Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Freeman was born in Memphis. Her husband, Buzz Freeman, died in 1973. Survivors include two sons, David Freeman of Amarillo and Paul Freeman of Mesquite; two sisters, Ollie L. Rockett of Amarillo and Alene Shaw of Canyon; and four grandchildren. Carol Hewett Carol Hewett, 72, of Amarillo, died Friday, May 7, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel with Dr. Paul Richardson, pastor, and the Rev. Rick Harrison officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Hewett was born in Seymour and moved to Amarillo in 1995 from Hesperia, Calif. She was a homemaker and a member of Rockwell Road Baptist Church. She married C.E. Hewett in 1943. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Kim Clark of Amarillo; a son, Danny Hewett of Amarillo; a sister, Lottie Hill of Amarillo; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Florene Schoonover Blackwell Florene Schoonover Blackwell, 80, of Amarillo, died Saturday, May 8, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Golden Plains Church of Christ with the Rev. Paul R. Camp officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mrs. Blackwell was born in Dozier and moved to Amarillo in 1940 from Shamrock. She was a homemaker and a member of Golden Plains Church of Christ. She married Glenn Blackwell in 1937 at Erik, Okla. He died in 1987. Survivors include a son, Frank Blackwell of Amarillo; a daughter, Warretta Moore of Amarillo; a brother, E.P. Schoonover of Brawley, Calif.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to High Plains Children's Home of Amarillo. Fern Anglin Fern Anglin, 63, of Amarillo, died Sunday, May 9, 1999. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Llano Cemetery with La Von Thompson, pastor of Life of Praise Fellowship, officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Miss Anglin was born in Mangum, Okla., and had lived in Amarillo all her life. She worked as a clerk for Loves and the Flying J truck stops for many years. She was a member of Life of Praise Fellowship Church. Survivors include her parents, Jake and Modell Brown of Lake Meredith; four sisters, Glenda Salvo of Fort Worth, Nora Parsons of East Alton, Ill., Rita Williams and Cindy Brown, both of Amarillo; three brothers, Jim Gable and Ken Brown, both of Amarillo and Dennis Brown of El Paso. The family will be at 2107 S. Pierce and suggests memorials, in lieu of flowers, be to Olivia's Angels, c/o Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice and Life Enrichment Center. William Arden William "Dudley" Arden, 91, of Amarillo, died Saturday, May 8, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in St. Paul United Methodist Church with Dr. J. Weldon Butler, the Rev. John McClean and Dr. Norman Grigsby officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Arden was born in Seymour, graduated from Seymour High and attended McMurry University in Abilene. He lived in Amarillo for most of his life and was a charter member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. He worked for M-System Grocery and later, for Furr's. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a clerk. Survivors include a brother, Wilson Arden of Amarillo; and two sisters, Camille Arden and Alice Ruth Parcell, both of Amarillo. New Mexico Velma Washington Eubank CLOVIS, N.M. - Velma Washington Eubank, 89, died Friday, May 7, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in The Chapel with the Rev. Ron Eggleton officiating. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Memorial Garden by Muffley Funeral Home. Mrs. Eubank was born in El Paso and moved to Clovis, graduating from Clovis High in 1928. She was one of the first volunteers for the Senior Citizens Meal site in Clovis, was active in the Democratic Party and was a member of Central Christian Church. In 1930, she married Ross Eubank. He preceded her in death. Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Haroldson of Dallas and Sonya Pizzitola of Houston; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Oklahoma Daisy Marie Sappenfield Allison BOISE CITY, Okla. - Daisy Marie Sappenfield Allison, 90, a former resident of Amarillo, died Saturday, May 8, 1999. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church, Boise City, with Johnie Knight and John Henley officiating. Burial will be in Kenton Cemetery, Kenton, Okla., by Cimarron Mortuary. Mrs. Allison was born near Dewey, Okla., and spent her childhood in Springfield, Colo., where she graduated from high school in 1928. In 1943, she moved from the Kenton, Okla., area to Boise City, where she was a Sunday school teacher, a choir member and superintendent of Vacation Bible School at the First Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Boise City Music Club. After living for several years in Sherman, Okla., she moved to Amarillo, where she published several books of poetry and her autobiography. She ministered in various nursing homes and was a member of Bell Avenue Church of Christ, Panhandle Pen Women, Federated Women's Club, MacDowell Music Club, Philharmonic Music Club and Thrifty Dozen Sewing Club. She married Ora Ottis Sappenfield in 1930. He died in 1959. She was also preceded in death by a daughter and a grandchild, both in infancy. In 1962, she married George N. Allison and in 1997, they moved to Cimarron Nursing Home. