Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Kress Church of Christ at Kress with Mr. Jack McCall, Mr. Haun Kite and Mr. J.D. Nance officiating. Burial will be in Silverton Cemetery by Myers Long Funeral Directors. Mr. Sutton was born in Marysville and raised in Goodnight, where he graduated from Goodnight High School in 1944. He served with the Navy during World War II and had farmed in southwest Briscoe County since 1952. He was a musician and, in 1996, was inducted into the Western Swing Hall of Fame in Sacramento, Calif. For 25 years, he served on the Caprock Soil and Water Conservation Board, and was on the Central Plains M.H.M.R. Board of Trustees. He married Teresa Crass in 1951 at Clovis, N.M. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Cynthia Glenn of Tulia, Rhonda McGinn of Humble and Melinda Stockton of Round Rock; two brothers, W.D. Sutton of Kimball, Neb., and Howard Sutton of Greenfield, Mo.; three sisters, Floy Sexton of Amarillo, Vereda Hulsey of White Deer and Ouida Filman of Denville, N.J.; and five grandchildren. Vanell Phipps MULESHOE - Vanell Phipps, 79, died Friday, Sept. 17, 1999. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Primitive Baptist Church with the Rev. Cleveland Bass, pastor, and Glen Williams officiating. Burial will be in Muleshoe Memorial Park Cemetery by Ellis Funeral Home. Mrs. Phipps was born in Burleson. She was a homemaker and a member of Primitive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, James Francis Phipps; and two daughters, Eva Mae Phipps Alsup and Maxine Phipps Sessions. She married Jerry C. Phipps in 1951 at Alvarado. Survivors include her husband; and four grandchildren. Dwight L. Miller PLAINVIEW - Dwight L. Miller, 71, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Garland Street Church of Christ with Karl King of the church officiating and Deryl Clevenger of Hart and Travis Trussell assisting. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. Mr. Miller was born and attended schools in Stafford, Okla. He also attended Wayland Baptist College and, in 1952, moved from Clinton, Okla., to Plainview, where he built dams. He was active in the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and was a member of the Garland Street Church of Christ, where he was active with the youth programs. He was a farmer in Van Horn, Hart and Plainview. He married Wanda Jean Meador in 1950 at Clovis, N.M. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Carol Boswell of Andrews; a son, Tony Miller of Tucson, Ariz.; three brothers, Wes Miller of Lawton, Okla., Hoyt Miller of Fairland, Okla., and Gene Miller of Foss, Okla.; a sister, Cleta Johnson of Hobart, Okla.; and five grandchildren. Joe Frank Knoll SHAMROCK - Joe Frank Knoll, 63, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Church of Christ in Dozier with Terry Newell of Shawnee, Okla., officiating. Burial will be in Shamrock Cemetery by Wright Funeral Directors. Mr. Knoll was born in Shamrock and raised in Greasey Corner Junction in the Samnorwood Community, where he graduated from Samnorwood School in 1954. He received an associate degree from Clarendon College and attended West Texas State University in Canyon. He married Anita Lois Amerson of Dozier in 1959 and they moved to the Amarillo area, where he worked for Firestone Tire Company before being transferred to Oklahoma. In 1969, he moved to Knoll, where he farmed and raised livestock and managed Lutie Cotton Gin for 10 years. He also served as Collingsworth County Commissioner for eight years, on Samnorwood School Board for 12 years and in the National Guard for nine years. He was a member of the Samnorwood Lions Club, the Rotary Club in Shamrock and was a 32nd degree Mason. He was a member of Dozier Church of Christ in Dozier. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Joe Frank "Jody" Knoll Jr. of Canyon and Steven Arnold Knoll of Hereford; a daughter, Stacey Renea Knoll Morgan of Shamrock; his mother, John Faye Green of Shamrock; a sister, Joan Inman of Amarillo; and five grandchildren. Amy Michelle Newhouse PAMPA - Amy Michelle Newhouse, 16, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with Pastor Lonny Robbins and Pastor Tim Kettenring of Trinity Fellowship officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Citizens Cemetery at Clarendon by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Miss Newhouse was born in Kerrville and, in 1994, moved with her family to Pampa, where she attended schools. She was active in Teen Leadership, Girls for Christ, Business Professionals of America, Thespian Society and was manager of the Pampa High School Volleyball team. She was also active in the drama team with the youth of Trinity Fellowship of Pampa. Survivors include her parents, Kevin and Nancy Hull of Amarillo and Bubba and Teresa Newhouse of Clarendon; four sisters, Sara Newhouse of Lubbock, Katy Newhouse, Nicole Newhouse and Abby Hull, all of Pampa; her grandparents, Kenneth and Sue Rodgers of Throckmorton, Bright and Cloe Ann Newhouse of Clarendon, Mary Sue Hull of Hereford and Jack and Charlotte Capps of Atkinson, Ill. Amarillo LeNora Dell Richey LeNora Dell Richey, 75, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road, with the Rev. John Andrews, minister of Spiritual Life at First Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Richey had lived in Amarillo for the past 19 years and taught special education at Lee Elementary School. