Johnson, 40, died Tuesday, July 27, 1999, at Lamesa. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church at Dumas with the Rev. Scott Willingham officiating. Burial was in Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. He married Marie Hudgens in 1997 at Dumas. Survivors include his wife; two sons, A.J. Johnson and B.J. Johnson, both of the home; a daughter, Sameka Johnson of the home; a stepson, Marshall Strifler of Fort Steward, Ga.; a stepdaughter, Hillary Frank of Amarillo; his parents, Lloyd and Pauline Johnson of Locust Bayou; four brothers, Randy Johnson of Magnolia, Ark., Gregory Johnson of Camden, Ark., and James Allen Tatum and Earl Tatum, both of Milwaukee, Wis.; four sisters, Opal Johnson of California, Jacquiline and LaDonna Johnson, both of Camden, and Anette Tatum of Milwaukee; and his grandmother, Helen Johnson of Locust Bayou. The family will be at 1324 S. Porter. Marie King PAMPA - Marie King, 72, died Monday, Aug. 9, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Galilee Baptist Church at San Angelo, with the Rev. Floyd Crider, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery at San Angelo by Warford-Walker Mortuary Inc., 509 N. Hughes of Amarillo. Mrs. King was born in Brenham and moved to Pampa in 1989. During the late 1940s, she moved with her family to San Angelo. She was a longtime member of Galilee Baptist Church until moving to Pampa. In Pampa she was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church where she was active until entering a nursing care facility. Survivors include a brother, Clyde Dotson of St. Louis; four sons, Billy Ray Earl of Los Angeles, Earnest Bibbs Jr. of San Angelo, Edward King of Jackson, Miss., and Charles King Jr. of Pampa; three daughters, Edna Mitchell of Woodbridge, Va., Carolyn Robinson of Austin, and Mildred Ingram of Ramstein AFB, Germany; 30 grandchildren; and 10 greatgrandchildren. Lucille Maxwell DUMAS - Lucille Maxwell, 90, died Thursday, Aug. 12, 1999. Graveside services will be at 9 a.m. today in Dumas Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Aiken of Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Maxwell was a longtime resident of Abilene before moving to Dumas a year ago. She was a homemaker. Survivors include two nieces, Christa Garrett of Dumas and Sharon Stembridge of Graham. The family requests memorials be to Calvary Baptist Church Youth Camp Fund. The family will be at 913 E. 8th in Dumas. Frances Sophronia Zeigler PLAINVIEW - Frances Sophronia Zeigler, 75, died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 1999. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Grace Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Don Shepherd of Albuquerque, N.M., former pastor, and the Rev. Connie Nieto, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by WoodDunning Funeral Home of Plainview. Mrs. Zeigler was born in Grape Creek near Corsicana. She attended school in Corsicana then moved to Slaton where she graduated from high school in 1941. She worked at the Slaton newspaper and attended Texas Tech University where she was a member of Sans San Soucci social society. She lived in Plainview during the 1920s, then returned during World War II as an employee of Southwestern Public Service Co. She later worked for the Texas A&M University System in College Station and Consolidated Aircraft in Fort Worth. From 1950 until 1988, Mrs. Zeigler and her husband owned and operated the Camera Shop in Plainview. She also served as secretary-treasurer of Zeigler's Camera Shop, Inc. Mrs. Zeigler was a longtime member of Grace Presbyterian Church where she was church historian and active in the Presbyterian Women's Organization. She was a member of the Plainview Junior Service League and Junior Delphin Sorority. She married Roland S. Zeigler Jr., in 1944 at Chandler, Ariz. Survivors include her husband; a son, Gordon Zeigler of Plainview; a daughter, Susan Slaughter of Plainview; and three grandchildren. Monsignor Peter Morsch PANHANDLE - Monsignor Peter Morsch, 95, died Thursday, Aug. 12, 1999. Vigil services will be at 7:30 p.m. today in CCD Building at Holy Family Catholic Church in Nazareth. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in Holy Family Catholic Church with the Most Rev. John W. Yanta, bishop of Amarillo, the Rev. Lawrence Hemp of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Slaton and priests of the diocese as concelebrants. Vigil services will be held Sunday in Slaton with mass celebrated on Monday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Slaton. Burial will be in Slaton Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Monsignor Morsch was born in Alkmaar, Holland and ordained in 1931 at Fribourg, Switzerland. Later that year, he came to the Diocese of Amarillo then served from 1931 until 1934 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in San Angelo. From 1938 until 1939, he was pastor in Rotan, Aspermont, Jayton and Hamlin. Monsignor Morsch then served at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Odessa and McCamey followed by service at St. Anthony's in Dalhart. From 1939 until 1943, he served at Sacred Heart in Littlefield and St. Phillips in Pep. He was at Sacred Heart in White Deer from 1943 until 1950 then served at Holy Family Catholic Church until 1963. From 1963 until 1981, he served at St. Joseph's in Slayton. Oklahoma Eldon Hoyt Durbin BEAVER, Okla. - Eldon Hoyt Durbin, 72, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 1999. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Beaver First Christian Church with Roger Neff officiating. Burial will be in Pioneer Cemetery by Clark Funeral Service of Beaver. Mr. Durbin was born in Forgan. After high school, he attended college. He was a corporal in the Army Air Corps and retired from Northern Natural Gas Co. He married Mae Dee Boston in 1947 at Perryton, Texas. Survivors include his wife; and two sons, Robert Durbin of Farmington, N.M., and Steve Durbin of Grove. Elsewhere Miles D. King GILMER - Miles D. King, 74, died Sunday, Aug. 8, 1999. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Upshur County Civic Center with Mac Wright officiating. Burial will be in Piedmont Cemetery by Turner Brothers Funeral Home of Gilmer. Mr. King was born in Gilmer where he was a longtime resident. During World War II, he served with the Navy aboard the aircraft carrier, USS Tulagi, in European and Asiatic waters. He attended Valley View High School and trade school at Valley View then went to California. After returning to Upshur County, Mr. King drove a school bus for Valley View High School from 1953 until 1955. In 1985, he retired as an inspector after 30 years with Lone Star Steel Co. In 1986, he was appointed to the Gilmer city council. In 1987, Mr. King was elected to the city council where he served several terms. A former member of the East Texas Human Development Corp., he helped obtain the local site for the Head Start Program. Mr. King chaired the city Neighborhood Improvement Committee and the Upshur County Appraisal District's condemnation board. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans, Selective Service Board and the Civic Center committee. Mr. King was a member and instrumental in obtaining a building for the Valley View Church of Christ. He was a former elder of Cypress Street Church of Christ. He married Ruby Turner in 1949. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Betty E. King Freeney and Barbara Kaye Ervin, both of Houston, Debra Ann Harper of Los Angeles and Carol Jeanette King of Gilmer; a brother, Melvin King of Amarillo; a sister, Erece Jones of Gilmer; and eight grandchildren. Area Aubrey Danae Hall Aubrey Danae Hall, infant daughter of Debi Hall of Clarendon, died Thursday, August 5, 1999, in Amarillo. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon with Jim Russell, pastor of Church of the Nazarene in Fritch, officiating. Arrangements are by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Boulevard in Amarillo. Aubrey was born in Amarillo. Lexus Ledbetter MEMPHIS - Lexus Ledbetter, infant daughter of LaSonya McIntosh and Gerald Lynn Ledbetter, died Saturday, August 7, 1999. Outley of Wellington; and great-greatgrandmother, Bell Hunter of Wellington. Herman A. Cole PLAINVIEW - Herman A. Cole, 79, died Sunday, August 8, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church Chapel with Dr. Travis Hart, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating, and Max Browning, pastor, assisting. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Cole was born in Achille, Okla., where he attended schools. In 1946, he moved to Plainview, where he worked for the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement in 1987. He served with the Army during World War II and was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Masonic Lodge and was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite. He married Sally Teague in 1988 at Plainview. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Craig Cole of Friendswood and Jim Teague of Concord, Calif.; a daughter, Amelia Cline of Plainview; a brother, Jesse "Shorty" Cole of Lubbock; two sisters, Lucrecia Hanna of Amarillo and Ann Grant of Hemet, Calif.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Mary Rae Lamb GRUVER - Mary Rae Lamb, 73, died Saturday, August 7, 1999. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jerry Moore and Andy Burleson officiating. Burial will be in Gruver Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman. Mrs. Lamb was born in Hansford County and was a lifelong resident of the area. She was a homemaker and a member of United Methodist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Janis Maupin of Turkey Track Ranch and Tanya Adkins of Happy; a son, Mart Hart of Beulah, Wyo.; a stepson, Perry Lamb of Gruver; nine grandchildren; eight greatgrandchildren; and three great-greatgrandchildren. Fifth. Mrs. Fielding was born in Wellington and had lived in Amarillo for the past 40 years. She was a homemaker. She married Robert Leon Fielding in 1946 at Ruidoso, N.M. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Lori Ann Adamson of Silverville, Tenn.; two sons, Timothy Cole Fielding of Austin and Robert Larry Fielding of Amarillo; and a grandchild. Dorothy McKnight Dorothy McKnight, 76, of Amarillo, died Sunday, August 8, 1999. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Memory Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Field of Southeast Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, 315 E. Fifth. Mrs. McKnight was born in Pecan Gap and worked as a secretary at Jupe Motor Supply. In June, she returned from Pecan Gap to Amarillo, where she had been a longtime resident and member of First Baptist Church. Her granddaughter, Bridgett Rex, died in June. Survivors include a daughter, Jerry Ward of Amarillo; a son, Gary Wayne Pettigrew of Kennedale; a brother, Alvis Campbell of Honey Grove; three sisters, Oletta Samuel of Denison, Sue Canup of Paris, Texas and Ginny Livingston of Bedford; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, memorials be to Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice and Life Enrichment Center. Marjorie E. Nordgren Marjorie E. Nordgren, 64, of Amarillo, died Sunday, August 8, 1999. Cremation was by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. No services are scheduled. Mrs. Nordgren was born in Jackson, Neb., and moved to Amarillo in 1981 from Wisconsin. She was a homemaker. She married John E. Nordgren in 1964 at South Sioux City, Neb. He died in 1989. Survivors include three brothers, Armon Todd, Lyle Todd and Alan Todd, all of South Sioux City; and two sisters, Regina Ashleman and Donna Dygert, both of Columbus, Ohio. The family suggests memorials be to Martha's Home Inc., in Amarillo. Oklahoma Shawn Dale Russell BEAVER, Okla. - Shawn Dale Russell, 28, died Saturday, August 7, 1999, in Pueblo, Colo. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Beaver First Christian Church with Terry Fox officiating. Burial will be in Pioneer Cemetery by Clark Funeral Service. Mr. Russell was born in Beaver and was a lifelong resident of Beaver County. He graduated from Beaver High School and was a serviceman in heating and air conditioning. Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Laquitta and Ernest Brooks; his father and stepmother, Bill and Sue Russell of Beaver; a brother, Brock Russell of Beaver; two sisters, Stacey Leinen of Manhattan, Kan., and Stefanie Simpson of Enid, Okla.; and his grandparents, Bobby and Von Taylor of Beaver.
