Throughout her life, she lived in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas and Kansas. She was raised in the Apostolic Faith and later became a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Luke B. Arnett, in 1987 and a son, Lenvil D. Arnett. Survivors include a son, Luke E. Arnett of Los Lunas, N.M.; a granddaughter, with whom she lived, LaRonda Powell of Mulvane; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and nine great-greatgrandchildren. Micaela M. Ramirez Micaela M. Ramirez, 88, of Amarillo, died Sunday, April 25, 1999. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in N.S. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Rev. Hector Madrigal officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Ramirez was born in Amarillo. She was a homemaker and lifelong member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She married Rito Ramirez Sr. in 1935 at Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1984 and a son, Rito Ramirez Jr., in 1981. Survivors include a daughter, Consuelo Palacio of Amarillo; a son, Miguel Ramirez of Denver; three sisters, Juanita Spencer of Amarillo, Cleo Garcia of Santa Fe, N.M., and Cora Ramirez of California; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. The family will be at 1206 S. Arthur. Oleta B. Fiel Oleta B. Fiel, 56, of Amarillo, died Monday, April 26, 1999. Mrs. Fiel was born in Elk City, Okla., and moved to Amarillo in 1962 from Arnett, Okla. In Enid, Okla., she attended cosmetology school. She was owner of Fiel Printing Co., and was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. She married Jessie Fiel in 1962 at Lipscomb. Newell Golden Newell Golden, 100, of Amarillo, died Monday, April 26, 1999. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in East Mausoleum of Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Keith Cunningham officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Golden was born in Meridan and was a longtime Amarillo resident. He owned and operated the Golden Garage until his retirement. He was a member of the Valley View Church of the Nazarene. He married Eona Mae Golden 76 years ago in 1923. He was preceded in death by a son, Lt. Col. Elden Wayne Golden. Survivors include his wife; two grandsons; and two great-grandchildren. Melvin A. Davis Melvin A. Davis, 93, of Amarillo, died Sunday, April 25, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Polk Street United Methodist Church with Dr. Jim Garrett officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Davis was born in Bosque County and moved to the Texas Panhandle as a boy. He graduated from McLean High School and Clarendon College then attended Midwestern University. He retired in 1969 after 46 years as dispatcher for Burlington Railroad. Prior to moving to Amarillo in 1969, Mr. Davis lived in Plainview, Childress and Wichita Falls. From 1969 until 1976, he was an accountant for Jeff Bentley. He was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church, McDavid Sunday School Class and the Masons, where he was a master mason. He married Dr. Frances Benson in 1961 at Amarillo. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Macy Cogdell Davis, in 1959. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Virginia Davis Calkins of Houston and Patricia Davis Buzzell of Amarillo; a son, James M. Davis of Gainesville; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. New Mexico Charles E. Kincaid Sr. CLOVIS, N.M. - Charles E. "Charley" Kincaid Sr., 71, died Monday, April 26, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in The Chapel with the Rev. Troy Smothermon officiating. Military honors will be conducted by Cannon Air Force Base Honor Guard. Burial will be in Santa Fe National Cemetery by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis. Mr. Kincaid was born in Gastonia, N.C. He served in the Navy for a short time, then joined the Air Force. In 1975, he retired as an aircraft mechanic from the Air Force. After his retirement, Mr. Kincaid was employed by the Chaparal Package Store. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3280. He married Helen Yates House in 1956 at Clovis. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Charles E. Kincaid Jr. and Roy Keith Kincaid, both of Clovis; two daughters, Kathy Smith and Karen Dodge, both of Clovis; a brother, the Rev. Beulah Murray TUCUMCARI, N.M - Beulah Murray, 93, died Saturday, April 24, 1999, in Amarillo. Services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Dunn Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Bob Miller, minister of South Georgia Baptist Church in Amarillo, officiating. Burial was in the family plot at San Jon Cemetery at San Jon, N.M. Mrs. Murray was born in Reck, Okla., and had been a long time resident of Tucumcari. For the past year, she had lived in Amarillo. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Tucumcari. She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Murray, in 1981. Survivors include a son, George Murray of Amarillo; a granddaughter; and a great-granddaughter. Elsewhere Walterena Bassham LOUP CITY, Neb. - Walterena "Sue" Bassham, 59, died Sunday, April 25, 1999. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in United Methodist Church in Loup City with the Rev. Heidi Revelo officiating. Private cremation will follow the service. Arrangements are by Higgins Funeral Home of Loup City. Mrs. Bassham was born in Spur and was raised in Dumas where she attended school. She married Bobby Joe Beard in 1957 at Amarillo, where they lived until she returned to Dumas in 1970. In 1979, she moved to a farm near Elmwood, Okla. In 1986, Mrs. Bassham received an associate degree in criminal justice from McCook Community College. She moved to Loup City in 1991 where she was a member of the Loup City United Methodist Church. Her second marriage was to Teddy Jack Bassham Sr. in 1974 at Perryton. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Camilla Jaxine Carland. Survivors include three daughters, Dessa Kay Richardson of Tulsa, Lanessa Lee Hunt of Ord and Laneva Louise Ash of Junction City, Ore.; two sons, Clinton Dois Beard of Cowetta, Okla., and Teddy Jack Bassham Jr. of Ord; three sisters, Maxine Pixler of Kenta, Okla., Sharon Fisher of Golden, Okla., and Dickey Ann Herin of Isabel, Okla.; a brother, Jack Moore of Bovil; and 21 grandchildren. Oklahoma Robert Lewis Brixey NEWCASTLE, Okla. - Robert Lewis "Robby" Brixey, 42, died Monday, April 26, 1999, near Hooker. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the First United Methodist Church at Hooker with the Rev. David Cook officiating. Burial will be in Hooker Cemetery by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home of Hooker. Mr. Brixey was born in Liberal, Kan. He was raised and attended school in Hooker, graduating in 1975. He married Connie Judd in Hooker, where he farmed and worked in the oil fields. He later married Jamie North in Hooker and worked for Service Drilling Co. He moved to Newcastle, where he worked for Koch Oil Co. He later worked for Johnson Motors as a salesman in both Enid and Stillwater. He returned to Hooker because of his health. Survivors include three daughters, Megan Brixey of Marrysville, Mo., Mindy Snook of Hooker, and Brittany Brixey of Forgan; his parents, Buddy and Dell Brixey of Hooker; two sisters, Teresa Simpson of Hooker, and Janie Brixey of Auburn, Ala.; grandmother, Della Jenkins of Brownwood, Texas; and a grandson. Love GUYMON, Okla. - Robert V. "Bob" Love, 90, died Monday, April 26, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Victory Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mike Chaffin, pastor, officiating. Rites by the Odd Fellow will be with the burial in Elmhurst Cemetery. Arrangements are by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors of Guymon. Mr. Love was born in Farwell Draw in Texas County. After his mother's death when he was 10, he lived with his grandparents in Maryville, Tenn. He later returned to Guymon where he was a cowboy at the Hitch Ranch, farmed in Stratford and worked for the Santa Fe Railroad. In 1973, Mr. Love retired from the GTE Telephone Co., where he worked in Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico. He then worked as a church janitor. He was a longtime member of Victory Memorial United Methodist Church, and active in IOOF Lodge No. 51 where he served as Noble Grand in two separate terms. He married Mary Lile in 1936 at Guymon. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Blanche Kletecka of Guymon and LaVonne Honman of Hooker; two sisters, Helen Winters and Ruth Bennett, both of Guymon; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Edith Fankhouser HOOKER, Okla. - Edith Fankhouser, 84, of Yukon, died Sunday, April 25, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in United Methodist Church in Hooker with the Rev. David Cook officiating. Burial will be in Hooker Cemetery by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home. Mrs. Fankhouser was born and raised in Tyrone where she graduated from high school in 1932. She attended business school in Wichita for a year. After her marriage, she, her husband and brotherin-law traveled in south Texas and New Mexico building highways for four years until moving to Hooker. In Hooker, Mrs. Fankhouser managed the school cafeteria for Hooker Public Schools for 15 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and helped with funeral meals and the annual Ground Hog Supper. She married Dale Fankhouser in 1937 at Raton, N.M. He died in 1979. Survivors include two sons, Mike Fankhouser of Tulsa and Bill Fankhouser of Yukon; a daughter, Pat Roehr of Panhandle; 11 grandchildren; and 10 greatgrandchildren. He moved to Plainview in 1984, where he owned and operated a car body shop for several years. He also was a manager at Another Attic. He later worked at Best Western Motel and at the time of his death was employed at Holiday Inn Express in Plainview as a night auditor. He married Jill Antionette Pharis in 1996 at Plainview. Survivors include his wife; a son, Logan Patrick Garrett of Plainview; three brothers, Danny Garrett of Amarillo, Barry Garrett of Las Cruces, N.M., and Ronny Garrett of Nashville, Tenn.; a sister, Alisa Hale of Albuquerque, N.M.; his father, Wilford Dean "Pat" Garrett of Plainview; and grandmother, May Garrett of Clovis. She moved to Hobbs, N.M., in 1953 and returned to Dimmitt in 1971. She was a member of the Fourth and Bedford Street Church of Christ. She was a homemaker and had lived in the Canterbury Villa Nursing Home since 1983. She married William Lowrance in 1923 at Cisco. He died in 1971. Brett Richard Gill SILVERTON - Brett Richard Gill, 41, died Monday, April 26, 1999, at Dallas. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church at Lockney with the Rev. Russell Byard, pastor, officiating. Cremation was handled by Moore-Rose-White Funeral Home of Lockney. Mr. Gill was born in Lockney. He graduated from Silverton High School in 1976 and from West Texas State University with a bachelor's degree in accounting in 1980. He was a farmer and a lifelong resident of the Lockney/Silverton areas. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lockney where he served on several committees. He formerly served as the chairman of the Council of Ministries and was the former secretary of the Plainview District Methodist Men's Association. He married Judy Carole Birdwell in 1983 at Dimmitt. Since 1950, he had been a Lefors and Pampa resident. He worked for the Columbian Carbon Co., from 1942 until his retirement in 1964. He married Alcie Bogle in 1931 at Wilson, Okla. He was preceded in death by two sons, Melvin Steele, in 1937, and David Lee Steele in 1994. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Mrs. Schuessler was born in Memphis and lived in Colorado for 12 years before moving to Clarendon in 1981. She was a nurses aide for Medical Center Nursing Home in Clarendon and was a member of the Church of Christ. She married Leon Schuessler in 1953 at Memphis. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1990 and by a son, Jackie Leon Schussler, in 1986. Survivors include a son, Robert Dale Nichols of Troy; two sisters, Katherine Sargent and Effie Murray, both of Memphis; three brothers, Dorris Watson and Doyle Watson, both of Memphis, and Sammy Watson of Lakeview; and two grandchildren. Dorothy Reams PLAINVIEW - Dorothy Reams, 85, died Monday, April 26, 1999. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Plainview Memorial Park with Karl King, minister of Garland Street Church of Christ, officiating. Arrangements are by Lemons Funeral Home. Miss Reams was born in Spur and was raised in Plainview where she graduated from Plainview High School. She received her nursing degree from the Plainview Sanitarium and Clinic and also worked there as a nurse. During World War II, she was a nurse at the Borger hospital. After the war, Miss Reams returned to Plainview and worked at the hospital. During the 1960s, she was a school nurse for Plainview Independent School District. She then returned to the hospital and retired from Nichols Clinic. Survivors include a brother, Fred Reams of Westminster, Colo.; a sister, Lois Shelton of Shawnee, Okla.; and several nieces and nephews. Paul F. Spruell DUMAS - Paul F. Mr. Spruell was born in Flat, Mo., and was an Army veteran of World War II. A Dumas resident since 1951, he worked as a crane operator for Diamond Shamrock until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of North Plains Christian Church. In 1990, he married Margie Crisp at Dumas. His first marriage was in 1941 to Jo Rita Cowdrey at Stratford. She died in 1983. His second marriage was to Margaret Eavenson in 1985 at Dumas. She died in 1988. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Bill Spruell of Dumas and Terry Spruell of Fritch; three daughters, Paula Jo Presley of Colorado Springs, Colo., Debbie Peterson of Dumas and Suzie Bradberry of Canyon; two stepsons, Steve Crisp of Plainview and Cody Crisp of Angelton; four stepdaughters, Elaine Willis of Dumas, Charlene Hossack of Orangevale, Calif., Debbie Shugars of Simpson, La., and Laura Kurtz of Angelton; 17 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The family will be at 208 Cedar. They suggest memorials be to Memorial Hospice, 224 E. Second, Dumas, TX 79029. Wilburn Martin Davis Jr. MEMPHIS - Wilburn Martin "W.M." Davis Jr., 78, died Tuesday, April 27, 1999. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Church of Christ with Tom Anderson officiating. Arrangements are by Memphis Funeral Home. Mr. Davis was a three-year veteran of the Navy during World War II where he served in the Southwest Pacific on the USS Breton. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. For most of his life, he was a farmer and rancher. He managed the Memphis Veterinary Clinic for nine years until his retirement in 1986. He was past president of the Farm Bureau and an adult Scout leader for a number of years. A member of the Church of Christ, he served as an elder for 26 years. He married Iris Estell Rodgers in 1946 at Phoenix. Survivors include his wife; a son, Wiley Davis of Memphis; a daughter, Joan Schindler of Collinsville; two sisters, Louise Hodge of Memphis and Cressie Nester of Show Low, Ariz.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be to Fairview Cemetery Association or the Memphis Fire Department.
