Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Miller, minister of South Georgia Baptist Church in Amarillo, the Rev. Joe Murray, minister of First Baptist, and the Rev. Gene Richardson, Methodist minister, officiating. Burial will be in Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery by Dunn Funeral Home. Mr. Gholson was born in Quay County and graduated from Tucumcari High School in 1948. After 38 years of service, he retired from Exxon Oil Company. After his retirement, he divided his time between Houston and Tucumcari. He was a member of Good Sams Organization. He is survived by his wife, Joan Ward Gholson; four sons, Rick Gholson, Gary Gholson, Steve Gholson and Jerry Gholson; two daughters, Cindy Wright and Melody Coveney; a brother, Sammy Gholson of Tucumcari; and 11 grandchildren. Viewing will be from noon today until 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Oklahoma Ethel M. Ansley HOOKER, Okla. - Ethel M. Ansley, 91, died Friday, Sept. 17, 1999, at Guymon. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Goss Jr. and Eddy Scoggins officiating. Burial will be in Hooker Cemetery by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home. Mrs. Ansley was born in Granada, Colo., and moved to Mount Dora after her marriage to William Doris Ansley in 1927 at Hooker. In 1929, they moved to Adams and in 1964, to Hooker. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Hooker. She was preceded in death by a greatgrandson, Nathan Cooper. Her husband died in 1997. Survivors include three sons, Pete Ansley of Adams, Duke Ansley of Three Forks, Mont., and Elmer Ansley of Woodward; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Elsewhere John Howard Gilbert ROGERS, Ark. - John Howard Gilbert, 81, of Decatur, Ark., died Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Claude, Texas Cemetery with Kent Watson, minister of Claude Church of Christ, officiating. Local arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon, Texas. Arkansas arrangements are by Callison-Lough Funeral Service of Rogers. Mr. Gilbert was born in Claude and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He studied animal husbandry at Iowa State University and owned and operated ranches in Oklahoma, Arkansas and Texas. Mr. Gilbert was a 25-year member of the Panhandle Hereford Breeders, the American Limousine Cattle Association and a lifetime member of the American Hereford Breeders Association. In 1965, he moved from Claude to Decatur. He was an active member of the Gentry Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his wife, Roxie, whom he married in 1942. Survivors include two sons, Clint Gilbert of Decatur and Clay Gilbert of Gravette; three sisters, Hazel Plaster of Canyon, Clynelle Whitman of Ocean Springs, Miss., and Billie Lou Edlin of Odessa; three grandchildren; and special friends, Wyvonne Guthrie of Gravette and Fay Aldridge of Springdale. Cassandra Griffin FORT WORTH - Cassandra "Cassie" Griffin, 14, former Plainview resident, died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Wedgwood Baptist Church. Burial will be in Laurel Land Memorial Park of Fort Worth by Laurel Land Funeral Home. Miss Griffin was born in Lockney and attended schools in Plainview. She was a member of the Little Dribblers basketball program and attended College Heights Baptist Church in Plainview. She moved to Fort Worth two years ago. In Fort Worth, Miss Griffin was a member of Wedgwood Baptist Church where she was active in the youth group. She attended North Crowley High School and played clarinet in the Mighty Panther Band. Justin Michael Ray FORT WORTH - Justin Michael "Stiggy" Ray, 17, a former Amarillo resident, died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1999. Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday in Westcliff United Methodist Church. Arrangements were by Laurel Land Funeral Home. Mr. Ray was born in Amarillo and moved to Fort Worth 10 years ago. He was a student at Cassata Learning Center where he had three classes to complete to graduate in December. Mr. Ray was a member of Boy Scout Troop No. 613 and was voted into the Order of the Arrow. He worked part-time and, with a friend, had formed Seventh Star Production Co. Survivors include his mother, Judy Ray Stiglar of Fort Worth and an aunt and uncle, Cindy and Larry Dockery of Amarillo. Howard McCann officiating. Burial will be in Englewood Cemetery in Slaton. Mrs. Jones was born in Wichita Falls, attended schools in Childress and moved to Lubbock in 1980 from Amarillo. She was a homemaker and a member of Elgin Avenue Baptist Church and Senior Citizens. She married Lee R. Jones in 1971 at Slaton. He died in 1982. Gail Lynn Wilson Rains HOUSTON - Gail Lynn Wilson Rains, 47, died Friday, Sept. 17, 1999. Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Monday in Northwoods Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Rains was born in Pampa, graduated from Pampa High School in 1970 and from Texas Tech University in 1974, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi. Joyce Manon Childers Elwell WICHITA FALLS - Joyce Manon Childers Elwell, 72, died Friday, Sept. 17, 1999. Mrs. Elwell was born in Lockney and for 12 years, was an licensed vocational nurse in surgery. She moved to Wichita Falls in 1969 from Amarillo. In Amarillo, she worked at St. Anthony's Hospital and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star A.E. Shirley Chapter No. 986. In Wichita Falls, she worked at Wichita General Hospital and was a member of the Tenth and Broad Church of Christ and was a homemaker. She married Donald Joseph Elwell Sr. in 1944 at Portales, N.M. He died in 1998. Survivors include a son, Donald J. "Rusty" Elwell Jr. of Amarillo; two brothers, C.W. Childers of Fort Worth and B.R. Childers of San Antonio. Burial was in the Lockney Cemetery at Lockney by Lemons Funeral Home. Mrs. Martinez was born in Mexico and moved to Plainview in 1952. She was a member of San Jose Catholic Church at Lockney. She married Juan Martinez in 1919 at Waco. He died in 1970. Survivors include four daughters, Susie Castillo of Fort Worth, Peggy Felan of Waco, Ora Fraga of Plainview and Maria Regalado of Santa Maria, Calif.; two sons, Albert Martinez of Hargill and Oscar Martinez of Lockney; 88 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Floy Heath PAMPA - Floy "Flossie" Heath, 96, died Friday, Sept. 17, 1999. