Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Memorial Park Funeral Home, Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with the Rev. Bill Wade officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Kilgore City Cemetery in Kilgore. Mrs. Brown was born in Decatur, Ill., and graduated from James Milliken University with a master's degree in business in 1937. Prior to her marriage, she worked for Shell Oil Co. She moved to Kilgore after World War II. In Kilgore, Mrs. Brown was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher, choir member, WSCS officer and circle leader. She worked at Kilgore Nursing Home and Henderson Hospital. She was a volunteer at Roy H. Laird Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Brown moved to Amarillo in 1991 from Kilgore. She did volunteer work at the Department of Human Resources and Bivins Elementary School. She married John T. Brown in 1939 at Fall River, Mass. He died in 1966. Survivors include two sons, Dr. John Brown of Berkeley, Calif., and Bill Brown of Hollywood, Md.; a daughter, Sara Hamm of Amarillo; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Morren was born in Colorado City and moved to Amarillo in 1959. She was a homemaker and a member of San Jacinto Baptist Church. She married Mancel Morren in 1947 at Big Spring. He died in 1999. He served with the Navy during World War II and was a traveling salesman for Morton Foods and Dalton's Best Made Products of Fort Worth. He was a member of Irwin Road Baptist Church. He married Lorean Jordan in 1932 at Vernon. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Wanda Childers of Amarillo; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Conner was born in Hood Cooke County and raised in Denton. She received a bachelor's degree in Education and was a teacher and librarian for 45 years, many of which were in Odessa. She was a lifetime member of Delta Kappa Gamma, a member of the Texas Retired Teachers Association and a Methodist. Her husband, Virgil Conner, died in 1976. Survivors include a brother, William E. Arrangements are by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mrs. Stueart was born in Selfs and moved to Amarillo in 1954 from Estelline. In 1995, she retired from the city of Amarillo as a data control clerk. She was a Baptist. She married A.B. Stueart in 1953 at Yuma, Ariz. He died in 1998. Survivors include a daughter, Blanca Belk of Amarillo; a brother, Billy George Gilbert of Hurst; and three grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the American Brain Tumor Association. Amarillo Sunday News-Globe Oct. 24, 1999 New Mexico Emma Garrett Tucumcari, N.M. - Emma Garrett, 97, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 1999. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday in the United Methodist Church in San Jon with the Rev. Scott Seymour, minister of the Center Street United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in San Jon Cemetery by Dunn Funeral Home of Tucumcari. Mrs. Garrett was born in Wells, Texas. She moved to Rose Bud in 1920 and later to San Jon where she and her husband were ranchers. She then lived in Tucumcari. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of San Jon, and the Senior Citizen's Organization of Tucumcari. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Garrett, and a daughter, Sibyl Moore. Survivors include two daughters, Bernice Cosner of Tucumcari and Billie Garrett of Amarillo; a son, Jack Garrett of San Jon; seven grandchildren; greatgrandchildren; and great-great grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Cecelia's Catholic Church in Algona, Iowa, with the Rev. Steve Broderson officiating. Private burial will be in St. Cecelia's Cemetery in Algona by Oakcrest Funeral Home of Algona. Local arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mr. Greiner was born in Wesley, Iowa, moved with his family to Algona in 1920 and graduated from Algona High School in 1929. He worked with his father at Corwith Implement Company selling International Harvest equipment and continued the family business after his father's death. In 1957, he retired and moved to Coronado, Calif. He moved to Clovis in 1989. He is survived by three nephews, Monte Pearson of Algona, J.E. Finnell of Clovis and Stanley G. Finnell of Alamogordo. Stephen Lowerie, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Hass Funeral Home of Dalhart. Mr. Reynolds was born in Texas County, Okla., and moved to the Dalhart area in the early 1920s. In 1941, he moved to the Rhem community from Gruver. He served on the first board of directors and as director of the Dalhart Co-op and was a member of First Baptist Church. He married Nellie Ringo in 1925 at Dalhart. She preceded him in death. Survivors include two sons, R.B. Reynolds and Jim Reynolds, both of Dalhart; three daughters, Betty Parr and Kakie Cadenhead, both of Dalhart, and Bonnie Casio of Gig Harbor, Wash.; two brothers, Levi Reynolds of Dalhart and Ralph Reynolds of Gruver; 18 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Trinity Lutheran Church in Shamrock with Jim Sturgis, pastor, and Leif Hasskarl, pastor of Zion