Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Church of the Nazarene with Shawn Fouts, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Phillips was born in Littlefield and grew up in Plainview, where he was a 1966 graduate of Plainview High School. He retired after 11 years with the U.S. Postal Service and was a member of Church of the Nazarene. Survivors include his mother, Vera Phillips of Plainview; his father, Norman Phillips of Plainview; a brother, Joseph Edward Phillips of Dallas; and two sisters, Karen Hutson of Dimmitt and Debbie Crosby of Plainview. The family suggests memorials be to Church of the Nazarene in Plainview. Ricardo M. Serna DUMAS - Ricardo M. Serna, 29, died Saturday, July 24, 1999, in Amarillo. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Templo Elim De Las Asambleas De Dios with the Rev. Jose I. Contreras, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Serna was born in San Saba and attended schools in Dumas, where he had lived for most of his life. He was a truck driver and a member of Templo Elim De Las Asambleas De Dios. Survivors include his parents, Frank and Tomie Serna of Dumas; five sisters, Sylvia Busch of Stratford, Sara Trevino, Sally Lucero, Martha Casanova and Marlo Serna, all of Dumas. The family will be at 924 Binkley in Dumas. Joe W. Ogden PERRYTON - Joe W. Ogden, 69, died Sunday, July 25, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Church of Christ with Terry Danley officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home in Perryton. Mr. Ogden was born in Lefors and moved to the Perryton area 35 years ago. He graduated from West Texas State University, where he played with the Sun Bowl Championship team in 1950. He coached in Gruver and Perryton, taught school in Amarillo and from 1961 until 1972, worked for Perryton Furniture. In 1977, he founded Ogden Insurance Agency, where he worked until his retirement in 1997. He was Ranger Loan Fund President, a member of the Perryton Lion's Club, where he was past president, and served on the United Way Board. He was also active in the Boy Scouts, and was a YMCA coach, Gold Star Citizen, Citizen of the Year, and Kiwanis Workhorse of the Year. He married Louise Keeton in 1949 at Pampa. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Joe Keith Ogden and Paul Ogden, both of Perryton; a daughter, Ruth Ann Vessels of Dumas; two sisters, Mary Martin of Arlington and Mary Hughes of Ardmore, Okla.; a brother, Carl Ogden of Farmington, N.M.; and eight grandchildren. Maryzella Monk DIMMITT - Maryzella Monk, 85, died Saturday, July 24, 1999. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Borden County Cemetery in Gail with the Rev. Rusty Dickerson, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Dimmitt, officiating. Burial will be in Borden County Cemetery by Foskey-LilleyMcGill Funeral Home. Mrs. Monk was born in Galveston and grew up in Plainview. She lived in Abernathy for 24 years, in Gail for 20 years and in Graham for 3 years. In 1992, she moved to Dimmitt, where she was a member of First United Methodist Church. She married Marvin M. Monk in 1932 at Plainview. He died in 1992. Survivors include two daughters, Linda Koch of Dimmitt and Gaye Monk of Graham; and a son, Larry Monk of Tahoka. The family suggests memorials be to Crown of Texas Hospice in Amarillo. Gladys A. Thompson BORGER - Gladys A. Thompson, 86, died Friday, July 23, 1999. Services will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday in Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Robert Kuhlmann, interim pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Good Shepard in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors. Mrs. Thompson was born in Bosque County. In 1944, she moved from Clifton to Borger, where she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Home Demonstration Club. Her husband, Percy Thompson died in 1994. She was also preceded in death by a son, John Thompson, in 1998, and two grandchildren. Survivors include a son, Reuben Thompson of Borger; a daughter, Virginia Woods of Palestine; four brothers, Arthur John Golden of Mound, Tommy Golden and Clarence Golden, both of Valley Mills and Felix Golden of Pasadena; a sister, Julia Solberg of Clifton; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Flora Stanford DIMMITT - Flora Stanford, 96, died Saturday, July 24, 1999. