Haney PLAINVIEW - Goldie H. Haney, 93, died Monday, Nov. 15, 1999. Services will be at 3 p.m. today in Lemons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lance Cypert, pastor of First Baptist Church of Quitaque, officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Haney was born in Deering, N.D., and moved to Oklahoma as a baby. In 1940, she moved to Texas with her husband and six children then moved to Plainview in 1949. For seven years, Mrs. Haney owned a cafe on Columbia Street. She enjoyed writing poetry and gardening. She married Buster Earl Haney in 1924 at Roosevelt, Okla. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1981 and by a son, Lavon Henry. Survivors include three daughters, Zola Jackson of Quitaque, Marianne Jack of Paris and Doris Dorsett of Santa Rosa, Calif.; two sons, Gail Haney of Lubbock and Roy Haney of Tampico, Ill.; 18 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Moore was born in Roberts County on the Emmett Lefors Ranch. She was a member of Prairie View Baptist Church in Amarillo. She married Bill Moore in 1955 at Lovington, N.M. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Gerald Moore of Sedalia, Mo., and Gordon Moore of Goodwell, Okla.; her mother, Audry Huff of Pampa; eight sisters, Virginia Horton, Mellvinia Stocking and Monty Schaub, all of Pampa, Norma Mitchell of Geronimo, Okla., Moleta Clark of Big Lake, Judy Grant and Ann Banister, both of Amarillo, and Dian Smith of Aurora, Colo.; two brothers, Rusty Huff of Pampa and George Huff of Happy; and four grandchildren. Jeff Humphrey, minister of education, officiating. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors in Dumas. Mr. Woody was born in Amarillo and was a longtime Dumas resident. He graduated from Dumas High School in 1974 and from Texas A&M University in 1979. For the past 11 years, he lived in Kingsport, Tenn. He was an electrical engineer. Survivors include his parents, Lonnie and Billie Woody of Dumas; a sister, Gayle McMullan of Gunter; and a brother, Tom Woody of Carrollton. The family will be at 814 Normandy in Dumas. Amarillo Daily News, Nov. 17, 1999 Olan Lowe WELLINGTON - Olan "Shorty" Lowe, 83, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 1999. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Joe Martin and the Rev. James McLeod, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Adams Funeral Home of Wellington. Mr. Lowe was born in Wellington and attended schools in Grassbur and Midway. During World War II, he served in the Navy. He was former truck driver. For more than 10 years, Mr. Lowe was a jailer for the Collingsworth County Sheriff's Department. He was active in the Collingsworth County RSVP, a former member of the Wellington Lions Club and was a Baptist. He married Almeda Harrell in 1940 at Graham. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Vona D. Lowe, in 1963. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Burl Lowe of Houston and Harrell Lowe of Littlefield; a daughter, Andrea Wauer of Vega; a sister, Hughetta Roberts of Big Spring; four grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel in Pampa with the Rev. Barry A. Loving, pastor of the First Christian Church of Pampa, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Pampa. Mr. Finney was born in Pampa and graduated from Pampa High School in 1971. He then attended Southwest Texas State University. From 1982 until 1996, he was employed at Boeing Electronics in Dallas. From 1996 until his death, Mr. Finney was employed by J.D. Morris Machine and Manufacturing in Lewisville. He was a former member of the First Christian Church in Pampa. Survivors include two daughters, Vanessa Louise Finney and Alicia Diane Finney, both of The Trophy Club; his father, Leland Finney of Pampa; a brother, Robert L. Finney of Pampa. Burial will be in Edith Ford Cemetery by Stickley-Hill Funeral Directors of Canadian. Mrs. Folley was born in Roberts County and graduated from Miami High School. In 1964, she and her husband moved to Canadian from Gruver. For 16 years, Mrs. Folley was a bookkeeper at First National Bank. She was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star and a member of the First Baptist Church. She married Guy Folley in 1940 at Wheeler. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Rena Carol Johnson of Atlanta; a son, John Guy Folley of Canadian; a brother, Sid Talley of Miami; two sisters, Fern Rankin of Miami and Laura Mae Talley of McPherson, Kan.; three granddaughters; and three great-grandsons. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Texico Cemetery in Texico with Skip Clark officiating. Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis. Mr. Harpold was born in Texico and was a lifetime resident of Clovis. He served with the Navy until his discharge in 1959. In January, he retired as tile and linoleum layer with McDaniel Floor Covering. He was preceded in death by a son, Edward Lee Harpold. Survivors include a son, William Frank Harpold of Hawthorne, Nev.; a daughter, Leila Harpold of Clovis, N.M.; two brothers, Frank Jeffrey Harpold and Mike Smith, both of Clovis; two sisters, Jerry Helm of Deming and Dodie Crawford of Clovis; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Cremation arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Evans was born in San Angelo and had lived in Amarillo on and off for many years. For the past five years, he lived in Amarillo. He was a former member of Khiva Shrine Temple in Amarillo and Arabian Shrine Temple in Houston. He also was an active bowler in Houston. Mr. Evans was a former member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Amarillo and Bellaire Presbyterian Church in Houston. He was active in the choirs at Westminster Presbyterian Church and Lake Kiowa Non-denominational Church. He married Marie Murr in 1948 at Amarillo. She died in 1987. Survivors include a son, Walter Evans of Houston; a daughter, Rebecca Evans Anton of Houston; and a sister, Yvonne Winkler of Port Neches. She was preceded in death by a son, Tommy Lamberson, in 1993. Services were at 11 a.m. Nov. 10 in the Antlers First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Homer Wesley Refuerzo, Bob Settles and Keith Adamson officiating. Burial was in Antlers Cemetery by Mills & Coffey Funeral Home. Mrs. Killian was born in Murfreesboro, Ark., and had lived in the Antlers area since 1931. She was a retired school teacher having taught in the Pushmataha area for more than 45 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Retired Teacher's Association, United Methodist Women, F.C.E., and homemakers and quilting clubs. She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Logan Killian. Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Ann Adamson of Dalhart; two grandsons; and two great-grandchildren. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m Thursday in St. Peter's Catholic Church in Guymon. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon. Mrs. McElroy was born in Las Animas, Colo., and grew up in Cimarron County where she graduated from Boise City High School in 1960. She received her degree in information management from Wright's Business School. Mrs. McElroy owned Sue's Place for several years. In 1987, she moved to Shawnee, then moved to Flower Mound in July. She was a member of the Catholic Church. Survivors include five sons, Bennie Harris of Yukon, Troy Harris and Orlando Harris, both of Oklahoma City, Danny Harris of Flower Mound and Phillip Harris of Shawnee; her parents, James and Mary Alvarez of Guymon; three sisters, Marcey Burkett and Sara Etherton, both of Flower Mound, and Alice Schwint of Amarillo; a brother, Robert Alvarez of Norman; and 11 grandchildren. Mr. Whittaker was a deacon in the Beaver First Baptist Church. He moved to Corpus Christi a few years ago. He married Bessie Arlan Oneal in 1931 at Woodward. She died in 1991. Survivors include a daughter, Pat Lyle of Corpus Christi; a sister, Mary Frances Crabtree of Austin; and four grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Hanchett officiating. Burial will be in Washington Cemetery, Washington, Okla. Mr. Armstrong graduated from Washington High School in 1940 and was a resident of Norman and Goldsby area for most of his life. He was a self-employed heavy-equipment operator and land developer. Mr. Armstrong also lived in Redding, Calif., and Fort St. James, British Columbia, Canada. He served as deacon and song leader for the Goldsby Baptist Church before moving to Redding. He was a member of the Berry Road Baptist Church. He married Frances Kerr in 1939 at Paoli, Okla. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Bruce Armstrong. Survivors include his wife; a son, Tommy L. Armstrong of Tulsa; two daughters, Sherryl Sandersfeld of Norman and Elizabeth McCoy of Amarillo; two sisters, Lucille Masters of Norman and Katherine Lassitter of Denton, Texas; three grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Lee Welch officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery by Lawrence-Adams Funeral Home of Anson. Mrs. DuBose was born in Longmont, Colo., and moved to Fresno, Calif., as a child. She graduated from Fresno State University. Until her retirement, she was a teacher for the Amarillo Independent School District. In 1992, Mrs. DuBose moved to Anson where she was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Tuesday Study Club, Friends of the Anson Library and was a lifetime member of the Retired Teacher's Association. She married J. Hassel DuBose in 1946 at Fresno. Survivors include her husband; a son, Dennis DuBose of Salem, Ore.; a daughter, Diane DuBose of McCaulley; a brother, Wayne Webb of Jenison, Mich.; and two grandsons.
