Mr. West was born in Woodward, Okla., and moved to Amarillo in 1989 from Borger. He was a World War II veteran, stationed in New Guinea and the Philippines with the Navy Seabees. He retired in 1980 as a leadman for City Service Natural Gas. He was past president of the Borger Evening Lions Club and was a member of St. Stephen United Methodist Church. He married Joyce Baker in 1939 at Woodward, Okla. Survivors include his wife; a son, Ronald E. West of Newton, Kan.; and two brothers, Harold A. West of Sacramento, Calif., and Louis A. Osage St. Mrs. Morton was born in Tulsa, Okla. She graduated from Borger High School and attended Our Lady of the Lakes College at San Antonio. She moved to Amarillo 25 years ago from Phillips. She worked as the deputy Potter County Tax Assessor Collector for nine years. She was a member of St. Hyacinth's Catholic Church. She married Gary Morton in 1981 in Amarillo. He attended Quincy College where he played football. He was active in the Catholic Youth Organization, serving as president in 1984 and 1985. Until his retirement in 1986, Mr. Lammers owned and operated Jim Lammers Plumbing Co. He was a longtime coach of kids basketball and baseball. In Amarillo, he coached Kids, Inc., football. Mr. Lammers was a member of St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in Amarillo and the Knights of Columbus in Quincy. He married Pat Crabby in 1948 at Quincy. Survivors include his wife; three children, Cindy Taute and Kim Davis, both of Amarillo, and Jim Lammers of Urbana, Mo.; two brothers, John Lammers and Paul Lammers, both of Quincy; and three grandchildren. Mrs. Pumphrey was a member of First Baptist Church, a life member of Order of Eastern Star, life member of Texas Congress of Parent Teachers Association, life member of Retired Teachers and a member of the Amarillo Study Club. She married Otis R. Pumphrey in 1922 at Wewoka, Okla. He died in 1944. Survivors include a son, Dick Pumphrey of Amarillo; a grandson, Chris Pumphrey; and a great-grandson. She graduated from Floydada High School and attended Trinity University. She had worked at the First National Bak of Floydada and moved to Petersburg in 1942 from the Barwise community of Floyd County. Mrs. Shurbet was a member of Hale County Home Demonstration Club, the Lubbock Women's Club and Main Street Church of Christ of Petersburg. She also was a 4-H Club member and adult leader. She married Marvin Shurbet in 1937 in Floyd County. He died in 1986. She also was preceded in death by a daughter. Burial will be in Willow Wild Cemetery by Wise Funeral Home of Bonham. Mr. Johns was born in Staunton, Va., and moved to Canyon in 1908. She received her bachelor of art degree in 1929 and master of art degree in 1950, both from West Texas State University. She then studied art in Taos, N.M., the School of Art in Cloudcroft, N.M., in Dallas and at the Art Academy in Munich, Germany. In 1971, she retired after 42 years of teaching art and science at Bailey Inglish and I.W. Evans in Bonham. Among the awards she received was the Excellence in Teaching award in 1966-67 from the state of Texas and given by the National Instructor Magazine. Mrs. Johns was member of First Presbyterian Church of Bonham. She moved to Canyon in 1994. She married Carrol Wesley "Buster" Johns in 1931 at Durant, Okla. He died in 1989. Mahaney Jr. GUYMON, Okla. - L.E. "Everett" Mahaney Jr., 76, died Monday, Dec. 13, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Weichman, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors. Mr. Mahaney was born in Oklahoma City. At age 13, he began a career in the theater business, working as a projectionist. He continued this profession while serving during World War II at Pearl Harbor Naval Yard. After his retirement from the Navy, Mr. Mahaney returned to Oklahoma City where he worked as a film salesman for various film companies. He was an independent theater owner for 42 years, serving the Guymon community. He married Mary Joan McBurnett in 1945. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Una Jo Fowler of Perryton, Texas; a son, Charles Everett Mahaney of Oklahoma City; a sister, Rosemary Landrum of Miami, Okla.; two grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at Newton. Mrs. Grant was born in Ford County. She was the head cashier, credit manager and bookkeeper for Montgomery Ward for 20 years and later worked for Holstine Motors for 10 years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Newton and the Silver Top No. 1 Mixed Bowling League of Eastgate Lanes in Newton, where she was secretary of the league. She married John H. Grant in 1941 at Dodge City, Kan. He died in 1992. She also was preceded in death by two infants.
