Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Quanah Memorial Park with the Rev. Clinton Young, minister of the First Baptist Church officiating. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. today in First Baptist Church by Price-Jackson Funeral Home. Mrs. Hughes was born in McGregor and moved to Medicine Mound in 1922. She graduated from Quanah High School in 1923 and the University of Texas. She attended the University of Southern California for post-graduate work. She taught school more than 30 years at Dawson, Paducah, Pampa and taught second grade at Quanah for many years. She was a member of the Monday Needle Club, Hardeman County School Personnel and the First Baptist Church. She married Ralph Hughes in 1940 at Medicine Mound. He died in 1976. Survivors include a daughter, Jane Hughes of Plano; and a sister, Clem Wills of Mesquite. The family requests memorials be to the Hardeman County Museum. Jewel A. Keeth FRITCH - Jewel A. Keeth, 71, died Saturday, March 20, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Brown Funeral Home Chapel of the Fountains at Borger with the Rev. Leonard Forsythe, pastor of Bible Baptist Church at Borger, officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery. Mrs. Keeth was born in Borger and had been a Fritch resident for 20 years. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She married Jack Keeth in 1976 at Borger. Survivors include her husband; a son, Darrell Keeth of Flagstaff, Ariz.; three daughters, Andrea Caffrey of Australia, Gloria Susan Bugg of Fritch and Jerri Muehellenburg of Houston; 14 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Mrs. J.E. Stair PLAINVIEW - Mrs. J.E. (Mamie) Stair, 86, died Sunday, March 21, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church, Family Life Chapel, with Dr. Travis Hart, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home. Mrs. Stair was born in Marietta, Okla., and was raised around the Lawton, Okla., area. She moved to Hale County in 1940, where she was a homemaker. She also lived in the East Mound community. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Pastor's Class. She married James Edward Stair in 1930 at Lawton, Okla. He died in 1987. Mr. Arnn was a lifetime Childress resident. He was an Army veteran of World War II and later employed as warehouse foreman at Holland Metal Co. He married Eva Munday in 1955 at Childress. Survivors include his wife; a son, Johnny Arnn of Childress; a stepson, D.L. Canada of Amarillo; a stepdaughter, Pat Burris of Mineral Wells; two brothers, Elmer L. Mrs. Wilson was born in Fargo, Okla., and moved to Canadian after her marriage. A homemaker, she served as a volunteer at Edward Abraham Memorial Home. She was a member of Central Baptist Church, Women of the Moose Lodge and member and past president of the Canadian Riding Club. She married Doyle Wilson in 1941 at Sayre, Okla. She married Joaquine Alejandre who died in 1966. The family will be at 108 Dayton. Charles Randolph Newman TULIA - Charles Randolph Newman, 85, died Sunday, March 21, 1999. James Willborn, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mr. Newman was born in Lone Camp and grew up in Palo Pinto County where he attended school. He was a farmer near Tulia until employed by Swisher County in 1956. In 1992, he retired after 36 years as a heavy equipment operator. He married Emma Lou Hanna in 1938 at Clovis, N.M. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Delbert Newman of Plainview and Charles Newman of Montgomery; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. John Talley Neasbitt BORGER - John Talley "J.T." Neasbitt, 72, died Sunday, March 21, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Dalton-Holmes Funeral Home Chapel in Durant, Okla., with Mr. Ray Mayhue officiating. Burial will be in Restland Cemetery in Silo, Okla., by Brown Funeral Directors of Borger. A Borger resident for 47 years, Mr. Neasbitt was a native of Marshall County, Okla. During World War II, he served in the Army in the European theater. He was a member of the Church of Christ and was a truck driver for Phillips Petroleum Co. He married Hilda James in 1950 at Durant. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Randy Neasbitt of Jermyn and Mike Neasbitt of The Colony; two daughters, Sherry Kellogg of Fritch and Twila Washer of Borger; a brother, James Neasbitt of Borger; two sisters, Goldie Campbell of Durant and Jessie Neasbitt of Antlers, Okla.; and eight grandchildren. