Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Doug Yates, pastor of First Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Keel was born in Cottle County and moved to Pampa in 1929. He retired in 1950 from Mobil Oil Company as a pipeline supervisor and was a member of First Baptist Church. He married Emma Lou Swain in the early 1930s. She preceded him in death. He married Monte Roberts in 1972 in Alamogordo, N.M. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Shirley Holder of Nacona; two sons, Joe Merrel Keel of Nacona and Jimmy Keel of Sayre, Okla.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News Oct. 25, 1999 Aaron Carr Jr. QUANAH - Aaron Carr Jr., 74, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Eighth and Main Street Church of Christ with Morris Green, minister of Patterson Street Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in the Quanah Memorial Park by Price-Jackson Funeral Home. Mr. Carr was born in Tatum, Okla., and was a master plumber for Jones Plumbing Company for 25 years. He served with the Navy during World War II and was a lifetime member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of Patterson Street Church of Christ. He married Mae Frances Moore in 1975 at Vernon. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Linda Clinton of Duncan, Okla., Mona Hendrix and Teresa Johnson, both of El Paso and Geneva Carr of Lawton, Okla.; two brothers, Matthew Carr of Oklahoma City and Charles Carr of Ardmore, Okla.; six sisters, Erma Young and Willie Lee, both of Tatum, Okla., Corine Doakes of Beggs, Okla., Mary Hill and Mildred Moore, both of Lawton, Okla., and Della Colbert of Brownwood; three stepchildren, Pat Mitchell of Amarillo, Robert Wesley Jr., of Duncanville, and Renae Moore of Grand Prairie; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Dinzel Leonard, pastor, and the Rev. Gary Jahnel, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Mobeetie Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home of Wheeler. Mrs. Simpson was born in Floydada. For 59 years, she had lived in Mobeetie, where she was co-owner of and bookkeeper for Simpson Oil Company and Simpson Service Station. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and First United Methodist Church. She married Byron Simpson in 1935 at Spearman. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Melba Darnell of Mobeetie; three sons, Jimmie Simpson of Kathleen, Ga., Tiny Simpson of Amarillo and Jerry Simpson of Skellytown; three sisters, Marie Gudgel of Wheeler, Aileen Skinner of Lake Dallas and Reba Blair of Amarillo; a brother, R.C. Parker of McLean; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to First United Methodist Church. Amarillo Daily News Oct. 25, 1999 Lesa Michelle Sparkman QUANAH - Lesa Michelle Sparkman, 37, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jesse Dea, retired minister, officiating. Burial will be in Quanah Memorial Park by Price-Jackson Funeral Home. Mrs. Sparkman was born in Lamesa and graduated from Childress High School and Oklahoma State University. She taught seventh and eighth grade in the Quanah Independent School District, was a cheerleader sponsor and member of the Association of Professional Educators. She attended First United Methodist Church. She married Mike Sparkman in 1984 at Childress. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Charly Sparkman of Quanah; a son, V.J. Sparkman of Quanah; her father, Bill Butler of Medford, Okla.; two brothers, Bill Butler Jr. of Plains and Randy Butler of Denver City; and her grandmother, Ruby Boyce of Lubbock. Amarillo Daily News Oct. 25, 1999 Amarillo Marianne Kennedy Hefner Marianne Kennedy Hefner, 76, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Ken Keller officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mrs. Hefner was born in Ironwood, Mich., and attended schools in Northern Wisconsin. After graduating from Ashland High School, she trained as a registered nurse at Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago. In 1949, she moved from Los Angeles to Amarillo and worked for the Bi-County Health Department, the State Department of Health, Northwest Texas Hospital and Baptist St. Anthony's Hospital. She retired in 1987. She married H.C. Hefner in 1947 at Las Vegas. He died in 1995. Survivors include three daughters, Bridget Hefner and Chris Elder, both of Amarillo, and Nora Graves of Hillsboro, Va.; and two grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the Friends of the Amarillo Public Library. Amarillo Daily News Oct. 25, 1999 James A. Brewer James A. Brewer, 78, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Oct. 24, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Rector Funeral Home Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St., with the Rev. Robert Owens, pastor of Pentecostal Holiness Church in Oklahoma City and the Rev. Harold Brewer, his son, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Brewer was born in Edom and moved to Amarillo in 1945 from Tyler. He served with the Army during World War II, and worked for Santa Fe Railway, Mead's Bakery, Cookbook Bakery, Johnson Pump, and retired from Blue Murrow Meats in 1986. His daughter, Darlene Brewer, died in 1971. He was also preceded in death by two sons, David Brewer in 1956, and Mike Brewer in 1992. He married Theresa Biscotto in 1947 at New Brunswick, N.J. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Gerald Brewer of Las Vegas, the Rev. Harold Brewer of Caney, Okla., and Glenn Brewer of Amarillo; a brother, C.A. Brewer of Goodnight; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News Oct. 25, 1999 Oklahoma Minnie Henrietta Johnson GUYMON, Okla. - Minnie Henrietta Johnson, 96, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999, in Liberal, Kan. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Morning Star United Methodist Church in Hough, Okla., with Pastor Gary Shryock officiating. Burial will be in Hooker Cemetery by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home of Hooker. Mrs. Johnson was born in Leavenworth, Kan., and in 1910, moved with her family to the homestead north of Guymon. She was a member of the United Mine Workers and the Home Builders Club and attended the Morning Star United Methodist Church in Hough. She married Arlow E. Johnson in 1926 at Guymon. He died in 1963. Survivors include a daughter, Mildred Ivie of rural Guymon; a sister, Pear Bilger of Hurst; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Englunds Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Paul Jantzen officiating and the Rev. John Pratt assisting. Burial will be in Englewood Cemetery. Mr. Kitchens was born in Ravia, Okla., and moved to the Posey community in 1936 from Stratford, Okla. Until his retirement in 1977, he was a cotton farmer in the Slaton and Posey areas. He was a Sunday school teacher, deacon of the Assembly of God, past democratic chairman of precinct No. 35, and had served on the Posey School board. He married Myrtle Townsend in 1933 at Pontotoc, Okla. She died in 1993. Survivors include two sons, Paul D. Kitchens and Dale Kitchens, both of Slaton; a daughter, Dorothy Morton of Plainview; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Ireson Jr., 72, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Michael Hartwell officiating. Mr. Ireson was born in Stone, Ky. He was a retired maintenance engineer for Holiday Inn and a Baptist. Survivors include his wife, Lois Gartin Ireson of Ethel; a daughter, Debbie Morrison of Amarillo; three stepdaughters, Easter Jo Newsome and Delilah Monday, both of Pensacola, Fla., and Patricia Shelton of Cleveland, Ohio; a stepson, Eddie Walsh of Chapmanville; two sisters, Betty Gartin of Mudfork and Evelyn Dorton of Whitman; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
