Creed PAMPA - Margaret J. Creed, 59, died Monday, Jan. 25, 1999. Cremation was by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Memorial services will be at a later date. Mrs. Creed was born in Pampa, where she was a lifelong resident. She graduated from Borger High School in 1957 and from Baptist Memorial Nursing School at San Antonio in 1960. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church and worked at Coronado Hospital until retiring in 1989. She also worked for Agape Home Health Care from 1991 to 1993. She married John Creed in 1981 at Pampa. Survivors include her husband; a son, Leo Dean Rhoten Jr. of Star, Idaho; four daughters, Karla R. Burns and Margaret Ann Hagemann, both of Pampa, Cindy Thomas of Amarillo and Michelle Grumbles of Austin; a stepson, John David Creed of Black Rock, Ark.; her parents, Marion and Lelah Carey of Carlsbad, N.M.; three brothers, Byron Carey of Dumas, Kenneth Carey of Houston and Roy Carey of Carlsbad; three sisters, Marriann Rinn of McKinney, Bobbie Moore of Carlsbad and Kay Martin of Houston; 11 grandchildren; a great-grandson; many foster children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Richard Wooten DIMMITT - Richard Wooten, 85, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Ivey Chapel at Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home in Dimmitt with Roy Barringer, former pastor of First Christian Church in Dimmitt, officiating. Burial will be at Westlawn Memorial Park in Dimmitt. Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Mr. Wooten was born in Erick, Okla. He moved to Dimmitt in 1946 and was engaged in farming. He moved to Vinita, Okla., in 1956, where he farmed, ranched and sold real estate until 1969 when he retired and moved back to Dimmitt. He married Ruth Roach in 1940 in Beckham County, Okla. Survivors include his wife; and 12 nieces and nephews. Cecil Ladell Tonguet SHAMROCK - Cecil Ladell Tonguet, 56, died Monday, Jan. 25, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Eleventh Street Baptist Church with Allen Strickland officiating. Margaret Jewel Baker Snowdon MEMPHIS - Margaret Jewel Baker Snowdon, 80, died Sunday, Jan. 24, 1999. Services will be at 1 p.m. today at the First United Methodist Church of Memphis with the Rev. Neely Landrum and the Rev. Tommy Ewing officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Memphis. Memphis Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Mrs. Snowdon was born in Memphis. She worked at the Burlington Sheet Factory, Perry's and Hall County Hospital. She was a dorm mother at Northwest Texas School of Nursing and helped begin the Meals on Wheels program in Memphis. She was a member of the Hall County Hospital Auxiliary. She also belonged to the Methodist Church Victory Sunday School Class and choir for more than 50 years. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Odd Fellows and the Rebekahs. She married Charles Thomas Snowdon in Lawton, Okla., in 1938. He preceded her in death in 1967. Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Elaine Snowdon Baker of Phoenix and Anita Louise Snowdon Mitchell of Hedley; two sons, Charles Thomas Snowdon Jr. of Cedar Park and Fred Earl Snowdon of Grandbury; one sister, Alice Hill of Wink; and one brother, Ray Baker of Fort Worth. She married Arlin Bartel in 1977 in Borger. Survivors included her husband, Arlin; two sons, Charles Ray Hampton of Chehalis, Wash., and Kenneth Arlin Bartel of Anchorage, Alaska; two daughters, Karen Bradshaw of Harvey, La., and Barbara Poindexter of Klamath Falls, Ore.; a brother, Dennis Weeks of Denham Springs, La.; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Gulley was born in Uvalde and graduated from Uvalde High School in 1927. She attended Sul Ross State University in Alpine. She assisted in writing a number of the historical accounts seen on state historical markers found throughout Uvalde County. She was a longtime Uvalde County election judge and a charter member of the Uvalde de las Encinas Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a charter member of the Caddel-Smith Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. She was a member and past Worthy Matron of the Uvalde Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and an honorary member and past president of El Progreso Club. She married David Gulley in 1927 in Uvalde. He died in 1992. Survivors include a daughter, Clarice Gulley Fisher Satel of San Antonio and Leakey; two sons, Judge David Wesley Gulley of Hereford and Haygood Gulley of Del Rio; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Amarillo Sylvia Willingham Sylvia Willingham, 60, of Amarillo, died Monday, Jan. 25, 1999. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Memory Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. She married Carrol Willingham in 1958 at Borger. They moved to Amarillo in 1965. She worked as a bank teller in Amarillo for many years, retiring in 1994 from Bank One. She was a member of Trinity Fellowship Church. Survivors include her husband; three sons, Randy Willingham and Jack Willingham, both of Amarillo and Tracy Willingham of Lubbock; two sisters, Becky Wilbanks of Arlington and Marcy McCoy of Edmond, Okla.; and seven grandchildren. She married Earl Willoughby in 1943 in Amarillo. She was a homemaker and had been secretary for the Gunsmoke Bowling League, the Hit and Miss League and Pin Washer League. She was a Baptist. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Robert Earl Willoughby of Grand Forks, N.D., and Larry Dean Willoughby of Oklahoma City; a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Dougherty of Amarillo; two brothers, G.T. Johnson and J.R. Johnson, both of Amarillo; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Roy B. Morris Roy B. Morris, 76, of Amarillo, died Friday, Jan. 22, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church with A.L. Gipson, pastor of Jerusalem Church of God in Christ in Amarillo, and the Rev. Vurn C. Martin, pastor of Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Morris was born in Ladonia. He was educated in Ladonia and had lived in Amarillo for 50 years. He was a construction worker and a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. Survivors include his wife, Sandra Morris of the home; his mother, Mamie Shaw of Amarillo; two sons, Billy Morris of Los Angeles and Donnie Joe Morris of Houston; three daughters, Barbara Johnson of Amarillo, Donna K. Singleterry of Wichita Falls and Janice Matthews of Atlanta, Ga.; four stepdaughters, Shonda Burgess, Rhonda Burgess, Wanda Burgess and Twanda Burgess, all of Amarillo; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Winfred Middleton Winfred "Whitey" Middleton, 83, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Jan. 24, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Christian Church of Memphis with Tom Posey officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery at Lakeview by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Middleton was born in Lakeview and moved to Amarillo in 1954 from Memphis. He ran the first Ford Tractor and Implement Co. in the Memphis area. After moving to Amarillo, he owned and operated Middleton Finance Co. from 1955 until 1975. He then owned and operated Middleton Motors from 1978 to 1991 until retiring. His wife, Ruth McQueen, died in 1982. Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Malone of Amarillo; and a son, Marvin Middleton of Key West, Fla. He was an insurance adjuster and a member of Paramount Terrace Christian Church. He was a past master of Masonic Lodge 805 at Miami, Texas, and was a member of the National Association of Catastrophe Adjusters. He married Vicki Hartzo in 1989 at Possum Kingdom. Burial will be in Melrose Cemetery by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis. Mr. Hepler was born in Williams, Texas, and was a longtime resident of Melrose. Mr. Billingsley was born in Pecan Gap, Texas, and had lived in the Lariat/Farwell area since 1948. He married Clara Mae Copeland in 1936 at Morton, Texas. He farmed in the Lariat area until 1975 and helped his wife operate Clara's Spur Restaurant at Texico until 1980. Survivors include his wife; children, Toni Betty of Cocan, Texas, Phillip Billingsley of Las Cruces and Sherry Childs of Albuquerque; a sister, Lou Ellen Ogletree of Oroville, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Oklahoma Dave Alexander Meiers BUFFALO, Okla. - Dave Alexander Meiers, 87, a former resident of Hooker, died Friday, Jan. 22, 1999. Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Hooker Cemetery with the Rev. Robert J. Herrod of St. John Lutheran Church in Hooker officiating. Arrangements were by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Meiers was born in Driespbitz, Russia, and moved to Ellenwood, Kan., with his family when he was a year old. In 1915, they moved to Hooker. Survivors include two sisters, Emma Mitchell of Liberal, Kan., and Minnie Cooper of Springfield, Ill. Lynn Turner BRISTOW, Okla. - Lynn Turner, 43, a former Pampa, Texas, resident, died Monday, Jan. 25, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the First Baptist Church at Pampa with the Rev. John Glover, associate pastor, and the Rev. Melvin Harris, pastor of the Priest Park Church of God in Pampa, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery at Pampa by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mrs. Turner was born in Amarillo and was a longtime resident of Pampa before moving to Bristow in March. She was a 1973 graduate of Pampa High School and attended Hardin-Simmons University at Abilene for one year. She was a legal secretary in Pampa for six years and had been a secretary for the First Baptist Church of Bristow for the last 10 months. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pampa for many years, serving as a Sunday school teacher. She was active in the choir and was a member of the Ladies Vocal Ensemble. She directed the children's choir and played handbells. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bristow. While in Pampa, she served as stage manager for the Pampa Elementary Chorus musicals for several years. She married David Paul Turner in 1973. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Jaclyn Gail Turner of the home and Carson Beth Turner of Shawnee, Okla.; her mother, Anita Ford of Bristow; her father, Noel Martin; stepmother, Gladys Walker of Amarillo; two sisters, Raynita Aud of Carmi, Ill., and Renee Lincoln of Amarillo; and a brother, Charles Walker of Amarillo. The family will be at 2223 Charles in Pampa.
