Mr. Poston was born in Colgate, Okla., and had been a Borger resident since 1926. He retired from Huber Corp. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Isom Masonic Lodge 1242 and Khiva Temple of the Shrine. He married Imogene Feller in 1936. He was preceded in death by a son, Larry Poston, in 1992. Survivors include her husband; a son, Shawn Fryrear of Caldwell; two daughters, Tori Murray of Fritch and Shelley Obrecht of Amarillo; two brothers, Richard Melton of Spearman and Mike Melton of Stinnett; three sisters, Jody Robertson, Sue Bowling and Dixie Pool, all of Spearman; and seven grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, Dec. 22, 1999 Edward J. White SHAMROCK - Edward J. White, 77, died Monday, Dec. 20, 1999. There will be a private celebration of his life at the family farm in Dozier. Cremation was handled by Rose Chapel Funeral Service of Sayre, Okla. Mr. White was born in Solano, N.M., and moved to Wellington as a child with his family. He graduated from Wellington High School and attended West Texas State College at Canyon, where he was a member of the Buffalo football team. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II and participated in eight major battles in the Pacific. He farmed and ranched in Collingsworth County for 40 years. He married Almeta Shipley in 1954 at Wellington. Survivors include two children, Landi Hart of Shamrock and Joe Ed White of Amarillo; and two grandchildren. Burial will be in Sudan Cemetery in Sudan by Ellis Funeral Home of Muleshoe. Mr. Shipman was born in Glen Rose and moved to Muleshoe from Fort Worth in 1945. A veteran of World War II, he served in the Army. He retired as owner of Joe Shipman and Son Body Shop in Muleshoe and was a member of Richland Hills Baptist Church. He married Edna Louise Lowery in 1942 at Fort Worth. She died in 1990. Ron Brunson, minister of New Covenant Church, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park in Plainview. Mr. Himes was born in Gredy County, Okla., and moved to the Plainview area in 1941. He retired from farming in the Finney community in 1971. He operated the Panhandle Fruit Market until 1978. In 1997, he moved to Albuquerque. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Floy Keeling, in 1963, and his second wife, Elsie Bullard, in 1998. Survivors include a daughter, Leta F. Himes of Albuquerque; three sisters, Mildred Thompson and Opal Justus, both of Oklahoma City, and Willie Meredith of Rush Springs, Okla.; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Quanah First United Methodist Church and kept the nursery children for many years. She married Troy Curlee in 1941 at Bartlesville, Okla. He died in 1976. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery. Mr. Beside was born in Gubut Sarsogen, Philippine Islands and had lived in Dumas for 20 years. He was a dough boy during World War I and aide to Gen. MacArthur and a prisoner of war during World War II. He received the Philippine liberation ribbon with a bronze star. Mr. Besid was a chauffeur for Coca Cola. He raised quarter horses and was a coach and umpire for Little League. Survivors include a son, Richard Tejada of Toronto, Canada; special friends, Gene and Marie Davis and Megan Aplin, all of Dumas, and Lisa Tindle of Amarillo; and six grandchildren. Arrangements are by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors. Mrs. Reeder was born in Olmitz, Kan., and raised in Great Bend, Kan., where she graduated from high school. She married Richard Curtis Reeder in 1945 and they moved to Guymon. She had been involved with the Texas County Hospital Auxiliary for the past 25 years and also helped in the Hospital Canteen and Red Cross blood drives. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star 419, the Rose Garden Club and First Presbyterian Church. Survivors include two sons, Michael Reeder of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Max Reeder of Guymon; two sisters, Virginia Weeks of Hoisington, Kan., and Janet Thompson of Tulsa, Okla.; a brother, Dick Campbell of Hoisington; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Keyes Baptist Church with Jason Kearney officiating. Burial will be in Willowbar Cemetery by Cimarron Mortuary of Boise City. Mrs. Snider was born in Westfork, Ark. She attended school at Willowbar and graduated from Cimarron County High School. She received her teaching certificate from Panhandle A&M College. She taught in one-room schools in Cimarron County and Campo, Colo. Mrs. Snider helped her husband on their farm near Keyes. Her garden products won several awards at the Cimarron County Fair. She was a charter member of Keyes Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and played the piano and organ. A past 4-H leader, Mrs. Snider was a member of the Oklahoma Retired Teachers Association, Oklahoma Economic Development Association and the Keyes Senior Citizens. She married Gorman Snider in 1941 at Keyes. He preceded her in death. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Ray of Oklahoma City; a son, Lanny Snider of Amarillo; a sister, Mildred Williams of Keyes; and four grandchildren. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and served on the USS Garnet, the USS Kadashan Bay and USS Fall River. He was a machinist mate second class and earned the Victory Medal, World War II; the American Area, Asiatic-Pacific and Good Conduct medals. He worked for Santa Fe Railway for 35 years, retiring as a reproduction manager. He married Florence Stark in 1950 in Amarillo. He was preceded in death by a son, Willis Oliver Shelton Jr., in 1998. Survivors include his wife; a son, Mike Shelton of Albuquerque; a daughter, Kittie Wagner of Amarillo; a brother, Tom Shelton of Amarillo; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He graduated in 1939 from Clovis High School and moved to California. For 41 years he was a chief purchasing agent for McDonnell-Douglas. He was a member and a deacon of a church in California. After retiring he moved to Las Cruces, where he lived for five years then moved to Clovis 14 years ago. Mr. Hungate was a member, deacon and Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church. He was active in the Hungate Family Historical Society. He married Ileen Pursellet in 1940 at Santa Monica, Calif. Survivors include his wife; a son, Clovis Hungate of Tucson; two daughters, Prudence Hungate of Westminster, Calif., and Raleen Hockenberry of Scotts Mills, Ore.; a brother, John Walter Hungate of Albuquerque; a sister, Emma Lee Wolfe of Tulsa, Okla.; a granddaughter; and a great-granddaughter.
