Mrs. Walker was born in Marlin where she attended Dunbar School. She later moved to Quanah where she retired as a housekeeper. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. Survivors include a foster brother, Michael Woods of Quanah; an aunt, Louise King of Fresno, Calif.; and cousins. Faye Smith MIAMI - Faye Smith, 91, died Sunday, May 16, 1999. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Miami Cemetery with Elmer McLaughlin of Laketon officiating. Arrangements are by Stickley-Hill Funeral Directors of Canadian. Mrs. Smith was born in Comanche County. She received her bachelor's of science degree from Texas Woman's University then moved to Roberts County in 1928 where she taught school in Miami and Canadian. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Miami. She married Horace Smith in 1931 at Cheyenne, Okla. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1966 and by a son, John Horace Smith, in 1989. Survivors include a son, Doyle Smith of Pampa; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Charles Shedd PLAINVIEW - Charles Shedd, 47, died Sunday, May 16, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Glenn Clark, pastor, and the Rev. Q.D. Bevill of the church officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Shedd was born and raised in Plainview where he graduated from high school in 1971. He was employed by Delton's Automotive and the City of Plainview. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. Survivors include his mother, Elizabeth Shedd of Plainview; a brother, Harvey Shedd of Plainview; and two sisters, Teresa Harriss of Plainview and Kathy Chandler of LaRue. Martha Hix Hayes CHILDRESS - Martha Hix Hayes, 88, of Odessa and formerly of Childress, died Sunday, May 16, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Johnson Funeral Home Chapel in Childress with the Rev. Jon Crosby of Calvary Baptist Church of Childress officiating. Burial will be in Childress Cemetery. Mrs. Hayes was born in Knox County and moved to Childress at an early age. After graduating from Childress High School, she attended West Texas State University and taught school in Swisher County. For many years, Mrs. Hayes and her husband owned and operated Hayes Grocery and Market. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. In 1982, the Hayes sold their business and moved to Amarillo. She later moved to Odessa. She married Cecil Hayes in 1933 at Childress. He preceded her in death. Survivors include a daughter, Martha Helen Bodiford of Odessa; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Jo Paschel HEREFORD - Jo Paschel, 63, died Friday, May 14, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Herford Church of the Nazarene with Ted Taylor, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery by Gililland-Watson Funeral Home. Mrs. Paschel was born in Hereford. She was a Christian Day Care teacher and a member of the Hereford Church of the Nazarene. In April, she moved to Scottsdale, Ariz. She married Larry Paschel in 1954 at Tucumcari, N.M. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jill Paschel, in 1985. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Devany Ellis of Amarillo; her mother, Leona Sowell of Hereford; a brother, J.B. Sowell Jr. of Conroe; a sister, Lynn Jennings of Arlington; and two grandchildren. The family will be at 131 Greenwood in Hereford and suggests memorials be to the Nazarene Christian Academy. Jo Carol Johnson Marshall CLARENDON - Jo Carol Johnson Marshall, 46, of Cumming, Ga., died Sunday, May 16, 1999. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Friendship Baptist Church in Amarillo with the Rev. Ronnie Tucker, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Amarillo by Robertson Funeral Home of Clarendon. Mrs. Marshall was born in El Paso and raised in Amarillo. She graduated from Caprock High School where she was queen her senior year. She attended Clarendon College and was employed by the Clarendon Chamber of Commerce. For 10 years, Mrs. Marshall lived in Bainbridge, Ga., before moving to Cumming two years ago. She graduated from Bainbridge College and was trained in ARW, CE and CWE literacy at Sanford University in Alabama. Mrs. Marshall was the regional director of Georgia Baptist Literacy Missions. She led literacy workshops in Georgia, Alabama and Texas. She served for five years as director of kindergarten at Morningside Baptist Church in Bainbridge where she taught Sunday School and was church pianist. In Cumming, Mrs. Marshall was a member of North Forsyth Mission where she taught pre-school class. She had served as Women's Missionary Union director and in other church offices. She was pianist at the Blodgett Street Baptist Church in Carlsbad, N.M., and at the Friendship Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Mike Marshall; two sons, Jason Marshall and Ethan Marshall, both of Cumming; her mother, Billie Johnson of Amarillo; and a brother, Larry Johnson of Amarillo. Wood EARTH - Dorothy M. Wood, 82, died Monday, May 17, 1999. Services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church of Earth with the Rev. Bobby Broyles, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Garden Cemetery in Amarillo by Parsons-Ellis Funeral Home of Earth. Mrs. Wood was born in Honey Grove and moved to Earth in 1952 from Fort Worth. In 1983, she retired as school nurse for the Earth-Springlake Schools. