Burial will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Floydada Cemetery in Floydada. Miss Deen was born in Floydada. In 1985, she moved to Amarillo from Albuquerque, N.M., where she taught English and typing from 1937 until 1971. She received her master's degree in 1952. She was a Methodist. Miss Deen was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, an honorary teachers' sorority. A painter and poet, she won first place in 1997 for her poetry entry, "Art is Ageless," in statewide competition sponsored by Texas Association of Homes and Services for the Aging. She served as coordinator of the Scribbles writing class at the J. Paul and Polly Craig Retirement Center. Survivors include two cousins, Maxine Booth of Amarillo and Betty Jane Hubin of Hutchinson, Minn.; a niece, Patricia Walton of Tres Ritas, N.M.; a nephew, Deen Booth of Midland; a great-niece; and three great-nephews. Evelyn Gibson Ripley McAdoo Evelyn Gibson Ripley McAdoo, 92, of Vernon, British Columbia, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1999. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. McAdoo was born in Waco and graduated from Baylor University where she taught music classes while attending school. She taught school in Lavega and worked at First Federal Savings and Loan. A longtime resident of Amarillo, Mrs. McAdoo was a member of the American Association of University Women, Gonna Craft Club and Susanna Wesley Sunday School Class at Polk Street United Methodist Church. Mrs. McAdoo moved to Canada where she lived in Calgary for five years and in Vernon for two years. She played piano for the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Alberta, Canada. She married Emmett A. McAdoo in 1935 at Waco. He died in 1988. Survivors include two daughters, Marian Dressler of Vernon and Martha Stanfield of Amarillo; a sister, Irene Crawford of Amarillo; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Polk, Amarillo, TX 79101. Reginald Downs Reginald "Bud" Downs, 77, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Dec. 15, 1998. Graveside services were at 3 p.m. Dec. 18 in Grace Hill Cemetery in Perry, Okla., with the Rev. Tolbert Dill officiating. Arrangements were by Brown Funeral Home of Perry. Mr. Downs was born in Leesville. An Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he received the Air Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Purple Heart, Distinguished Flying Cross and Campaign Medal with three Bronze Stars. Mr. Downs was a building superintendent in construction. He was a member of the Carpenters Union and was a Methodist. He married Doris Chaney in 1945 at Abilene. Survivors include his wife; and two brothers, Bill Downs of Gouldsboro, Pa., and Quintain Downs of San Antonio. Arrangements are by Colonial Funeral Chapel, 1010 W. Ninth. Mr. Booth was born in Detroit and moved to Amarillo in 1963 from Sioux City, Iowa. He was a custodian for the Amarillo Independent School District until his retirement in 1995. He was an Army veteran. He married Violet Wolfe in 1961. Survivors include his wife; a son, Eugene John Booth of Amarillo; his mother;five brothers; and a sister. Johnnie B. Cravens Johnnie B. Craven, 89, of Amarillo, died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999. After moving to Amarillo, she worked for the Texas Commission for the Blind for a year and then went to work for the Northwest Texas Healthcare Systems where she had been for the last 11 years. She was past president of the American Association of Medical Transcriptionists, past president of a local soroptimist club, a member of Shriners Ladies Auxiliary in St. Louis, and a scout leader for 8 years. She married Harold Ratliff in 1966. Mrs. Allee was born in Green County, Mo. and moved to Amarillo in 1958. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Lyndon Allee, died in 1958. She was also preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Neil Stapleton. Survivors include two sons, Shelby R. Arrangements are by Hass Funeral Home. Mrs. Klahn was born in Dolores, Colo. She graduated from Dolores High School in 1938 and attended Mercy Hospital Nursing School at Durango and Denver, Colo., graduating as a registered nurse in 1941. In 1942, she married Austin Klahn at Durango. They moved to Fort Worth and in 1946 to the Texas Panhandle where she worked as a nurse for Loretta Hospital. They moved to the Pacific Northwest in 1953, and she continued her nursing career, specializing in surgery and obstetrics at Omak, Wash. They returned to Dalhart in 1973. She was a member of the Mothers Club, the Elkettes, Extension Club and St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Marie Tufts of Vancouver, Wash., Charlotte Dazell of Bellevue, Wash., and Patricia Oberg of Birmingham, Mich.; a son, Austin F. Klahn II of Schaumburg, Ill.; a sister, Mrs. Alan Lee of Dolores; a brother, Joe Simmons of Carmichael, Calif.; and four grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to St. Anthony's Catholic School. Andrew Jackson Terrell Jr. QUANAH - Andrew Jackson Terrell Jr., 78, died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999. Mr. Terrell was born in Quanah where he was a lifetime resident. He graduated from Quanah High School. He was a veteran of World War II and a retired master mechanic for Georgia Pacific, Gypsum Division. He was a Church of Christ member. He married Betty Jo Farmer in 1947 at Houston. Mr. Jones was born in Palestine and moved to Paducah in 1984. He worked as a maintenance worker for the Paducah Housing Authority until retiring. Survivors include a daughter, Laticia