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Top Club. Her husband, the Rev. Walter Richey, died in 1995. Survivors include two daughters, Mussette Richey of Austin and Mechelle Richey Carlson of Sonoma, Calif.; a sister, Francine Hasserbring of Blackwell, Okla. The family suggests memorials be to Make-A-Wish Foundation; or Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice and Life Enrichment Center. J.R. Horne J.R. Horne, 79, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999. Services will be at 3 p.m. today in Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with the Rev. Trent Sisemore of San Jacinto Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Horne was born in Quanah and moved to Amarillo in 1923. He graduated from Amarillo High School and attended the University of Texas. He served as a Navy Seabee during World War II and owned and operated Cushman Motor Company. He later sold boats, Harley Davidson motorcycles and sports equipment. He also operated Penton Imports and HiPoint Racing for the southwestern United States until his retirement. After retiring, he worked for Jack Sisemore. He was a life member of both American Motorcyclists Association and Harley Owners Club and was a member of Track & Trail and Boat & Ski Club. He married Jackie Mills in 1941 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Carol Horne McDaniel of Austin; and two grandchildren. Sister Dominga Schonenberger Sister Dominga Schonenberger, 92, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today in St. Francis Convent Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Francis Convent Chapel with the Most Rev. L.T. Matthiesen, Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Amarillo, as celebrant. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Sister Dominga was born in Wil/St. Gallen, Switzerland, and had been in Amarillo since 1981. She worked in missions in Columbia, Panama, New Mexico and Texas. She is survived by her brother, August Schonenberger of Switzerland. New Mexico Denise Evans CLOVIS, N.M. - Denise Evans, 38, died Monday, Sept. 13, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Patterson Chapel C.M.E. Church with the Rev. Albert Foreman officiating. Burial will be in Mission Garden of Memories by Muffley Funeral Home. Mrs. Evans was born in Clovis. She was a sales clerk at PRMC and a member of Patterson Chapel C.M.E. Church. Survivors include two daughters, Kendall Evans and Ashley Evans, both of Clovis; her mother, Lady G. Latimer of Clovis; six sisters, Robbie Fleming and Lorane Ponder, both of Atlanta, Bobbie Burnette of Clovis, Pauline Connelly of Midwest City, Okla., Diane Jones of Richmond, Va., and Billie Kelly of Baltimore; and her grandmother, Tempy McCullouch of Long Beach, Calif. Chun Ying Herring CLOVIS, N.M. - Chun "Sophia" Ying Herring, 52, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 1999. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Cannon Air Force Base Chapel. Burial will be in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at San Antonio, Texas. Cremation will be by Muffley Funeral Home. Mrs. Herring was born in Ping Tung County, Taiwan Republic of China, and moved to Clovis in 1984. She was a delivery driver for Kline Floral and had worked for AAFES at Cannon Air Force Base in product stocking. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and the Cannon Air Force Base Bowling League. She married William A. Herring in 1970 at Tainan Taiwan Republic of China. He died in 1997. Survivors include a son, William P. Herring of Clovis; a daughter, Suebe Herring of Dallas; her mother, Wu Mei Chu of Ping Tung County; three brothers, Chun Yung Chu, Chun Chu Chu and Chun Lin Chu, all of Ping Tung County; three sisters, Chun Mei Chu, Chun Lan Chu and Chun Kwei Chu, all of Ping Tung County; and two grandchildren. Benito Anaya CLOVIS, N.M. - Benito Anaya, 77, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Community Church with the Rev. Daniel M. Balizan officiating. Burial will be in Santa Fe National Cemetery at Santa Fe with military honors by Cannon Air Force Base Honor Guard. Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home. Mr. Anayo was born in Mosquero, N.M. and was a lifetime resident of the area. He served with the Army during World War II and worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps and, later, in construction. He was a Catholic. Survivors include a son, Ben Anaya Jr., of Portales; two daughters, Gloria Durnford of Accokeek, Md., and Connie Anaya of Portales; three brothers, Bernardino Anaya of Clovis, Carlos Anaya of Grants, N.M., and Jose Anaya of Albuquerque; four grandchildren; and a greatgrandchild. Deann Millender CLOVIS, N.M. - Deann Millender, 37, died Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999. Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Central Baptist Church with the Rev. Gene Hawkins officiating. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens Cemetery by Muffley Funeral Home. Mrs. Millender was born in Albuquerque, moved to Clovis in 1974, and graduated from Clovis High School in 1979. She was a bookkeeper at Nuco Supply and was a member of Central Baptist Church, where she was the Sunday school secretary and taught sixth grade Sunday school class. She married Mark Millender in 1979. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Mark Millender Jr., and Michael Millender, both of Clovis; a daughter, Danielle Millender of Clovis; her parents, Chuck and Ellie Dlouhy of Clovis; two brothers, Frank Dlouhy of Jacksonville, Fla., and Mike Dlouhy of Clovis; and a sister, Nikki Dlouhy of Clovis. Elsewhere Barbara Belle Swartz KILLEEN - Barbara Belle Swartz, 70, died Friday, Sept. 17, 1999. Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Clarence Corbett, Dr. Gary Kindley and the Rev. Robert Flowers officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Park Cemetery in Amarillo. Arrangements are by Harper-Talasek Funeral Home. Mrs. Swartz was born in Amarillo and graduated as valedictorian from Amarillo High School in 1947. She received degrees from Amarillo College and West Texas State University and served as the first full-time Student Financial Aid Officer for Central Texas College. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star, a leader in the Girl Scouts of America for more than 30 years and was active with the Order of Rainbow for Girls. She was treasurer of the Delta Epsilon Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi and was a member of the local Lioness Club. Survivors include her husband, Phillip Swartz; three daughters, Kasey Morrarty of Killeen, Cherlyn Corbett of Dallas and Kristi Swartz of Hong Kong; and a sister, Marilyn Gary of Huntsville.
