Cannon John R. Cannon, 73, of Amarillo, died Monday, June 14, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Trinity Fellowship North Auditorium. Burial will be at 1 p.m. in Dumas Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Cannon was born in Harmon, Okla. He graduated from Dumas High School and attended Texas Tech University. He had lived in Dumas for more than 50 years and moved to Amarillo in 1987. Mr. Cannon worked for Southwestern Public Service. He also worked for Diamond Shamrock as an electrician and field electrical superintendent for 27 years. He was a member of Trinity Fellowship Church. He married June White in 1963 at Dumas. Survivors include his wife; a son, Mark Cannon of St. Anthony, Idaho; five daughters, Carolyn Harlan of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., Linda Diane Smith of Amarillo, Janet Chamberlain of Winchester, Calif., Dianne Lovell of Dumas, and Teri Oliver of Amarillo; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Margaret Ann Albracht Margaret Ann "Peggy" Albracht, 59, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, June 15, 1999. Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Friday in Central Church of Christ Auditorium. Officiants are Jimmy Evans, pastor of Trinity Fellowship Church; the Rev. Ken Keller of St. Mary's Catholic Parish; and Brad Small, pastor of The Body of Christ at Amarillo South. Private graveside services will be Friday in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Albracht was born in Spencer, Iowa. She earned a bachelor of arts degree in English and elementary education at Marycrest College in Davenport, Iowa, in 1961. She taught second and third grade for two years in Davenport. She married Dr. David E. Albracht in 1963 at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Davenport. She lived in Amarillo for 34 years. She was a member of Trinity Fellowship Church. She was a member of Who's Who among American University Women. In the early 1970s, she served as secretary of the Parish Board at St. Mary's Catholic Church. For several years, she was the secretary of District II of the Texas Chiropractic Women's Auxiliary. In the early 1990s, she served as secretary of the Amarillo High School Booster Club. Survivors include her husband; seven sons, Dr. David E. Albracht Jr. of Marble Falls, Dr. Douglas Albracht of Dumas, Dr. Bryan Albracht of Springfield, Ill., Dr. Brendan Albracht of York, Pa., Dr. Jamie Albracht of Lubbock, and Craig Albracht and Cory Albracht, both of Amarillo; three sisters, Jan McVicar of Broomfield, Colo., Bonnie Berndt of Fort Calhoun, Neb., and Judy Collings of Littleton, Colo.; and nine grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Trinity Fellowship Church, 5000 Hollywood Road, Amarillo, TX 79109; or Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice and Life Enrichment Center, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79176-0001. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors. J.W. Ashcraft J.W. Ashcraft, 84, formerly of Amarillo, died Monday, June 14, 1999, in Seattle. No services are planned. Arrangements are by Beck's Funeral Home of Edmonds, Wash. Mr. Ashcraft was born in Lamesa and had lived 40 years in Amarillo, where he was a small-business man. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a resident of Edmonds at the time of his death. Survivors include a brother, Floyd E. Ashcraft of Edmonds; and two sisters, Fay A. McDonald of Clovis, N.M., and Ina Pearl Bagwell of Pomona, Calif. Mattie Pearl Morris Mattie Pearl "Patti" Whittenburg Morris, 83, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, June 15, 1999. Private burial will be Friday morning in Llano Cemetery followed by services at 11 a.m. in Paramount Terrace Christian Church with the Rev. Jud Wilhite officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia. Mrs. Morris was born in Plemons, Hutchinson County, to pioneer parents George and Lillie Whittenburg. She attended the University of Texas at Austin. Her husband, W. Glynn Morris, preceded her in death in 1989. She was a partner with her family in the Amarillo Times, the Globe-News Publishing Co., Plains Radio Broadcasting Corp. and various ranching investments. Mrs. Morris was past president of the Bivins PTA and the Junior Cotillion Board. She also was a member of the Junior League of Amarillo, Amarillo Symphony Guild, Daughters of the American Revolution and Colonial Dames. She was a member of First Church of Christ Scientist, where she served as Second Reader. Survivors include four daughters, Tennessee Pickens, Catharine Brown, Georgia Mann and Helen Moore; three sisters, Bonne Liston, Helen McCartt and Tennessee McNaughton; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The family will be at 2800 Teckla Blvd. and requests memorials be to a favorite charity. Joan Betke Thomas Joan Betke Thomas, 77, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, June 15, 1999. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Llano Cemetery with Jerry Billington, pastor of Trinity Fellowship, officiating. Arrangements are by SchoolerGordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mrs. Thomas was born in Okmulgee, Okla., and moved to Amarillo in 1962 from Borger. She married Orville Thomas in 1968 at Snyder. He died in 1969. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth A. Steele, in 1969. She was an accountant for H.W. Frey for more than 17 years, retiring in 1988. She was a member of W.I.C.B. Bowling. Survivors include two sons, Roland Posey and Gary Posey, both of Amarillo; a daughter, Sondra Bass of Greenville; a brother, Herman Betke of Waco; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. The family will be at 6200 Hanson, and requests memorials be to the Don and Sybil B. Harrington Cancer Center, 1500 Wallace Blvd., Amarillo TX 79106. The body will be available for viewing today at the funeral home. Clinton Johnson Clinton Johnson, 76, of Amarillo, died Monday, June 14, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Warford-Walker Mortuary Chapel of Roses, 509 N. Hughes St., with the Rev. A.L. Gipson, Area Rose Ann Harris CHILDRESS - Rose Ann Harris, 76, died Sunday, June 13, 1999. Services will be at 1 p.m. today in Southside Church of Christ with B.C. Brannon of Borger officiating. Burial will be in Childress Cemetery by Golden Gate Mortuary, 1416 N. Hughes St., in Amarillo. Mrs. Harris was born in Fannin County, where she also attended schools. She married Mayfield Harris in 1940 in Fannin County. They lived in Pampa a few years before moving to Childress in 1942. She owned and operated a beauty shop and also had worked for Home Health Nursing Unlimited. She had been a member of Northeast Church of Christ for 35 years. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Rhonda McDow of Childress; three sisters, Rosetta Walker of Fresno, Calif., Verdell Jackson of Sherman, and Adale Bateman of Bonham; three brothers, Lottie Brannon of Fresno, B.C. Brannon of Borger and L.J. Brannon of Childress; and two grandchildren. The family will be at 509 N.E. Avenue G in Childress. The body will be available for viewing at Southside Church of Christ from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. today. Bertie Louise Kimmel STINNETT - Bertie Louise Kimmel, 92, died Wednesday, June 16, 1999, in Dalhart. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Church of God at Borger with the Rev. L.K. Lawley, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery in Borger by Brown Funeral Directors of Borger. Mrs. Kimmel was born in Spring Creek, Okla., and had been a resident of Hutchinson County for 58 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Church of God in Borger. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Paul Kimmel, in 1980. Survivors include two sons, Ben Kimmel of Abilene and Bob Kimmel of Portland, Ore.; a daughter, Anna Taylor of Dalhart; 20 grandchildren; 28 greatgrandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren. Theola Hulcy EARTH - Theola "Ted" Hulcy, 87, died Wednesday, June 16, 1999, in Lubbock. Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Earth Church of Christ with the Rev. Tim Pruit, pastor of First Baptist Church in Springlake, and Glenn Branscum of Earth officiating. Burial will be in Littlefield Memorial Park Cemetery at Littlefield by Parsons-Ellis Funeral Home. Mrs. Hulcy was born in Knox County and had lived in Earth since 1946. She married Dan Hulcy in Roswell, N.M., in 1928. He died in 1965. She was a homemaker and member of Earth Church of Christ. Survivors include a son, William Hershell Hulcy of Earth; a daughter, Virginia Pearl Alexander of Wills Point; a sister, Ila Mae Keith of Albany, Ga., and Nancy Grace Hughes of Big Spring; a brother, Bob Farmer of San Lorenzo, N.M.; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. J.T. Barnett TULIA - J.T. Barnett, 86, died Tuesday, June 15, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Davenport, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery by Wallace Funeral Home. Mr. Barnett was born in Van Alstyne. He went to school in Lockney and Tulia. He attended Eastern New Mexico Junior College and graduated from New Mexico State University in 1939. He married Eulah Violet Marshall in 1939 at Dexter, N.M. She died in 1989. He also was preceded in death by a son, Tom Barnett, in 1992. Mr. Barnett taught school in Floyd, N.M., Springer, N.M., and at Tulia High School. He was a dairy farmer for 30 years. He also worked 10 years for the Texas Employment Commission and retired in 1982. He was a member of First Baptist Church and Tulia Senior Citizens. Survivors include a daughter, Sheila Via of Tulia; two sons, Duane Barnett of Abilene and Gary Barnett of Tulia; 11 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. The family requests memorials be to the American Cancer Society.
