Mrs. Black was born in Grandfield, Okla. She worked as a nurse's aide for Nichols Resthome. He joined the Navy in 1942, serving during World War II and was discharged in 1945. In 1989, he retired as a crane operator in the construction business. He was a Baptist. He married Leta Berry in 1976 at Weatherford. Arrangements are by CarmichaelWhatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mr. Heiskell was born in Pampa, where he was a lifelong resident. He was an Army veteran who was stationed in Germany. He worked in construction and was a member of Highland Baptist Church. He married Sherri Lambert in 1985 at Dallas. Amarillo Daily News, Dec. 21, 1999 Gladys Andrews CANADIAN - Gladys Andrews, 91, died Friday, Dec. 17, 1999, in Long Beach, Calif. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Christian Church with Roger Smelser, senior minister, officiating. Burial will be in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery by Stickley-Hill Funeral Directors. Mrs. Andrews was born in Strickler County, Ark., and moved to Gem City after her marriage. She returned to Strickler in 1937 then moved to Hemphill County in 1941. For 35 years, Mrs. Andrews worked as a finisher for Canadian Laundry. She was a member of First Christian Church, Rebekah's Lodge and 50-Plus Club. In 1997, she moved to Indiana where she was active in Riverview Day Care Center in Elkhart. She attended the Nazarene church. She married William Brice Andrews in 1926 at Strickler. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1970 and by two daughters, Mary Alice and Velma. Survivors include five daughters, Faye Lindsey of Griffith, Ind., Frances Carpenter of Munster, Ind., Carolyn Hall of Seal Beach, Calif., Glenda Hilton of Middlebury, Ind., and Betty Kleinschmidt of San Antonio; a brother, Clayton Pierson of Tulsa; a sister, Vera Carter of Prairie Grove, Ark.; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Mr. Doyle was born in Erick, Okla., and moved to Dalhart when he was 10. In the late 1930s, he was a cowboy on the Allan Finch Ranch. During World War II, he was a corporal in the Army, serving in New Guinea, Australia and the Philippines until his honorable discharge in 1945. After the war, Mr. Doyle returned to Dalhart and started his own trucking company. He married Mary Ringo in 1947 at Clayton, N.M. Survivors include a daughter, Laurie Vogel of Dalhart; two sons, Danny Doyle of Dalhart and Dale Doyle of Amarillo; three sisters, Ella Mae McClendon in Dalhart, Joy Tomlin of Amarillo and Margie Barton of Fort Worth; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He farmed and ranched in the Grady area. He married Rosa Berniece Frost in 1939 at Fullerton, Calif. Mr. Petonic was born in Cleveland, Ohio and received his bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Maryland. In 1984, he retired as sergeant major from the Army. Graveside services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Adams Mennonite Brethren Cemetery. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church at Guymon with the Rev. Jim Jacobson, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors. Mr. Fast was born in Hooker, Okla. He had farmed and ranched in the Adams community and owned Adams Grain and Fertilizer Co. He also was a pilot and a member of the Adams Mennonite Brethren Church. He married Velma Jene Martens in 1942. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Jone Friesen of Tulsa, Kathy Regan of Dallas, Donna Johnson of Guymon and Virginia Deeds of Irving, Texas; a sister, Ruth Nachtigale of Collinsville; six grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Amarillo Daily News, Dec. 21, 1999 Carl Franklin Grove GUYMON, Okla. - Carl Franklin Grove, 94, died Monday, Dec. 20, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Odie Nunley and the Rev. Scott Adams officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery. Mr. Grove was born and raised near Hardesty. In 1956, he moved to Virginia, where he farmed tobacco for eight years. In 1964, he returned to Guymon and continued farming. For 16 years, he worked for the Cabot Carbon Black Plant. Mr. Grove also was employed as a custodian for the Guymon school system in the Salyer and Carrier schools. He retired in the late 1970s. He was active with the No Man's Land Senior Citizens. He married Matilda Louise Mussman in 1923. She died in 1952. His second marriage was in 1953 to Beatrice Earle Meade who died in 1986. He also was preceded in death by two sons, Loyal and Raymond Grove. Survivors include a son, Leonard Grove of Guymon; two stepdaughters, Kathy Hill and Debbie Rickers, both of Santana, Kan.; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several greatgreat-grandchildren. The family suggest memorials be to No Man's Land Senior Citizens Center which will be accepted at the funeral home. The family will greet friends at the home of Leonard and Tex Grove. Mr. Duncan was born in Bowie and moved to Wellington, where he graduated from Wellington High School. He lived in Wellington for 50 years where he farmed and operated several business. He moved to Waco in 1971 where he and his wife were house parents at the Methodist Children's Home. He later moved to Shamrock where he lived for 20 years before moving to Seymour in 1994. He was a member of United Methodist Church in West, Texas. He married Burnalee Beaird in 1935. She died in 1993. Survivors include two sons, Douglas Duncan of Seymour and John Duncan of Boydville, Okla.; a sister, Mary Allen of Kingsland; a brother, H.L. Keith Bryant officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in Lane Memorial Cemetery at Sunray, Texas. Mrs. Kees was born in the Dew community of Freestone County, Texas. She had lived in Dallas until 1944, when she moved to Sunray, Texas. She had lived in Liberal since 1991. She worked as a nanny, a nurse and a cook for many years. She was a member of the Sunray Baptist Church of Sunray. She married Johnny M. Kees in 1920 at Waxahachie, Texas. He died in 1964. Survivors include a son, Jimmy Kees of Liberal; a sister, Vera Teabeaux of Bryan, Texas; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-greatgranddaughter.