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Ora Marie Hanes of the Keyes, Okla. area, Donna Ottinger of Boise City and Beverly Harvey of La Junta, Colo.; a stepdaughter, Virginia Roksandich of Amarillo; nine grandchildren; a stepgrandchild; 19 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. The family suggests memorials be to High Plains Children's Home in Amarillo, or to Kenton Cemetery. Memorials may be left with the funeral home. Keith Cochran BEAVER, Okla. - Keith Cochran, 66, died Saturday, May 8, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Beaver First Christian Church with Roger Neff officiating. Burial will be in Pioneer Cemetery by Clark Funeral Service. Mr. Cochran was born in Cimarron, Kan., was a high school graduate and had been a cowboy all of his life. He served in the Army, was a Mason and a member of the Pioneer Park Golf Association and First Christian Church for over 55 years. He married Waunita Mae Clark in 1952 at Haviland, Kan. Survivors include his wife; a son, Tommy Cochran of League City; a daughter, Billie Beaudrie of Fritch; his mother, Fern Cochran of Beaver; and a grandchild. Elsewhere Dr. Nineveth H. Franklin Sr. DALLAS - Dr. Nineveth H. Franklin Sr., 70, died Wednesday, May 5, 1999. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in St. James A.M.E. Temple, Dallas, with the Rev. J.N.O. Deleon Walker, elder of the greater Fort Worth district, officiating, and the Rev. Charles Franklin assisting. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery in Dallas. Arrangements are by Brock's South Plains Funeral Directors of Lubbock. Local arrangements are by Lott's Mortuary of Dallas. Dr. Franklin was born in Dallas and served in the military for 20 years. For 50 years, he served in the ministry and was pastor of the following churches: Payne Chapel A.M.E. Church in Colorado, Johnson Chapel in Odessa, Visitors Chapel in El Paso, Bethel in Abilene, Johnson Chapel in Amarillo, Baker Chapel in Big Spring, Greater Ball Tabernacle in San Antonio, St. James in Weber and Bethel A.M.E. in Lubbock. He retired in 1998. Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Franklin; five sons, the Revs. Charles Franklin of Lancaster and Kenneth R. Franklin of Hillsboro and James Franklin, Nineveth H. Franklin Jr. and Timothy C. Franklin, all of Dallas; three daughters, Sandra M. Franklin and Elaine Williams, both of Dallas, and Jessica J. Thompson of Arlington; his mother, Eula Wesley; and 16 grandchildren. Carolyn Smith Johnson GARLAND - Carolyn Smith Johnson, 50, died Sunday, May 9, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Sparkman Funeral Home Chapel at Richardson. Mrs. Johnson was born in Amarillo. Survivors include a daughter, Kimberly Sabatini; a son, Kevin Johnson; former husband, W. Bryant Johnson; a sister, Janet Smith White; her mother, Ardelle Smith Elliott; and a grandchild. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Dorothy Faye McClendon COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Dorothy Faye McClendon, 79, a native of Amarillo, died Saturday, May 8, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Wilson United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery by Swan-Law Funeral Directors in Colorado Springs. Mrs. McClendon was born in Amarillo and had lived in Colorado Springs since 1982. She was a homemaker. She married Brummett McClendon in 1939. Survivors include two sons, Brummett Jerald McClendon and Larry Richard McClendon; a sister, Phyllis Brady; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Sharon Lynn LoPresti SAN ANTONIO - Sharon Lynn LoPresti, 55, former Amarillo resident, died Saturday, May 8, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with James Henke officiating. Burial will be in Mentor Cemetery in Mentor, Ohio. Arrangements are by Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. While living in Amarillo, Mrs. LoPresti was a hospice volunteer and a member of the Women's Auxiliary at St. Mary's Catholic Church. In San Antonio, she was a communion member at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and volunteered in the Teenage Parenting Rockers of Leon Valley. Survivors include her husband, James M. LoPresti of California; and a brother, Bill Robertson of Mentor, Ohio. Visitation will be from 5 until 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Area A.Y. Proffitt CHILDRESS - A.Y. Proffitt, 91, died Sunday, May 9, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Fairview Church of Christ with Mike Suiter of San Jacinto Church of Christ of Amarillo and Robert Carter officiating. Burial will be in Kirkland Cemetery by Johnson Funeral Home. Mr. Proffitt was born in Itasca, and lived in the Kirkland area before moving to Childress 41 years ago. He was a member of the Fairview Church of Christ, and past deacon of Kirkland and Fairview Church of Christ. He married Leona Spurlock in 1929 at Paducah. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Debra Czewski Stamford, in 1997. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Richard Proffitt, Robert Proffitt and Wayne Proffitt, all of Childress; three daughters, Anita Harris of Carlsbad, N.M., Barbara Williams of Childress and Judy Czewski of Amarillo; a sister, Onie Baxley of Slayton; 13 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Childress Hospice. Dorthy Foster DUMAS - Dorthy Foster, 83, died Saturday, May 8, 1999. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Sevier Funeral Home Chapel in Chickasha, Okla. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Chickasha by Sevier Funeral Directors. Local arrangements will be by Morrison Funeral Directors of Dumas. Mrs. Foster was born in Okemah, Okla., was a longtime resident of Chickasha and moved to Dumas in 1949. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Lloyd Foster, died in February 1999. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Ruby Shillings, in 1992. Survivors include a son, Jerry Tilley of Borger; five grandchildren; 10 greatgrandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Holmes Posey MEMPHIS - Holmes Posey, 73, died Saturday, May 8, 1999. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Memphis Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jack Wolf and Neely Landrum officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Mr. Posey was born in Memphis and had been a resident all of his life. He was a Mead Bread distributor. He married Floy Gerlach in 1948 at Abilene. Survivors include his wife.
