist Church in Farwell, past president of Women's Auxiliary of Jerusalem District Associates, former church president, clerk, mission auxiliary teacher, deaconess and NBC director. Survivors include three sons, Curtis Lindley of Denver, Colo., Barry Lindley and Kelly Lindley, both of Texico; a daughter, Sharon Askew of Texico; six brothers, Lindell John Betts of Clovis, N.M., Vernon Bland of Columbus, Ga., Lawrence Bryant, Drake Bryant and Wilbur Bryant of Dallas, Texas and Johnny Bland of Denver; five sisters, Willie Faye Reece of Tucson, Ariz., Dianne Gail Brown, Arnetta Bagsby and Pat Lindsey of Dallas, and Linda Young of Denver; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Elsewhere Allen A. Helton SAN ANTONIO - Allen A. Helton, 84, died Monday, Jan. 4, 1999. Services were at 2 p.m. Thursday in Brookehill Funeral Chapel in San Antonio. Additional services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Metcalf Funeral Home at Lincoln, Neb. with the Rev. John P. Smeltzer officiating. Burial, with full military honors by Offutt Air Force Base Honor Guard, was in Wyuka Cemetery by Metcalf Funeral Home. Mr. Helton was born in Clay County, Texas. He was a veteran of both World War II and of the Korean War. He retired from the Air Force after 26 years of service. Survivors include his wife, Betty; three sons, Andy Helton of Waco, Texas, David Helton of San Antonio and Paul Helton of Bates City, Mo.; a daughter, Kathleen Lange of Moore, Texas; a brother, Carroll Helton of Borger, Texas; a sister, Nettie Fields of Groom, Texas; and four grandchildren. Leonard Eulan Sheets TEXLINE - Leonard Eulan Sheets, 79, died Friday, Jan. 8, 1999 in Dumas. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Texline Church of Christ with Fred Selby, minister, and Art Lynch, minister of First Street Church of Christ in Dumas, officiating. Burial will be in Texline Cemetery by Hass Funeral Home of Dalhart. Mr. Sheets was born in Campo, Colo. where he attended school, graduating from Campo High School in 1937. In 1938 he moved to Texline and began working on the R.C. Johnson Ranch. In 1941 he joined the Army Air Corp, and in 1946, he returned to Texline. Mr. Sheets served as Dallam County Commissioner for 32 years and was honored by the Bi-County Commissioner's Court in 1998. He was a member of the Farmers Union, Texline VFW, Texas Association of County Commissioners, and was a lifelong member of the Texline Church of Christ. He married Brooksie Matthews in 1948. She died in 1997. Survivors include two sons, David Sheets of Guymon, Okla. and Len Sheets of Dumas; a brother, Bill Sheets of Texline; five sisters, Esther Misner of Amarillo, Fern Field of Dalhart, Emma Belle Short of Lubbock, and Caroline Hall and Lenola Rolan, both of Raton, N.M.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
