Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road. Mr. Nolan was born in Silsbee. He retired after 19 years as a Civil Service employee with the Air Force. He was a member of St. Hyacinth's Catholic Church, Amarillo Senior Citizens Association, National Federation of Retired Federal Employees Chapter 1248, AARP and was a charter member of the Golden K Kiwanis Club of Amarillo. He married his second wife, Minnie, in 1979. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bille Day, in 1977. Survivors include his wife; two sons, William of Bowie and Otis Nolan Jr., of Amarillo; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. The family will be at 3804 N.E. 22nd. Alexander Alanzo Medina Alexander Alanzo Medina, infant son of April Medina and Jessie Alanzo of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in N.S. Joene Walker Joene Walker, 70, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999. Services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday in Rest Lawn, Wilsons Funeral Directors Chapel in Wolfforth. Burial will be at City of Lubbock Cemetery. Mrs. Walker was born in Lubbock. She was a freight clerk for East Texas Motor Freight and was a member of Teamster Union Local No. 577. Hughes St. Mr. Wooten was born in Mineola where he attended Mineola public schools and was a member of Johnson Chapel United Methodist Church. J. Marvin Hunter Jr. J. Marvin Hunter Jr., 90, of Amarillo, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 1999. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday in Bandera Cemetery in Bandera with Dr. Lawrence Ray Smith, minister of Church of Christ of Bandera, officiating. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon. Mr. Hunter was born in Carlsbad and graduated from Bandera High School in 1928. From 1936 until 1944, he was associate editor for the Humble Oil and Refinery Bee Magazine. He later was the publisher of the Baird Star and won the Distinguished Community Service award in 1952. Mr. Hunter associated with his father as publisher of Frontier Times Magazine. He printed his autobiography and his last book, "Story of Lottie Deno" and others. He served as president of the Texas Editorial Association in 1952. He also was president of the West Texas Press Association and Grand Prairie Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of Kiwanis International where he served as president in Grand Prairie and as lieutenant governor of Division Five of the Texas-Oklahoma district in 1968 at Kerrville. From 1968 until 1972, Mr. Hunter lived in Hereford where he taught printing at Hereford High School. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He lived in Canyon from 1991 until moving to Amarillo in 1994. He married Mayme Powers in 1942 at Corpus Christi. Survivors include his wife; a son, Jack Hunter of Dallas; three daughters, Elmyra Mitchell of Peoria, Ariz., Dolores Ferrell of Fort Worth and Carlie Burdett of Amarillo; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Sandefer was born in Springfield, Mo., and was raised in Guymon. She graduated from Guymon High School. She worked as a seamstress and a waitress and was a Baptist. She moved to Ardmore last year. She was formerly married to Carlile Kennedy. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Carlene Wilcox. Survivors include a daughter, Donna Almond of Ardmore; two sons, Jim Kennedy and Bob Kennedy, all of Riverdale, Ga.; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Jacob Quesenbury GUYMON, Okla. - Jacob Quesenbury, 38, died Monday, Jan. 25, 1999, at Nashville, Tenn. Services were at 10 a.m. Thursday in Bond Memorial Chapel at Mount Juliet, Tenn., with the Rev. He graduated from Guymon High School in 1978 and attended Oklahoma State University at Stillwater. He previously had held the position of senior television engineer, educational television services at Oklahoma State University. He was married to Tracey McCauley. Ada Mae Petty GUYMON, Okla. - Ada Mae Petty, 87, a former Del City resident, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Guardian West Funeral Home, N.W. 41st and MacArthur, Oklahoma City. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. in Memorial Park Cemetery at Muskogee by Henson Novak Funeral Directors. Mrs. Petty was born on her mother's Choctaw Indian allotted land in Coal County. She attended Wheelock Academy, a Choctaw girls' boarding school at Millerton. She married George R. Petty in 1931 at Muskogee. They lived in Oklahoma City from 1943 until 1967 and in Del City from 1967 until her husband's death in 1990. She continued to live in Del City until March when she moved to Guymon. She also was preceded in death by three sons, Terry Dean Petty, Larry Gene Petty and 1st Lt. Donald Scott Petty. Survivors include her sons, David K. Petty of Guymon, George R. Petty of Forsythe, Mo., and Dr. Mark Petty of Miami, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Kay Beaman Hays GUYMON, Okla. - Kay Beaman Hays, 64, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Henson-Novak Funeral Directors Chapel with the Rev. Delbert Carter officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery. Mrs. Hays was born in the Eva community. She attended country schools and Guymon High School, graduating in 1952. She was employed by Guymon schools for 28 years, retiring in 1994. She married Leslie Hays in 1952 at Guymon. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Linda Suzanne Lane of Mustang, Cynthia Dianne Ogden of Perryton, Texas, and Cheryl Anne Brooks of Guymon; a son, Leslie Deane Hays of Guymon; a sister, Mary Ann Johnson of Loveland, Ohio; a brother, Carroll Deane Beaman of Amarillo; and 12 grandchildren. Mrs. Holman was born in Hereford and moved to Clovis in 1947 from Amarillo. She worked at Mobile Oil and was a checker for Piggly Wiggly. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She married R. Merton Holman in 1933. He died in 1998. Survivors include a daughter, Pat Bruce of Amarillo, and two grandchildren. Elsewhere George D. Parrish LEWISVILLE - George D. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Llano Cemetery in Amarillo by Dalton and Son Funeral Home of Lewisville. Mr. Parrish was born in Clarksville. He was a retired government administrator. He served as deacon emeritus of the Macedonia Baptist Church. Survivors include his daughters, Marilyn Gentry of Houston and Dianne Simms of Lewisville; and four grandchildren. The family will receive visitors from 7 until 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Area Emilou Burchett BORGER - Emilou "Sue" Burchett, 74, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Brown Funeral Directors Chapel of the Fountains with the Rev. Norman Shuman officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery. Mrs. Burchett was born in Lamesa and had lived in Borger for 46 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Abundant Life Fellowship. She married Ernest Burchett in 1943 at Big Spring. Survivors include her husband; a son, Gary Burchett of Valleyview; a daughter, Peggy Waldrop of Borger; six granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren. Verna Lawrence Jarvis SPEARMAN - Verna Lawrence Jarvis, 91, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Rick Patrick and the Rev. Russ Gibbs, former pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Lieb Cemetery in rural Hutchinson County. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman. Mrs. Jarvis was born in Armstrong, Mo., and moved to the area 89 years ago. She lived in Ochiltree County from 1910 until moving to Hansford County in 1928. A member of the first class to attend all four years at the new school, she graduated from Perryton High School in 1924. In 1926, Mrs. Jarvis graduated from Wayland College and then graduated from Simmons University in 1928. She did postgraduate work at University of Colorado. From 1928 until 1936, she taught English and Spanish at Spearman High School. With her husband, Mrs. Jarvis farmed in Hutchinson County until the mid1980s. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Spearman where she was a member of Tel Sunday School Class, Women's Missionary Union and taught fourth- and fifth-grade Sunday School for 30 years. She was a former Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader, member of Daughters of the Nile, life member of the Texas Parents-Teachers Association, member of the Gladiola Flower Club, 20th Century Club and Spearman Music Club. She married Woodville Jarvis in 1936 at Borger. He died in 1996. Survivors include a daughter, Carol Anne Pack of Stinnett; a son, Wesley W. Jarvis of Stinnett; a sister, Ruth Holt of Lubbock; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to First Baptist Church of Spearman or Hansford Hospice. Gilbert Wedge TURKEY - Gilbert Wedge, 85, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Julius Early, pastor, and the Rev. Mr. Wedge was born in Anadarko, Okla., and graduated from Turkey High School. During World War II, he served in the Army Air Corps. He was a farmer and member of the First United Methodist Church of Turkey. He married Wilma in 1945 at Sacramento, Calif. She died in 1992. Survivors include three sons, John Wedge of Florence, Pat Wedge of Lewisville and Thomas Wedge of Dallas; two daughters, Kathy Jacobs of Plano and Mary Widener of Memphis; a sister, Frances Tomchek of Garden City, Kan.