McCaffety B.J. McCaffety, 76, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 Bell St., with the Rev. Bill Wadley officiating. Arrangements are by the funeral home. Mr. McCaffety was born in Lawn and had been a painter for Texas Coffin Co. He served in the Army Air Corps from 1942 until 1945. Survivors include his wife, Nadene Stone; two stepdaughters, Betty Hofreiter of Moline, Ill. and Dean Doose of Phoenix; and six grandchildren. Perfecto B. Chavez Perfecto B. Chavez, 77, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999. Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. today in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, 5th and Pierce, with Hector Gallegos, deacon, officiating. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Rev. Hector J. Madrigal officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by the funeral home. Mr. Chavez was born in Roby and worked as a construction foreman for J. Lee Milligan until his retirement in 1988. He served with the Army during World War II, and was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He married Paula Carrasco in 1946. She died in 1997. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sylvia, in 1970 and by a grandson, Johnny Hernandez, in 1977. Survivors include a son, Louie Chavez of Amarillo; three daughters, Gloria Chavez and LeLia Green, both of Amarillo, and Pauline Bargas of Los Angeles; a stepdaughter, Gloria Malone of Amarillo; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. The family will be at 1618 S. Arthur. Elsewhere Allen H. Haggard LUBBOCK - Allen H. Haggard, 84, died Friday, Feb. 12, 1999. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. today in Rancho Cemetery, Nixon, with the Rev. Floyd Lewis, pastor of Christ Presbyterian Church, San Antonio, officiating. Arrangements are by Ellis Funeral Home, Muleshoe. Mr. Haggard was born in Rockwood, Tenn., and had been a resident of Lubbock for two years. He moved to Lubbock from San Antonio, where he was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church and of the Elk Lodge. He worked as an accountant in the Army and for several firms until his retirement in 1968, and was a veteran of World War II. He married Lois Bartlett in 1959. She died in 1994. Survivors include two daughters, Deanne Clark of Lubbock and Susan Hinton of Gradbury; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-greatgrandchildren. Mildred Fern Deptula ROARING SPRINGS - Mildred Fern Deptula, 76, formerly of Amarillo, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999. No services are planned. Arrangements are by Seigler Funeral Home, Matador. Mrs. Deptula was born in Burkburnett and had been living in Roaring Springs for the past 17 years. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Amarillo. Her first husband, Alfred Barrett Smith, died in 1988. Survivors include her husband, John R. Deptula; three daughters, Sharon Caffy of Lubbock and Toni Oldfather and Susan Gaines, both of Austin; a stepson, Raymond Deptula of Germany; a stepdaughter, Mari Deptula of Phoenix; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. New Mexico Ralph Martinez TUCUMCARI, N.M. - Ralph Martinez, 95, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999. Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. today in Dunn Memorial Chapel. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Anne's Catholic Church with the Rev. John C. Daniel, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the family plot at Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery by the funeral home. Mr. Martinez was born in Ojo De Llano, N.M., and was retired from Southern Pacific Railroad. He was a Catholic and had been living in California. Survivors include three daughters, Edna Jost of Torrence, Calif., Patricia Saito of Newberry, Calif., and Dorothy Dominguez of Ventura, Calif.; two sons, Joe Martinez of Dallas and George Martinez of Arvada, Colo.; three sisters, Josephine Martinez of Concord, Calif., Pauline Moffitt of San Bernadino, Calif., and Filomena Chavez of Espanola, N.M.; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Viewing will be today until service time Tuesday. Ed Hawthorn LOGAN, N.M. - Ed Hawthorn, 76, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Logan Church of Christ with Stanley Newton, minister, and Abe Langston, minister of Church of Christ, Big Springs, officiating. Burial will be in the family plot at Logan Cemetery by Dunn Funeral Home, Tucumcari. Mr. Hawthorn was born in Cairo, Ga., and had been a resident of Logan since 1982. He was a retired conductor and brakeman from AT&SF Railroad and served in the Marine Corps during World War II. He was a member of Logan Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Beverly Hawthorn; five daughters, Eileen Massey of Portales, N.M., Jan Fouts of Jal, N.M., Sheree Brown of Ruidosa, N.M., Kyla Nelson of Abernathy and Marilyn Swope of Cedar Creek; two sons, Clay Hawthorn of Belen, N.M., and Mike Jones of Edgewood, N.M.; six sisters; a brother; 23 grandchildren; and eight greatgrandchildren. Oklahoma Tigh Douglas Murdock FELT, Okla. - Tigh Douglas Murdock, 16, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Felt School Auditorium, with Dean Cullop officiating. Burial will be in Bertrand Cemetery, Felt, by Cimarron Mortuary, Boise City, Okla. Mr. Murdock was born in Guymon, Okla., lived in Goodwell and moved to Felt when he was 2 years old. He began school in Felt, and had been attending Campo School in Campo, Colo. Survivors include his parents, Doug and Sheree Murdock, both of Felt; two sisters, Amanda Murdock and Melanie Murdock, both of Felt; grandparents, Duane and Pauline Lindly, both of Verden, Okla.; a grandmother, Ethel Murdock of Felt; and a great-grandmother, Gussie Lamb of Guymon. Burial will be in Earth Cemetery by Parsons-Ellis Funeral Home, Earth. Mrs. Gover was born in Charrolton, Ill., and moved to Earth in 1940 from Fredrick, Okla. She was a homemaker and a member of Earth Church of Christ. Survivors include two sons, J. Allen Gover of Earth and Bill Gover of Petersburg; three daughters, Jo An Lemon of Colorado City, Helen McBride of Amarillo, and Judy Allmond of Petersburg; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Glover, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Allen was born in Henryetta, Okla., and had lived in Pampa since 1939. She had been a medical secretary, and was a member of First Baptist Church, Business and Professional Women's Sunday school class, the Pampa Senior Citizens Center and the El Progresso Study Club. She was a board member of the Knife and Fork Club and a former president of the Ladies Golf Association at the Pampa Country Club. Her husband, Denver Allen, died in 1984. Survivors include a daughter, Debbie Huff of Castle Rock, Colo.; a son, Dee Allen of Bakersfield, Calif.; three sisters, Mary Newcomb of Hardin, Ky., Joy Hoffman of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Reba Carroll of Bakersfield, Calif; a brother, Bob Hunter of Broken Arrow, Okla.; and three grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Lupus Foundation of America, West Texas Chapter, 1717 Avenue K, Suite 127, Lubbock, TX 79401. William Boyce Waddill William Boyce Waddill, 85, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Rowe Cemetery, Hedley, with Tom Anderson officiating. Arrangements are by Memphis Funeral Home. Mr. Waddill was born in Lindale and lived in the Hall County area until a recent move to Amarillo. He served with the Army during World War II. He married Billie Laurent in 1948. Survivors include his wife; two stepbrothers, Cecil Taylor and Aldin Taylor, both of Arlington; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be to the Cancer Society. Ralph Morrison HEREFORD - Ralph Morrison, 61, died Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in West Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Travis Curry, pastor of Bible Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery by Gililland-Watson Funeral Home, Hereford. Mr. Morrison was born in Hereford and worked in farming and feedyard maintenance. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and served with the Air Force in the Vietnam War. Survivors include a son, Joseph Morrison, of Amarillo; his mother, Mary Morrison, of Hereford; three sisters, Mary Lynn Heddins and Marjorie Thomas, both of Hereford, and Judith Shaddle of Sandwich, Ill; and a brother, Raymond Morrison of Dallas.