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and training union teacher. She married Paul Hammond Wood in 1939 at Lovington, N.M. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1997 and by a daughter, Judy Kay Flynn, in 1984. Survivors include two grandchildren, Matt Sanders of Mena, Ark., and Brad Sanders of Caldwell; and four greatgrandchildren. Mrs. Truelock was born in Olney, Texas. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Gayle Parks, and a son, Gary Truelock. Oklahoma Dorothy Jean Gartung Cawley HOOKER, Okla. - Dorothy Jean Gartung Cawley, 78, died Thursday, May 13, 1999, at Liberal, Kan. Private family memorial services were Monday in St. Andrew's Episcopal Church at Liberal, Kan., with the Rev. Timothy Kline, the Rev. Gretchen GoodPankratz and Bob Judd officiating. Arrangements were by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home of Hooker. Mrs. Cawley was born in Miami, Okla. She graduated from Miami High School and attended Northeastern Oklahoma Junior College at Miami. She later attended the University of Oklahoma at Norman, receiving a degree in dietetics. She worked for Oklahoma University Health Science Center. She married L.P. Cawley in 1946 at Fort Monmouth, N.J. They moved to Hooker in the late 1940s. She was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church at Liberal and worked with the youth of the church. While in college, she was president of Eta Upsilon Gamma, the Student Council, Phi Theta Kappa and Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. Survivors include four sons, Michael A. Cawley of Ardmore, Patrick Cawley of Carlsbad, Calif., Joseph Cawley of Hooker and John T. Cawley of Tulsa; a daughter, Mary Carolyn Knowles of Bakersfield, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Reva Juanita Moore BOISE CITY, Okla. - Reva Juanita Moore, 81, died Saturday, May 15, 1999. Mrs. Moore was born in Hardin, Mo., and grew up in and around Sweet Springs, Mo. She was a housekeeper for families in the Boise City area and for First State Bank for many years. She also worked in a shoe factory while living in Missouri. She married Ralph Moore in 1948 at Clayton, N.M. He preceded her in death. Survivors include a son, Garland Moore of Boise City; a brother, Lemur Meador of Sweet Springs; and two sisters, Dottie Backues and Beatrice Duffy, both of Sweet Springs. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. John Clinton Fesler PONCA CITY, Okla. - John Clinton Fesler, 87, died Sunday, May 16, 1999. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Odd Fellows Cemetery with Dr. Mike Kear officiating. Arrangements are by Trout Funeral Home. Mr. Fesler was born near Kaw City and was raised in the Kaw area. He graduated from Kaw City High School. He retired from Phillips Chemical Company as a labor supervisor in 1967. After retirement, he returned to Kaw City from Dumas, Texas and then moved to Ponca City. He worked at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center as a maintenance technician, retiring in 1984. In 1938, he married Grace Florene Dougherty in Winfield, Kan. She died in 1991. Survivors include a son, William Clinton Fesler of Stratford, Texas; two daughters, Phyllis Sue Potts of Amarillo and Johnita Kay Wolf of Denison, Texas; a sister, Georgia Locke of Long Beach, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and 27 greatgrandchildren. Norman Grigsby of St. Paul United Methodist Church officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Adams was born in Fort Worth and moved to Amarillo in 1921. She attended West Texas State Teachers College for two years and worked as a registered records administrator for several Amarillo doctors. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. She married William Harvey Adams in 1924 in Amarillo. He died in 1939. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Margarett Marie Adams Sandlin in 1982. Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Joan Adams Bartlett of Springdale, Ark., and Biji Adams Kiker of Littleton, Colo.; and seven grandchildren including Suzanne Clarke of Amarillo; and two great-grandchildren. She was a bookkeeper for the city of Amarillo in corporation court. