No services are scheduled. Cremation and arrangements were handled by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Baker was born in Grandview, Wash., and moved to Amarillo in 1961 from Garden City, Kan. He had worked as a real estate broker in Denver for 25 years. He married Mary Welna Lindsey in 1937 at Denver. She died in 1975. Survivors include a daughter, Jo Ann Hass of Amarillo; a sister, Ruby Oberheim of Garden City; a grandson; and two great-grandchildren. The body will not be available for viewing. Amarillo Daily News, Dec. 17, 1999 Tommy Leslie Bowles Tommy Leslie Bowles, 68, of Amarillo, died Monday, Dec. 13, 1999. Private family services were held. Arrangements were by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Bowles was born in Amarillo. He retired in 1975 from the Army after 24 years of active duty. He had served in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He received the Good Conduct Medal, six awards; the Korean Service Medal; National Defense Service Medal, 2d award; United National Service Medal w/ bronze service star; Mechanics Badge; Aircraft Crewmans Badge; Vietnam Service Medal; Bronze Star Medal, 2d award; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device; Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation, 2 awards; Six Overseas Service Bars; Expert Qualification Badge w/Rifle Bar; Army Commendation Medal; and Technical Service Medal, 2nd class. After returning to Amarillo, he worked as a diesel mechanic specialist with Brown Pontiac and also at Panhandle Transmission. Survivors include his wife, Linda. The family requests memorials be to the Dialysis Specialists Helping Hands Fund. Amarillo Daily News, Dec. 17, 1999 Florence M. Taylor Florence M. Taylor, 81, of Amarillo, died Monday, Dec. 13, 1999. Prayer service will be at 6:30 p.m. today in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Mary's Chapel. Memorial service will be at noon Saturday in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Mary's Chapel with Father Ken Keller officiating. Cremation will be by Memory Gardens Crematory. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mrs. Taylor was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., and moved to California in 1952. She then moved to Amarillo. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kessel D. Taylor, in 1986. Survivors include three daughters, Mary Kay Mullane and Eileen Battle, both of Amarillo, and Lynn Vadon of Napa Valley, Calif.; a sister, Margaret Pietrone of Pittsburgh, Pa.; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, Dec. 17, 1999 Gene L. Ellis Gene L. Ellis, 59, of Adrian, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1999. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, Pioneer Chapel, 2615 Paramount Blvd., with Kenneth Tidmore officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Amistad Cemetery in Amistad, N.M. Mr. Ellis was born and raised in Amistad where he graduated from high school in 1958. In 1961, he moved to Clayton, N.M., and was foreman for Beckner Feed Lot. He then moved to Dalhart where he worked on the Finch Ranch and Sam Singleton Ranch. From 1966 until 1972, Mr. Ellis was a foreman on the Sam Whitesides Ranch in Hayden, N.M. He moved to Adrian and was foreman on the J.S. Bridwell Ranch. He was a member of the Hayden Roping Club and Amistad Methodist Church. He married Ethel Reid in 1961 at Tucumcari, N.M. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Rodney Eynn Ellis of Dalhart, Jeffrey Eugene Ellis of Roswell, N.M., and Trenton Todd Ellis of Dumas; a daughter, Stanlyn Dawn Wooten of Tucumcari; three sisters, Emma Lee Medlock of Lorenzo, Doris McAfee of Clarendon and Vera Dawn Perschbacker of Durant, Okla.; three brothers, Richard Ellis of Hereford, Dale Ellis of Amistad and Doug Ellis of San Jon, N.M.; and nine grandchildren. Arrangements are by Golden Gate Mortuary, 1416 N. Hughes. Mr. Scott was born in Rockdale and moved to Amarillo in 1989 from Slaton. He served 19 years in military service. Survivors include a stepdaughter, Minnie Devereaux of Amarillo; a stepson, Cecil Devereaux of Amarillo; 20 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The family will be at 2116 Columbine St. Amarillo Daily News, Dec. 17, 1999 Oklahoma Morgan William Eddleman Jr. OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Morgan William "Bud" Eddleman Jr., 72, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1999. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Christ the King Catholic Church by Smith & Kernke Funeral Directors. Mr. Eddleman was born in Ardmore. He graduated from Bartlesville High School in 1945 before entering Southwestern University as part of the Navy V5 pilot training program during World War II. He graduated with a degree in geological engineering from the University of Oklahoma in 1950, where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity and the ROTC. He served as a first lieutenant with the 158th Field Artillery Battalion of the 45th Infantry Division, as a forward observer in Korea during the war. He worked in oil exploration with City Service Oil Co., at Bartlesville, Okla., Olney, Ill., and Great Bend, Kan. Mr. Eddleman also worked for Parker Petroleum at Ponca City. After working for El Paso Natural Gas Co. in Amarillo, he became a consulting geologist and formed his own exploration and production company. He was a member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, the Oklahoma City Geological Society, the Kansas Geological Society, and the Amarillo Geological Society. He was a member of the Society of Independent Professional Earth Scientists. He married Thalia Welborn in 1958 at Ponca City. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Anne Doll of New York City; three sisters, Ernestine Ruggiers and Ruth Loeffler, both of Norman, Okla., and Marianne Biddick of Ardmore; and a brother, Robert C. Eddleman of Houston, Texas. The family requests memorials be to Christ the King Catholic Church or a favorite charity. Amarillo Daily News, Dec. 17, 1999 Mary Ellen Cost ANADARKO, Okla. - Mary Ellen Cost, 76, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1999. Mass will be at 10 a.m. today in St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Memory Lane Cemetery by Steverson Funeral Home of Anadarko. Mrs. Cost was born in Apache and moved to Fort Sill when she was in high school. At Lawton High School, she participated in the glee club and band. She graduated in 1940 then attended Cameron College. During World War II, she worked as a dental hygienist at Fort Sill. After the war, she moved to Anadarko where she worked in the family business, Stevens and Roberts Real Estate and Insurance. She worked for Western Farmers Electric from 1968 until her retirement. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She married Mickey Cost in 1945 at Fort Sill. He preceded her in death in 1989. Survivors include her son, Steve Cost of Amarillo; a sister, Jo Malon of Anadarko; three brothers, Jim Smith of Corona, Calif., Frank Smith of Houston and Tony Smith of Tennessee; and a grandson. Amarillo Daily News, Dec. 17, 1999 Elsewhere Veneata Mae Lanham COLEMAN - Veneata Mae Lanham, 72, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1999, at Abilene. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Stevens Funeral Home with the Rev. Floyd Leverton, the Rev. E.R. Givens and the Rev. A.L. Barton officiating. Burial will be in Coleman Cemetery. Mrs. Lanham was born and raised in Council Grove, Kan. She attended school in Council Grove. She lived in towns in Kansas, West Texas and New Mexico, where her husband pastored United Pentecostal churches. They had lived in Coleman several times, returning there in 1993. She was a homemaker and a member of United Pentecostal Church. She married Elliott R. Lanham in 1944 at Emporia, Kan. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Delores Mae Lanham in 1959. Survivors include her husband; two sons, James Lanham of Gatesville and John Lanham of Lamesa; two daughters, Barbara Stewart of Amarillo and Gail Morgan of Plainview; a sister, Camilla Haynes of Edgewater Park, N.J.; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Amarillo Daily News, Dec. 17, 1999 Area Lillian Brown PLAINVIEW - Lillian "Doc" Brown, 90, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. Travis Hart, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home. Mrs. Brown was born in Itasca and moved to Seymore when she was 10. In 1938 she moved to Hale County and lived in the Halfway community for 33 years. She moved to Plainview in 1971. Mrs. Brown worked for Marse & Son and Plainview Floral and completed her husband's term as city commissioner. She had 2,000 hours of volunteer work for RSVP, was a Red Cross volunteer and was a Pink Lady for 10 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She married Burnett "Doc" Brown in 1928 at Seymore. He died in 1971. She also was preceded in death by a son, Dick Burnett Brown, in 1958. Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Vaughn of Tulia; two sons, Dell Brown of Plainview and Tom Brown of Lubbock; three brothers, C.G. Brown of Rialto, Calif., J.H. Smith of Amarillo and Joe Smith of Ruidoso, N.M.; a sister, Lucille Witten of Plainview; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Allen Florer, in 1976. Survivors include her mother, Billie Waters of Borger; a sister, Karen Waters of Borger; and a nephew. Price, 84, died Thursday, Dec. 16, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Assembly of God in Fritch with Darrell Trout, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Love in Westlawn Memorial Park by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors of Fritch. Mr. Price was born in Holdenville, Okla., and had lived in Fritch since 1948 when he moved from Oklahoma. In 1977 he retired as an operator for the Natural Gas Pipeline of America, then became a rancher. He was a member of the First Assembly of God in Fritch where he was a former deacon and Sunday school teacher. He married Reba Frye in 1933 at Holdenville. Survivors include his wife; six sons, Wyndel R. Price and Lloyd "Dale" Price, both of Borger, James A. Price of Amarillo, and Donnie Joe Price, Sam D. Price and Mark S. Price, all of Fritch; a daughter, Darlene Sue Floyd of Fritch; a sister, Zelpha Brown of Holdenville; 17 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. The family will be at 501 S. Sheridan in Fritch. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Church of Christ in Panhandle with Dr. B.R. Eller of Canyon officiating. Burial will be in Panhandle Cemetery by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle. Ms. Eller was born in Pampa and raised in Panhandle. She later moved to Albuquerque, N.M., where she graduated summa cum laude from the University of New Mexico. She taught gifted and talented students at Polk and Taft Middle Schools and was a member of Nethewood Church of Christ. Survivors include three sons, James Arko of San Diego and Steven Christian Eller and Robert William Eller, both of Albuquerque and her mother, Lottie L. Eller of Panhandle. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Wood-Dunning Funeral Home Colonial Chapel with Dr. Max Browning of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park. Mrs. Donnell was born in Chico and moved to Plainview in 1943 from Fort Sill, Okla. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Jr. & Sr. Service League organization and the Hobby Club. In 1992 she received the Citizens Service Award from the Chamber of Commerce for longtime service to the community. She was employed by First National Bank and Norwest Bank of Plainview. She married Landon H. Donnell in 1941 at Lovington, N.M. He died in 1997. Survivors include a daughter, Debbie Terrell of Lubbock; two sisters, Jeanette Davis and Jane Sharp, both of Clovis, N.M.; and a brother, B.K. Myers of Albuquerque, N.M.
