Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Memorial Park Cemetery at Dalhart by Hass Funeral Home. Mrs. Willis was born near Grimm. Survivors include a stepson, Fernon Willis of Greeley, Colo.; and a grandchild. Nannie Bell Graves DALHART - Nannie Bell Graves, 91, died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Christian Church with the Rev. Ray M. Guy, senior minister, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Hass Funeral Home of Dalhart. Mrs. Graves was born in Conlen and grew up in the Dalhart-Conlen area. In 1928, she graduated from Conlen School. After her husband's death, she cooked for the Dalhart Independent School District and was cook for a custom harvesting crew, traveling from Texas to the Canadian border. In 1963, Mrs. Graves started college at West Texas State University where she graduated in 1967. She taught in the Dalhart Elementary School until 1976. She was a member of First Christian Church where she taught Sunday School, the 55 Plus Club, the Readers Club and the Texas Retired Teachers Association. She married William Dixon Graves in 1933 at Conlen. He died in 1959. She also was preceded in death by two sons, Keith Lynn and John Campbell. Survivors include a son, Bill D. Graves of Fort Worth; two sisters, Dorthy Milbern of Dumas and Tiny Donnell of Canyon; and nine grandchildren. Joe Bevers WELLINGTON - Joe Bevers, 68, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in First Assembly of God in Childress with the Rev. Alton Belew of Glenrose and the Rev. David Nuckels of Childress officiating. Burial will be in North Fairview Cemetery in Wellington by Adams Funeral Home. Mr. Bevers was born in Lubbock. A veteran of the Air Force, he was a longtime resident of Altus, Okla. In 1982, he moved to Fort Worth, then moved to Wellington in 1989. He was a mechanic for Owens Salvage and a member of First Assembly of God Church. He married Nancy Janece Jesse in 1985 at Fort Worth. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Stan Bevers of Vernon and Mitchell Bevers and Jerry Bevers, both of Altus; a daughter, Carla Guthrie of Altus; a stepson, Billy Bouldin of Fort Worth; a stepdaughter, Sonya Bouldin of Childress; his mother, Stella Mae Bryant of Granbury; three sisters, Anita Gumpert of Weatherford, Pat Arnold of Hurst and Neva Jones of California; a brother, Eddie Bevers of Granbury; and seven grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7 p.m. today at Adams Funeral Home. James Aubrey Woolsey PLAINVIEW - James Aubrey Woolsey, 76, died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1999. Services will be at 3 p.m. today in First Baptist Church of Jayton with the Rev. David Fletcher, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Jayton Cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview. Mr. Woolsey was born in Goldthwaite and grew up in San Saba. He attended school at Slaton where he graduated from high school. He worked for the CCC Camps then joined the Coast Guard after graduation. After his discharge, Mr. Woolsey lived in Aspermont where he was owner/operator of filling stations. In the early 1950s, he moved to Snyder and worked for Industrial Supply and Republic Supply. He moved to Odessa in 1967 and worked for Joy Manufacturing. In 1998, Mr. Woolsey moved to Prairie House Living Center in Plainview. He married Norrine Harrison in 1948 at Snyder. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Cindy Durell Chisholm of Acton; and a son, Larry Woolsey of Plainview. The family suggests memorials be to Prairie House and Family Hospice of Plainview. Flora Louise Sanders HEDLEY - Flora Louise Sanders, 87, died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1999. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church in Hedley with the Rev. Bruce Howard, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Rowe Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Directors Inc. Mrs. Sanders was born in Anadarko, Okla., and lived in Amarillo prior to moving to Hedley 70 years ago. She retired as city clerk of Hedley. She was a homemaker and member of the First Baptist Church. She married Sam Sanders in 1929 at Clarendon. He died in 1989. Survivors include a son, Tracy Sanders of Hedley; nine daughters, Deloris Simpson of Eastland, Tobytha Wiggins of Wheeler, Betty McGuire of Amarillo, Jean Rice of Ruidoso, N.M., and Sammie Housden, Hellen Lindsey, Joyce Woodard, Oretha Potts, and Lillian Fowler, all of Hedley; a brother, Marian Parker of Dimmitt; a sister, Magie Mobbs of Altus, Okla.; 32 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Henry Jackson PLAINVIEW - Henry Jackson, 69, of Quitaque, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Lemons Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Mr. Jackson was born in Hale County and was a lifelong resident of Plainview until moving to Quitaque in 1976. He was a retired custom harvester and a former member of the Elks. He married Zola Fern Haney in 1950 at Clovis, N.M. New Mexico Gene Hale PORTALES, N.M. - Gene Hale, 43, died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1999. Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday in Steed-Todd Funeral Home Chapel in Clovis with the Rev. Gene Anderson and Alvah McAdoo officiating. Burial will be in Mission Garden of Memories Cemetery at Clovis. Mr. Hale was born in East Ely, Nev. He served eight years in the Air Force and was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal of Meritorious Service for his service at Cannon Air Force Base. He was active in the ministry with the Church of God of Prophecy for 18 years and also was a dietary manager. Survivors include his wife, Julie; a son, Stephen Hale of Portales; a daughter, Mary Beth Hale of Portales; two brothers, Roy Hale of Ruth, Nev., and Lynn Hale of Carson City, Nev.; four sisters, Daisy Howse of Ruth, Bonnie Wallace of Ely, Sandy Hale of Sparks, Nev., and Lola Hale of Redding, Calif. Johnny Gonzalez RUIDOSO, N.M. - Johnny Gonzalez, 36, a former Lazbuddie, Texas, resident, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999, at Albuquerque. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Alfonso San Juan officiating. Burial will be in Muleshoe Memorial Park Cemetery by Ellis Funeral Home of Muleshoe. Mr. Gonzalez was born in Lubbock, Texas. He was a 1982 graduate of Lazbuddie High School at Lazbuddie. He was a member of the Catholic church and was a truck driver. Survivors include two sons, John Matthew Gonzalez of Hereford, Texas, and Jonathan Leonard Gonzalez of Ruidoso; a daughter, Danielle Gonzalez of Hereford, Texas; his parents, Leonardo and Isabel Gonzalez of Lazbuddie; two sisters, Lydia Garcia of Houston, Texas, and Anita Gonzalez-Onsurez of El Paso, Texas; and three brothers, Noe Gonzalez of Lubbock, Paul Gonzalez of Odessa and Tony Gonzalez of Dallas. Amarillo Verna Morton Verna Morton, 88, of Amarillo, died Monday, Sept. 13, 1999. Services were at 2 p.m. Thursday in Temple Baptist Church, 3208 S. Van Buren St., with the Rev. Richard Dickerson of the church and Brent Adams of Southwest Church of Christ officiating. Burial was in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia. Mrs. Morton was born in View and had lived in Amarillo for more than 35 years. For 10 years, she was employed at Fashion Corner. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church and Naomi Sunday School Class. She married Rufus "R.E." Morton in 1926 at Buffalo Gap. He died in 1975. Western St., Amarillo, TX 79118; or a favorite charity. Z.D. Blaine Z.D. Blaine, 79, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1999. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Blaine was born in Waurika, Okla., and had lived in Amarillo for 50 years. He was an Army veteran, having served in Germany. He was a plumber and had been a chief city plumbing inspector for the City of Amarillo. He was a member of the Texas State Association of Plumbing Inspectors where he served as president in 1981. Mr. Blaine was a member of San Jacinto United Methodist Church and the Wesley Comrades Sunday School Class. He married Martha Jo Shearer in 1941 at Mayfield, Okla. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Naomi Burnett of Arlington; and a grandson. Nard Cazzell Nard Cazzell, 86, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Sept. 11, 1999. Memorial services will be at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in Liberty Church, 200 Tascosa Road, with the Rev. Brent Knudtson officiating. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Cazzell was born in Amarillo and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1933. He spent a year at Texas A&M before joining the Navy. In 1946, he purchased a trampoline and donated it to the Amarillo Maverick Boys Club. After learning the trampoline, he began his teaching career with six students. In 1954, he and his wife, opened Nard's Gymnastics School, which he operated for more than 30 years. In 1960, he purchased the Amarillo Kart Kourse, a half-mile road-course facility for go-carts. Mr. Cazzell was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Amarillo Executive Club. He also was a member of the Gymnastics Association of Texas Hall of Fame, and was the 111th inductee into the Panhandle Sports Hall of Fame in 1997. He married Helen "Sis" Hamilton in 1939 at Amarillo. She died in 1987. Survivors include a daughter, Vicki Nichols of Amarillo; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Hughes St. Mr. Packer was born in Lower Peachtree, Ala., and was raised in Amarillo. He attended North Heights Elementary School, Sam Houston Middle School and graduated from Tascosa High School in 1976. He was employed by Larry's Fence Co., and was a Baptist. Survivors include two sons, Joshua and Darius Packer, both of Amarillo; his mother, Elsie Mae Packer of Amarillo; two brothers, Gleno Packer of Midland and Jeffrey Packer of Amarillo; and two sisters, Rosezetta Packer and Rockelle Packer, both of Amarillo. Georgia St. Mrs. Plant was born in Amarillo. She was a homemaker and a Catholic. She married John H. Plant Jr. in 1988 at Las Vegas. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Mark Timberlake of Seattle and Ron Timberlake of Dallas; a daughter, Mary Ann Young of Albuquerque, N.M.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Georgia St. Mr. Green was born in Collinsville and was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Local Union No. 54. He married Lois Curley in 1949 at Carlsbad, N.M. He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Green, in 1995. Survivors include his wife; a son, Fred Green of Amarillo; a daughter, Charlotte Abernathy of Amarillo; his mother, Elsie Green of Amarillo; a brother, Roy Green of Amarillo; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Dorothy Mae Rook Byard Dorothy Mae Rook Byard, 71, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Park Funeral Home, Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Byard was born in Plainview and moved to Amarillo in 1974 from San Angelo. She received her bachelor's degree from West Texas State University. In 1986, Mrs. Byard retired from A to Z Rental. She taught school in Tulia for eight years and taught in Lockney and Plainview. She was a Methodist and member of Plainview and Tulia Order of Eastern Star. She married Royse Byard in 1950 at Plainview. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Rook Byard of Amarillo and Richard Byard of Nevada; a niece, Debbie Reynolds of Amarillo; three sisters, Vivian Suter of Austin, Betty Robertson of Kingsland and Lela Rook of Plainview; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 1 until 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until noon Saturday at the funeral home. The family will receive visitors at 1020 Trinchera St. The family suggests memorials be to American Cancer Society. Elsewhere George K. Knierim BOULDER, Colo. - George K. Knierim, 85, died Monday, Sept. 6, 1999. Memorial services were at 3 p.m. Sept. 10 in Darrell Howe Mortuary Chapel in Lafayette. Burial was in Louiseville Cemetery. Mr. Knierim was born in Floydada, Texas. He attended West Texas State Teacher's College and taught school before attending New Mexico A&M where he received his bachelor's degree in agronomy. He managed an experiment station on a Pima Indian Reservation where he worked on developing Pima cotton. With his family, he went into Aid for International Development where he served in Nepal, India, Iraq, Afghanistan, Turkey and Sri Lanka. He was a specialist advising these governments in irrigation and cereal grains. For his work on Mexican wheat in India, Mr. Knierim received an award. He was a former Mason and an active member of the First Baptist Church of Broomfield for 12 years. Mr. Knierim moved to Broomfield in 1980, to Boulder in 1989, to Brighton in 1991 and then returned to Boulder. He married Beulah Robinson in 1936 at Matador, Texas. She died in 1998. Survivors include two son, Willis "Willie" Knierim of Boulder and Larry Knierim of Broomfield; a sister, Lola Pohl of Matador; and three grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to First Baptist Church of Broomfield, CO 80020. Harold L. Husbands BEDFORD - Harold L. Husbands, 68, died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home of Colleyville. Mr. Husbands was born in Stamford and served in the armed forces for four years. In 1996, he retired as a salesman from J.M. Steel Co. Survivors include his wife, Janice Baumhardt Husbands; a son, Von Husbands of North Richland Hills; a daughter, Cori Husbands Finch of Aubrey; a sister, Carolyn Stallwitz of Dumas; and two grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