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She married Joseph Petit in 1949 at Holland. He died in 1997. Survivors include three daughters, Monique Kolb and Sam Burns, both of Amarillo and Ninon Hills of Burke, Va.; a son, Etienne "Frenchy" Petit of Amarillo; three sisters, including Christine Sacre of California, a sister in Holland and a sister in Australia; two brothers living in Holland; 13 grandchildren; and a great-grandson. She graduated from Nacona High School and received a bachelor's degree from North Texas State University at Denton. She also received a master's degree from East Texas State University at Commerce. She taught school in Montague County at Tulia and also Amarillo. She was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church and the Gleaner's Sunday School Class. She was a past president of Chapter AI, PEO and PEO Council. She was a member of Zeta Delta Chapter, Delta Kappa Gamma. She was a member of Meals on Wheels Board and the Amarillo Retired Teacher's Association. She married Rupert A. Taylor in 1939. He died in 1985. Survivors include a sister, Juanita Clement of Hollis, Okla. John W. Sexton John W. Sexton, 82, of Amarillo, died Monday, May 17, 1999. Mr. Sexton was born in Blackwell, Okla., and attended Oklahoma A&M University. He had lived in Amarillo since 1953. He was a 50-year member of Pampa Masonic Lodge No. 966, the Amarillo Cat Fanciers Club and the First Christian Church. He married Mildred Catherine Sexton in 1939 at Claremore, Okla. She died in 1985. Survivors include two daughters, Carol Blakley and Betty Shelafo, both of Amarillo; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. John Morris Price John Morris Price, 82, of Amarillo, died Sunday, May 16, 1999. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Ellerflat Cemetery at Prairie Dell. Mr. Price was born in Durham, Okla., and had lived in Amarillo on and off since 1954. He was an Army veteran who served in the Panama Canal. In 1976, Mr. Price retired after 46 years as an engineer with the Santa Fe Railroad. He was a charter member of Tascosa Masonic Lodge No. 1375, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1475 and a former member of Canadian Masonic Lodge No. 855. He married Ruth Corder in 1982 at Tucumcari, N.M. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Barbara Scobey of Austin and Claudine Schuttz Price of Elk City, Okla.; a son, Robert Frank Price of San Antonio; two stepsons, Charles Earl Cade of Commerce and Thomas Henry Cade of Dallas; a brother, Houston Price of Pampa; a sister, Annie Laura Strickland of Cheyenne, Okla.; a stepsister, Mary Holt of Amarillo; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchildren. He was raised and educated in Texas. He joined the Army in 1972 and served overseas in Germany and other stateside posts and was discharged after 12 years. He then moved to Canon City and worked at the Colorado Department of Corrections, retiring in 1992. He was a member of United Presbyterian Church and PERA, the Masonic Lodge and Al Kaly Shrine. He married Sheryl Barnes in 1974 at Littlefield. Survivors include his wife; four children, Kyla House of Levelland, Texas, Chad Landrum of Pampa, Texas, and Misti Landrum and Brandi Landrum, both of Canon City; and a grandchild. William Sterling officiating. Arrangements are by Dalton and Son Funeral Home of Lewisville. Mr. Duncan was born in Amarillo. He graduated from Newman Smith High School in Carrollton and attended the University of North Texas. A drag racer, he received his professional license from the National Hot Rod Association when he was 20. Mr. Duncan was employed by Wide Open Water Sports of Lewisville. He served as technical consultant for Tivoli Racing Boats and Randy Ussery Performance Engines. Survivors include his parents, Ron and Jackie Duncan of Lewisville; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Duncan of Amarillo; and friend, Randy Ussery. Vergil Fields LITTLEFIELD - Vergil Fields, 91, died Monday, May 17, 1999. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Littlefield Memorial Park with Benny Goss, pastor of Sunset Avenue Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Hammons Funeral Home of Littlefield. Mr. Fields was born in Indian Territory. He moved to Amherst from Chalk in 1940. Until his retirement in 1972, he farmed in Lamb County. He had moved from Amherst to Littlefield in 1962. He married Elsie Maurine Dyer in 1929 at Canton. She died in 1991. Survivors include a son, John Fields of Borger; six daughters, Eva Hopping of Lubbock, Nadene Lyles of Amarillo, Gean Craig and Ann Colburn, both of Arlington, Nell Judd of Chico and Paula Hogue of Denton; a sister, Adelle Irons of Abilene; 14 grandchildren; and 29 greatgrandchildren.