Lutheran Church in Pampa, officiating. Burial was in Shamrock Cemetery by Wright Funeral Directors. Mr. Hrnciar was born in Chicago and moved to Wheeler when he was 2. He was owner of John Hrnciar Livestock Transport Co., co-owner of C&H Supply and held ranching interests in Wheeler County. In 1968, he was named Man of the Year. He served on the Shamrock City Council Industrial Board, Water Resources Committee and was chairman of the St. Patrick's Celebration. He was a member of the Booster Club, Rotary Club, Top O'Texas Airstream Club and chairman of Wheeler County Republican Party. He married Christine Pakan in 1940 in Wheeler County. Survivors include his wife; a son, Jerry Hrnciar of Lawton, Okla.; a daughter, Martha Pforr of Fort Collins, Colo.; four sisters, Bessie Podmers and Helen Melchiori, both of Chicago, Sue Brostrom of Maywood, Ill., and Dorothy Wolf of Laguna Hills, Calif.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Amarillo Sunday News-Globe Oct. 24, 1999 Elvin Eugene Sykes PLAINVIEW - Elvin Eugene Sykes, 64, of Lubbock, died Friday, Oct. 22, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in College Heights Baptist Church in Plainview with the Rev. Don Robertson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview. Mr. Sykes was born in Levelland and grew up in Petersburg. When he was 12, he moved to Plainview. After his marriage, he worked for United Supermarket and Piggley Wiggley as a produce manager. He also was a foreman for Lillie-Hoffman. From 1970 until 1988, he owned the Burger Bar. In 1991, he had the Floydada Lot of Burger before returning to Plainview to run Burger World. In 1996, he returned to Floydada. He was a member of College Heights Baptist Church. He married Dorothy Miller in 1954 at Tucumcari, N.M. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Trina Sykes, in 1959. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Shawn Crowell of Austin; two sons, Lex Sykes of Lubbock and Johnny Sykes of Orlando, Fla.; a brother, Jack Sykes of Austin; two sisters, Billie Billington of Bryan and Pollie Varner of Plainview; and seven grandchildren. Herman Krauel of Friona officiating. Arrangements were by Ellis-Blackwell Funeral Home. Mrs. Smith was born in Firth, Neb., and moved to Parmer County in 1947 from Rocky, Okla. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and the Union Congregational Church. Her first husband, Melvin Allen, died in 1948. In 1954, she married Denver Smith of Friona. He died in 1989. Her third marriage was in 1998 to Charlie Meyer of Clovis, N.M. He died in June. She was also preceded in death by son, Stirling Wayne Allen, in 1974, and by an infant son. Burial will be in Friona Cemetery by Ellis-Blackwell Funeral Home. Mr. Lillard was born in Clovis, N.M., and was a longtime resident of Friona. During World War II, he served in the Army. He was in the D-Day invasion in Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge as well as Ardennes, Rhineland, Northern France and Central Europe. From 1950 until 1995, he owned and operated a real estate and insurance business. He was a member of Sixth Street Church of Christ and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He married LaVelle Lillard in 1954 at Clovis. Survivors include his wife; a son, Scott Lillard of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and two grandsons. Mr. Herron was born in Newsome and moved to Borger in 1953 from Clarendon. In 1984, he retired as the service manager for Bob Johnson Motor Company. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He married Dora Kathy Herron in 1949 at Clarendon. She died in 1997. Mrs. Sullivan was born in Dalhart, graduated from high school and moved to Fort Worth. For seven years, she was a cook at Boys Ranch, and in 1975, moved back to Dalhart, where she was a seamstress. Mr. Holt was born in Amarillo and grew up in Choctaw, Okla. In 1989, he graduated from Midwest City, Okla., High School. He received an associate's degree in electronics from Kansas University. Mr. Holt lived in Midwest City, Arkansas City and Choctaw before moving to Greensburg in 1996. He was a signal maintainer for the Santa Fe Railroad. He was a member of First Christian Church, Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen Local Lodge No. 33 and was founder of Bikes 4 Kids. He married Angela Walters in 1993 at Meeker, Okla. Survivors include his wife; a son, Christopher Daniel; a daughter, Amanda Walters; his parents, Charles David and Glenda Holt of Amarillo; and two sisters, Lisa McCord of Midwest City and Tara Holt of Amarillo. Mrs. Langston was born in Amarillo and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1945. She worked for both the Veterans Administration and the Internal Revenue Service in Austin and moved to New Braunfels in 1988 after her retirement. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and was treasurer of the American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 8573 in Canyon Lake. She married James W. Langston in 1947 at Amarillo. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Kay Butler of Austin, Linda V. Riddlebarger of Lewisville and Donna B.
