Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Texline United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Texline Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton, N.M. Mrs. Poole was born in Union County, N.M., and graduated from Texline High School in 1931. After attending Texas Women's College in Denton and West Texas Normal College in Canyon, she returned to Texline and taught at Texline Elementary School. She was a member of Texline United Methodist Church. She married Harry Poole in 1936 at Clayton, N.M., and from 1947 until 1975, she and her husband owned and operated Poole Drug in Texline. Her husband died in 1992. Her infant daughter, Linda Kay Poole, died in 1954. Survivors include a son, Jim Poole of Texline; two daughters, Carole Triplett of Amarillo and Beverly Taylor of Torrington, Wyo.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Texline United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 67, Texline, TX 79087; or Texline Cemetery Fund. Esther Hammit DALHART - Esther Hammit, 95, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 1999. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Cemetery with Rusty Hancock, pastor of Lincoln Street Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Hass Funeral Home. Mrs. Hammit was born in Grant County, Okla., moved to Hansford County in the early 1900s and to Dalhart in 1928. She worked for Lincoln Street Baptist Church for more than 23 years. She married Walter A. "Pat" Hammit in 1923 at Ochiltree County. He died in 1964. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Emma Poyner, and a granddaughter, Jacquie Lucille Poyner. Survivors include two daughters, Jiggs Payne and Chris Williams, both of Dalhart; two sons, Walter Hammit of McAllister, Okla., and Kenneth Hammit of Fritch; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. Amarillo Delores Garcia Delores Garcia, 57, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Aug. 21, 1999. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. today in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road, with Deacon Hector Gallegos reciting. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Our Lady of Guadalupe with the Rev. Rosendo Herrera officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Garcia was born in Beard and moved to Amarillo 31 years ago from Abilene. She worked at Levi Straus and Western Uniform and had been a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe since coming to Amarillo. She married Paul Garcia in 1960 at Abilene. Survivors include her husband; three sons, Ricky Garcia, Raymond Garcia and Paul John Garcia, all of Amarillo; three sisters, Jose Juaree of Lawndale, Calif., Dora Alvarez of Abilene and Sally Lujan of Fort Worth; and seven grandchildren. Claude J. Gentry Claude J. "Hap" Gentry, 84, died Saturday, Aug. 21, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with the Revs. Dana Moore and Jerry Spencer officiating. Flag detail and presentation will be by Disabled American Veterans, Chapter No. 26. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Gentry was born in Wellington, attended Buck Creek Rural School and was a longtime resident of Amarillo. He served with both the Army and the Army Air Corps during World War II and was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post No. 1475. He was a member of West Amarillo Christian Church and a former member of the Moose and Elks Lodge of Amarillo. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a mail handler. He married Grace Baum in Kensington, Pa. She died in 1980. He married Willie Mae Meaker in 1984 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; a son, Mike Meaker of Gonzales; two daughters, Judy Johnson of Bastrop and Lynette Bush of Carlsbad, N.M.; two sisters, Lorena Boyles of Wellington and Mary Gentry of Amarillo; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Crown of Texas Hospice.
