Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Central Church of Christ Chapel with Dick Marcear and Paul Sneed officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia. Mrs. Whitis was born in Lockney and attended Texas Tech University. She was a homemaker and a member of Central Church of Christ and of Alzheimer's Support Organization. Her husband, Thurman Whitis, died in 1993. Survivors include a son, Van Whitis of Palo Alto, Calif.; and two grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the Amarillo Children's Home. Edgar Dixon Edgar "Dick" Dixon, 76, of Amarillo, died Saturday, March 13, 1999. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia, with the Rev. Rick D. Mathis of West Amarillo Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by the funeral home. Mr. Dixon was born in Snyder and lived in Amarillo most of his life. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1939 and retired as an accountant from his own company, Dixon's Bookkeeping Service, in 1998. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge where he was a 32nd degree Rite Mason, the Khiva Shrine Temple, the American Legion, and served in the Army Signal Corps during World War II. He was a member of Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church. He married Joyce Graham in 1945. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dann Dixon of Fort Worth and Kelly Dixon of Auburn, Calif.; and two grandchildren. Edgar Lee Rogers Edgar Lee Rogers, 84, of Amarillo, died Saturday, March 13, 1999. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Tom Scherlen officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mr. Rogers was born in Arkansas and moved to Amarillo from Wellington in 1961. He served with the Navy during World War II, worked in the oil fields in Texas, Kansas and Saudi Arabia and started his own trucking business in 1955. He was a member of the VFW and of Washington Avenue Christian Church. He married Ortez Stone in 1961. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Sarah Phillipp, Nancy McKee and Virginia Land, all of Amarillo; a sister, Louise Rogers of Wellington; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Dorothy June Hudspeth Dorothy June Hudspeth, 69, of Amarillo, died Saturday, March 13, 1999. Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Memory Gardens Mausoleum with the Rev. Mrs. Hudspeth was born in Amherst and moved to Amarillo in 1961. She was a retired beautician and a Baptist. She married James Z. Clark in 1949, and W.R. Hudspeth in 1969. Survivors include her husband; a son, Carley Clark of Lubbock; a stepson, Gary Hudspeth of Amarillo; two stepdaughters, Lisa Giesey of Friendswood and Diane Burnell of Garden City, Kan.; a brother, Donnie Lanier of Nashville, Tenn.; two sisters, Lavada Lanier and Robbie Hartman, both of Amarillo; and five grandchildren. Mrs. Rhea was born in Gravette, Ark., moved to Amarillo as a young child, and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1942 and from Texas Tech University with a degree in business in 1946. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi at Texas Tech, was a homemaker and a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. She married Marshall Rhea in 1946 in Amarillo. Survivors include her husband; a son, Larry Rhea of Amarillo; a daughter, Janet Snure of Englewood, Colo.; a brother, C.B. Marsh Jr., of Amarillo; and four grandchildren. Oklahoma Conception Hernandez HARDESTY, Okla. - Conception Hernandez, 68, died Friday, March 12, 1999. Vigil services were at 6 p.m. Sunday in Henson-Novak Funeral Directors Chapel in Guymon, Okla. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Peter's Catholic Church, Guymon, with Scott Adams officiating. Burial will be in Hartville Cemetery, Hardesty, by the funeral home. Mrs. Hernandez was born in MapimiDurango, Mexico, and had moved to Hardesty from Las Cruces, N.M., four months ago. Her husband, Ascencion Hernandez Villa, preceded her in death. Survivors include six daughters, Carmela Diaz of Portales, N.M., Irene Morales of Guymon, Okla., Rosa Aguilar and Leticia Morales, both of El Paso, Yolanda Ramirez of Juarez, Mexico, and Susana Hernandez of Chihuahua, Mexico; three sons, Jose Hernandez and Benjamin Hernandez, both of Guymon, and Ascencion Hernandez Jr. of Portales; 36 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren. R. Starr Sloan GUYMON, Okla. - R. Starr Sloan, 41, died Friday, March 12, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Henson-Novak Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Odie Nunley officiating. Burial will be in Hansford Cemetery in Spearman by the funeral home. Mr. Sloan was born in Perryton where he attended schools, later graduating from Fleming High School in Fleming, Ky. He worked for Adams Hard Facing for more than 16 years and had been employed by Sims Electric Co. for the past four years. He worked with the Special Olympics, supported the Panhandle Area Shelter Workshop and was a Baptist. He married Tracey Carter in 1978. