Walters OLTON - Travis F. Walters, 62, died Tuesday, June 8, 1999, at Lubbock. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Olton Cemetery with the Rev. Wendell Horn, pastor of First United Methodist Church at Floydada, officiating. Arrangements are by Foskey-LilleyMcGill Funeral Home. Mr. Walters was born in Bronte and raised in the Spade and Hart area. He moved to Olton in 1956 where he farmed. He married Janice Stueart in 1955 at Littlefield. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Jim Walters of Happy, Sam Walters of Olton and Marty Walters of Halfway; a sister, Dot Earl; and 10 grandchildren. Lewis D. Wright WHEELER - Lewis D. Wright, 88, died Wednesday, June 9, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Rob Lindley, pastor, officiating. Private burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home of Wheeler. Mr. Wright was born in Anson. He lived in Colorado City until moving to Abilene in 1954. Until his retirement in 1973, he was employed by Manly Pontiac and Kiker-Warren Funeral Home in Abilene. In 1973, Mr. Wright moved to Wheeler where he was associated with his son and grandsons in Wright Funeral Home. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a former member of the Masonic Lodge, Order of Eastern Star, Wheeler Kiwanis Club and Wheeler Senior Citizens. He married Inez Cox in 1933 at Anson. Survivors include his wife; a son, Jim Wright of Wheeler; two sisters, Aline Cox of Amarillo and Winnie Scifres of Abilene; three grandsons; and six great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to First United Methodist Church or Wheeler Cemetery Association. Jennifer Cavazos PERRYTON - Jennifer Cavazos, 17, died Tuesday, June 8, 1999. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Canaan Christian Church with the Rev. Sergio Vaquera officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton. Ms. Cavazos was born in Sweetwater and lived in Wheeler before moving to Perryton 11 years ago. She attended Perryton schools and was a member of the Pentecostal Church of Perryton. Survivors include her daughter, Julia Elizabeth Cavazos of Perryton; her mother and stepfather, Isabel Cavazos and Oscar Picasso, both of Perryton; a sister, Josie Cavazos Raissez of Lockney; and a brother, Raul Cavazos of Perryton. Viewing will be at Canaan Christian Church at Fourth and Colgate. Tom Brownlee BORGER - Tom Brownlee, 50, died Tuesday, June 8, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Gregg Simmons, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Graveside services by Top O'Texas Masonic Lodge of Pampa will be in the Garden of Serenity in Westlawn Memorial Park by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Mr. Brownlee was born in Borger where he was a lifetime resident. A Navy veteran, he served with the Seabees in Vietnam. He was an electrician for Rice Construction Co., and a member of First Baptist Church. Mr. Brownlee was a Scout master, Wood Badger and a member of the Pampa Masonic Lodge and Lubbock Scottish Rite. A previous employee of Southwestern Public Service, he owned and operated Brownlee Electric before selling the business to Rice Construction. He married Glenda Cox in 1987 at Las Vegas. Survivors include his wife; a son, Brian Brownlee of Borger; two stepsons, Len Reeves of Borger and Skyler Reeves of the Marine Corps in Okinawa; a daughter, Tracey Frizzell of Borger; his parents, Bill and June Brownlee of Borger; two brothers, John Brownlee of Borger and Fred Brownlee of Amarillo; and eight grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Hospice of the Panhandle, 300 S. McGee, Borger. Lillian Calk Shupe MATADOR - Lillian Calk Shupe, 88, of Greeley, Colo., died Sunday, June 5, 1999. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in East Mound Cemetery in Matador with the Rev. Monte Wike, pastor of First Methodist Church of Matador, officiating. Arrangements are by Seigler Funeral Home of Matador. Mrs. Shupe was born in Ellis County and moved to Motley County as a child. For many years, she worked as a licensed vocational nurse then graduated from Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science in 1962. She retired as funeral director for Lamar and Smith Funeral Directors of Dallas. In 1979, Mrs. Shupe moved to Greeley where she was a member of Greeley Wesleyan Church. She married Glen Shupe in 1981 at Greeley. Survivors include a son, Ronnie Steen of Granbury; two daughters, June Cunningham of Lubbock and Mickie Hillman of Greeley; eight grandchildren; 10 greatgrandchildren; and eight great-greatgrandchildren. Linda Gregg PLAINVIEW - Linda Gregg, 50, died Tuesday, June 8, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with Dr. Max Browning, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview. Mrs. Gregg was born in Lockney where she attended school until 1963. She moved to Plainview and graduated from Plainview High School in 1967. Mrs. Gregg attended Wayland Baptist University. In 1991, she moved to Wichita, Kan., then returned to Plainview in 1998. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and Plainview ParentsTeachers Association. She married Joe Fred Gregg in 1984 at Plainview. Survivors include her husband; her mother, Louise Hodel of Plainview; and a brother, Johnny Hodel of Lubbock. The family suggests memorials be to Joe Arrington Cancer Center, 4101 22nd Place, Lubbock, TX. Amarillo Hobart Cody Yandell Hobart Cody Yandell, 81, of Amarillo, died Monday, June 7, 1999. Cremation was handled by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. He was one of 11 children born to Samuel and Emley Yandell. Mr. Yandell was born in Atoka County, Okla. He retired from Amarillo Hardware. Survivors include two sisters, Audra Tisdale of Decatur and Nola Moore of Lelia Lake; and several nieces and nephews. The body will not be available for viewing. Lila Faye King Lila Faye King, 83, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, June 8, 1999. Private family services will be at the King family ranch in New Mexico. Cremation arrangements were handled by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. King was born in Boise City, Okla., where she graduated from high school in 1935. She worked in the county clerks office until she moved to Albuquerque, N.M., in 1942 with her husband. In 1997, they moved to Amarillo. Mrs. King and her husband owned and operated Mesa Tractor Co. for many years. She was a member of Unity Church and served as the Sunday school superintendent and a teacher for 20 years. She was a member of the National Old Time Fiddlers Association. She married Ralph King in 1936 at Boise City. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Esther Barnett; two grandchildren; and five great-granddaughters. The family requests memorials be to Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice and Life Enrichment Center, Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79176-0001. Elsewhere Juan R. Ramos Sr. SNYDER - Juan R. Ramos, 62, died Tuesday, June 8, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Our Lady of Guadalupe with the Rev. Joseph Vazhupadickal officiating. Burial will be in Snyder Cemetery by Wright Colonial Funeral Home Inc. Mr. Ramos was born in Anson. He worked for Santa Fe Railway for many years and also was a retired oilfield worker for Jacks Road Boring and Pipeline Co. He was preceded in death by his first wife, San Juana Gaona Ramos, in 1977. He and his wife, Alejandra Sosa, had been together 11 years. Survivors include a son, Juan G. Ramos Jr. of Snyder; a daughter, Rosie Ramos-Sanders of Amarillo; and two sisters, Maria Ramos of Snyder and Lorenza Ramos of Midland. Marion L. Tomme TYLER - Marion L. Tomme, 93, died Monday, June 7, 1999. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Tyler Christian Church with Bill Gible, minister, officiating. Burial with Masonic rites will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Plainview Cemetery in Plainview by Chandler Memorial Funeral Home of Chandler. Mr. Tomme was born in Kingsland, Ark., and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He served in the Seabees. Mr. Tomme was a retired mechanic for Ford Motor Co., and retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He also was a parts house owner and member of Tyler Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Hurlbut Tomme. Survivors include a son, Mike Tomme of Terrell; and three grandchildren.
