Services will be at 10 a.m. today in First Christian Church with J. Dean McNamara of the church officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home of Plainview. Mrs. Williams was born in Custer City, Okla., and graduated from nursing school in Clinton, Okla. She moved to Plainview in 1938 from Clinton. She was a member of First Christian Church, Covenant Hospital Pink Ladies Auxiliary, Eastern Star and did volunteer work at the Eleanor Griffith Child Care Center. She married Orva Neal Williams in 1936 at Clinton. He died in 1977. Survivors include two sons, Coleman Williams and Tim Williams, both of Plainview; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Mr. Barefield was born in Mineral Springs, Ark., and worked with the CCC during the 1930s. A retired farmer, he was a member of First Baptist Church and had been a deacon and song director at the Missionary Baptist Church in Turkey. He married Iva Smith in 1935 at Quitaque. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Patricia Burnam of Amarillo, Ann Bingham of Big Spring and Frankie Pittman of Wolfforth; two sons, Phil Barefield of Aspermont and Joe Barefield of Forney; four brothers, W.D. Born in Amarillo, Mr. Middleton had been a Borger resident since 1959. During World War II, he served in the Army. He was a substation supervisor for Southwestern Public Service. Mrs. Knowlton was born in Rockwell City, Iowa, and moved to Hereford in 1985 from Springer, N.M. She was a licensed nurse and member of First United Methodist Church. She married the Rev. Orville Knowlton in 1934 at Sioux City, Iowa. She was preceded in death by a son, Duane Knowlton, in 1995. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Scherlyn Jean VanDusen of Sioux City; a brother, Arlo Campbell of Portland, Ore.; two grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Bowen officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by Memphis Funeral Home. Mr. Phillips was born in Hall County where and was a lifelong Memphis resident. During World War II, he served in the Army with the 96th Infantry Division. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and the First Baptist Church. He married Iva Dean Browning in 1949 at Vernon. In 1984, he retired from the street department for the City of Moore, Okla., and moved to Mobeetie. He was a member of the Miami Church of Christ. He married Doris Henderson in 1952 at Duncan, Okla. He was preceded in death by a son, Rick Whaley, in 1983. Travis LaDuke, retired Baptist minister, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Hass Funeral Home of Dalhart. Mrs. Lathem was born in Trinidad, Colo., and raised in the Bunkerhill and Clayton areas. She graduated from Clayton High School. After her marriage, she made her home on a ranch south of Dalhart for 49 years and was active in the Dalhart community. She married Ed Lathem in 1950 at Dalhart. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Chester Lathem of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Bill Lathem of Dalhart; two daughters, Pat Lathem of Nashville, Tenn., and Pam Lathem of Houston; two brothers, Wayne Brown and Bob Brown, both of Dalhart; three sisters, Doris Laney and Cletus Gross, both of Dalhart, and Glenna Robinson of Hartley; and two grandsons. Fifteen years ago, she moved to Amarillo from Blue Jacket, Okla. She was a homemaker and member of Cliffside Baptist Church in Amarillo. She married Melvin Morse Hayward in 1944 at Hays, Kan. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Melvin Wilson Hayward of Lubbock, and Walter Myrl Hayward of Sand Springs, Okla.; a brother, Dewey Wilson of Midland; five sisters, Betty Wilson, Frankye Bain, Shirley Jones and Charlotte Johnson, all of Amarillo, and Glenda Bailey of Itasca; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, Nov. 26, 1999 H.C. Clark HOWARDWICK - H.C. Clark, 75, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Clarendon Church of Christ with Brian Gochenour, minister, officiating. Burial with Masonic rites will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Amarillo by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon. Mr. Clark was born in Kent County. He had lived in Amarillo for 17 years before moving to Howardwick 27 years ago. During World War II, he served in the Army. He retired as a farmer and a contractor. Mr. Clark served as Howardwick mayor for three years. He was a member of Clarendon Masonic Lodge No. 700 and the Church of Christ. He married Bettye Zimmerman in 1949. She died in 1996. Survivors include two daughters, Christine Kimbrell and Charlotte Thomas, both of Amarillo; a son, John David Clark of Lewisville; and six grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, Nov. 26, 1999 Amarillo Bernie H. Clower Bernie H. Clower, 81, of Amarillo and formerly of Tulia, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Wallace Funeral Home Chapel in Tulia with the Rev. Charles Davenport, pastor of First Baptist Church in Tulia, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mr. Clower was born in Hobart, Okla., and moved to Tulia when he was 11 years old. He graduated from Tulia High School where he