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Katie Sloan; a son, Brandon Sloan; his mother, Rosa Sloan of Guymon; a sister, Karen Riddles of Austin; a brother, Steve Sloan of California; and his grandmother, Etta Buchanan of Stigler, Okla. Jeweldeane Lewis GUYMON, Okla. - Jeweldeane Lewis, 75, died Friday, March 12, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Maynard officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors. Mrs. Lewis was born in Goodwell, Okla., and was a member of First Baptist Church in Hardesty. She married Sylvester F. Lewis in 1940. He died in 1996. She was also preceded in death by a son, Charles Russell Lewis. Survivors include a daughter, Linda Kerr of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sons, Dennis Lewis of Turlock, Calif., and Daniel Lewis of Guymon; a sister, Norma Rumford of Goodwell; and a brother, Carl Hamilton of Goodwell. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery by Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Mr. Wilhelm was born in Waterflow, N.M., and moved to Texas from Yellow Jacket, Colo., in 1933. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and the Catholic Order of Forrester Church Choir. He was a farmer and served in the Army during World War II. Mr. Wilhelm was preceded in death by a son, Robert Wilhelm, in 1983. He married Veronica Dorko in 1957. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Henry Wilhelm of Nazareth, Cecil Wilhelm of Hereford and Stephen Wilhelm and Damian Wilhelm, both of Amarillo; three daughters, Mary Beth Haschke and Dorothy Huseman, both of Amarillo and Theresa Rose Mullen of Clarendon; a brother, Bernard "Bert" Wilhelm of Tucumcari, N.M.; a sister, Ruth Kuhler of Amarillo; and 18 grandchildren. Jesse N. Masso PLAINVIEW - Jesse N. Masso, 88, died Saturday, March 13, 1999. Vigil services will be at 7:30 p.m. today in Lemons Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Alice Catholic Church with Jim McCartney officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by the funeral home. Mr. Masso was born in Torreon Coah, Mexico, and grew up in Jerusalem where he graduated from Terra Santa Secondary School in 1928 and later owned his own dry goods business. He immigrated to Matamoros, Mexico, in 1952 where he owned and operated a shoe store. He moved to Plainview in 1963, established Masso's Department store and retired in 1975. He married Fernand Salomon in 1941, in Jerusalem. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Jacqueline Masso, Georgette Masso, Josephine Masso and Irma Shakelford, all of Plainview; two sons, Jacob Masso of Plainview and Robert Masso of Tampa, Fla.; two sisters, Wadia Masso of Beit-Jala, Israel, and Eugene Shehadeh of Lubbock; and four grandchildren. Beulah Chavers DIMMITT - Beulah Chavers, 65, died Saturday, March 13, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church with Melvin Tatum, elder, and the Rev. Archie McNeal, officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park by Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home. Mrs. Chavers was born in Kern and moved to Dimmitt from Corsicana 36 years ago. She was a homemaker and a member of Macadonia Baptist Church. Her husband, John Chavers, died in 1973. She was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Sherman. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. Mrs. Mason was born in Childress and attended schools in Plainview. She was an artist and a member of Ninth & Columbia Church of Christ. She married John Mason in 1946. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Cheryl Bradley of Lockney and Donna Bevill of Claytonville; a son, Ray "Rusty" Mason of Lubbock; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Nagel was born in Lipscomb County and had lived in the area since 1946. He graduated from Follett High School in 1924, was an appliance repairman and served in the Navy. He married Ruth Regan in 1951. Survivors include his wife; a daughter Zona Hairgrove of Rapid City, S.D.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. Glenn Hoggatt PERRYTON - Glenn Hoggatt, 80, died Saturday, March 13, 1999. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Full Gospel Church with the Revs. Michael Waterbury and Harrol Waterbury officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Hoggatt was born in Union Valley, Okla., and had lived in the area since moving from Tulia in 1959. He was a jeweler and attended watchmaking school in Peoria, Ill., operated a jewelry store in Clarendon, worked at Heard and Jones in Tulia, and at Yoakley Jewelry and Corner Drug in Perryton. He served with the Army in World War II and was a member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church of Perryton. He married Nellie Grady in 1941. He was preceded in death by a son, Terry. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Glynell McCoy of Perryton; a sister, Gloria Knox of Spearman; three brothers, Bill Hoggatt of Amarillo, Leon Hoggatt of Burleson and Damon Hoggatt of Phoenix; four grandchildren; and six greatgrandchildren. Mr. Jaques was born in Vanhorn and worked for the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad as a laborer in the roundhouse. He married Andrea Tenorio in 1937. Survivors include his wife; a grandson, Steven R. Gonzales of the home; a daughter, Judy Gonzales of Clovis; a sister, La La Pena of Belen, N.M.; a brother, Juan Jaques of Belen, N.M.; three other grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Klause was born in Arlington and married her husband, Randy, in Amarillo. Survivors include her husband of San Antonio; two daughters, Celissa Klause and Lacey Klause, both of San Antonio; three sisters, Shirley Flower, Susie Mason and Helena Strote; and her mother, Helen Gillispie.
