The family will be at 4320 Canyon Drive No. C-28. George H. Mudgett George H. Mudgett, 95, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, July 13, 1999. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Memory Gardens Mausoleum Chapel with Windell Taylor, chaplain at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, 315 E. Fifth Ave. Mr. Mudgett was born in Princeton, Minn., and was a dairyman most of his life. He moved to Amarillo four years ago. He married his wife, Mabel, in 1928. She died in 1997. Survivors include a son, Dale Mudgett of Amarillo; two daughters, Gretchen Carlson of Milaca, Minn., and Sandy Classen of Alvin; 17 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. Gerita Davis Gerita Davis, 39, of Amarillo, died Saturday, July 10, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Mount Zion Baptist Church, 118 S. Van Buren, with the Rev. James L. Collins, pastor, and the Rev. Howard Romaine, pastor of New Zion Baptist Church in Borger, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Warford-Walker Mortuary, 509 N. Hughes. Mrs. Davis was a native of Amarillo, where she attended Travis Junior High and Palo Duro High School. She was a homemaker. Survivors include a son, Jimmy Ray "J.R." Hopson of Amarillo; a daughter, Thais J. Hopson of Amarillo; five brothers, Jeff Hollings Jr. of Temple, Weldon Smith of Denison and Datra L. Hollings, Stanley L. Hollings and Johnny R. Mrs. Moore was born in Hawkins then moved to Greenville. In 1954, she moved to Amarillo, where she was a homemaker and member of Jerusalem Church of God in Christ. Survivors include six sons, Robert L. Gipson of Denver, Jerry D. Gipson of Fort Worth, Albert L. Gipson Jr., Willie E. Gipson and Dexter K. Gipson, all of Amarillo, and Kevin Gipson of Houston; four daughters, Bedell Hicks of Morton, Annie L. Coleman of Fort Carson, Colo., Lois L. Waffer of Greenville; 30 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. The family will be at 1101 N. Madison. Glen Green Glen Green, 70, of Wildorado, died Thursday, July 15, 1999. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Palo Duro Cemetery in Wildorado with the Rev. Bill Austin, a retired Baptist minister, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Green was born in Pueblo, Colo., and served with the Army during the Korean war. Twelve years ago, he moved to Wildorado. He retired as a diesel mechanic for Brucker Truck Sales. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Green, in 1979. Survivors include a son, Noel Green of Pennsylvania; his mother, Floyce Green of Wildorado; two brothers, Alfred N. Green Jr. of Wildorado and William E. Green of Amarillo; a sister, Mary L. Area Annie Yauck Scheer PERRYTON - Annie Yauck Scheer, 84, died Wednesday, July 14, 1999. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. John's Congregational Church at Follett with Woodrow Weidner, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Lipscomb County by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton. Mrs. Scheer was born in Arnett, Okla., and was a lifelong resident of the area. She was a homemaker and a member of St. John's Congregational Church of Follett. She married Sam Scheer in 1939 at Follett. He died in 1998. Survivors include a son, Jim Scheer of Follett; a daughter, Lois Laubhan of Canadian; two sisters, Lillie Yauck and Lena Yauck, both of Follett; two brothes, Henry Yauck and G.F. Yauck, both of Follett; and four grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. Gerald Tracey DALHART - Gerald Tracey, 43, died Thursday, July 15, 1999, in Amarillo. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Hass Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Baird, pastor of Lakeview United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Hass Funeral Home. Mr. Tracey was born in Clayton, N.M., and was raised in the Texline and Sedan areas. He graduated from Texline High School in 1974. He also attended TSTI in Amarillo. He had worked for Case Power and Equipment in Amarillo and for John Deere and International Harvester. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Texline and the National Rifle Association. Survivors include his mother, Peggy Tracey of Dalhart; three sons, Adam Tracey and Jeremy Tracey, both of Amarillo, and Nickles Tracey of Dallas; a brother, Deryl Tracey of Dalhart; and a sister, Cheryl Tracey of San Luis Obispo, Calif. Helen Edna Rahlfs Harman TULIA - Helen Edna Rahlfs Harman, 83, died Wednesday, July 14, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. James A. Lacy, interim pastor, and the Rev. Murray Travis, retired minister, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery by Wallace Funeral Home of Tulia. Mrs. Harman was born and raised in Happy where she graduated valedictorian of Happy High School in 1933. In 1937, she graduated from Austin College. She then taught math in Tulia and Panhandle schools. After her marriage, Mrs. Harman lived in Stratford and Coleman before moving to Amarillo in 1941. In 1943, she moved to Tulia where she was active as a room mother, president of Parents-Teachers Association and