Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Rob Lackey of Park Central Retirement Center officiating. Arrangements are by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Hollar was born in Decatur County, Kan., and moved to Pampa in 1930 before moving to Amarillo in 1974. She was a homemaker and member of Trinity Baptist Church. She married Lewis Vern Hollar in 1919 at Kansas. Preceding her in death were her husband in 1976 and two sons, Neale Hollar in 1987 and James Hollar in 1963. Survivors include a daughter, Adeline Hulsey of Amarillo; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Ware Memorial Care Center. David Keith Wiginton David Keith Wiginton, 40, of Amarillo, died Sunday, July 11, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Assembly of God Church in Littlefield with the Rev. Dale Griswold and the Rev. Billy Davenport officiating. Burial will be in Littlefield Memorial Park by Hammons Funeral Home of Littlefield. Mr. Wiginton was born in Nacona and attended Littlefield schools. For 20 years, he was employed by Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad and was an engineer. He was a member of Grace Community Church. He married Elizabeth Anne Rountree in 1997 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; a son, Austin Grissom of the home; a daughter, Casey Grissom of the home; his parents, Claude and Ruby Wiginton of Littlefield; and a sister, Patricia Ann Hammer of Decatur. The family suggests memorials be to Make A Wish Foundation. New Mexico David Hinds CLOVIS, N.M. - David "Bear" Hinds, 46, died Saturday, July 10, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Central Baptist Church with the Rev. Dick Ross officiating. Burial will be in Mission Garden of Memories by SteedTodd Funeral Home. Mr. Hinds was born in Clovis, where he was a lifelong resident. He worked for Excel for 15 years as a foreman, and for the last five years he had been a meat inspector stationed at IBP. He married Janet Lancaster in 1979 at Clovis. Survivors include his wife; a son, Eric Savoie of Boston, Mass.; a daughter, Erin Savoie of Clovis; parents, Joe and Faye Hinds of Clovis; a brother, Robert Hinds of Earth, Texas; two sisters, Linda Douglas of Carlsbad, and Judy Morrow of House; and a grandchild. Area M.L. Turner PAMPA - M.L. Turner, 90, died Sunday, July 11, 1999, at McLean. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Alanreed Cemetery at Alanreed with the Rev. Thacker Haynes, pastor of First United Methodist Church of McLean, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Turner was born in Lawrence County, Ark., and had been a resident of Gray County since 1916, moving to Pampa in 1954. He was employed by Pantex, retiring in 1976. He was a member of Harrah Methodist Church. He married Flora Bell Bowdry in 1935 at Abilene. She died in 1996. Survivors include a daughter, Sue Pocock of Brea, Calif.; six brothers, Rush Turner of McLean, Bill Turner and Vernon Turner, both of Pampa, Ivan Turner and Joe Turner, both of Amarillo, and Ed Turner of Stamford; a sister, Auna Barnes of Fritch; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to BSA Hospice of the Panhandle, Box 2795, Pampa, TX 79066-2795. Ford Herring PAMPA - Ford Herring, 82, died Wednesday, July 7, 1999, at Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the First Christian Church with the Rev. Barry Loving, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery at Pampa, with Masonic rites by Pampa Masonic Lodge 966 AF&AM. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mr. Herring was born in Glazier. He received his bachelor of business administration degree from Oklahoma State University then moved to Pampa in the early 1950s from Stillwater, Okla. For several years, he worked for Cabot Machinery Division. Mr. Herring owned and operated OneHour Martinizing in Borger for 23 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the First Christian and the Biscuit Ministry, Pampa Masonic Lodge 966 AF&AM, the Pampa Shrine Club, the Khiva Temple of Amarillo and the El Paso Scottish Rite Consistory. During World War II, he served in the Army Air Corps. He married Valera Millard in 1958 at Borger. Survivors include his wife; a son, Steven Herring of Amarillo; a brother, Eugene Herring of Oklahoma City; a granddaughter; and three great-grandchildren. Marvin Douglas Ethridge FRITCH - Marvin Douglas Ethridge, 71, died Saturday, July 10, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Progress Baptist Church at Progress with the Rev. Trey Roberson, pastor of First Southern Baptist Church of Fritch, officiating. Burial will be in the Bailey County Cemetery at Progress by Brown Funeral Directors. Mr. Ethridge was born in Caldwell County, and had been a Fritch resident several years. He was a retired farm mechanic and a Baptist. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice, in 1995. Survivors include a son, Wayne Ethridge of Hart; five daughters, May Wright of Fritch, Frances McKay of Athens, Ala., Barbara Arriaga of Amarillo, Bobbie Kelly of Moreno Valley, Calif., and Bonnie Ethridge of Floydada; three brothers, Ray Ethridge of Dimmitt, J.R. Ethridge of Fort Worth, and Edward Ethridge of Hillsboro; a sister, Fay Densmon of Hillsboro; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Weatherford was born in Dumas and had been a lifetime resident. He graduated from Dumas High School. He was a truck driver and had served in the Navy. Survivors include three sons, Brandon Weatherford and Sheldon Weatherford, both of Nogales, Ariz., and John Weatherford serving in the Navy; parents, Clarence and Elwanda Weatherford of Dumas; and a brother, Mike Weatherford of Amarillo. Kevin Lamarr Woods PLAINVIEW - Kevin Lamarr Woods, 37, died Wednesday, July 7, 1999. Services were at 2 p.m. Monday in Happy Union Baptist Church at Plainview, with the Rev. Leonard Chatham, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Plainview Cemetery by Golden Gate Mortuary, 1416 N. Hughes., of Amarillo. Mr. Woods was born in Plainview and graduated from Plainview High School. He was a member of Happy Union Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Khrystofer Woods of Plainview; a daughter, Jefreye Woods of Plainview; his parents, Virginia and Norman Woods of Plainview; two sisters, Catherine Rosborough of Long Beach, Calif., and Nolanda Brazier of Plainview; two brothers, Robert Woods of Amarillo and Eric Woods of Plainview; and grandmother, Vivian Fennell of Plainview. Maggie Stewart TULIA - Maggie "Peggy" Stewart, 88, died Saturday, July 10, 1999, at Ardmore, Okla. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the First United Methodist Church in Tulia with the Rev. James Wilborn officiating. Burial will be Wednesday in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Stewart was born in Pampa. She married Archie Stewart in 1928 at Tulia. They lived in the Valley View community until 1940, when they moved to Tulia. They were active members of the First United Methodist Church of Tulia. She worked for Huxfords Department Store, Heard & Jones Jewelry Department and Lavelle's Department Store until retiring in 1974. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1978 and by a daughter, Geraldine Sutherland, in 1997. In 1983, she became a charter resident of Palo Duro Village Retirement Center in Canyon. She moved to Ardmore, Okla., in 1994. Survivors include a daughter, Rheta Lee Doye of Ardmore; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to First United Methodist Church. Erma Estelle Griffith MORTON - Erma Estelle "Sherry" Griffith, 89, died Sunday, July 11, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church in Morton with the Rev. Danny Jackson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Morton Cemetery by Ellis Funeral Home of Morton. Mrs. Griffith was born in Rose Hill, Ark., and had lived in Morton since moving from Wellman in 1945. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She also was a member of Cochran County Senior Citizens and was a homemaker. She married J.K. Griffith in 1934 at Roswell, N.M. He died in 1995. Survivors include a son, Curtis Griffith of Lubbock; a sister, Edith Weaver of Petersburg; a brother, Dallas McCurry of Littlefield; and two grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to First Baptist Church of Morton or Cochran County Senior Citizens. Vardy Louie Melton MEMPHIS - Vardy Louie Melton, 78, of Lewisville, died Sunday, July 11, 1999. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Memphis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. O.K. Bowen officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Mrs. Melton was born in Newlin. A homemaker, she had lived in Decatur before moving to Lewisville 12 years ago. She married Clarence "Buddy" Melton in 1938 at Memphis. He died in 1971. Survivors include a son, Clarence Melton of Denton; two daughters, Betty L. Herman of Tacoma, Wash., and Mary Lee "Misty" Roper of Bedford; a brother, E.L. Spruill of Memphis; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. James Wesley Mills CLARENDON - James Wesley Mills, 60, died Monday, July 12, 1999. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in The Cross in Groom with Charlie Floyd, pastor of Texola Baptist Church in Texola, Okla., officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Lamar Cemetery in Lamar, Okla., by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St., of Amarillo. Mr. Mills was born in Hughes County, Okla., and lived in Clarendon for most of his life. He was a self-employed electrical contractor. In 1983, he was employed by Associated Natural Gas, now Duke Energies. He was a Methodist. He married Doris Watson in 1956 at Memphis. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Adenia Bird of Goodnight; two sons, Charles Mills of Electra and Kent Mills of Dumas; three sisters, Josephine King and Cindy Winn, both of Amarillo, and Ann Bradshaw of Dallas; three brothers, J.C. Mills of Amarillo, Wylie Mills of Holdenville, Okla., and Dale Mills of Lamar; and five grandchildren. The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, memorials be to Baptist St. Anthony Hospice of Pampa or the Lamar Cemetery Association. Mildred Louise Titus Cope Morris BORGER - Mildred Louise Titus Cope Morris, 72, of Victoria, died Sunday, July 11, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Calvary Baptist Church in Borger with the Rev. D. Jay Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery in Borger by Rosewood Funeral Chapel of Victoria. Mrs. Morris was born in Arkadelphia, Ark. She was a retired secretary who had been employed by Borger New Herald Newspaper, First Baptist Church in Phillips and Calvary Baptist Church in Borger. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Phillips, Baptist Temple in Victoria and Order of Eastern Star Borger Chapter No. 811. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Alfred Jackson Cope in 1950 and Charles Claude Morris in 1983. Survivors include a daughter, Dr. Donna Sue Cope Cole of Victoria; a sister, Martha Jean Titus Tippin of Amarillo; a brother, Donald Lee Titus of Amarillo; and a granddaughter. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family requests no food, cards or flowers but suggest memorials be to a favorite charity. James Howard Tucker CLARENDON - James Howard Tucker, 75, died Sunday, July 11, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Robertson Funeral Directors Chapel of Memories with John Early, Christian Science Reader from Amarillo, and Dale Hoggatt, pastor of First Christian Church in Clarendon, officiating. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery. Mr. Tucker was born in Oklahoma City and lived in Dumas prior to moving to Clarendon 34 years ago. During World War II, he served in the Army Air Corps then served in the Army during the Korean War and was awarded a Purple Heart. In 1985, Mr. Tucker retired after 34 years of teaching, including 21 years at Clarendon College. He was a member of Clarendon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7782, Donley County Senior Citizens Association, president of the Lost Cord Club of Amarillo and past president of the Donley County Genealogy Society. He was a member of the Mother Church of Christ Scientist in Boston. He married Frieda Zybach in 1950 at Canadian. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Leanne Tucker Howell of Clarendon; two sons, Brian James Tucker of Amarillo and John Carl Tucker of Abernathy; and two grandsons. Dorothy Morgan SHAMROCK - Dorothy Morgan, 84, died Sunday, July 11, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in St. Michaels All Angels Episcopal Church with the Rev. Neal Creswell, vicar of St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church of Clarendon, officiating. Burial will be in Shamrock Cemetery by Wright Funeral Directors of Shamrock. Mrs. Morgan was born in Shamrock, where she was a lifelong resident. She had been employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone and was a member of St. Michaels All Angels Episcopal Church. She married John Duke Morgan in 1945 at Childress. He died in 1989. Survivors include a son, Johnny Morgan of Shamrock; two daughters, Linda Murry of Dumas and Margaret Phillips of Amarillo; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Marisela Arredondo PLAINVIEW - Marisela Arredondo, 54, died Sunday, July 11, 1999. Rosary will be recited today in Lemons Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Plainview with the Rev. Rey Sorgon, OSA of Hale Center and Olton churches, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery. Miss Arredondo was born in Mertzen and moved to Plainview in 1955. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Survivors include her mother, Georgia Arredondo of Plainview; a brother, Robert Arredondo Jr. of Waco; and three sisters, Cira Arredondo and Dominga Aguirre, both of Plainview, and Ada Ortiz.