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Weldon McCormick of Lubbock, former pastor, officiating, and the Rev. Rusty Dickerson, pastor, assisting. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at Amarillo by Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home. Mrs. Stanford was born in Plano. She attended schools in Plano and attended Kidd Key College in Sherman. She married the Rev. E. Lee Stanford in 1925 at Plano. He died in 1972. She lived in Chisholm, Petrolia, Bellevue, Van Alstyne, Paris, Greenville, Hale Center, Miami, Amarillo, Dimmitt, Abernathy, Lockney, Olton and Clarendon. She also traveled throughout Europe and the Holy Land. In 1961, she and her husband were chosen to represent the Northwest Texas Conference at the World Methodist Ecumenical Conference. Survivors include a daughter, Arvalee Saul of Houston; two sons, Jess Stanford of San Angelo and Paul Stanford of Albuquerque, N.M.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-greatgrandchild. The family suggests memorials be to First United Methodist Church in Dimmitt. Jerry Dean McKay HART - Jerry Dean McKay, 55, a former resident of Dimmitt, died Thursday, July 22, 1999, in Florida. Mr. McKay was born in Deport and moved to High Springs, Fla. in 1990 from Dimmitt. For 34 years, he was the owner and manager of Jerry's Barber Shop in Gainesville, Fla. Survivors include his wife, Carol Sue McKay; two sons, Rickey McKay of Whitharral and Ron McKay of High Springs; his mother, Veda McKay of Bovina; a brother, Larry McKay of Alabama; and a sister, Wanda Thurman of Paint Rock. Amarillo Toby Ray Kirkland Toby Ray Kirkland, 19, of Amarillo, died Thursday, July 22, 1999, near Guymon, Okla. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Kirkland was born in Amarillo and just recently moved to Guymon. He graduated from Randall High School in 1999, where he played football. He was a cowboy, a member of Future Farmers of America and a member of Rockwell Baptist Church. Survivors include his parents, Gerald M. and Angie L. Kirkland of Amarillo; his grandparents, Joe Kirkland and Zonia Grund of Amarillo and Frank and Marge Norfleet of Valle De Oro; a brother, Mikee Kirkland of Amarillo; and a sister, Christy McFarlin of Amarillo. The family will be at 923 S. Lamar Street in Amarillo and suggests memorials be to Amarillo College Foundation. Laura Mae Freudiger Laura Mae Freudiger, 89, died Sunday, July 25, 1999. Mrs. Freudiger was born in Woods, Okla. and was a cook and confectioner. She was a member of San Jacinto Assembly of God. Her husband, Daniel Hayden Freudiger, preceded her in death. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Esley Bailey of Amarillo; four daughters, Yvette Bailey, Felita Bailey, Dorothy Fields and Greta Gentry, all of Amarillo; 24 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Jones was born in Comanche, Okla. and in 1927 moved to Hereford, where she attended Hereford High School and was a charter member of Frio Baptist Church. She moved to Canyon in 1986. She married Elmer V. Jones in 1932 at Clovis, N.M. He died in 1987. Her daughter, Freeda Colleene Jones, died in 1937. Survivors include two daughters, Patsy Findley and Marilyn Cope, both of Canyon; a sister, Ruby Sparkman of Hereford; six grandchildren; and nine greatgrandchildren. Warner, 89, died Saturday, July 24, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in First Church of God. Burial will be in the Elkhart Cemetery by Harrell Funeral Home. Mrs. Warner was born in Chanute and had lived in Elkhart since 1947. She was a homemaker and a member of Church of God, Friendly Neighbors Club and 4-H Club, where she was a club leader of Watch Us Grow. Survivors include three daughters, Mary Lou Kenney of Texhoma, Okla., JoAnne Haar of Elkhart and Maxine Wallack of Hutchinson; a brother, Bill Newell of Olathe; nine grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