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Llano Cemetery in Amarillo. Mrs. Heath was born in Delta County. She attended Texas Christian University for one year. She moved to Pampa in 1934 from Amarillo. She owned and operated Heath's Menswear in Pampa for 25 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church. She served on the board of directors of the American Red Cross, served as secretary of the Girl Scouts Association, and was a member of the Altrusa Club of Pampa. She married Mark Amos Heath in 1924 in Amarillo. He died in 1979. Survivors include a niece, Lynn Gwyn of Amarillo; a nephew, Craig Harrison of Seattle; a great-niece; and three greatnephews. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery by Brown Funeral Directors of Borger. A native of Gassville, Ark., Mr. Haugh had lived in Hutchinson County for 57 years. He retired in 1975 after 35 years as master switcher and blender for Phillips Petroleum Co. He was a member of Fairlanes Baptist Church. He married Jennie Morris in 1930. He was preceded in death by a son, Billy Joe Haugh. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, June Henson of Sanford, Melba Snodgrass of Breckenridge, Barbara Thompson of Borger and Marilyn Buckley of Amarillo; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Bessie E. Yeary Megee Giddens ALLISON - Bessie E. Yeary Megee Giddens, 85, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church in Allison with the Rev. Bob Meller, pastor, Andy Taylor and Mike Dyer, both of Sayer, Okla., officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home of Wheeler. Mrs. Giddens was born in Lake Victor and moved to Morton after the death of her father. She moved to Wheeler from the Amarillo area in 1933 then to Allison in 1942. In addition to farming, she wrote poems, children's stories and religious songs. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Allison. Her first marriage was to John B. Megee in 1929 at Clovis, N.M. He died in 1964. She married Carl A. Giddens in 1976. He died in 1986. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Bessie Mae Megee, in 1932. Survivors include a son, G.W. Megee of Placerville, Calif.; three daughters, Lavesta Barber and Arlene Scheller, both of Amarillo, and Fae Davis of Elk City, Okla.; two stepdaughters, Patsy Stinnett of Buena Vista, Colo., and Phyllis Hefley of Briscoe; a brother, Carl W. Mr. Churchill was born in Plemons. He joined the Navy in 1952 and retired in 1975. In 1996, he moved to Pampa from Stinnett, where he had been a longtime resident. He married Judy Clemens in 1949. Lawrence Blandford SHAMROCK - Lawrence "Blaze" Blandford, 84, died Friday, Sept. 17, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Church of Christ with Leland Hudson of Amarillo officiating. Burial will be in Shamrock Cemetery by Wright Funeral Directors. Mr. Blandford was born in Collingsworth and worked for Colorado Interstate Gas for many years before his retirement. In 1950, he moved to Amarillo from Shamrock. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He married Zoella Dorman in 1935 at Amarillo. She died in 1988. He was also preceded in death by a son, Sam Blandford, in 1994. Survivors include a daughter, Janiece Key of Amarillo; a son, Paul Blandford of Amarillo; 10 grandchildren; and 14 greatgrandchildren. In Paducah, he operated a barber shop for more than 35 years and was a member of First Baptist Church. He married Janice Maxey in 1981 at Crowell. She died in 1993. He married Carolyn Grant in 1997 at Paducah. Mr. Brain was born in Dallas and received his master's degree from the University of Texas. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Ray Joe Kelley, in 1967, and Donald Wayne Kelley, in 1958. Survivors include two sons, Gene Kelley and Jerry Kelley, both of Amarillo; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The family will be at 4408 Gary Lane and suggests memorials be to Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice and Life Enrichment Center. Wayne Houser Wayne Houser, 59, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Rector Funeral Home Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St., with Oscar Maldonado, pastor of New Life Ministries, officiating. Mr. Houser was born in Sterling County and had lived in Amarillo for 14 years. He was owner/operator and a truck driver for Fleetline Inc., where he earned numerous safety awards. He married Edna Beatrice Blansitt in 1970. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Robert Dean Williams of Sapulpa, Okla., James Martin Houser, Gary Don "Campo" Houser and Thomas Matthew Houser, all of Amarillo; a daughter, Cheryl Lynn Williams of Aurora, Colo.; a brother, Ed Erismon of Denver; four sisters, Dorothy Almond of Van Nuys, Calif., June Houser of Long Beach, Calif., Jackie Vaughan of Garden Grove, Calif., and Joan Houser of Las Vegas; and nine grandchildren. Clara Belle Roush Clara Belle Roush, 77, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1999. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with the Rev. Paul Bates officiating. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum North. Mrs. Roush was born in Canon Falls, Minn., and moved to Amarillo in 1960 from Casa Blanca, Morocco. She was a Methodist and worked for Copy Systems for 10 years until her retirement in 1985. She married Philip J. Roush in 1941 at Pensacola, Fla. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Dale Roush and Dean Roush, both of Amarillo; three brothers, Glen Woods of Sparks, Nev., Wayne Woods of Klamath Falls, Ore., and Leonard Woods of Great Falls, Mont.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the American Heart Association.