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in First Baptist Church of Wheeler with the Rev. Gary May of Longview officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home of Wheeler. Mr. Coates was born in Des Moines, N.M. He served in the Army during the Korean War from 1953 until 1955. In 1958, he moved from Shamrock to Wheeler. He had owned and operated L&F Repair since 1966 and was a member and deacon of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church. He married Leona Fay Northcutt in 1955 at Shamrock. He was preceded in death by a son, Frank E. Coates Jr., in 1976. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Lee Ann Brown of Krum and Cindy Diann Muhkerjee of Raleigh, N.C.; a brother, Walter Coates of Flint; six sisters, Garland Harris, Ethel Ferris and Sue Woodruff, all of Shamrock, Addie Adkins of Pampa, Elsie Glazner of Wheeler and Eula Khulman of Tuttle, Okla.; five grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. A farmer and rancher, he moved to Wheeler from the Gageby Community in 1961. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Men. He married Vea Rose in 1935 at Arnett, Okla. Survivors include six daughters, Anna Dell Myers of Redington Shores, Fla., Evalyn Free of Tyler, Ruth Irvine of Brisco, Violet Farris of Houston, Estelle McAdams of Plains and Mozelle Thomas of Amarillo; six brothers, E.G. Marjorie Neely Smith HEREFORD - Marjorie Neely Smith, 90, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999. Mrs. Neely was born in Amarillo and moved to Deaf Smith County in 1943. She was a homemaker and member of First Presbyterian Church. She married Al Smith in 1938 at Clovis, N.M. He died in 1994. Survivors include four daughters, Linda Janes of Amarillo, Carlie Warren of Dimmitt, Terry Kosub of Stephenville and Patsy Meridith of Johnson City, Tenn.; a son, Neely Kimbrough of Broken Arrow, Okla.; three brothers, R.C. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church of Vega with the Rev. James Peach, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Vega by Vega Funeral Home. Mr. Cupell was born in Briscoe County and had lived in Vega for more than 30 years. During World War II, he was a seabee with the Navy. Mr. Cupell was a farmer who did custom harvest. He also was a mechanic who owned Southside Garage and a body shop. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Vega. He married Luella in 1952 at Vega. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1995 and by a daughter, Linda James, in 1972. Survivors include three daughters, Arlene Neubauer of Burleson, Brenda Watkins of Amarillo and Sue Brandt of Vega; four sons, James Barnett of Paris, Don Barnett of Dublin, Roger Barnett of Vega and Charles Cupell of Amarillo; a brother, JoEd Cupell of Amarillo; a sister, Clara Belle Stodghill of Amarillo; 24 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. Mr. Hill was born in Lakeview and was an Army veteran. He lived in Waco before moving to Clarendon three months ago. Prior to his retirement, Mr. Hill was employed as operations manager for Dresser Industries in Casper, Wyo. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 15 in Casper, the Korein Temple in Rawlings, Wyo., was a Scottish Rite Mason in Denver and a Baptist. Survivors include a daughter, Tammy Nyander of Waco; two sons, Steve Hill and Phillip Hill, both of Pleasanton; his mother, Lottie Hill of Clarendon; his former wife, Sue Payne of Waco; three brothers, Jerry Hill of Wichita Falls, Bill Hill of Abilene and Bob Hill of Denver; and several grandchildren. Bower Wood PLAINVIEW - Bower Wood, 71, of Cotton Center, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 1999. Services will be at 4 p.m. today in Lemons Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Mr. Wood was born and raised in West Jefferson, N.C., where he attended schools. He worked for Triumph Explosives. From 1944 until 1946, he served in the Army Air Corps. After his discharge, Mr. Wood worked in a saw mill. He moved to Cotton Center in 1961. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Jan Ellsworth and Jo Lynn Griffin, both of Spearman; two sons, James Burch of Spearman and Kelly Burch of Happy; a brother, Wendell Burch of Angola, Ind.; and nine grandchildren.