band parent in Tulia schools. As a member of First Presbyterian Church, she taught all levels of children and youth Sunday School classes. Mrs. Harman was the first woman to serve on a grand jury in Swisher County and the first woman to serve as elder in her church. She married C. Otis Harman in 1939 at Happy. Survivors include her husband; five daughters, Betty Womack and Pam Edwards, both of Tulia, Patsy Merrill of Shreveport, La., Martha Goff of Dallas, and Mary Beth Hewitt of Gladstone, Mo.; a brother, O.H. Rahlfs of Happy; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Viewing will be until service time in the funeral home. The casket will not be opened at the church. The family suggests memorials be to First Presbyterian Children's Services, P.O. Box 637, Waxahachie, TX 75168. Jonathan Martin CHILDRESS - Jonathan Martin, 15, died Tuesday, July 13, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Johnson Funeral Home Chapel in Childress with the Rev. Ron Fox, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church of Vernon, officiating. Burial will be in Wilbarger Cemetery in Vernon. Jonathan was a student. He was preceded in death by a brother, Brian Martin, in 1983. Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Vivian and Ed Thomas of Childress; a brother, Mark Martin of Childress; and his grandparents, Mrs. and Mrs. Martin of Pennsylvania, Betty Williams of Dalhart and Paul Williams of Hartley. Mollie Butcher Sasser WELLINGTON - Mollie Butcher Sasser, 93, of Waco, died Wednesday, July 14, 1999. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Adams Funeral Home Chapel in Wellington with the Rev. Monte Kreis, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Sasser was born in Kentucky. In 1939, she moved to Wellington from Cheyenne, Okla., then moved to Waco in 1992. She was a member of the Assembly of God. She married Marvin Sasser in 1932 at Cheyenne. He died in 1963. Survivors include five sons, Melvin Sasser and Ervin Sasser, both of Cheyenne, Bill Teakell of Amarillo, Raymond Sasser of Dumas and Joe D. Sasser of Waco; four daughters, Lesie Burkhalter of Amarillo, Dorothy Sharp of Claude, Louise Johnson of Aransas Pass and Delores Phelan of Waco; 28 grandchildren; and 42 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Wellington Cemetery Association. Nora Dragoo Turner McLEAN - Nora Dragoo Turner, 80, died Wednesday, July 14, 1999. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Alanreed Cemetery in Alanreed with the Rev. Quinton Newton, pastor of First Assembly of God of McLean, officiating. Arrangments are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mrs. Turner was born in Manford, Okla., and moved to Alanreed in 1971 from California. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Assembly of God Church in McLean. In 1998, she married R.J. Turner of McLean. Her first marriage was to Richard Dragoo in 1939 at Tranquility, Calif. She was preceded in death by her first husband in 1992 and by a son, Charles Dragoo, in 1991. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Denva Tidwell and Shirley Armbrister, both of Alanreed; three stepdaughters, Bobby Rogers of Rowla, Mo., Jo Ann Boyd of Albuquerque, N.M., and Glenda Carter of Austin; a stepson, Gary Turner of Amarillo; a brother, Elzy Harris of Gold Hill, Ore.; a sister, Anna Huffman of Grants Pass, Ore.; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Michael Leon Stacy SHAMROCK - Michael Leon Stacy, 70, of Abilene, died Wednesday, July 14, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Huber-Benson Funeral Home Chapel in El Reno, Okla., with Don McCurley of Milan, Tenn., and Cottie Tarbet of Shamrock officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in El Reno by Wright Funeral Directors of Shamrock. Mr. Stacy was born in Oklahoma City and was a veteran of the Navy. He retired after 40 years of service with various AT&T entities. He started his career as an installer for Western Electric then was transferred in 1965 to the company's defense department to assist in training technicians in Turkey and Iran. Over the years, Mr. Stacy's other duties included installing transmission equipment for the military and State Department, conducting transmission testing of underwater cables and writing operating manuals for equipment manufactured by Western Electric in Winston-Salem, N.C. Mr. Stacy was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America, Little Theater in Lubbock and Winston-Salem, Masons, Shriners, Yellow House Lodge of Lubbock, the Khiva Temple AAONMS of Amarillo and the Advance Lodge of Advance, N.C. He was a Baptist who was a Red Cross volunteer, a ham radio operator, and a volunteer every year since its inception for the Kathy Crosby Invitational Golf Tournament in Advance. He married Frankie Jean McCurley in 1953 at Shamrock. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Freida T. Stacy-Rose of Wiesbaden, Germany, Star S. Smith of Fort Davis, Tanya Champion of Amarillo and Leah Stacy-Dziema of Longview; and three grandchildren. Hazel Donovan MATADOR - Hazel Donovan, 92, died Wednesday, July 14, 1999. Services will be at 4 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church of Matador with the Rev. Monte Wike, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in East Mound Cemetery by Siegler Funeral Home of Matador. Mrs. Donovan was born in Matador, where she was a lifelong resident and active in community affairs. She served as secretary of the East Mound Cemetery Association for many years and helped organize the Matador Ex-Students Association in 1953, where she also served as secretary. Mrs. Donovan was active in the Women's Golf Association and wrote a weekly golf column for the Matador Tribune. She was a member of several bridge clubs and the Methodist Church. A homemaker, she owned farm and ranch properties. She married R.E. Donovan in 1929. Preceding her in death were her husband in 1953 and a daughter, Rose Carolyn Pierce, in 1990. She is survived by her son-in-law, Carl Pierce, of Lubbock. The family suggests memorials be to East Mound Cemetery Association at Matador. Oscar Vinson SUDAN - Oscar Vinson, 89, died Wednesday, July 14, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Cliff Hargrove, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Sudan Cemetery by Ellis Funeral Home of Sudan. Mr. Vinson was born in Hollis, Okla., and moved to Sudan in 1926. He operated the Gulf Gas and Oil Wholesale in Sudan for a number of years then managed Higgin-Botham Barlett Lumber Co., until his retirement. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He married Thelma Jane West in 1932 at Sudan. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Joy Campbell, in 1994. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Charlene Birklebach of Littlefield; a sister, Verdie Gann of Sudan; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 125, Sudan, TX 79371. Esther Grimes HEREFORD - Esther Grimes, 90, died Wednesday, July 14, 1999. Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in West Park Cemetery followed by memorial services at 11 a.m. in Parkside Funeral Chapel Funeral Home of Hereford with Dr. Tom Fuller officiating. Mrs. Grimes was born in Lincoln County, Kan. In 1928 at Lincoln County, she married James Grimes, who died in 1956. After his death, she went to nursing school and worked at Kansas University and Beloit Community Hospitals in Kansas. After 14 years of nursing, Mrs. Grimes retired. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hereford. She also was preceded in death by two sons, Daniel Grimes in 1931 and Donald Grimes in 1978. Survivors include a daughter, Jo Charest of Hereford; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three greatgreat-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to First United Methodist Church 180 Youth Group, c/o the First United Methodist Church in Hereford. Russell Floyd LOCKNEY - Russell Floyd, 89, of Lubbock, died Thursday, July 15, 1999. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Lockney Cemetery with the Rev. Wayne R. Williams, pastor emeritus of Parkway Drive Baptist Church in Lubbock, officiating. Arrangements are by Moore-RoseWhite Funeral Home of Lockney. Mr. Floyd was born in Lockney and attended schools in Atlee, Okla., and Aiken. In 1923, his family moved from Oklahoma back to Lockney in covered wagons. He lived in Brownfield, Tucumcari, N.M., and then moved to Seminole in 1950. A retired farmer, Mr. Floyd helped build dams as well as raise livestock. During World War II, he was a mechanic in the Army Air Corp. He was a 57-year Mason with the Shallowater Masonic Lodge No. 1279 and a member of Bacon Heights Baptist Church in Lubbock. He married Cleta Bales in 1952 at Loving, N.M. She died in 1990. Survivors include a son, Clifford Floyd of Lubbock; a brother, Marvin Floyd of Shallowater; two sisters, Clifford Goldwater of Lubbock and Doris Kennedy of Beaumont, Calif.; and two grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Shallowater Masonic Lodge No. 1279, 1205 Ave. H, Shallowater, TX 79363. Fay Palmer Holt SPEARMAN - Fay Palmer Holt, 77, died Thursday, July 15, 1999. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Holt Cemetery with the Rev. Beverly Cook officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman. Mrs. Holt was born near Forgan, Okla., and moved to the area from Pampa 35 years ago. She was a lifelong resident of the Texas Panhandle, where she graduated from Stinnett High School. Mrs. Holt was a member of the Gladiola Flower Club, Twentieth Century Club, Holt Home Demonstration Club and the First United Methodist Church. She was a past worthy matron of Order of Eastern Star Chapter No. 721 in Spearman. In 1987, she married Nolan Holt. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Coy Palmer. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Brice Palmer of Benson, Vt., and Michael Palmer of Middlebury, Vt.; a stepdaughter, Linda Jarvis of Spearman; a stepson, Larry Holt of Spearman; two brothers, Elmer Conley of Booker and W.D. Conley of Oklahoma City; five grandsons; and three great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Holt Cemetery Association or Hansford Hospice.
