Huckert HEREFORD - Anton F. "Tony" Huckert, 83, died Monday, Aug. 9, 1999. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in St. Anthony's Cemetery with Deacon Jonny Cloud of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and Doris Huckert, chaplain of Hereford Care Center, officiating. Arrangements are by Gililland-Watson Funeral Home of Hereford. Mr. Huckert was born in Akron, Ohio, and moved to Texas in 1948 from Alpena, S.D. He moved to Deaf Smith County in 1950 from Castro County. He was a World War II veteran of the Army, a farmer and member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Survivors include a brother, Harold M. Huckert of Manhattan, Mont.; and two nephews. Trinidad Sanchez DIMMITT - Trinidad Sanchez, 79, died Monday, Aug. 9, 1999, at Lubbock. Prayer vigil will be at 7 p.m. today in Foskey-Lilley McGill Funeral Home Ivey Chapel. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Immaculate Conception Church with the Rev. Fern Couture officiating. Burial will be in Castro Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Sanchez was born in Rio Grande, and moved to Dimmitt in 1963 from Childress. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and was a homemaker. She married Primitivo Sanchez in 1941 in Cameron County. He died in 1981. Survivors include a daughter, Maria Guzman of Dimmitt; five sons, Doroteo Sanchez and Primitivo Sanchez Jr., both of Dimmitt, Sylviano Sanchez of Fayetteville, N.C., Reynaldo Sanchez of Hereford and David Sanchez of Amarillo; a sister of Raymondville; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Delmar Otis Nace PAMPA - Delmar Otis Nace, 83, died Monday, Aug. 9, 1999. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today in the First United Methodist Church Chapel with the Rev. Todd Dyess, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. The body was donated to Texas Tech University School of Medicine and will not be available for viewing. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Nace was born in Towanda, Kan., and moved to Pampa in 1951 from Towanda. He was a chartered life underwriter for New York Life Insurance for 33 years, retiring in 1997. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a member and former president of the WinSome Sunday School Class. Mr. Nace was a past Patron of Pampa Chapter 65 Order of the Order of Eastern Star and a member for more than 50 years. He was a 50-year member of the Mystic Masonic Lodge Post 74 at Augusta, Kan. He also was a past president of the Amarillo Chapter of the American Society of Chartered Life Underwriters, past president and secretary of the Top O' Texas Association of Life Underwriters, and a past president of the Pampa Rotary Club and held a Paul Harris Fellowship. He was a past president of the Knife and Fork Club and a former president and treasurer of the Pampa Civic Ballet. Mr. Nace was a Navy veteran, serving as a chief petty officer in the submarine services in Australia during World War II. He married Evelyn Pierce in 1937 at Minneapolis, Kan. She died in 1983. He married Mary Irvin in 1983 at Pampa. Survivors include his wife; a stepdaughter, Melanie Clancy of Pampa; a stepson, David Irvin of Pampa; and five step grandchildren. Arrangements are by Memphis Funeral Home. Mr. Watson was born in Hall County and served in the Navy during World War II. He was a gin superintendent and a member of the Church of Christ. He married Murlie Lavelle Queary in 1946 at Memphis. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sue Ferrel and Janie Hughs, both of Memphis; a son, Gary Watson of Orangeburg, S.C.; a brother, B.P. Watson of Lakeview; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Betty Irene Young MEMPHIS - Betty Irene Young, 62, died Sunday, Aug. 8, 1999. A native of Ada, Okla., Mr. Foster was a 50-year resident of Borger. He was a pipefitter for Phillips 66 Co., a member of Adobe Walls Masonic Lodge No. 1355 and a Baptist. He married Viola Cowan in 1931 at Brady. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Charles G. Foster of Oak Harbor, Wash., and Norman F. Foster of Amarillo; two daughters, Delores Butin of Azle and Laverne Ricketts of San Antonio; two brothers, Hollis Foster of Zachary, La., and Glenn Foster of Des Moines, Iowa; a sister, Margie Krause of Marble Falls; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Stinnett by Brown Funeral Directors of Borger. Mr. Fogle was a native of Alvarado and a Hutchinson County resident for 55 years. A retired carpenter for Phillips Service Department, he was a member of First Baptist Church of Stinnett. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lygia Ellen Fogle, in 1974. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Nan Harnisch of Rosamond, Calif.; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. The family will be at 404 Allen in Stinnett. Amarillo Elisabeth M. Fenstermacher VEGA - Elisabeth M. Fenstermacher, 57, died Sunday, Aug. 8, 1999, in Amarillo. No services are planned. Arrangements were by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St., of Amarillo. Mrs. Fenstermacher was born in Kaiserslautern, Germany, and moved to the United States in 1960 and to Vega in 1966. She became a naturalized citizen Feb. 6, 1978. She worked in the U.S. Post Office in Vega and for five years in the Adrian office. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at Vega. She married Norman Fenstermacher in 1966 at Fayetteville, N.C. Survivors include her husband; her mother, Ida Freytag of Maurlautern, Germany; and a sister, Winnie of Maurlautern. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Llano Mausoleum Chapel. Entombment will be in Llano Mausoleum by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia. Mr. Wyant was born in Orlando, Okla. He attended Oklahoma A&M University in 1948. He was a founder of Wagner and Wyant Drilling Co., a company engaged in gas and oil production, later selling to Leonard Hudson Drilling Co. of Pampa. In 1958, he moved to Jay, Okla., and engaged in the cattle and ranching business. He returned to Amarillo in 1981. He married Opal Loal Cobler in 1926. She died in 1989. He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Desda "Diz" Wallis, in 1980. Survivors include two daughters, Eva Jo Taylor of Amarillo and Mary Lee Rodman of Miami, Okla.; a brother, Willis Wyant of Tulsa, Okla.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. Bennie E. Galvan Bennie E. Galvan, 35, of Amarillo, died Monday, Aug. 9, 1999. Prayer vigil will be at 7 p.m. today in Colonial Funeral Chapel, 1010 W. Mr. Galvan was born in Dimmitt where he attended school and was a choir student. In 1984, he moved to Amarillo from Lubbock. He was a cook and active in Aware and PASO. Sallie Alice Wade Sallie Alice Wade, 90, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 1999. Mrs. Wade was born in Castro County and moved to Amarillo in 1942 from Hereford. She did alterations for Colberts Harry Hollend. For many years, she was a member of San Jacinto United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School and Queen of the Plains Rebekah Lodge No. 276. She was preceded in death by her husband, Finis Wade, in 1981 and by a son, Elvin Wade, in 1997. Survivors include a son, Kenneth Wade of Amarillo; a daughter, Billie Burke of Amarillo; a brother, Frank Rice of Bard, N.M.; a sister, Bobbie Collins of King; nine grandchildren; and 15 greatgrandchildren. Canyon Vivian Caruthers Wesley Boyd Vivian Caruthers Wesley Boyd, 92, of Canyon, a former Happy resident, died Monday, Aug. 9, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church of Happy with the Rev. Lonnie Poe, pastor, and the Rev. Jerry Stewart, pastor of First Baptist Church of Stratford, officiating. Burial will be in Wayside Cemetery at Wayside by Brooks Funeral Directors of Happy. Mrs. Boyd was born in Lewisville. She graduated as valedictorian of her class at Lewisville High School in 1924 and received her bachelor's and master's degrees from West Texas College. She taught school for 46 years in the Texas school system, 30 years at Happy Elementary School, retiring in 1972 as principal of Happy Elementary School. She married Ben Wesley in 1939. He died in 1947. She married Sulton J. Boyd in 1972. He died in 1980. She moved to Canyon in 1981. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Happy, the Retired Teacher's Association of Canyon and Canyon Senior Citizens Association. Survivors include a brother, D.C. Mr. Garcia was born in Del Rio and moved to Clovis in 1975. He was a truck driver for Hi Pro Feed in Friona, Texas, and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Community. He married Irma Perez in 1973 at Hereford, Texas. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Mario Garcia Jr. and Richard Garcia, both of Dalhart, Texas, Robert Garcia of Portales and Andrew Garcia of Clovis; a daughter, Celina Garcia of Clovis; three brothers, Vicente Garcia and Frank Garcia, both of Hereford, and Saturnino Garcia Jr. of Clovis; a sister, Maria Villareal of Fort Worth; and four grandchildren. Gradon Allen Defoor CLOVIS, N.M. - Gradon Allen Defoor, 80, died Monday, Aug. 9, 1999. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Sandia Baptist Church with Dr. James Burke and Dr. Herbert Bergstrom officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. in Fort Sumner Cemetery in Fort Sumner by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis. Mr. Defoor was born in Pike, Okla., and grew up in Turkey, Texas, and House, where he went to school. In 1941, he moved to Fort Sumner. During World War II, he served with the Army in the European theater where his battalion received five battle stars. Mr. Defoor became an ordained deacon in 1955 and served for two terms on the New Mexico State Baptist Convention Board of Albuquerque. He was a former member of the Fort Sumner Rotary Club and Fort Sumner Odd Fellows Lodge. For 11 years, Mr. Defoor served on the Life Saver Food Bank as president and in other capacities. He served as vicepresident of the Baxter-Curren Senior Citizens and on the Senior Advisory Board for First Savings Bank of Clovis. He was a member of Sandia Baptist Church. He married Ada Mae Edwards in 1943 at Clovis. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Alta Darlene, in 1946. Survivors include his wife; a son, Dennis Earl Defoor of Clovis; three brothers, Elmer Defoor of Odegaard, Ariz., John Ray Defoor of Tucumcari and Clyde Defoor of Clovis; three sisters, Veda Spitz and LeVon Haga, both of Clovis, and Syble Spitz of Fort Sumner; a grandson; and a great-grandson. Elsewhere Alpha Mae Gamblin FORT WORTH - Alpha Mae Gamblin, 80, a former Amarillo resident, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 1999, at Fort Worth. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors Pioneer Chapel, 2615 Paramount Blvd., in Amarillo. Mrs. Gamblin was born in Clarendon. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1936. In 1940, she was received a bachelor's degree in foods and nutrition from the University of Texas at Austin. She completed one year of formal graduate study and an internship which qualified her for a membership in the American Dietetic Association. She served as a registered dietitian at Vanderbilt University Hospital from 1942-43. While living in Amarillo sheworked as a dietitian at James Bowie Junior High School from 1965-67 and at James Bonham Junior High School from 1967-68. She served as chief dietitian at High Plains Baptist Hospital from 1968-75, as operations officer and manager of the executive dining room at the First National Bank from 1978-86, and director of food services at Park Place Towers Retirement Center and Nursing Home from 1989-91. Mrs. Gamblin was a longtime artist, a musician and a dance performer. She was an active supporter of the arts and letters. She also was an equestrian. Her husband, W.D. Gamblin, died in 1984. Survivors include her mother, Reba V. Stone of Amarillo; three sons, Dr. Walter David Watkins of Pittsburgh, Pa., Joe Charles Watkins of Amarillo, and Dr. Dan Lear Watkins of Weatherford; six grandchildren; and a great-grandson. A former Amarillo resident, Mr. Tollefson moved to Austin eight years ago. He was an educational mentor, sports official, entrepreneur and a West Texas A&M University alumni. Survivors include his wife, Caroline Tollefson; a daughter, Amy TollefsonHernandez of Flower Mound; a son, Kyle Tollefson of Amarillo; and a sister, Joan Kennon of Phoenix. Arrangements are by Heartland Funeral Home of Early. Mr. Stephenson was born in Claude. A retired mechanic, he was a member of Faith Baptist Church. He married Peggy L. Godwin in 1949 at Panhandle.