participated in football, basketball, track and class plays. After attending Texas Tech University, Mr. Clower was employed by the First National Bank in Tulia. Later, he worked for the Wichita National Bank in Wichita Falls where he lived for six years. He was a member of Lamar Avenue Baptist Church. During World War II, he was engaged in defense work at Continental Oil Refinery. In 1946, he attended horology school at Hardin Junior College in Wichita Falls. After graduation, he returned to Tulia where he owned and operated Clower Jewelry for 30 years. Mr. Clower was a member of the First Baptist Church in Tulia, the JCs, Kiwanis Club, Lions Club, Better Business Bureau and the School Booster Club. In 1975, he sold his jewelry business and worked for Murray Jewelry in Longview for 10 years. He was a member of Greggton First Baptist Church. In 1990, he retired and, in 1992, moved to Meridian, Idaho, where he joined the Cherry Lane Christian Church. In 1998, he moved to Amarillo and was a member of the Paramount Terrace Christian Church. He married Dorothy Marie McCune in 1940 at Tulia. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Dolores Clower. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Diane Mosley of Amarillo and Deedra Kelley of Longview; a son, Don Clower of Meridian; and a sister, Beatrice Cantrell of Amarillo. Amarillo Daily News, Nov. 26, 1999 Hazel Satterwhite Hazel Satterwhite, 92, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Ron Holmes, associate minister of Westminster Presbyterian Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Satterwhite was born in Dallas then later moved to Abilene. In 1961, she moved to Amarillo. She was a member of the Daughters of the Confederacy and the Westminster Presbyterian Church where she served as church librarian and was in the Byron Gist Sunday School Class. She married Elmer C. Satterwhite in Dallas. He died in 1966. Survivors include two sons, William G. Satterwhite of Amarillo and E.C. Satterwhite of Lubbock; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family will be at 1802 Lawson Lane and will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family suggest memorials be to a favorite charity. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ron Brewer officiating. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis. Mrs. Davis was born in Florence, Italy, and met Lester U. Davis during World War II in Italy. In 1947, she came to America through Ellis Island and married Mr. Davis at San Jon. They farmed in Grady until they moved to Clovis in the early 1960s and operated a TV repair shop. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and served as a communion steward for 18 years. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1989. Mrs. White was born in Snyder and moved to Lamesa from Godley in 1937. During World War II, she moved to Oakland, Calif., then returned to Lamesa. She was a homemaker and member of Second Baptist Church. She married J.W. White Sr. in 1929 at Cleburne. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988 and by two sons, John Willie White Jr. and Charles Edward White, in 1956. Survivors include a daughter, Elnora Boothe of Amarillo; a son, Benny White of Lamesa; a brother, T.F. Davis of Post; five grandchildren; and five grandchildren. Irelan, 65, died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Forum Boulevard Christian Church with the Rev. Max Jennings officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery by Nilson Funeral Home of Columbia. Mr. Irelan was born in La Junta, Colo. He graduated with a degree in industrial design from Cleveland Institute of Art in Cleveland, Ohio. He was employed by Sunbeam Corp., and later as an industrial designer by McGraw Edison in Chicago. Mr. Irelan moved to Columbia in 1975. He was a member of the Forum Boulevard Christian Church, Kwahadi Indian Boy Scout Troop and the Booneslick Chordbusters. He married Donnis Plunk in 1959 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Shaun Irelan of Red Oak, Iowa, and Todd Irelan of Columbia; his mother, Ruby Irelan of Oklahoma City; a brother, Smiley Irelan of Shawnee, Okla.; and a sister, Alice Whittington of Oklahoma City. Visitation will be from 1 until 2 p.m. Sunday at the church. Amarillo Daily News, Nov. 26, 1999 L.D. Spears LITTLEFIELD - L.D. Spears, 83, of Lubbock, died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Hammons Funeral Home Chapel in Littlefield with Loren Quick and Darren Bryan officiating. Burial will be in Littlefield Memorial Park. Mr. Spears was born in Buda. From 1937 until 1955, he worked as a welder and farmed in Lamb County. In 1955, he moved to California where he was a member of the operating engineers. He returned to Littlefield in 1982 where he lived until moving to Lubbock in 1998. He married Mary Beth Walden in 1939 at Littlefield. Survivors include his wife; a son, Dan Spears of Fairbanks, Alaska; two daughters, Joyce Miller of Merced, Calif., and Marynell Spears of Sterling, Colo.; a brother, George Spears of Hobbs, N.M.; a sister, Gladys Fox of San Antonio; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
