Arrangements were by Ellis Funeral Home of Muleshoe. Mr. Sterling was born in Clarksville and served in the Army during World War II. In 1952, he moved from Muleshoe to Farwell where he was a farmer. He married Viola M. Tharp in 1952 at Clovis, N.M. Burial will be in Blue Mound Cemetery in Balko, Okla. Mr. Clenney was born in Flagstaff, Ariz., and attended Balko and Perryton schools. In 1977, he moved to this area from Balko. He was a truck owner and operator and farmed in the Balko community. He was a member of the Prairie View Baptist Church in Elk City, Okla. He married Ramona Lyon in 1958 at Las Vegas. Coey Sr. PANHANDLE - Melvin E. "Mel" Coey Sr., 60, died Thursday, Dec. 16, 1999. Entombment with military honors by the Disabled American Veterans Ch. 26 were in Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum East by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Coey was born in Chillicothe, Ohio, and moved to Amarillo in 1959 from Reynoldsburg, Ohio. For 10 years, he was electrical foreman for Asarco, then was an electrical foreman for eight years for Zachry. Mr. Coey was a member of First Christian Church of Panhandle. He was an Air Force veteran. He married Marilyn Calendine in 1959 at Reynoldsburg. He was preceded in death by two sons, Martin Coey in 1978 and Jerry Coey in 1995. He was a farmer and member of Good News Church of Hereford. He married Anzelma Garcia in 1976 at Muleshoe. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery by Gililland-Watson Funeral Home. Mr. Bosquez was born in Mosquez, Mexico, moved to Texas in 1925 and to Hereford in 1951. He was a rancher and a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. He married Irene Bosquez in 1936 at Del Rio. She died in 1990. She retired from Amarillo College in 1976 and was the author of "The History of the Grace King Family". She was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Daughters of American Revolution and First United Methodist Church in Wellington. She married Monty Mitchell in 1942 at Houston. Mr. Montgomery was born in Barry County, Missouri, and had lived in Dumas since 1949. He served with the Army during World War II and retired as an operator from Phillips Petroleum in 1981. Dr. Sewell was born in Texola. She married Joseph William Horn in 1925 at Amarillo. He died in 1951. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Paula Jean Horn. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Dunn was born in Amarillo and was a lifelong resident. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1933. In 1935, she was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone as a telephone operator. She was transferred to commercial in 1941 then later became business office supervisor/trainer for the Amarillo district, retiring in 1976. Mrs. Dunn was a member of Pan-Ama Club of telephone retirees. She was past president of Zonta International of Amarillo, past matron of Amarillo No. 787 Order of Eastern Star, Avik Temple No. 710, Daughters of the Nile and Avik Temple No. 70. She held the Grand Cross of Color from Rainbow Palo Duro Assembly No. 19 and was local and district president of Alpha Beta Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha. Mrs. Dunn was a charter member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. She married Earl Dunn in 1953 at Taos, N.M. Survivors include her husband and a sister, Lee Hall of Amarillo. Georgia St. Mrs. Curphey was born in Tulsa and grew up in Bartlesville where she graduated from high school in 1943. She attended Northwestern University and graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1947. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. In 1951, Mrs. Curphey moved to Amarillo. She taught needlepoint at Pettipoint Junction and received national recognition for her needlework. She was a Unitarian. She married George Don Curphey in 1950 at Bartlesville. He died in 1990. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in San Jon Methodist Church. Burial will be in San Jon Cemetery by Dunn Funeral Home of Tucumcari. Mrs. Flint was born on her family's farm near Hammon, Okla., and moved to West Plains, Mo., in 1919. In 1922, the family traded for a farm south of Bard and she graduated from San Jon High School. She attended New Mexico Teacher's College for a year then taught at the oneroom school at Pumpkin. Mrs. Flint and her husband farmed in Bard until their recent retirement. She was involved in Beef Improvement Federation, Production Registry International, American Angus Association, Certified Meat Sires, New Mexico and Texas Angus associations, ASCS County Committee, SCS Committee, Crops and Stabilization Board and New Mexico Cattle Growers Association. She served on the San Jon School Board for 25 years, the board of directors of the REA for 45 years, the New Mexico Constitution Convention and the New Mexico State Livestock Board. