Services were at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Memphis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. O.K. Bowen officiating. Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery at Memphis by Memphis Funeral Home of Memphis, Texas. Mrs. Currin was born in Caddo Mills and moved to Amarillo in 1999 from Memphis. She had been the owner of the Western Motel at Memphis and was a member of First Baptist Church of Memphis. She married Roy S. Currin in 1926 in Collin County. He died in 1968. Survivors include a son, Bill Currin of Amarillo; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to First Baptist Church at Memphis or Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice and Life Enrichment Center of Amarillo. Alfred E. Parrish Alfred E. Parrish, 72, of Amarillo, died Thursday, March 11, 1999. Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday in Colonial Funeral Chapel, 1010 W. Ninth, with the Rev. Allen Norris officiating. Burial was in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Parrish was born in Bayonne, N.J., and was an Army veteran. He was employed for more than 15 years as a security guard for Advance Security. In the early 1960s, he married Edith Kennedy who preceded him in death. Survivors include three daughters, Barbara Striley of Amarillo, Diana Bryant of Quanah and Trish Hughes of Illinois; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He retired as an office supply salesman for Elliott Office Supply and Russell Stationery in 1978. He was a Baptist. He married Clara Balch in 1939. Mr. Soto was born in Del Rio and had lived in Abilene from 1958 until moving to Amarillo in 1969. He served in the Army Reserves and with the Marines as a drill instructor for 3 1/2 years. He had worked at Pantex since 1976 and had been a fireman for several years and a softball coach. He was a Realtor with Action Realty, and formerly with ERA Realtors, Heritage Realtors, Boston Company Realtors and Ultra Realtors. He was a member of the Elk's Lodge, American Legion, LULAC, where he started the Amarillo Chapter, and a former member of the Moose Lodge. He married Carolina Lopez in 1966. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Lillian Soto Urias of Amarillo and Raquel Soto of San Antonio; two sons, Joe Angel Soto and Abel Lopez Soto, both of Amarillo; six sisters, Tina Najera, Lupe Marquez, Juanita Hernandez, Lydia Stokes and Nancy Ruelas, all of Abilene, and Anita Ledesma of Las Vegas; two brothers, Raymond Soto of Abilene and Antonio Soto of Amarillo; a grandmother, Maria DeJesus C. He was a veteran of the Army and a member of the Second Baptist Church and of the men's Sunday school class of that church. He married Alene Kotte in 1949. In Lefors, she was a member of First Baptist Church. She married Robert Webb in 1945 at Wheeler. He died in 1967. Survivors include a stepdaughter, Karen Jenson of Salt Lake City; her mother, Eula Coleman of Lefors; two sisters, Faye Nunn of Lefors and Maye Michelson of Salt Lake City; three brothers, L.B. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Sunny Lane Cemetery in Oklahoma City. Mr. Arnold was born in Norwalk, Iowa. In 1965, he retired as master sergeant from the Air Force after 25 years of service. He was in both World War II and the Korean War. In 1965, he moved to Hereford from Amarillo Air Force Base. Mr. Arnold was member of the Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, Hereford Senior Citizens and a former member of the Amarillo Bowling League. He married Bertha Vannoy in 1958 at Laredo Air Force Base. He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Ruth Payne. Survivors include his wife; a sister, Mildred Bock of Auburn, Ind.; a stepson, Paul Post of Auburn; a grandson; and four great-grandchildren. She was a homemaker and member of the United Pentecostal Church. She married Carlos Escobar 36 years ago at Juarez. Survivors include her husband; eight sons, Carlos Escobar Jr., Ramon Escobar, Alfredo Escobar, Martin Escobar, Armando Escobar, David Escobar, Victor Escobar and Arturo Escobar, all of Borger; a stepson, Rito Escobar of Juarez; four daughters, Lidia Escobar, Yolanda Fernandez, Ana Rodriguez and Hilda Escobar, all of Borger; a brother, Manuel Ortiz of Borger; a sister, Maria Martinez of Borger; and 14 grandchildren. R. Floyd Moss BORGER - R. Floyd Moss, 88, died Friday, March 12, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Brown Funeral Directors Chapel of the Fountains with the Rev. Gregg Simmons, pastor of First Baptist Church in Borger, officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Dozier Cemetery in Dozier. A longtime Borger resident, Mr. Moss was a native of Wheeler County. He served for four years in the Army Air Corps after graduating from high school in Shamrock. In 1975, Mr. Moss retired as payroll and warehouse clerk for Phillips Petroleum Co., where he worked at the Philblack Plant for a number of years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Borger. Survivors include a sister-in-law, Mattie Moss of Lancaster; a niece; and five nephews. Ella Lee Kinsey VEGA - Ella Lee Kinsey, 89, died Thursday, March 11, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Vega First Baptist Church with the Rev. Marvin Lee Roark, director of pastoral care with Baptist St. Anthony's Health System, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Vega by Vega Funeral Home. Mrs. Kinsey was born in Indian Territory and had lived in Vega since 1937. She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church and Eastern Star No. 528 where she was a past matron. She was a past member of Daughters of the Nile, Avihk Temple No. 70. She married Henry Kinsey in 1926 at Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1981 and by a son, Gene Kinsey, in 1998. Survivors include two sons, Marion Kinsey of Amarillo and Frank Kinsey of Vega; a daughter, Laverne McKandless of Gustine; a sister, Opal Nelson of Mesa, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. Mr. Martin was born and raised in Calvert where he attended schools. After living in Tulia for several years, he moved to Amarillo where he worked as an auto mechanic for Hedgecock Motor Co. He also was a reserve policeman. Mr. Martin lived in Amarillo for 53 years and then moved to Alabama in 1996. In 1998, he moved to Virginia where he was a member of Ridgeview Baptist Church in Fisherville. He married Martha Evelyn Green in 1934 at Tulia. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Connie Perkins and Rita Taylor, both of Amarillo; a son, Don Martin of Waynesboro, Va.; a sister, Ona Graft of Uvalde; four grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Delma L. Thorne PAMPA - Delma L. "Terry" Thorne, 82, died Friday, March 12, 1999. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Mrs. Thorne was born in Decatur and was a longtime resident of Pampa. She was a homemaker and a bookkeeper. She married Alfred S. Thorne in 1955. He died in 1992. Survivors include a nephew, Eldon Eugene Gilbert of Bakersfield, Calif.; three nieces, Marie Pratt of Jennings, Okla., Evelyn Lockhart of Tulsa, Okla., and Sharron Arnold of Elk City, Okla.; and several other nieces and nephews. Howard Goodrich GRUVER - Howard Goodrich, 79, died Thursday, March 11, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Christian Church with the Rev. Gary Gumfory, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Gruver Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman. Mr. Goodrich was born in Calhoun, Mo., and moved to the area 48 years ago. He served with the 10th Mountain Division of the 5th Army in Italy during World War II, was a former deacon of First Christian Church and a member of the Odd Fellows. Mr. Goodrich was preceded in death by a son, William O. "Bill" Goodrich, in 1997. He married Bernice Anders in 1939. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Deanna Kenney and Virginia Martin, both of Spearman, and Nell Frame of Longmont, Colo.; a son, Eddie Goodrich of Perryton; a brother, Raymond Goodrich of Kansas City, Mo.; two sisters, Roxie Gregory and Mary Justis, both of Clinton, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and of the Catholic Order of Forrester, Church Choir. He was a farmer and served in the Army during World War II. Mr. Wilhelm was preceded in death by a son, Robert Wilhelm, in 1983. He married Veronica Dorko in 1957. Mr. Scott was born in Poteau, Okla., and came to Satanta in 1965 from Durant, Okla. He retired from the Kansas Department of Transportation in 1979 as a heavy equipment operator for Barney Rogers Dirt Contractor in Ulysses. He was a member of United Methodist Church and of the Chamber of Commerce. He married Bobbie Lea Wallace in 1941. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Becky LaFever of Ulysses and Penny Ferguson of Amarillo; a brother, Buran Scott of Port Arthur; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Torres was born in San Marcus, moved to Paducah when young, and moved to to Lubbock in 1984. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. Her husband, Juan Torres, preceded her in death. Survivors include a daughter, Norma Torres of Lubbock; two sisters, Gabriella Vasquez of Lubbock and Antonia Rodriguez of Houston; and six grandchildren. New Mexico Joseph Garcia CLOVIS, N.M. - Joseph "Joe Jap" Garcia, 40, died Thursday, March 11, 1999. Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. today in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Rev. Daniel Balizan, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Mission Garden of Memories by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mr. Garcia was born in Albuquerque, N.M., and had lived in Clovis since 1976. He worked for Newt & Butch Construction and was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Survivors include five daughters, Crystal Brito of Marble Falls, Starla Gauna, Carla Gauna and Jennifer Gauna, all of Clovis, and Lisa Garcia of Mexico; his mother, Loida Flores, and stepfather, Raul Hernandez of Clovis; three brothers, Fritz Barreras of Tucumcari, N.M., Michael Garcia and Jimmy Garcia of Clovis; a sister, Desiree Flores of Clovis; and three grandchildren. Clarice Gomez Ostic TUCUMCARI, N.M. - Clarice Gomez Ostic, 66, formerly of Tucumcari, died Thursday, March 11, 1999. Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. Monday in Dunn Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Anne's Catholic Church with the Rev. John C. Daniel, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery by the funeral home. Mrs. Ostic was born in Tucumcari where she attended schools and was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church. She had been living with a daughter in Los Lunas, N.M. Survivors include two sons, Vernon Ostic of Bellflower, Calif., and Ronnie Gomez of Los Lunas; three daughters, Louise Gomez of Los Lunas, Roberta Martinez of California, and Renee Sharp of Albuquerque; two sisters, Ethel Martinez of Tucumcari and Virginia Gonzales of Albuquerque; two brothers, John E. Gomez and Rudolph Gomez, both of California; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Viewing will be until time for services Tuesday at the funeral home. Dan B. Buzzard CLOVIS, N.M. - Dan B. Buzzard, 78, died Friday, March 12, 1999. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Lawn Haven Memorial Garden with John Rollinson and Dr. Herbert Bergstom officiating. Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home. Mr. Buzzard was born in Okmulgee, Okla., and received an LLB degree with the highest honors from the University of Oklahoma, Norman. He came to Clovis in 1951 and opened his own law office in 1953. He was a veteran of World War II, a member of St. James Episcopal Church, American Legion Post No. 25, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks ClovisPortales Lodge No. 1244, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and past Commander of VFW Post No. 3015. He married Better Hunter in 1938. She died in 1982. He married Eleanor Sawyer Ferguson in 1982. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Dana Burgett of Yorktown, Va., Paige Smith of Clovis and Jill McCoy of Fort Worth; a brother, Mark Buzzard of Pampa; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
