Weemes HEREFORD - Henry E. Weemes, 85, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Central Church of Christ with John McMath officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Cemetery by Rix Funeral Directors. Mr. Weemes was born and raised in Fluvanna. In 1942, he moved to Hereford, where he was the owner and operator of Weemes Garage. After moving to Arlington in 1976, he worked for the Arlington Independent School District until his retirement. In 1992, he moved to Amarillo, where he was a member of the Golden K Kiwanis Club. He was a member of the Church of Christ. His first wife, Oleta, died in 1971. Survivors include his wife, Doris; a daughter, Melinda Stewart of Amarillo; two sons, Tommie Weemes and Chick Weemes, both of Hereford; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Richardson, 84, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Vega United Methodist Church with the Rev. Johna Campbell, pastor, and James Peach, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Vega Funeral Home. Mrs. Richardson was born near Zybach in Hemphill County and moved to Amarillo in 1966. She was a retired farmer and the founder of Richardson Seed Incorporated, where she was on the board of directors. She was a ballroom dance instructor and a member of the Ford Home Demonstration Club, Vega United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lois Faye Richardson; a grandson; and a great-grandson. Survivors include three sons, Wayne Richardson and Donnie Richardson, both of Vega, and Mike Richardson of Perryton; a daughter, Jo Anne Cook of Vega; a brother, Alvin Forrest of Portales, N.M.; two sisters, Ruby Risley of Grover Beach, Calif., and Agnes Brumfield of Pampa; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. The family will be at the Jo Ann Cook residence, south of Vega, and suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. Viewing will be from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until noon Tuesday. Amarillo Daily News Oct. 11, 1999 H.A. Kinser TULIA - H.A. "Harvie" Kinser, 86, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Hill, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery by Wallace Funeral Home. Mr. Kinser was born in Emory, where he attended schools. For 12 years and during World War II, he served with the Army and in 1945, moved to Plainview, where he was a police officer. In 1960, he moved to Tulia, where he was a farmer, rancher and truck driver. He worked for the John Deere House and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Calvary Baptist Church. His first wife, Mattie Foster, died in 1966. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ellen Kinser and a stepson, Sonny Anderson. He married Edythe Murphy in 1972 at Tulia. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Ruby Whitsett of Tulia and Shannah Kinser of Tulia; a son, Leroy Kinser of Dimmitt; two stepsons, Leon Anderson of Wilderado and Dale Anderson of Fritch; three stepdaughters, Marilyn Barnett of Tulia, Rebecca Matthews of Amarillo and Deana Weavers of Hereford; two sisters, Lois Clayton of Graham and Bessie Inman of Diboll; three brothers, Jack Kinser of Olney, Aud Kinser of Tulia and Claude Kinser of New Castle; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. Ione Sedinger, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Floyd County Memorial Park by Moore-Rose-White Funeral Home. Mrs. Johnson was born in Flomot, where she graduated from Flomot High School. In 1939, she moved to Floyd County from Grey Mule Community. She was a homemaker and a member of First Christian Church. She married Howell Buck "Jack" Johnson in 1931 at Clovis. He died in 1987. Survivors include two sons, Jay V. Johnson of Austin and Leonard Buck Johnson of Floydada; three daughters, Lillian Sue Burrowes of Duncanville, Jobe Hales of Nazareth and Darlene; two brothers, Farris Martin of Turkey and Donnie Martin of Silverton; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. "Cooter" Slaughter, 59, died Friday, Oct. 8, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. R.L. Hunnicutt, pastor of Victory Temple Full Gospel Church officiating. Burial will be in North Fairview Cemetery by Adams Funeral Home. Mr. Slaughter was born in Joaquin. In 1948, he moved with his family from Tenaha to Wellington, where he attended Booker T. Washington School. For three years, he worked at Cudd Brothers Trucking and for 15 years he farmed for the Nunnelley Family Farms. He served in both the Army and the Texas Army National Guard and was a member of Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church. His daughter, Barbara Turner, died in 1997. He married Celia Brown in 1984 at Wellington. She moved to Austin, where she was the owner and business manager of the Texas Orthopedic Clinic. In 1996, she graduated from the University of Texas School of Nursing and was named Most Outstanding Student. She returned to Amarillo one year ago and worked as a registered nurse for Baptist St. Anthony's Health System, where she was selected Nurse of the Month in September . She was a graduate student at West Texas A&M University. She was a member of Westover Hills Church of Christ in Austin and attended Central Church of Christ in Amarillo. Survivors include a son, James Matthew Wolfe of Austin; her mother, Linnie Weems of Amarillo; her father, Luther Moore of Rockdale; and two brothers, Mark Moore and David Moore, both of Amarillo. Georgia St. Mr. Sowers was raised in Amarillo and graduated from Tascosa High School in 1968. In 1973, he graduated from Texas Tech University and in 1995, received his master's at West Texas A&M University. For 25 years, he worked as an auditor in the accounting department for the City of Amarillo. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and in choir and ensemble. For 21 years, she worked in food service for the Amarillo Independent School District and since 1965, was a member of First Baptist Church. She married Travis B. Capps in 1938 at Hobart, Okla. He died in 1991. Survivors include two daughters, Linda Boyd of Houston and Ginger Sample of Amarillo; her mother, Mae Lowe Dorrill of Amarillo; a sister, Bernice Daniels of Tucson, Ariz.; and three grandchildren. Balizan as celebrant. Burial will be in Mission Garden of Memories by Muffley Funeral Home. Mr. Montoya was born in Vaughn and worked in maintenance for the Clovis Housing Authority for nine years. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Community. His grandson, Isiah Ramos, preceded him in death. Roy Dove, pastor of United Church of God in Amarillo, Texas, officiating. Arrangements are by Dawson-Welch Funeral Home. Mrs. Fisk was born in Foss and moved to Texhoma in 1936. In 1993, she moved to Dunaway Manor at Guymon, and in January, to Coon Memorial Nursing Home at Dalhart. She was a member of the Worldwide Church of God. She married E.F. Fisk in 1924 at Liberal, Kan. He died in 1997. She was also preceded in death by a son, Lloyd Fisk. Survivors include two daughters, Nina Jean Rader of Altus and Joyce Ann Dove of Hartley, Texas; two sons, Bob Fisk of Texhoma and Ray Dean Fisk of Big Sandy, Texas; two sisters, Eva Baker of Garden City, Kan., and Esther Purdy of California; a brother, Thomas Marshall Frisby of Fort Collins, Colo.; 20 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