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Women's Society of Christian Service where she held state offices, FFA, Cowbells, the Democratic Party and Baptist St. Anthony's. She married A.F. "Frankie" Flint in 1930. Survivors include her husband; three sons, Quinnie Flint, A. Franklin Flint Jr. and Martenia Flint; a daughter, Ora Lee Robbins; 10 grandchildren; and 18 greatgrandchildren. Burial will be in Mission Garden of Memories by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis. Mrs. Noffsker was born in San Benito, Texas and moved to Curry County in 1912. She majored in education at Texas Woman's University then worked for the Bell Telephone Co. Sine 1992, she had operated the ranch her father homesteaded in 1906. Mrs. Noffsker was a member of First Baptist Church where she taught Bible classes including the Ester Class for 20 years. She served on committees, was a member of Women's Missionary Union and Women of the Faith Bible Study. She married W.A. Noffsker in 1946. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1992 and by a daughter, Barbara Shelton, in 1987. Box 193, Big Sandy, TX 75755. Amarillo Sunday News-Globe Dec. 19, 1999 Oklahoma Paul Edward Hardee McALESTER, Okla. - Paul Edward Hardee, 72, formerly of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 1999. Private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory of McAlester. Mr. Hardee was born in Ada where he graduated from high school. He was 17 when he joined the Navy during World War II and served on the USS Shadwell. In 1950, Mr. Hardee graduated from Oklahoma State University with a bachelor's degree in animal science. He received a master's degree from Louisiana State University. He was employed as a county agent for the Richland Parrish in Louisiana. Mr. Hardee moved from Amarillo to McAlester in 1996. He was a retired rancher and member of Cattlemen's Association in Louisiana, New Mexico and Oklahoma. He was past president of the Historical Society of Johnston County, member of the Archeological Society and attended Christ United Methodist Church. He was a Presbyterian. He married Billye Gene Gulley in 1947 at Mount Ida, Ark. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Tandy Gene Getz. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Jessica Newman of Kingston and Lori Ann Hardee of Oklahoma City; and two grandchildren. Amarillo Sunday News-Globe Dec. 19, 1999 Robert Schertler TEXHOMA, Okla. - Robert "Bob" Schertler, 71, died Friday, Dec. 17, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Christian Church in Texhoma with Clayton Crosby, pastor from Leesville, La., officiating. Burial will be in Texhoma, Texas Cemetery by Dawson Welch Funeral Home. Mr. Schertler was born in Hinton and served in the Army during World War II. From 1953 until 1973, he was involved in farming and ranching. He previously lived in El Reno and Grand Island for 19 years. In 1993, he returned to Texhoma. He attended Galilee Baptist Church in Evan, La. He married Delores Cooksey in 1950 at Okeeman. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Debbie Collins of McComb, Miss.; four sons, Rob Schertler of Oklahoma City, Randy Schertler of Pocola, Ronny Schertler of McComb and Rocky Schertler of Red Level, Ala.; three sisters, Grace Bohn of Hinton, Millie Gann of Carnegie and Helen Clayton of Mountain View; three brothers, Bill Schertler of Red Level, Johnny Schertler of Pocala and Harold Schertler of Pecos, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Amarillo Sunday News-Globe Dec. 19, 1999 Kansas Sadie Francis Eyestone ELKHART, Kan. - Sadie Francis Eyestone, 89, died Thursday, Dec. 16, 1999. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church in Keyes, Okla., with the Rev. Jim Cunningham officiating. Burial will be in Willowbar Cemetery in Keyes by Harrell Funeral Home of Elkhart. Mrs. Eyestone was born in Chandler, Okla., and moved to Elkhart in June from Keyes. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Boise City, Okla. She married Wesley Eyestone in 1930 at Chandler. He died in 1977. Survivors include two daughters, Pat Flanagan of Amarillo and Peggy Livingston of Elkhart; two sisters, Faye Key of Siloam Springs, Ark., and Flora M.
