Ms. Marshall was born in Nashville, Ark., and lived in Memphis from 1973 until 1986. She was an IBM keyboard operator and member of the Church of Christ. For the past 13 years, she lived in Denver. Survivors include two sons, Edward Coulter of Memphis and Delfred D. Marshall of Detroit; two brothers, John Cannon Jr. of Detroit and Willie R. Cannon of Fulton, Ark.; four sisters, Donna D. Amarillo Daily News, Nov. 11, 1999 Tama Hickey DUMAS - Tama "Dottie" Hickey, 76, died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999. Services will be at 3 p.m. today in Bethel Assembly of God with the Rev. Robbie Holcomb, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Lane Memorial Cemetery in Sunray by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas. Mrs. Hickey was born in Wynnewood, Okla., and lived in Sunray from 1952 until 1971 when she moved to Dumas. She was a homemaker and a Christian. She married Calvin Hickey in 1949 at Vernon. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Larry Collier of Dumas and Jerry Collier of Canadian; a daughter, Connie Derrick of Arlington; three sisters, Lucy Daniel and Penny Nermsgern, both of Dumas, and Beth Daniel of Levelland; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Ed Sweeney of St. Teresa's Catholic Church of Friona officiating. Burial will be in Bovina Cemetery by Ellis-Blackwell Funeral Home of Friona. Mrs. Vanegas was born in Trinidad, Texas and moved to Bovina in 1964 from Homestead, Fla. She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church and a homemaker. She married Epifanio Vanegas in 1959 at Homestead. She was preceded in death by three sons, Raymond Arredondo Jr. in 1955, Jose Arredondo in 1965 and Sunday Arrendondo in 1975. Burial will be in Floydada Cemetery by Moore-RoseWhite Funeral Home of Floydada. Mr. Nelson was born in Hugo, Okla., and moved to Floyd County from Paris in 1942. In 1946, he moved to Floydada where he attended school. A veteran of the Army, Mr. Nelson managed B.E. Needles & Son Tire Store in Floydada and was a salesman at Cloverlake Dairy in Lubbock. He was a Baptist. Survivors include a son, Richard D. Amarillo Daily News, Nov. 11, 1999 John Elbert Speer John Elbert Speer, 98, of Amarillo, died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40 with the Rev. Ron Holmes officiating. Military honors are by the Disabled American Veterans Ch. 26. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery East Mausoleum. Mr. Speer was born in Dickens County, where he graduated from high school. He taught in rural schools and attended Texas Tech University, earning his degree in education in 1931. He taught school in the Texas Panhandle in the 1930s, teaching at Lefors, Miami and Channing. In Amarillo, he served as principal of Pleasant Valley School and was a vice principal and science teacher at Sam Houston Junior High School. Mr. Speer joined the Army Reserves during the Depression and during World War II served as lieutenant colonel in the Army Intelligence Air Corps Department in England. After 1950, he moved to September Acres, their ranch home northwest of Amarillo. He raised award-winning horses and kept beehives and pet prairie dogs on the ranch. The ranch is now the site of Bootsteps Guest Ranch. Mr. Speer supervised building dams and area ranches with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Reclamation Bureau and the Army Corps of Engineers. He was an insurance executive in Amarillo, Lubbock and the Texas Panhandle for Equitable Insurance Co. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Westminster Presbyterian Church, Amarillo Coin Collectors Association, Range Riders, Texas Tech Alumni Association, where he served two terms as president, and Life Underwriters of America. In 1925, he married Mildred Crabtree in Dickens County. She died in February. Survivors include nieces and nephews including a niece they raised, Dr. Cherrie Kay Donawho of Houston; other nieces include Jimmie Speer Hunter of Flomot, Alice Speer Montoya and Francis Speer Gaskins of Albuquerque, N.M., and Melva Speer Shelton of Lubbock; nephews, John Frank Speer of Floydada, Ret. Admiral Raymond Speer of Lacy, Wash., and Lt. Col. Walter Speer of Colorado. He was a driver for Sight and Sound and a member of Liberty Baptist Church and Rockwell Road Baptist Church. He married Lisa Williams in 1994 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; a son, Israel Gonzales; his parents, Saul and Charlene Gonzales of Amarillo; a sister, Tina Hernandez of Amarillo; and grandparents, Norma Belmont of Amarillo and Saul and Margaret Gonzales of Los Angeles. A member of St. John Baptist Church, she participated in the Women's Ministry. Survivors include her husband, Walter Dixon; three sons, Walter E. Dixon, Timothy Dixon and Wesley Dixon, all of Amarillo; three daughters, Pamela S. Young and Maurine E. Johnson, both of Amarillo, and Sedalia Jackson of Plainview; a brother, Louis Harrison of Oklahoma City; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Mr. Boyd was born in Dimmitt, Texas, and had lived in Clovis the past 55 years. He had been a grocery store manager. He was a member of West 21st Street Church of Christ, the American Legion Post 0029 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3015. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise, in 1990; and a daughter, Lois Raye. Survivors include three sons, Jimmy Boyd of Austin, Jerry Boyd of Dallas, Texas, and Johnny Boyd of Fort Worth, Texas; a daughter, Floretta Banister of Clovis; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Ed Abla and the Rev. Bill Burch officiating. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mr. Burch was born in Melrose. He was a farmer and a dairyman who had been active in the insurance and real estate business. He also was active in Kiwanis, served as a chairman of the board at Clovis High Plains Hospital and had been a camp manager at Bonita Park Camp. He married Ida Belle Forbes in 1931. They were dorm "Mom and Pop" at Bethany Nazarene College. He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene. He was preceded in death by his wife; and a daughter, Barbara Ruth. Survivors include two sons, Rev. Bill Burch and Bob Burch; an adopted son, John W. Pruitt; a daughter, Marge Thornton; a brother, William Burch; a sister, Minnie Grant; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. A Fred E. She married Harvey Lee Anderson in 1957 in Alabama. They moved to Clovis in 1963. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1985; and two sons, Robert E. Gilbert and Jerry M. Gilbert. Survivors include three sons, Terry Gilbert of Eldridge, Ala., Harvey Anderson of Dyess AFB, Abilene, Texas, and Hoyt L. Services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Atoka Funeral Home Chapel with Jerry Shoemaker officiating. Burial was in Moore Cemetery at Clarita, Okla., by Atoka Funeral Home of Atoka. Mr. Walton was born in Liberty Hill. He was a self-employed diesel mechanic and had been a fire chief for 13 years at Clarita. He married Shirley Hamrick in 1953 at Clovis, N.M. He was preceded in death by a son, Randy Walton. Survivors include his wife; a son, Gary Walton of Atoka; three daughters, Pat Demorest and Pam Williams, both of Clarita, and Brenda Walker of Paradise, Texas; his mother, Lorene Grant of Dallas; three brothers, Bill Walton of Amarillo, Wayne Walton of Bells and Ronnie Walton of Dallas; two sisters, Glenis Johnston of Colbert and Gayle Stogner of Dallas; 17 grandchildren; and nine greatgrandchildren.
