Survivors include his parents, Alice Woods and Joseph David Hancock, both of Amarillo; a sister, Leticia Woods Binkley of Houston; and his grandparents, Stella Mae Williams and Milton George Walton, both of Amarillo. The family will be at 1114 N.W. 16th Ave. Laura Wood Laura Wood, 97, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1999. Mrs. Wood was born in Birmingham, Ala., and moved to Texas in 1949. She was the owner of Rainbow Cafe. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Rector Funeral Home Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St., with the Rev. Robert Field, pastor of Southeast Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Lindvay was born in Gainesville and lived in Amarillo most of her life. She worked for the Amarillo Independent School District as a cafeteria worker at Amarillo High, Tascosa High and Palo Duro High. She also was employed by the Episcopal Conference Center and was a volunteer at Northwest Texas Hospital. She was a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Edward Lindvay, in 1979, a daughter, Marjorie Mae Handley, in 1983 and a son, Louis Edward Lindvay Jr., in 1995. Survivors include a daughter, Rosalie Romero of Amarillo; two sons, Dennis Ray Lindvay and Gary Dean Lindvay, both of Amarillo; a sister, Irene Paige of Midland; 14 grandchildren; and 20 greatgrandchildren. The family will be at 7306 Woodmont. Canyon Jay Dee Coleman Jay Dee Coleman, 94, of Canyon, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in the Dozier Cemetery with his brother, Leon Coleman of Oklahoma City, officiating. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors, 1700 Fifth Ave., in Canyon. Mr. Coleman was born in Dozier and was a lifelong resident of Collingsworth County. He had been a farmer/rancher all his life. He was a member of the Church of Christ and the Lions Club. He also had served as a Texas Farm Bureau district director. He married Paralee Brock in 1931 at Wellington. Survivors include his wife; two sons, John Dee Coleman and Marion Coleman, both of Canyon; three brothers, John Coleman of Wellington, Jesse Coleman of McLean and Leon Coleman of Oklahoma City; five grandchildren; and nine greatgrandchildren. A homemaker, she moved to Hart in 1974 where she was a member of St. John's Catholic Church. She married Pedro Corrales in 1949 at Cerralvo. Julia May Franks PAMPA - Julia May Franks, 67, died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1999. Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday in Highland Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Mrs. Franks was born in Hallett, Okla., and was a Pampa resident most of her life. She was a former member of Highland Pentecostal Holiness Church. She married J.P. Franks in 1969 at Pampa. The family suggests memorials be to the American Heart Association. Joseph N. Cowen DIMMITT - Joseph N. Cowen, 89, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First United Methodist Church of Dimmitt with the Rev. Ed Freeman, retired Presbyterian minister, officiating. Burial will be in Castro Memorial Gardens by FoskeyLilley-McGill Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Mr. Cowen was born in Clifton where he graduated from high school. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Texas then attended UT School of Law. He was a public school teacher and administer for several years in Comanche and Callahan Counties. Mr. Cowen became a supervisor for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, managing one of the nation's first migrant labor programs in four southwestern states. During World War II, he was an area supervisor for the War Price Administration at College Station. In 1947, Mr. Cowen moved to Dimmitt where he joined Swain Burkett in the abstract business. In 1948, Mr. Cowen opened his own real estate, insurance and loan business, the Cowen Agency, which he sold in 1977. Mr. Cowen served as mayor of Dimmitt and president of the Chamber of Commerce, the Dimmitt's Lions Club, the Old Settlers' Association, the Castro County Fair Association and the Parent Teacher Association. He was elected a Melvin Jones Fellow in Lions International. He was elected the Castro County Democratic Party chairman for many years and served on the district and state executive committees. He was a delegate to many state Democratic conventions and to the national convention in Chicago in 1956. He was a charter member of the Presbyterian Church in Dimmitt. He married Alice Hamilton in 1939 at Austin. Survivors include his wife; a son, Joseph H. Cowen of Beeville; a brother, Judge Wilson Cowen of Washington, D.C.; two grandsons; and a great-granddaughter. Lee Andrew Campbell FLOYDADA - Lee Andrew "Bob" Campbell, 90, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Floydada Cemetery with Doug Rainbolt, minister of City Park Church of Christ, officiating. Arrangements are by Moore-Rose-White Funeral Home of Floydada. Mr. Campbell was born in Wheelock where he attended schools. In 1942, he moved to Floydada from Marquez. He retired as a farmer and self-employed truck driver. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge. He married Gertie White in 1928. She died in 1984. Survivors include four sons, Lee Andrew Campbell Jr. of Oklahoma City, Raymond Campbell of Tyler, John E. Campbell of Floydada and James Campbell of Lubbock; seven daughters, Velma Coleman of Houston, Juanita Price of Lubbock, Mildred Black and Bobbie Minnitt, both of Fort Worth, Carrie Davis of Floydada and Stella Jones and Clarissa Wales, both of Denver; two brothers, Wadell Campbell of Quanah and Theodore Toney of Plainview; a sister, Rachel Jenkins of Floydada; 59 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-greatgrandchildren. Mr. Ramsey was born in Wolfe City and lived in Lakewood, Calif., before moving to Clarendon in 1980. He was a farmer and retired from Bell TelephonePacific Telesis. He was a member of the Clarendon Masonic Lodge No. 700, the Lubbock Scottish Rite 32 degree, the Khiva Shrine Temple in Amarillo, the Al Morrah Shrine Club in Clarendon, Clarendon Order of Eastern Star Chapter No. 6 and the First Baptist Church. His first marriage was to Mattie B. Sain in 1939 at Eldorado, Okla. She died in 1986. He married Opal James in 1987 at Clarendon. Survivors include his wife; a son, Donald R. Ramsey of New Braunfels; a daughter, Barbara Baird of Rialto, Calif.; four stepdaughters, Wanda Nichols of Clarendon, Vikki Laxson and Janis Hedger, both of Amarillo, and Kathy Baird of Abilene; two sisters, Loveta Holland of Batista, Okla., and Juanita Fesmire of Bermuda Dunes, Calif.; three grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; and 14 greatgrandchildren. Arrangements will be by Gililland-Watson Funeral Home of Hereford. Mr. Bean was born in Missouri and moved to Deaf Smith County in 1950 from Amarillo. He was a farmer and mechanic for Deaf Smith County before his retirement. He married Etta Mae Morris in 1936 at Brinkley, Ark. She died in 1996. Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie Hutson of Little Rock, Ark., and Juanita Koetting of Hereford; several halfbrothers and sisters; six grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 14 step-great-grandchildren.