of Paducah; and a sister, Willie Mae Jones of Odessa. Lee Dent HALE CENTER - Lee Dent, 78, died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church in Hale Center with Gene Meacham, pastor, and Silas Short, minister of the Church of Christ in O'Donnell, officiating. Burial will be in Hale Center Cemetery by Freeman-Abell Funeral Home. Born and raised in Hale Center, Mr. Dent graduated from Hale Center High School. He served in the Army with the 832nd Signal Corps, Team 6. Since 1956, Mr. Dent was the chamber of commerce manager. He was the fire chief for the Hale Center Fire Department for 43 years and the executive director for the Hale Center Housing Authority since 1968. Since 1971, he taught defensive driving. He was involved in youth work through his various jobs. Mr. Dent was a member of First Baptist Church, Lions Club and American Legion Post No. 203 where he was legion commander. For 25 years, he served on the Salvation Army Board. He married Juanita Carmickle in 1946 at Hale Center. Survivors include his wife; a son, Hardy Dent of Lubbock; and a sister, Jean Ballinger of Plainview. Ernesto B. Griego Sr. HEREFORD - Ernesto B. Griego Sr., 87, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in La Iglesia De San Jose with the Rev. Domingo Castillo, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery by Gililland-Watson Funeral Home. Mr. Griego was born in Garita, N.M. and came to Texas in 1938. He was in the agriculture business. His first wife, Cinlia Garcia, died in 1941. He married Dolores Ortiz in 1943. He served with the Navy during World War II and was a retired automotive technician, having taught CVAE and auto mechanics at Dumas High School for several years. He married Alene King in 1946. Interstate 40. Mr. MedinaLopez was born in Chihuahua, Mexico and came to Amarillo in 1996 from Dallas. He was a butcher for Excel and a member of San Jose Catholic Church in Hereford. Survivors include five sons, Felix Medina Jr. of Dallas, Julio Caesar Medina of Longview, Mark Anthony Medina of Hereford, and Richard Alex Medina and Robert Alfonso Medina, both of Guymon, Okla.; three daughters, Sylvia Digiacobbe and Maria Teresa Henderson, both of Dallas and Jennifer Marie Medina of Frisco; two brothers, Ramon Medina Jr. of Hereford and Jorge Medina of Dallas; three sisters, Lucy Cupell of Amarillo and Mary Lou Zambrano and Olga Zambrano, both of Hereford; his parents, Angie and Ramon Medina Sr. of Hereford; and four grandchildren. Mrs. Weaver was born in Claude and lived in Armstrong County all of her life. She studied art at West Texas State University. She was an illustrator of numerous books about Armstrong County. She was a member of the Malden Club, Royal Neighbors, United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Methodist church. Survivors include two sisters, Leota Thomas of Amarillo and Earline Wells of Dallas; nieces Zipra Morgan of Austin and Exxie Bass of Bryan; and nephews Tommy Thomas and James Alton Thomas, both of Amarillo. Burial will be in Groom Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Fields was born in Groom and was a farmer and a rancher for 60 years. He was a deacon at First Baptist Church, past master of Masonic Lodge in Groom, and a school board member of Grandview School District. He married Shirley Ann Anglin in 1949. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Debbie K. Ollinger of Groom; three sons, Billy Keith Fields, Ronny Dale Fields and Barry Wayne Fields, all of Groom; two sisters, Annalou Cline of Amarillo and Mary Margaret Brooks of Groom; and 11 grandchildren. Burial will be in Crane County Cemetery by Richard W. Box Funeral Home of Crane. Mrs. Lowe was born in Rule, graduated from Crane High School and attended Abilene Christian College. She worked for ARCO both in Midland and in Dallas as a data control analyst for 21 years prior to her retirement in 1985. She was a member of Skillman Church of Christ in Dallas. She married Paul Lowe Jr. in 1954. He died in 1988. Survivors include two sisters, Catherine Elaine Neill of Canyon, Patricia Ruth Ochoa of Houston; and a brother, August Plate of Houston. Oklahoma Orris L. Gross OWASSO, Okla. - Orris L. "Bud" Gross, 65, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1999. Memorial services were Friday in Mowery Funeral Service Chapel with Ed Alsup, chaplain, officiating. Mr. Gross was born in Carlsbad, N.M., and raised in Texas where he graduated from Canadian High School in 1952. He received his bachelors degree in accounting from Texas Tech University in 1956. In 1958, Mr. Gross became a licensed certified public accountant and worked with Joe W. Robert, CPA in Lubbock, Texas. He then had his own firm from 1964 until 1977 when he moved to Saudi Arabia to work in various hospitals. After 10 years as controller/CPA for Starlight Village in Center Point, Texas, he retired in 1996. He moved to Owasso in October. Mr. Gross was a member of Texas Association of Hospital Financial Administration, Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, San Antonio Chapter Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Texas Tech Alumni Association. He married Sandra Johnston of Canadian in 1955. Survivors include two sons, Blake Gross of Owasso and Brian Gross of Sand Springs; his mother, Mary Conatser of Tulsa; and three grandchildren. Alpha M. Arnold Evans GUYMON, Okla. - Alpha M. Arnold Evans, 88, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. todayin Henson-Novak Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jim Fox and the Rev. Billy Martin, minister of Assembly of God, officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery. Mrs. Evans was born and raised near Hardesty and attended Meadowview School. She married James Arnold in 1929 at Guymon. He died in 1982. They farmed and ran cattle in Hardesty then later moved to Guymon. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Guymon. She married Richard Evans in 1987. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Duronda, and a son, Butch. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Anna Maye Sowa of Sunnyside, Wash.; two sons, Jim Arnold Jr. of Littleton, Colo., and Danny Manning of Laverne; two sisters, Goldie Stump of Guymon and Vera Paries of Delta, Colo.; a brother, Dean Randles of Hardesty; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Elsewhere Ruby May Wilson AMHERST - Ruby May Wilson, 88, formerly of Bovina, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999. Services were at 10 a.m. Saturday in Hammons Funeral Chapel in Amherst with the Rev. Willis Blair, retired Baptist minister of Sudan, officiating. Graveside services were at 2 p.m. in the Bovina Cemetery in Bovina. Mrs. Wilson was born in Nash, Okla. After her marriage, she moved to Bovina where she and her husband farmed. She was a homemaker, charter member of First United Methodist Church in Bovina and member of the Dorcas Circle of the church. She married Frank Wilson in 1928 at Nash. He died in 1966. Survivors include two daughters, Delores Carter of Amherst and Carolyn Foster of DeKalb; a sister, Doris Wilson of Bovina; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Corman Lorene Voyles POST - Corman Lorene Voyles, 92, died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999. A worship service will be at 3 p.m. todayin Hudman Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Darryl Smith, pastor of First Baptist, Post, officiating. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church in Silverton with the Rev. Melvin Rowell of Sour Lake, nephew, officiating. Burial will be in Silverton Cemetery by the funeral home. Mrs. Voyles was born in San Saba County, moved to Lubbock from Knox County in 1942 and had lived and worked in Tahoka and Big Spring. She moved to Post from Silverton in 1987. She was retired from Furr's Cafeterias, having worked at the Town and Country location in Lubbock for a number of years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Post. She married Alton Theodore Voyles in 1924. He died in 1957. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Alta Pearl in 1933 and Charlsie Maxine Alvord in 1946. Survivors include a son, Rex D. Voyles of Hobbs, N.M.; three daughters, Lilian Faye Mann of Dublin, Joyce Reber of Houston and Pat Burnett of Post; two brothers, Lowell Rowell of Sour Lake, and Aubrey Rowell of Silverton; a sister, Laverne Mercer of Silverton; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. The family suggests in lieu of flowers that memorials be to Garza County Meals on Wheels, or to Family Hospice of Lubbock. Ruby Fausset DARROUZETT - Ruby Fausset, 86, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Scott Richards officiating. Burial will be in Darrouzett Cemetery by Good Samaritan Funeral Service of Booker. Mrs. Fausset was born in Beaver County, Okla. and attended North Fork country school, the high school at Forgan, and graduated from Darrouzett High School in 1931. She was a charter member of United Methodist Church in Darrouzett and of the Women's Society of Christian Service, where she served as president. She married Alfred Fausset in 1934. He died in 1972. Survivors include two daughters, Wilma Rae Hargrove of Hurst and Maureen Hill of Leesville, S.C., a sister, Ruth Robins of Darrouzett; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. New Mexico Harold H. Owen TUCUMCARI, N.M. - Harold H. Owen, 72, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church of Tucumcari with Fred Caton and Richard Bull officiating. Burial will be in the family plot at Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery by Dunn Funeral Home. Mr. Owen was born in Plain, N.M. He began operation of Owen Wrecking when he moved to Tucumcari in 1957 and was a self-employed licensed dirt contractor and heavy equipment operator until his death. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the Navy Sea Bees. He was president of Men's Brotherhood of First Baptist Church, a member of the church and of Gideons International. Survivors include his wife, Ann; a son, Larry Owen of El Paso, Texas; four daughters, Janis Carroll of El Paso, Leslie Owen of Clovis, Dodie Shields of Neosho, Mo. and Toni Wilson of Tucumcari; his mother, Viola Gilmore of Albuquerque; a sister, Carolyn Percival of Grand Junction, Colo.; two brothers, Stanley Owen of Forrest and John Gilmore of Albuquerque; 16 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Mabel Virginia Clark CLOVIS, N.M. - Mabel Virginia Clark, 85, died Friday, Jan. 15, 1999. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in First Church of Nazarene with the Rev. Ed Abla officiating. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens by Muffley Funeral Home. Mrs. Clark was born in Artesia and moved to Clovis in 1936. She was a homemaker, a past member of the Toastmasters International, Girl Scout leader and member of Christian Church of Clovis. She married Murray Clark in 1934. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Paulette Poc. Survivors include a son, James Dudley Clark of Clovis; two brothers, Jess Whitted and Bob Whitted, both of Santa Fe; four grandchildren; and three greatgrandchildren.
