No services are planned. Arrangements were by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia. Mrs. Fraser was born in Olwein, Iowa, and moved to Amarillo in 1952. She married James Daniel "Dan" Fraser in 1935 in Iowa. She was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband; a son, Tom Fraser of Amarillo; and two grandchildren. Seventh Ave., Amarillo, TX 79106. The body will not be available for viewing. Don Brown Don Brown, 84, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, March 16, 1999. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Brown was born in Fremont Township near Emporia, Kan. He graduated from Emporia High School and attended Chillicothe Business College at Chillicothe, Mo. He was associated with Santa Fe Railway for 40 years with assignments in Arkansas City, Kan.; Waynoka, Okla.; Dodge City, Kan.; LaJunta, Colo.; and Amarillo. He concluded his career with the railroad as chief clerk in the signal engineering department. He attended Polk Street United Methodist Church. He married Hilda Helen Hall in 1940. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Bill Brown of Denver, Colo., and Alan Brown of Woodward, Okla.; a daughter, Donna Dauner of Fort Collins, Colo.; and seven grandsons. Hanes Jr., 77, of Amarillo, died Monday, March 15, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce St., with the Rev. Raymond Bowlin of Bushland Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Hanes was born in Clovis, N.M., and had lived in Amarillo for 67 years. In 1936, he founded the Amarillo Auto Clinic, which he owned and operated. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of Paramount Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anita Everitt Hanes, in 1996. Survivors include a son, Larry Hanes of Amarillo; two daughters, Connie Wood of San Antonio and Colleen Robinson of Amarillo; five grandchildren; and a greatgrandchild. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1937, New Mexico Military Institute in 1939 and the University of Texas in 1941. He retired as administrator of Texas State Technical Institute. Mr. Lewis was a volunteer for St. Anthony's Hospice and Life Enrichment Program and served on the board of directors of the Maverick Club. He was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church where he served on the Vestry and attended men's prayer group. He married Jane Cox in 1942 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Patti Everett of Houston and Lisbeth Kidd of San Antonio; a brother, Quentin Lewis of Amarillo; and a granddaughter. New Mexico Lorella Elizabeth Day CLOVIS, N.M. - Lorella Elizabeth Day, 87, died Monday, March 15, 1999. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Stan White officiating. Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home. Mrs. Day was born in Clifton, Texas. She married Alvis O. Day in 1932 at Clifton. They moved to Clovis in 1944. She retired after 50 years of working as a licensed practical nurse. She had worked at Clovis Memorial Hospital for Dr. Prothro, Dr. Zeigler, Dr. Curry, Dr. Dabbs and Dr. Thomas. She was a charter member of Westbrook Baptist Church where she played the organ and taught Sunday school. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1994 and by a son, D. Smith Day in 1993. Survivors include a sister, Florrie Burrus of Goldthwaite, Texas; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Webb was born in Irdell. He attended Windy Valley Schools in Donley County, Texas. He worked for 17 years for Santa Fe Railway out of Clovis, N.M., and as a stillman for Phillips Oil Co. for 33 years. He was a Church of Christ member. He married June Webster in 1938 at Claude, Texas. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Kay Oakes of Frederick, and Barbara Waldrop of Round Rock; two brothers, C.C. Webb of Kress, Texas, and Wayne Webb of Ocean Springs, Miss.; a sister, Opal Hartwell of Amarillo; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to a favorite charity. Mrs. B.I. Carter GUYMON, Okla. - Mrs. B.I. Carter, 80, died Monday, March 15, 1999. Graveside rites will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Elmhurst Cemetery followed by memorial services at 2 p.m. in Victory Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mike Chaffin, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors. Mrs. Carter was born in Glasco, Kan., and raised in Geary where she graduated from high school. She received her bachelor's degree in fine arts in music from Oklahoma State University and later attended Panhandle State University. In 1945, the Carters moved to Guymon where they owned the Guymon Ice Plant. Mrs. Carter was an active member of the Victory Memorial United Methodist Church where she served as choir director and was a member of the United Methodist Women. For five years, she taught music at the Unity School and then taught lessons from her home. She was a member of the Delphinium and Jonquil Garden Clubs, Club 18 Bridge Club and was a charter member of the Macombo Club. She married M.L. Carter in 1942 at Geary. She was preceded in death by a son, Fred Carter, in 1991. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Melody Hintergardt of Guymon; two granddaughters; and two greatgrandsons. Sonna Jean Dunn Jones TULSA, Okla. - Sonna Jean Dunn Jones, 67, of Okmulgee, died Tuesday, March 9, 1999. Services and arrangements were by Butler-Stumpff Funeral Home of Tulsa. Mrs. Jones was born in Okmulgee and moved to Amarillo in 1958 after retiring from the Bivins Foundation. She was a member of the Baptist Church and ladies auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Survivors include her husband, Cecil E. Jones; two daughters, Janet L. Brand of Tulsa and Glenda Rose of Sperry; a son, Cecil Jones Jr. of Tulsa; and five grandchildren. Mr. Dawson was born in Mississippi and had lived in Borger since 1942. He was a Marine veteran of World War II and had worked as a driller for E.D. Baker. He married Shirley Reames in 1953 at Clayton, N.M. She died in 1992. Survivors include two sons, Grady Dawson of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Lester Dawson of Abilene; a brother, Cotton Dawson of Borger; a sister, Mary Higgins of south Texas; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was a housewife and a Pentecostal. She was preceded in death by her husband, O.L. Norton, in 1976; her second husband, Clarence Matthews, in 1993; and two sons, Leon Norton in 1996 and Gerald Norton in 1997. Survivors include a son, Billy Norton of San Antonio; three daughters, Nona Compton, Winnie Hayes and Marilyn Meyer, all of Borger; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. C.B. Shackelford PANHANDLE - C.B. Shackelford, 71, died Tuesday, March 16, 1999. He was a member of Panhandle Church of Christ. He married Norma Branum in 1953 at Panhandle. Survivors include his wife; a son, Craig Bennett Shackelford of Panhandle; two brothers, Franklin Dee Shackelford of Pampa and Ed Shackelford of Granbury; and two sisters, Viola Branum of Panhandle and Ruth Hatton of Grass Valley, Calif. Jesse Theodore Cooper Sr. WHEELER - Jesse Theodore "Ted" Cooper Sr., 73, died Monday, March 15, 1999. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in the Wheeler First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Colusa Cemetery at Colusa, Calif., with the Rev. Tom Tripp, pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Colusa, officiating. Arrangements are by McNaryMore Funeral Services. Mr. Cooper was born in Colusa. He was an Army veteran and also served in Marine Corps during the Korean War. He worked for Buck and Willoh Garage in Colusa and later owned and operated Cooper Garage at Leggett, Calif., from 1965 to 1973. He was a member and assistant fire chief of the Colusa Rural Fire Department over 25 years. He was a member of International Order of Odd Fellows and the Rebekah Lodge. Mr. Cooper moved to Canadian in 1973 from California and to Wheeler in 1976. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Wheeler. He married Viola Marie Cox in 1945 at Marysville, Calif. She died in 1997. Survivors include four daughters, Sharon Horton of Wheeler, Karen Miranda of Colusa, Pam Deardorff of Willow Creek, Calif., and Denise Sledge of Yukon, Okla.; a son, Jesse T. Cooper Jr. of Wheeler; 12 grandchildren; and 11 greatgrandchildren. The family requests memorials be to First United Methodist Church of Wheeler or the Wheeler Volunteer Fire Department. Elias Moralez, pastor of the Church of the Living God, officiating. Burial will be in Hale Center Cemetery by Freeman-Abel Funeral Home. Mr. Garcia moved to Hale Center from Alice in 1967. He was a member of the Church of the Living God. Survivors include two sons, Robert Garcia Jr., of Plainview and Ralph Garcia of Salt Lake City; a daughter, Amanda Garcia of Plainview; his parents, Juan and Amelia Garcia of Hale Center; six brothers, Juan A. The family will receive friends Thursday at the Church of the Living God. Shirley Faye Ballard Haines CANADIAN - Shirley Faye Ballard Haines, 52, of Lubbock, died Saturday, March 13, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Christian Church in Canadian with Roger Smelser Sr., officiating. Burial will be in Edith Ford Cemetery by StickleyHill Funeral Directors of Canadian. Ms. Haines was born in Canadian and graduated from Borger High School in 1965 and Northwest Texas School of Nursing in 1968. For 15 years, she was charge nurse at Coronado Hospital in Pampa and then was director of nurses at the Jordan Unit in Pampa from 1993 until 1998. For the past year, she was assistant director of nurses at the Texas Tech Medical Unit of the John T. Montford Unit at the Texas Department of Corrections in Lubbock. Ms. Haines served as DHR for the American Red Cross and was a member and president of Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority. A member of First Baptist Church, she was in the choir and participated in the annual living Christmas Tree. She also performed with the Amarillo Opera in performances of "Carmen" and "Die Fledermaus." Survivors include three daughters, Laurie Leigh Stephens of Rotan, Andrea Michele Partain of Canton, Kan., and Kelly Kristeen Haines Scott of New Iberia, La.; three brothers, Kenneth Joe Ballard of Canadian, Luther Bennett Ballard of San Jose, Calif., and Danny Nolan Ballard of Borger; two sisters, LaJuana Rhea Stipe of Littleton, Colo., and Lela Harris of Pampa; and 10 grandchildren.
