Wayne Turner E. Wayne Turner, 58, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors Pioneer Chapel, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Lone Oaks Cemetery at Sayre, Okla., with the Rev. L.R. Green of Pleasant Valley Assembly of God Church officiating. Mr. Turner was born in Hereford. He attended Amarillo College and other schools. Mr. Turner had worked about 22 years in law enforcement and eight years in security. He was a charter member of the American Police Academy. He received the American Police Hall of Fame Award, the National Commission on Professional Law Enforcement Certificate in Law Enforcement Science and Criminal Justice and the American Police Service Medal. He had been employed at Baptist St. Anthony's Health System as a security officer from 1994 until 1998. He was the chief of police for Sunray Police Department from 1978 until 1985. Mr. Turner had worked for several police departments in the Texas and Oklahoma areas. He was a Baptist. Survivors include two brothers, Glenn B. Talley of Amarillo and R.L. Talley of Fort Worth; two sisters, Lou Ellea Demars of Dallas and Virgie Jewel Purcella of Roswell, N.M.; and nieces and nephews. Amarillo Daily News, Oct. 15, 1999 Kathryn Elizabeth Wynn Kathryn Elizabeth Wynn, 83, of Amarillo, a former Borger resident, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Temple Baptist Church in Amarillo with the Rev. Richard Dickerson officiating. Graveside services will be at 4:30 p.m. today in Westlawn Memorial Park at Borger by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Mrs. Wynn was born in Weatherford and moved to Borger in 1943 then moved to Amarillo in 1970. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Amarillo and a charter member of Bunavista Methodist Church of Borger. She retired from the Kellogg Co. as an accountant. Her first husband, Francis Roy Peden, died in 1970. She also was preceded in death by her second husband, Floyd W. Wynn in 1994. Survivors include three daughters, La Wanda Merrill of Borger, Judy Mae Jolley of Choctaw, Okla., and Neta Gay Mussa of Broken Arrow, Okla.; two stepdaughters, Barbara Bassile of Torrance, Calif., and Joyce Hunt of South Greenfield, Mo.; a stepson, Bill Wynn of Penrose, Colo.; a brother, Emery Gee of Amarillo; three sisters, Ernesteen Orr of Borger, Grace Haddox of Amarillo and Helen Ady of Fort Worth; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Chapel at Ardmore, Okla., with Dr. Virgil Trout and Raynard Screws officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Ardmore. Mrs. Bradford was born in Garber, Okla., and lived in Ardmore from 1974 to 1993 when she moved to Amarillo. She was a former member of Maxwell Avenue Church of Christ in Ardmore and a member of Southwest Church of Christ in Amarillo. She married S.A. Bradford in 1934 at Enid, Okla. He died in 1975. Survivors include a son, Don Bradford of Tulsa, Okla.; three daughters, Betty Osborne of Broken Arrow, Okla., Peggy King of Pampa and Patricia Epley of Amarillo; a sister, Faye Winters of Hennessey, Okla.; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Fifth, with the Rev. Ronnie Tucker of Friendship Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Elgin was born in Paris, Texas, moving to Amarillo 55 years ago. She was a homemaker and member of Friendship Baptist Church. She married Donald Eugene Elgin in 1950 at Clovis, N.M. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Rose Wilson of Amarillo; three sons, Donald Maloy Elgin, Larry Dale Elgin and Arthur Lee Elgin, all of Amarillo; and six grandchildren. Mrs. Brotherton was born in Canyon where she graduated from Canyon High School in 1943. In 1947, she received her bachelor's degree in education from West Texas State University. Mrs. Brotherton was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Beta Sigma Phi, University Study Club and Panhandle 56 Villagers, a "Lighted House" club. She married Robert B. Brotherton in 1947 at Canyon. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1998 and by a daughter, Susan Lynn Brotherton, in 1949. Survivors include a son, Robert B. Brotherton Jr. of Fort Worth; a daughter, Lynda Rhea Bean of Harker Heights; a sister, Neva Walker of Mesa, Ariz.; and five grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, Oct. 15, 1999 William Roland Bennet ARLINGTON - William Roland Bennet, 75, died Monday, Oct. 11, 1999. Services were at 2 p.m. Thursday at Laurel Land Chapel in Dallas. Mr. Bennet was born in Breckenridge and was a former resident of St. Vrain, N.M. He graduated in 1942 from Melrose High School at Melrose, N.M. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Field Road Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mary Frances; two sons, Terry of Dallas and Wendell of Grand Prairie; a sister, Gwinn Street of Weatherford; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Amarillo Daily News, Oct. 15, 1999 Deborah Lynn Mathis Redd LUBBOCK - Deborah Lynn Mathis Redd, 41, died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in First Christian Church Chapel, 2323 Broadway, with Dr. Micael Passmore officiating. Cremation and arrangements are by Chapel of Angels Funeral Home of Lubbock. Mrs. Redd was born in Amarillo where she attended Amarillo High School. She moved to Lubbock 20 years ago where she was a computer consultant and a restaurant manager. She was a graphic artist and interior designer. Survivors include a son, Jason Elliott Redd of Lubbock; her parents, Lynda Dowty of Amarillo and Gene Mathis of Lubbock; three sisters, Donna Salter, Darla Mathis, both of Amarillo, and Dana Pierson of The Colony. Amarillo Daily News, Oct. 15, 1999 Oklahoma Ronald H. Hollowell BOISE CITY, Okla. - Ronald H. Hollowell, 78, died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Cimarron Mortuary Chapel with Frank Lynch and the Rev. Archie Cooper officiating. Burial will be in Baker Cemetery in Texas County. Mr. Hollowell was born in Midwell and raised around the Eva community. He attended grade school at Baker and White Hall then went to high school at Texhoma. During World War II, he served in the 14th Armored Replacement Battalion and was stationed at Fort Knox, Ky. His basic training was at Fort Sill. After his discharge, Mr. Hollowell returned to Eva where he worked for Cecil Long until 1945. He then moved to Boise City and was employed by Cox Farm Equipment before working for the Oklahoma State Highway Department. In 1983, he retired after 37 years. Mr. Hollowell had been a member of New Life Pentecostal Church since 1950. He also participated in the Senior Citizens Center. He married Ruth Tosh in 1945 at Clayton, N.M. Survivors include his wife; a son, Gary Hollowell of Mission, Texas; a daughter, Donna Hamm of Jefferson City, Mo.; and three grandchildren. The family suggest memorials be to the New Life Pentecostal Holiness Church or a favorite charity which may be left in care of the mortuary. Amarillo Daily News, Oct. 15, 1999 Donna Sue Rex WEATHERFORD, Okla. - Donna Sue Rex, 39, died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Emmanuel Baptist Church with Brother George Bryant, Brother Alan Quigley and Rick Meyer officiating with eulogy by Linda Chase. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. in Wheeler County Cemetery in Wheeler, Texas by Lockstone Funeral Home of Weatherford. Mrs. Rex was born in Fort Worth and was raised in Stinnett and Wheeler, Texas. She graduated from Wheeler High School where she played in the band. She then worked for Kent Sims and the Wheeler Abstract Office. She moved to Weatherford where she was employed as a secretary for the City of Weatherford Water Department. She also was a secretary for attorneys in the area. She was active in the Emmanuel Baptist Church. Her first marriage was to Bradley Bradstreet in the late 1970s. She later married Tim Zimmel. Her third marriage was to A.J. Rex of Spearman, Texas who preceded her in death. Survivors include two sons, Chris Bradstreet of Weatherford and Kevin Zimmel of Borger; and her parents, Herman and Norma Lowery of Elk City.
