Hughes St. Mrs. Bailey was born in Camp Hill, Ala., and moved to Amarillo from Albuquerque, N.M., in 1958. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Esley Bailey of Oklahoma City, Okla.; six daughters, Yvette Bailey, Felita Bailey, Dorothy Fields and Toroy Bryson, all of Amarillo, Greta Gentry of Temple and Kathleen Anthony of Sacramento, Calif.; 24 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. The family will be at 2415 N. Osage St. Creighdon Roy Ward Creighdon Roy Ward, 70, died Sunday, July 25, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with Coy Wylie, pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Ward was born in Endicott, N.Y., and moved to Amarillo in 1952 from Maine, N.Y. He graduated from high school in New York and attended Amarillo College for two years. He had worked for the city of Amarillo and was the owner and operator of Creg Ward Music. He served in the Air Force during peace time. He married Jeanne Warner in 1947 at Newark Valley, N.Y. She died in 1998. Survivors include a son, Mike Ward of Amarillo; a daughter, Kay Albright of Amarillo; a brother, Merle Ward of New York; a sister, Muriel Olson of New York; seven grandchildren; and five greatgrandchildren. Charlie Cornett Charlie Cornett, 50, of Amarillo, died Friday, July 23, 1999, in Kingman, Ariz. Memorial services will be at noon Sunday at his home in Amarillo, 14601 White Tail. Cremation was in Arizona by Sutton Memorial Funeral Home of Kingman. Mr. Cornett was born in Fabens and moved to Amarillo in 1984 from Fabens. He attended the Church of Christ. He was a truck driver for D.F.C. Trucking Co. of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. He married Debra Manry in 1984 in Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Michael Tucker and Lonnie Tucker, both of Amarillo, and Jason Cornett and Gail Scott Cornett, both of El Paso; three daughters, Bobbi Tucker of Amarillo, Robin Cornett of Lubbock and Lori Cornett of El Paso; two sisters, Peggy Ann Kemp of Bronte and Dorothy Sue Vantyle of Baton Rouge, La.; a brother, Robert Cornett of Baton Rouge; and a grandchild. John Sisemore Nunn John Sisemore Nunn, 72, of Amarillo, died Sunday, July 25, 1999. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He had worked in quality control at the Pantex plant, retiring after 37 years. He married Rowena Fulgham in 1947 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; a son, Michael Glenn Nunn of San Felipe; a brother, Fred Wright Nunn of Amarillo; a sister, Mamie Lou Allred of Amarillo; and two grandsons. Roscoe Floyd Tennison Roscoe Floyd "Snooks" Tennison, 77, of Amarillo, died Sunday, July 25, 1999. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with the Rev. Tommy Ewing, a retired Methodist minister, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Tennison was born in Wellington. He was an Army veteran of World War II and served overseas. He married Lila Beth Lewellyn in 1947. He moved to Amarillo in 1947 from Wellington. He worked as a carpenter and later was a cook. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter No. 26 and the American Legion. He was a past member of the Moose Lodge and the Eagles. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Randall Howard Tennison, Floyd Leeman Tennison and Robert Dale Tennison, all of Amarillo; a daughter, Kathy Lou Vaughn of Tulia; two brother, Z.D. New Mexico David Edmon Mitchell LOGAN, N.M. - David Edmon "D.E." Mitchell, 95, died Sunday, July 25, 1999, in Clovis. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Logan New Mexico First Baptist Church with Cotton Mitchell, Baptist minister, officiating. Burial will be in the family plot in Logan Cemetery. Arrangements are by Dunn Funeral Home of Tucumcari. Mr. Mitchell was born near Dallas in Rockwell County, Texas. He was a past resident of Des Moines and had worked as a road maintainer for the New Mexico Highway Department. He later worked for the school system in Des Moines. He served as a custodian in the Portales schools a number of years before retiring in 1980 and moving to Logan. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Mr. Mitchell was preceded in death by his wife, Mapry Mitchell, in 1980. Survivors include three sons, Edmon Mitchell of Portales and Cotton Mitchell and Red Mitchell, both of Logan; a daughter, Pattie Ratliff of Victoria, Texas; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. Viewing is today until 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Dunn Funeral Home. Oklahoma Johnny L. Pracht GUYMON, Okla. - Johnny L. Pracht, 70, died Sunday, July 25, 1999. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Elmhurst Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Chaffin, pastor of Victory Memorial United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors. Mr. Pracht was born in Anthony, Kan., and was raised in Wakita. He graduated from Gore High School at Gore. He married Aloma Lee Rapp in 1952 at Enid. They lived in San Diego, Calif. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. After his discharge, they moved to Wichita, Kan., where he worked for Boeing Aircraft. They moved to Guymon in 1955. He retired from Adam's Hardfacing in 1989 after more than 40 years. He was a member of Victory Memorial United Methodist Church. He coached baseball and was instrumental in the building of several baseball fields in Guymon. He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Pracht. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Jacque Hyer of Guymon; two sons, Steven Pracht of Lindsay and Rodney Pracht of Claremore; a brother, Lewis Pracht of Denver; and four grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Sullan Funeral Home Chapel at Sterling, Kan. Burial will be in Raymond, Kan. Mr. Gilchrist was born in Wauketa, Okla. He married Lena Workman in 1951 at Clayton, N.M. They moved to Higgins in 1963. She preceded him in death in 1997. