Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in White Deer Cemetery with the Rev. Rick Parnell, associate pastor of Central Baptist Church of Pampa, officiating. Arrangements are by CarmichaelWhatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Schmidt moved with her family from Loco, Stephens County, Indian Territory, to a farm near White Deer in a buggy and wagon. She had been a resident of the Pampa and White Deer areas most of her life. She graduated from Pampa High School and attended business college at Duncan, Okla. Mrs. Schmidt was a bookkeeper and a public accountant, and a Christian. During the war years of the 1940s, she served as the Gray County treasurer and as a chairwoman of the Community Chest Drive. She was a member of Central Baptist Church of Pampa. Survivors include a son, Jerry Schmidt of Houston; a sister, Iva Lee Thomas of Pampa; two granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren. David Brasher, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Fritch, officiating. Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Directors of Borger. Mr. Lindsey was born in Healdton, Okla., and had been a Stinnett resident for 47 years. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army 90th Infantry Artillery. He was a retired employee of Diamond Well Service and was a member of Stinnett United Methodist Church. He married Christine Cowen in 1942 at Odessa. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jesse Lindsey of Three Rivers, and Jim Lindsey of Stinnett; two daughters, Frances Mack of Fritch and Sandra Greer of Richland, Wash.; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Mrs. Vallance was born in Denton and was a longtime Memphis resident. A homemaker, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Victory Sunday School Class. Mrs. Brown was born in Clarendon and lived in Claude from 1942 until 1944, then returned to Claude in 1966. She owned the Three-Coin Laundry in Claude from 1968 until 1975. From 1975 until 1989, Mrs. Brown was employed by Bell Helicopter. She then worked for ATI in Fort Worth from 1989 until her retirement in 1992. She was a Methodist. Her first marriage was to Jack William Weeks in 1951. He died in 1966. Her second marriage was in 1968 to Aubrey Eugene Brown, who died in 1996. Survivors include a daughter, Chris Doyle of Claude; a son, David Weeks of Higgins; four sisters, Mildred Ellerd of Phoenix, Ruby James of Claude, Jonita Neal of Red Oak and Patsy Russell of Avalon; three brothers, James Berry of Belton, Bruce Berry of Montross, Va., and Frank Berry of Weatherford; and three grandchildren. He was a member of the Sixth and Gaines Church of Christ in Tulia. He married Kay Martin in 1978 at Canyon. He was preceded in death by a son, Andy James Barclay. Arrangements are by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mrs. Hefner was born in Ironwood, Mich. She attended schools in northern Wisconsin. After graduating from Ashland High School, she trained as a registered nurse at Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago. In 1949, she moved from Los Angeles to Amarillo and worked for the Bi-City County Health Department, the State Department of Health, Northwest Texas Hospital and Baptist St. Anthony's Hospital. She retired in 1987. She married H.C. Hefner in 1947 at Las Vegas. He died in 1995. Survivors include three daughters, Bridget Hefner and Chris Edler, both of Amarillo, and Nora Graves of Hillsboro, Va.; and two grandchildren. CouchW.H."Bill" Couch, 77, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Oct. 24, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sammie Rainey, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Posey Cemetery in Posey by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, 315 E. Fifth Ave. Born in Hopkins County, Mr. Couch joined the Naval Reserve Torpedo Net Division in 1941 and was stationed in New York. After the war, he worked in construction for the government. He worked between Weslaco and Mission lowering the salt flat then moved to Louisiana in 1947 to drain a swamp. Mr. Couch was transferred to Flint, Mich., in 1952 and later sent as an engineer on special assignment to Amarillo. After 28 years in Michigan, he retired and returned to Amarillo. Mr. Couch was manager of Amarillo Custom Box. He was a volunteer for Golden K and Habitat for Humanity where he served on the board for six years. With Gene Weaver, he put in a playground for Martha's Home plus worked on many Kiwanis projects. Awards that Mr. Couch received included the "Seven Who Care Award" in 1990 for outstanding community service and the Governors Award from Kiwanis International in 1993. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, San Jacinto Masonic Lodge No. 1330 and George F. Hixon Kiwanis International No. 8696. His second marriage was to Pauline Giersch. His first marriage was to Dorothy Taylor at New York. She died in 1988. Survivors include his wife; a son, John E. Mrs. Everett was born in Fayetteville, Ark., and moved to Stratford with her family when she was six weeks old. They later moved to Neals Switch and Lindsay. She married L.C. Everett in 1921 at Pauls Valley. He died in 1940. She lived in Wynnewood and Maysville before returning to Lindsay. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Maysville. Survivors include four children, Virginia Freeman of Maysville, Hubert Everett of Lindsay, Allene Timmons of Happy, and Dortha McCurley of Wheeler; a sister, Ruby Williams of Lindsay; 17 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great-grandchildren.
