Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in First United Methodist Church in Hedley with the Rev. James Ivey Edwards, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Clarendon, and the Rev. Bryan Knowles, pastor of Martin Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Rowe Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Directors Inc. Mr. Spalding was born in Grayson County and had lived in Hedley most of his life. He married Eloise Leach in 1933 at Wellington. She died in 1996. He was a longtime rancher and had served on the Hedley School Board and the Soil Conservation Service Board. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors include three daughters, Martha Lowe of Clarendon, Kathleen Pixley of Grove, Okla., and Sara Carter of Clayton, N.M.; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. The family will receive visitors from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Ada Hutton DALHART - Ada Hutton, 101, died Tuesday, July 27, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Hass Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Benson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Hutton was born in Fargo, Okla. She died just a few hours before her 102nd birthday. She was the oldest living Dalhart High School graduate. She ran Hutton Motor Co. with Neal Hutton for years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; a son, R.C. Hutton Jr.; and a daughter, Margie Bookout. Survivors include two daughters, Ellen Randle of Bellevue, Neb., and Mary Benson of Dumas; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Domingo B. Diaz HEREFORD - Domingo B. Diaz, 87, died Monday, July 26, 1999. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in Rix Funeral Home in Hereford. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in La Iglesia de San Jose Catholic Church with the Rev. Domingo Castillo officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery. Mr. Diaz was born in Stockdale. He was a farm laborer and a member of La Iglesia de San Jose Catholic Church. In 1940, he married Catarina Castilleja. She died in 1979. Survivors include three sons, Valentine Diaz, Domingo Diaz Jr. and Margareto Diaz, all of Hereford; five daughters, Nativida Murillo, Christina Castillo, Josie Moreno and Susie Casarez, all of Hereford, and Luiza Leal of Harlingen; 27 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Lela Block SUNRAY - Lela Block, 85, died Monday, July 26, 1999. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Sunray Baptist Church with the Rev. Winfred Walker, pastor of Highland Baptist Church of Albuquerque, N.M., officiating. Burial will be in Lane Memorial Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Block was born in Yukon, Okla. Prior to moving to Sunray four years ago, she had lived in Lake Tanglewood and was a former longtime Sunray resident. She was a homemaker and member of Sunray Baptist Church. She married B.F. Block in 1932 at Texico, N.M. He died in 1994. Survivors include three daughters, Wanda Clark of Austin, Marcia Stevens of Sunray and Pattii Block of Nacogdoches; a brother, Hassler Strickland of Lubbock; a sister, Stella Morton of Kress; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Marcellus Nance DIMMITT - Marcellus Nance, 79, of Hart, died Sunday, July 25, 1999. Mr. Nance was born in Banger, Okla. He was a farmer and veteran of World War II. He married Lillie Fisher in 1943 at Georgetown. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Lillie Molden of Plainview, Barbara Watson of Pueblo, Colo., Helen Forester of Sacramento, Calif., and Ida Randon of Mesa, Ariz.; two sons, Marcellus Nance Jr. of Los Angeles and George Nance of Houston; four brothers, Leroy Nance and Hanslee Nance, both of Clovis, N.M., John Nance of Sudan and James Nance of Denver; two sisters, Fastine Jackson and Beulah Sumerall, both of Denver; 21 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Ruby Elizabeth Moore PAMPA - Ruby Elizabeth Moore, 92, died Tuesday, July 27, 1999. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Memory Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. Mrs. Moore was born in Caps and moved to Pampa from Enid, Okla., in 1955. A homemaker, she was a member of First Baptist Church and the Pastor's Sunday School Class. She married Griffin Hubert Moore in 1938 at Altus, Okla. He died in 1967. Survivors include a brother, O.J. Pearson of Oklahoma City; three sisters, Josie Evanson of Seattle, Eula Millspaugh of Oklahoma City and Annie Morris of Fort Worth. Jewel Walker Morrow CLARENDON - Jewel Walker Morrow, 89, died Monday, July 26, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Truman Ledbetter, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Directors Inc. Mrs. Morrow was born in Malta and was a resident of Plainview from 1926 until 1945 when she moved to Clarendon. She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church. She married I.B. "Kenneth" Morrow in 1926 at Plainview. He died in 1992. Survivors include six daughters, Helen Myers of Lelia Lake, Lucy Torres of Memphis, Ina Blasingame and Maggie Stewart, both of Clarendon, and Mary Brown and Rosey Myers, both of Amarillo; three sons, Ira Kenneth Morrow, Earl Morrow and John Tom Morrow, all of Clarendon; 28 grandchildren; 57 greatgrandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and many step-great-grandchildren. Mabel Meacham MEMPHIS - Mabel Meacham, 95, died Monday, July 26, 1999. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church of Memphis with the Rev. Neely Landrum officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by Memphis Funeral Home. Mrs. Meacham was born in Leon, Okla., and was a longtime Hall County resident. For many years, she was a sales clerk in retail sales. She was a Methodist. She married Charlie Meacham in 1922 at Lakeview. Preceding her in death were her husband and twin daughters. Survivors include a daughter, Diane Hunt Antone of Rupert, Idaho; and a niece, Willie Murel McKnight of Plainview. The family suggests memorials be to United Methodist Church of Memphis. Garland Wallace Sr. PLAINVIEW - Garland Wallace Sr., 81, died Monday, July 26, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Lemons Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with David Milstead officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery. Mr. Wallace was born in Washataw County, Okla., and grew up in Cordell, Okla. In the late 1920s, he moved to Quanah. From 1936 until 1939, he served in the Civil Corps of Engineering then was in the medical corps during World War II. Mr. Wallace moved to Childress in 1939 and to Plainview in 1951. In 1980, he retired as a truck mechanic from Hatch-Isaacs Feed Mill. He married Elizabeth Simmons in 1942 at Hollis, Okla. Survivors include his wife; a son, Thomas B. Wallace of Lawton; a daughter, Barbara McMurrian of Plainview; two sisters, Allena Nelson of Lelia Lake and LaVon Hall of Plainview; six grandchildren including Rhonda Morton of Plainview, Rene Haarmeyer of Lubbock and Regina Maldonado of Ruidoso, N.M.; and four great-grandchildren. Amarillo Ruby Townsend Ruby Townsend, 50, of Amarillo, died Saturday, July 24, 1999. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. John T. Bowser, pastor of Galileo Church of God in Christ, officiating. The arrangements are by WarfordWalker Mortuary Inc., 509 N. Hughes St. Mrs. Townsend was born in Richland and had lived in Amarillo for 45 years. She attended Carver High School and Amarillo College School of Nursing. She was a member of Galileo Church of God in Christ. Survivors include her mother, Mrs. Jimmie Henly of Amarillo; a daughter, Brandi Townsend of Amarillo; and a stepdaughter, Chasity Cole of Amarillo. The family will be at 2402 Echo. Ellen McCown Fitch Ellen McCown Fitch, 92, of Amarillo died Monday, July 26, 1999. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Mullin Cemetery at Mullin with arrangements by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Fitch was born in Mills County and moved to Amarillo from Abilene in 1980. She was a member of Olsen Park Church of Christ. Her first marriage was in 1923 to Z.T. McCown at Mullin. He died in 1960. She married Robert Fitch in 1971 in Abilene. He died in 1981. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Dorothy McCown, in 1939. Survivors include a daughter, Nadine Smith of Amarillo; a son, James McCown of Amarillo; a sister, Loraine Williams of Mineola; six grandchildren; and eight great-grand children. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Richard Romero Richard "Dick" Romero, 81, of Amarillo, died Monday, July 26, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Hector Madrigal officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, 315 E. Fifth Ave. Mr. Romero was born in Santa Rosa, N.M., and moved to Amarillo 50 years ago. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He earned the Asiatic Pacific Ribbon, American Defense and Good Conduct medals, and three Bronze Stars. He served in Papuan, East Indies and New Guinea campaigns. He retired as an electrician and mechanic. He was a foreman and department head for Nunn Manufacturing Co., and was a musician for more than 30 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He married Alice Fajardo in 1945 at Clovis, N.M. He was preceded in death by a son, Jose Fajardo, in 1998. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Esther Contreras, Frances Gutierrez, Julia Guerra and Patsy Olvera, all of Amarillo; a son, Alfredo Romero of Honolulu; a sister, Cruz Chavez of Amarillo; a brother, Gilbert Romero of Amarillo; 19 grandchildren and 28 greatgrandchildren. New Mexico Adela M. Apodaca CLOVIS, N.M. - Adela M. Apodaca, 84, died Monday, July 26, 1999. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Rev. Sotero Sena officiating. Burial will be in Mission Garden of Memories by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis. Mrs. Apodaca was born in Encino, N.M. She had lived in Clovis for about 50 years, moving from Encino. She retired from the Civil Service at Cannon Air Force Base. Survivors include two sons, Avalino "Sonny" Apodaca of Clovis and Richard Apodaca of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a daughter, Janice Gaulik of Clovis; five sisters, Frutosa Madrid and Antonia Sena, both of Fort Sumner, N.M., Rosie Sena, Alice Lopez and Eloida Sandoval, all of Clovis; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Fay Spears TEXICO, N.M.- Fay Spears, 59, died Monday, July 26, 1999. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Bob Brown officiating. Burial will be in Texico Cemetery by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis. Mrs. Spears was born in Willard, N.M. She lived in Oklahoma before returning to Texico. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by a son, Roy Lee Mosier. Survivors include her husband, Joe Spears; a son, Wes Mosier of Portales; a daughter, Louise Gilchrist of Vernon, Texas; her twin brother, Everett Ray Autrey of Texico; a sister, Onita Dixon of Texico; and nine grandchildren. Margrete Blanche Tumlinson CLAYTON, N.M. - Margrete Blanche Tumlinson, 95, of Ruidoso Downs, died Sunday, July 25, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in First Baptist Church of Clayton with the Rev. Billy Rammage, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton. Mrs. Tumlminson was born in Henrietta, Texas, and moved to Union County in 1906. In 1924, she graduated valedictorian of Clayton High School. She lived in Clayton until 1941 and moved to Ruidoso Downs in 1952. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She married Andrew Jackson "Andy" Tumlinson in 1924 at Clayton. He died in 1979. Survivors include two daughters, Billye Sewell of Texline, Texas, and Dorothy Koyk of Ruidoso Downs; a son, Jack M. Tumlinson of Alexandria, Va.; two sisters, Dorothy Perry of Texline and Doris Williams of Dalhart, Texas; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Clayton Gospel Church with the Rev. Ron Ethridge, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton. Mrs. Garcia was born in Yates and was a lifelong resident of Union County. She was a member of the Clayton Gospel Church. She married Felix Augustine Garcia in 1938 at Clayton. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1978 and by a daughter, Lenia Brothers. Survivors include a daughter, Cecilia Sanchez of Clayton; five sons, Leroy Garcia of Clayton, Al Garcia of Guymon, Okla., Felix Garcia of Dumas, Texas, Nash Garcia of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Valentine Garcia of Grand Junction, Colo.; 28 grandchildren; and 11 greatgrandchildren. Elsewhere Jack B. Nichols LUBBOCK - Jack B. Nichols, 76, died Monday, July 26, 1999. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Memory Gardens in Amarillo. Arrangements are by Sanders Funeral Home of Lubbock. Mr. Nichols was born in Sayer, Okla. During World War II, he served in the Army Air Corps. He moved to Lubbock from Amarillo in 1992. He married Alma Lee Smitherman in 1976 at Amarillo. He was preceded in death by a son, Jack B. Nichols Jr. Survivors include a daughter, Jean Stafford of Amarillo; a stepson, David Hanes of Illinois; four sisters, Dorothy Brown of Pampa, Lola Allen of Greeley, Colo., Bonnie Keller of Washington and Pauline Hinkle of Liberal, Kan.; two brothers, Perry Nichols of Fort Worth and Wayne Nichols of Amarillo; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