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He had worked as a well tender for William's Gas Co. for 25 years, retiring in 1977. He was a Baptist. Survivors include a daughter, Orline Baird of Pampa; two sons, Bobby Gilchrist of Amarillo and Lonnie Gilchrist of Texoma, Okla.; three brothers; three sisters; 10 grandchildren; and nine grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Crown of Texas Hospice in Pampa. Johnnie W. Penland PAMPA - Johnnie W. Penland, 81, died Sunday, July 25, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel with Dr. Derrell Monday, pastor of Central Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Penland was born in Altus, Okla., and had been a resident of Pampa for 41 years. He worked for Cabot Corp. as a machinist for 38 years before retiring. He was a member of Central Baptist Church. He was an Air Force Signal Corps veteran and had been stationed in Italy and France. He married Eva Mae Tarpley in 1936 at Altus. Survivors include his wife; a son, Ennis Penland of Amarillo; two brothers, Elmer Penland and Jack Penland, both of Dallas; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Make-A-Wish Foundation. Maggie Cobb HALE CENTER - Maggie Cobb, 77, died Sunday, July 25, 1999. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Parklawn Memorial Gardens at Plainview with Charles Broadhurst of Amarillo officiating. Arrangements are by Freeman-Abell Funeral Home. Mrs. Cobb was born in Quitaque. She attended school in Flomot and graduated there. She married Woodrow Wilson Cobb in 1945 at Quitaque. He died in 1997. She owned and operated a beauty business in Hale Center before going to work at Texas Instruments in Lubbock. She retired there in 1988. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Hale Center. Survivors include three daughters, Sharon Bussey of Petersburg, Rhonda Graham of Lubbock and Temmie Pigg of Yuma, Ariz.; a sister, Jean McCarver of Hale Center; two brothers, Jack Pigg and John Pigg, both of Quitaque; and two grandchildren. Bryan Knowles, pastor of Martin Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Rowe Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Directors Inc. Mr. Spalding was born in Grayson County and had lived in Hedley most of his life. He married Eloise Leach in 1933 at Wellington. She died in 1996. He was a longtime rancher and had served on the Hedley School Board and the Soil Conservation Service Board. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors include three daughters, Martha Lowe of Clarendon, Kathleen Pixley of Grove, Okla., and Sara Carter of Clayton, N.M.; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. The family will receive visitors from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Elsewhere Dorris King ELIZABETH, Pa. - Dorris Misher Dukeminier Williams King, 77, died Saturday, June 26, 1999. Services were June 30 at Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home with the Rev. Joyce Thomas officiating. Burial was in Round Hill Cemetery at Elizabeth Township. Mrs. King was born in Wellington, Texas. She was a 1939 graduate of Amarillo High School in Amarillo. She was a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church. Her husband, Clarence E. King Jr., preceded her in death. Survivors include a daughter, Bryna I. Scheuerle of Belle Vernon; a son, C. Edward King III of Elizabeth; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Tolbert Barton MENA, Ark. - Tolbert Barton, 84, died Monday, July 26, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Hall Funeral Service Chapel with Elder Dennis Horn officiating. Burial will be in the Board Camp Cemetery. Mr. Barton was born in Mill Creek Community at Mena. He married Bernice Swafford in 1943. He was a World War II veteran. He was a smelter worker for ARCO Steel Co. in Pennsylvania for 30 years and then moved back to Mena after his retirement. He was a member of Primitive Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife; two sons, John H. Barton in Fort Worth and Tolbert Barton Jr. in Albuquerque, N.M.; a daughter, Wanda Marie George of Mena; a sister, Ruby J. Price of Longview; and six grandchildren. Johnny Floyd Lackey LUBBOCK - Johnny Floyd Lackey, 65, died Monday, July 26, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Southcrest Baptist Church with Dr. David Wilson, pastor, and the Rev. Rob Lackey, a son, officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park by Resthaven Funeral Home. Mr. Lackey was born in Old Glory. He attended school in Haskell. He married Ruby Ann Hoot in 1952 at Abilene. She died in 1986. He married Ramona Dobbins Coe in 1988 at Stamford. He worked 34 years for White Swan Food Distributors, retiring as director of sales and marketing. He later worked two years for Dubco Foods, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Texas Restaurant Association. He moved to Lubbock from Odessa in 1969. Mr. Lackey was a member of Southcrest Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife; a son, Rob Lackey of Panhandle; a daughter, Annette Mooney of Atlanta, Ga.; a stepdaughter, Karen Henthorne of Stamford; a stepson, Brad Coe of Abilene; his mother, Quillie Lackey of Haskell; a sister, Barbara Jenkins of Waco; and 11 grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the Building Fund at Southcrest Baptist church; or the American Heart Association. Tommye Jo Cole PETERSBURG - Tommye Jo Cole, 74, died Monday, July 26, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sharon O'Quinn, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Petersburg Cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview. Mrs. Cole was born in Lubbock County. She was a lifetime resident the Petersburg area. She graduated from Idalou High School in 1942. She married Robert "Irvin" Cole in 1942 at Clovis, N.M. She had worked 24 years for the Petersburg Co-op Gin. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Methodist Women's Association, Home Demonstration Club and First United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Dayvid Cole of Lubbock and Sterley Bob Cole of State College, Pa.; a sister, Bobbye Greene of Plainview; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and one step-great-granddaughter.
