Mr. Ramzy was a native of Saginaw, Mich., and had been a resident of Amarillo for 35 years. He was a laborer. Charlie Gene Sutton Charlie Gene Sutton, 49, a former Amarillo resident, died Thursday, July 8, 1999, at Oklahoma City. Wake service will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Warford-Walker Mortuary Inc., 509 N. Hughes St., in Amarillo. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. James Mims, pastor of New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. He graduated from Alamo Catholic High School and attended Amarillo Community College. He was employed at Associated Wholesale Groceries for 22 years. He was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the Army until he was honorably discharged in 1971. He was affiliated with St. Martin's Catholic Church and Johnson Chapel AME Church. He married Venoral Leaks in 1968 in Amarillo. Survivors include a son, Charles David "Chad" Sutton of Oklahoma City; a sister, Helen E. Richardson of Amarillo; two brothers, Donnie Ray Sutton of Amarillo and Jimmie C. Sutton of Wichita Falls; three stepbrothers; and a stepsister. The family will be at 2512 Orange St. in Amarillo. She married James Webb Walton in 1933 at Wildorado. He died in 1986. She was a member of the Daughters of the Nile, BPW, the BPOE DOES 108, where she served as president in 1963 and later as state treasurer and state vice president. She also was a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha, where she served as vice president and treasurer. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She married William E. Adams in 1948 at Las Vegas, N.M. She was preceded in death by a son, Major John K. Adams. Survivors include her husband; a son, Charles Kasick of Fridley, Minn.; three brothers, Edward Barber of State College, Pa., Richard Barber of Orlando, Fla., and Alfred Barber of Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters, Helen Barber of Clovis, and Margurite Plummer of Long Island; nine grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. Oklahoma Carol Ruth Showalter Yarborough Tucker BOISE CITY, Okla. - Carol Ruth Showalter Yarborough Tucker, 70, died Friday, July 9, 1999. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Cimarron Mortuary Chapel with John Henley officiating. Burial will be in Boise City Cemetery. Mrs. Tucker was born in Cimarron County. She attended school in Boise City, where she graduated from high school. She attended Oklahoma State University and later worked for Showalter Motor Co., in the 1950s and 1960s. Her first marriage was to George Smith in 1949. Her second marriage was to John Yarborough in 1953 at Boise City. Survivors include three sons, David Smith of Austin, Texas, Craig Yarborough of Woodward and Eric Yarborough of Keyes. The family suggests memorials be to Camp Billy Joe or a favorite charity. Mr. Stratton was born in Brownwood. An Army veteran of World War II, he retired as an aircraft mechanic for the Civil Service. He was a Veterans Administration representative for many years. He was a member of Morton Street Church of Christ, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. He married Belva Lois McGowan in 1936 at Fort Worth. She died in 1988. Survivors include two sons, William Vance Stratton of Denison and Dennis Byron Stratton of Midland; a daughter, Lisa LaRue Hammonds of Venice; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The family will receive visitors from 7 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Dr. Dan G. Ellis FORT WORTH - Dr. Dan G. Ellis, 71, died Monday, July 12, 1999. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in McKinney Memorial Bible Church in Fort Worth. Private burial is by Greenwood Funeral Home of Fort Worth. Dr. Ellis was born in Perryton and served with the Army in Korea from 1946 until 1948. He graduated from Texas Christian University with a bachelor of science degree, then earned his D.D.S. from Baylor College of Dentistry. He did his internship at Boston Children's Hospital in pedodontics. After 34 years of practice as a pedodontist, Dr. Ellis retired. He served on the board of directors of the First Bank of Southwest and Breadbasket Ministries. He was a longtime member of McKinney Memorial Baptist Church. He married Norma Thurston in 1949. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Roxie Ellis, Patti Ellis Ambrose and Ginger Ellis Basham; and seven grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Drager was born in Collinsworth County and moved to Hereford in 1947 from House, N.M. She was a homemaker and member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She baked for the Home Demonstration Marker for many years. She married Abraham Drager in 1934 at Rhea. He died in 1978. Survivors include three sons, George Drager of Sunset, David Drager of Claude and Paul Drager of Plainview; a daughter, Lillian Batenhorst of Hereford; a brother, Richard Cooper of Dardanelle, Ark.; two sisters, Joyce Bogart of Tucumcari, N.M., and Mildred West of California; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Abston was born in Duncan, Okla., where he graduated in 1961 from Duncan High School. He joined the Army in 1961, served two tours of duty in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in 1980. In 1987, he retired from Martin Marietta Inc., where he was an instructor and helped develop missiles. He was a Baptist. Ida Pearl Patterson Smith TULIA - Ida Pearl Patterson Smith, 84, of Plano and formerly of Tulia, died Monday, July 12, 1999. Mrs. Smith was born in Stonewall County and graduated from Oriana High School. She and her husband moved to Hart in 1945 and to Tulia in 1952. She moved to Plano in 1994. She had been a member of First Baptist Church of Tulia since 1952. She married Marshall N. Smith in 1933 at Spur. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1974 and by a son, Darrell Smith, in 1979. He married Patricia Fish in 1957 at Plainview. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Lamar Cemetery in Lamar, Okla., by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St., of Amarillo. Mr. Mills was born in Hughes County, Okla., and lived in Clarendon for most of his life. He was a self-employed electrical contractor. In 1983, he was employed by Associated Natural Gas, now Duke Energies. He was a Methodist. He married Doris Watson in 1956 at Memphis. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Adenia Baird of Goodnight; two sons, Charles Mills of Electra and Kent Mills of Dumas; three sisters, Josephine King and Cindy Winn, both of Amarillo, and Ann Bradshaw of Dallas; three brothers, J.C. Mills of Amarillo, Wilie Mills of Holdenville, Okla., and Dale Mills of Lamar; and five grandchildren. Henry Gordon Moore PAMPA - Henry Gordon Moore, 93, died Tuesday, July 13, 1999. Memorial services are planned for a later date. Cremation and arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mr. Moore was born in Ector and moved to Hereford as a small child. After graduation from Hereford High School, he attended Texas A&M College and Texas Tech University. He was employed by the city of Lockney then worked for the Schneider Hotel in Panhandle and was transferred to the Schneider Hotel in Pampa. In 1938, Mr. Moore managed the El Rancho Hotel in Gallup, N.M., while his wife managed the gift shop. From 1944 until they sold their business in 1951, they owned and operated the Chief Gift Shop and Jewelry Store in Gallup. He then managed the Elks Club until 1966. From 1966 until his retirement in 1980, Mr. Moore was an accountant for J.B. Walker and Associates. He returned to Pampa in 1994. He was a charter and life member of the Elks Lodge No. 1440 in Gallup. He married Bertha Loraine Dyer in 1933 at Sayre, Okla. She died in March. Survivors include three nieces, Barbara Williams of Pampa, Jerilyn Moore and Linda Cavigilia, both of Fresno, Calif.; two nephews, John Moore of Alameda, Calif., and James Moore of California; and numerous great nieces and nephews. He was past president of Muleshoe Chamber of Commerce and a member of Muleshoe Rotary Club, Muleshoe Masonic Lodge and Muleshoe Eastern Star. He was division manager for Panhandle Oil and Gas and a wholesaler and retailer for Fina Oil and Gas. He married Mary Frances Willis in 1935 at Happy. Survivors include his wife; a son, Jimmy Clyde Holt of Muleshoe; a daughter, Mary Jo Black of Plainview; a sister, Helen Gardner of Charlotte, N.C.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Janney was born in Hardeman, Colo., and moved to Plainview in 1931. For many years, she was an administrative secretary for Plainview Independent School District. She was a member of First Christian Church. She married H.D. Janney in 1935 at Wichita Falls. He died in 1984. Survivors include a nephew, Paul Michelet of Lubbock. Burial will be in Quanah Memorial Park by Price-Jackson Funeral Home of Quanah. Mr. Akers was born in Maypearl and moved to Quanah from the Cleburne area when he was 9. He retired as a farmer and was a member of the Church of Christ. He married Dorothy Beaty more than 50 years ago. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Benge, in 1998. Mrs. Alexander was born in Indian Territory, graduated from school at Dodson and attained her teaching certificate. She taught at Enterprise for a year. In 1924, she moved to Dodson where she was a member of Dodson Civic Club, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. For 10 years, Mrs. Alexander was a licensed practical nurse at Collingsworth General Hospital and was a private nurse for five years. She was a member of the Church of Christ and moved to Wellington in 1984. She married Clyde Alexander in 1924 at Childress. Preceding her in death were her husband in 1985 and a daughter, Betty Jean Earle, in 1954. Survivors include two sons, Ruel Wade Alexander of Amarillo and Fred Alexander of York, Neb.; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two greatgreat-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Westview Boys Home, Wellington Cemetery Association or a favorite charity.