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton. Mrs. Fike was born in Dill, Okla., and lived in Perryton since she was 2 years old. She was a homemaker and member of Full Gospel Church. She married Floyd Fike in 1936 at Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1995 and by a son, Rex Fike. Survivors include two sons, George Fike of Amarillo and David Fike of Optima, Okla.; a daughter, Susan Fike of Perryton; two sisters, Luttie Loren and Polly Niendorff, both of San Angelo; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Museum of the Plains or a favorite charity. Martha Martin TULIA - Martha Martin, 83, of Virginia died Sunday, March 21, 1999. Mrs. Martin was born and raised in Memphis where she attended school. She lived in Tulia for a number of years and then lived in Amarillo for 53 years. In 1996, she moved to Alabama and moved to Virginia in 1998. A homemaker, she was a member of Ridgeview Baptist Church in Waynesboro, Va. She married Sam G. Martin in 1935 at Tulia. He died March 11. Survivors include a son, Don Martin of Waynesboro; two daughters, Connie Perkins and Rita Taylor, both of Amarillo; five sisters, Dolly Howard, Becky McCaslin, Johnnie Davis and Opal Rae McCaslin, all of Tulia, and Julie BriscoeLewis of Dallas; a brother, Robert Green of Lubbock; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. New Mexico Richard Anthony Gallegos TUCUMCARI, N.M. - Richard Anthony Gallegos, 37, died Friday, March 20, 1999. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today in St. Anne's Catholic Church by the Rev. John C. Daniel. Burial will be in the family plot of Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Gallegos was born in Tucumcari and had lived in Logan for many years. He was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church. Survivors include his parents, Theodore and Carmen Garcia of Tucumcari; a daughter, Michelle Gallegos of Albuquerque; two brothers, Ronald Garcia and David Garcia, both of Tucumcari; and a sister, Sylvia Garcia of Albuquerque. The body will be available for viewing at the funeral home until time for Mass services at the church. Claude L. Thomas MELROSE, N.M. - Claude L. Thomas, 95, died Saturday, March 20, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Lewis Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Mission Garden of Memories Cemetery at Clovis. Arrangements are by SteedTodd Funeral Home. Mr. Thomas was born in Beatty, Kan., and moved to Curry County with his parents in 1906. He farmed in Curry County for more than 70 years and sold many of the first tractors in the area for Thomas Hardware at Texico in the 1920s. He had farmed at Field since the 1940s. He was a member of the Melrose Masonic Lodge 39 AF&AM, Order of Eastern Star and had served multiple terms on the ASCS Committee and the Regional Housing Authority Board. He married Mary Alma Mouser in 1924. She died in 1964. She married Willie May Kinsey Richard in 1965. She died in 1995. Survivors include a daughter, Edna Vandekraats of Roswell; a sister, Geraldine Campbell of Hollene; three stepchildren, Bill Kinsey of San Antonio, Joe Richards of Clovis, and Mary lavender of Cerritos, Calif.; a grandson; and two great-grandchildren. Brown, 88, of Amarillo and a longtime Roosevelt County resident, died Sunday, March 21, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Wheeler Mortuary Chapel in Portales with the Rev. Glenn Edwards and the Rev. Frank Smith officiating. Burial will be in Causey Cemetery in Causey. Mr. Brown was born in Redlands and moved to east Texas at a young age. In 1923, the family moved to Amarillo. He returned to the family homestead in 1933 where he farmed until returning to Amarillo in 1998. He was a member of Causey Baptist Church. He married Fannie Lynn in 1933 at Portales. She died in 1996. Survivors include three sons, James L. Brown of Waxahachie, Texas, Gene Brown of Jonesboro, Texas, and Gerry Brown of Amarillo; two daughters, Jim Ann Gardner of Tulia, Texas, and Kay Brown of Amarillo; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Nada Ammons Nada Ammons, 88, of Amarillo, died Saturday, March 20, 1999. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Ray Meier officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mrs. Ammons was born in Plaska. She was a homemaker and attended Central Church of Christ. She married Leo Scott in 1928. He preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by her second husband, Roy Ammons, and a daughter, Jeanine Scott, in 1994. Mrs. Ammons and her second husband became foster parents in 1959 after her daughter died. For more than 100 foster children, they were known as "Mama Nada" and "Papa Roy." They retired in 1970. Survivors include a grandson, David Russell of Amarillo; a granddaughter, Patricia Hearn of Amarillo; three greatgrandchildren; and three great-greatgrandchildren. Mr. Rumsey was born in Kerrville. In 1982, he retired after 40 years of service with the railroads. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine, in 1994. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Blakley was born in Woodward. She and her husband owned Blakley Potato Chip Co. In 1962, they retired and moved to Siloam Spring, Ark., then returned to Amarillo in 1987. She was a member of Pairs and Squares Square Dance Club and the Joy Sunday School Class at Paramount Baptist Church. She married Cecil M. Blakley in 1933 at Woodward. He died in 1992. Survivors include two sons, Robert L. Blakley of Spring and John F. Blakley of Amarillo; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Oklahoma Pearl Elizabeth Stratton Vantine GUYMON, Okla. - Pearl Elizabeth Stratton Vantine, 86, died Saturday, March 20, 1999, in Amarillo. Services were at 3 p.m. Monday in Victory Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mike Chaffin officiating. Burial was in the Elmhurst Cemetery by Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home. Mrs. Vantine was born at Coldwater Creek, southeast of Guymon. She attended Roy School, a one-room school house on her parents ranch. When she was a sophomore, she attended Guymon public schools, graduating in 1929. She attended Oklahoma College for Women at Chickasha; Oklahoma A&M at Stillwater; and Panhandle A&M at Goodwell, where she graduated in 1934. She earned a lifetime teacher's certificate and a bachelor's degree in commerce. After her graduation, she began working for Guaranty Abstract and Title Co. She married Mark Vantine in 1935. They moved to Pampa, Texas, where they owned and operated the White-Way Restaurant. During this time, they became partners in ranching with her sister, Jean. In 1950, they moved back to Guymon and ranched full time. She had been a director on the City National Bank Board and served on the Texas County Memorial Foundation and the Texas County Development Co. She was a 57-year member of the Order of Eastern Star, past president of the Delphinium Garden Club and was a member of the Daughters of the Confederacy. In 1986, the family and the ranch were among the first to be presented the Oklahoma Centennial Ranch award for 100 years in ranching. In 1992, she was chosen as Pioneer Day Queen. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1986. Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Stratton Vantine Grigg of Atlanta; two granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren. Wayne Guy Colclazier GUYMON, Okla. - Wayne Guy Colclazier, 76, died Friday, March 19, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in the First Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Terry Armstrong officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Fairview Cemetery at Greensburg, Kan. Arrangements are by Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home. Mr. Colclazier was born and raised in Haviland, Kan. He attended school at Haviland. He married June Baker in 1946 at Greensburg, Kan. They lived in the Greensburg, Santanta, Hugoton and Hardesty areas. In 1962, they moved to the Guymon area and in 1976 they moved back to Greensburg where for three years, they owned and operated the Pleasant View Motel. He had worked for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Co. for 30 years. In 1979 they returned to Guymon. Survivors include his wife; a son, Tom Colclazier of Westminster, Colo.; a daughter, Katy Dunkerson of Broken Arrow, Okla.; a sister, Myrtillia Horner of Greensburg; and four grandchildren. Elsewhere James Dale McGREGOR - James "Jim" Dale, 91, a former resident of Amarillo and Hereford, died Friday, March 19, 1999, at Fort Worth. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Fairview Cemetery at Pampa with the Rev. W.L. Stanley officiating. Arrangements are by Cole Funeral Home Inc. of McGregor. Mr. Dale was born in May, Okla. He attended school in May. He farmed in the Hereford area and was employed by Amarillo Hardware as a warehouse foreman, retiring in 1968 after 28 years. He moved to McGregor in 1972 from Amarillo. He married Nettie Irene Walker in 1927 at Pampa. She died in 1992. Survivors include two daughters, Jean Grant and Dorothy Hamlin, both of Burleson; a son, Monty Dale of Burleson; a brother, Charles E. Dale of Chandler; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Kansas Evelyn Heintz Emberton ELKHART, Kan. - Evelyn Heintz Emberton, 82, died Sunday, March 21, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Church of God with the Rev. Ken Van officiating. Burial will be in Elkhart Cemetery by Harrell Funeral Home of Elkhart. Mrs. Emberton was born near Elkhart and was a longtime resident of Elkhart and Liberal. In 1989, she was selected Morton County Woman of the Year. She was instrumental in the monumentalizing of the corners of Kansas, Colorado and Oklahoma. In 1990, the restored cornerstone was dedicated and became a national monument. A retired teacher, Mrs. Emberton was a member of the United Methodist Church, PEO, High Plains Health Foundation and was past president of Chamber of Commerce and Pride Committee. She served on the board of directors of the First Bank of Elkhart and was a member of the Aurora Club and Book Review Club in Liberal. She married Jack Emberton in 1937 at Elkhart. He died in 1983. Survivors include three daughters, Monzelle McFaddin of San Ramon, Calif., VonCeil Bleess of Tucson and Michele Dorsey of Amarillo; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
