Services will be at 9 a.m. today in Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel with the Rev. John Curry officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. today in Memorial Park Cemetery at Enid, Okla. Mr. Rosebery was born in Medford, Okla., and had been a Borger resident for 40 years. He attended school in Medford and Oklahoma A&M University Junior College, Panhandle A&M and Northwestern State College, all in Oklahoma. He was a retired retail merchant. He also worked as a reporter, sportswriter, editor and printer and served as an ad manager of the Borger News Herald in the early 1940s. In the late 1950s, he taught photography at Frank Phillips Junior College. He was a manager of Russell Stationery of Borger until the early 1990s. He received his 50-year-pin as a 32nd Degree Mason. He also was a member of the Elks, Lions, Jaycees, I.O.O.F. and other clubs and organizations. He married Dorothy L. Riggs in 1941 at Kansas City, Mo. He was preceded in death by a son, Rex Rosebery in 1991. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Mike Rosebery of Austin, and Jim Rosebery of Boise City, Okla.; a sister, Ruth Adams of Marietta, Ga.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Salvation Army, Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice and Life Enrichment Center or a favorite charity. Fern Cullins PAMPA - Fern Cullins, died Tuesday, July 27, 1999, in Amarillo. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Kingdom Hall, 1701 Coffee, Pampa, with Andy Wilson officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. in Amarillo. Mrs. Cullins was born in Soldier, Kan. She had been a Pioneer Minister for the Jehovah's Witnesses over 40 years. Survivors include her husband, Douglas Otto; a son, Lewis Vernon Duncan of Victorville, Calif.; a daughter, Sandra Fay Lash of Denver; her mother, Lottie Baker of Anaheim, Calif.; and two sisters, Viola May Bowden and Virginia Passhael, both of Anaheim. Ruby Callis PAMPA - Ruby Callis, 81, died Tuesday, July 27, 1999. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Memory Gardens Cemetery with Lt. Matthew Branscum, chaplain of the Salvation Army of Pampa, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Callis was born in Barnsdall, Okla., and moved to Pampa in 1928. She moved to Pawhuska, Okla., in 1935, returning to Pampa in 1952. She was a housekeeper, waitress and a nurse's aide. She was a member of the Salvation Army. She married Floyd Callis in 1950 at Sulphur, Okla. He died in 1982. Survivors include a daughter, Agnes A. Atchley of Pampa; two grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a greatgreat-granddaughter. Lula McKay Morris PAMPA - Lula McKay Morris, 95, a former longtime Pampa resident, died Tuesday, July 27, 1999, at Garland. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel in Pampa, with the Rev. James Morris, an Assembly of God minister, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery at Pampa. Mrs. Morris was born in Byers, and had been a resident of Pampa since 1915, moving to Garland a year ago. She was a homemaker and a charter member of First Assembly of God Church since 1917. She married Ottie L. "Jack" Morris in 1922 at Pampa. He died in 1978. Survivors include a son, W.L. Morris of Woodward, Okla.; a daughter, Wanda Lou Morris of Garland; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Lee Newman HEREFORD - Lee Newman, 87, died Wednesday, July 28, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Gililland-Watson Funeral Home's Rose Chapel with the Rev. Ray Sanders officiating. Burial will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Park. Mr. Newman was born in Granbury and moved to Deaf Smith County in 1934. He was maintenance foreman for the Texas Department of Transportation for 35 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hereford and the Panhandle Road Riders where he received awards for being the oldest motorcycle rider. He married Elva Lorene Smith in 1936. Mr. Newman is survived by his wife; two sons, Alan Newman of Hereford and Pat Newman of Lake Tanglewood; one daughter, Sharon Newman of Amarillo; one sister, Pauline Kropff of Hereford; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Hereford Senior Citizens. Gene Weatherly FRIONA - Gene Weatherly, 52, died Tuesday, July 27, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First United Methodist Church of Friona with the Rev. Archie Echols of Abilene and the Rev. Don Boren, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Friona Cemetery by Ellis-Blackwell Funeral Home of Friona. Mr. Weatherly was born in Greenville and moved to Friona in 1952 from Hunt County. He had been employed at Winklers Trucking as a truck driver and was a farmer. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Weatherly and Katy Weatherly, both of Friona; his mother, Lois Weatherly of Friona; three brothers, Phillip Weatherly of Crested Butte, Colo., Bill Weatherly of Umbarger and James Weatherly of Canyon; and a sister, Celia Dee Loflin of Friona. Mr. Payne was born in Dalhart and raised in Channing where he attended school. He was a cowboy who worked on Channing area ranches. Survivors include her husband; a son, James K. Joseph "Joe" Ross Joseph "Joe" Ross, 81, of Arlington and a former Amarillo resident, died Tuesday, July 27, 1999. Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in N.S. Griggs and Sons Pioneer Chapel, 2615 Paramount Blvd., with John Ross officiating. Mr. Ross was born in New York City and grew up in the Bronx where he attended high school and art school. Mr. Ross served in the National Guard before enlisting in the Army Air Corps in 1939. He was a member of the 22nd Bomb Group at Mitchell Field on Long Island, N.Y. After flying 41 missions as a tail gunner, he advanced to technical sergeant. He received several medals, then later enlisted in the Air Force Reserve from 1948 to 1952. He married Naomi Lee Palmeter in 1945. They lived in Amarillo, New York City and Stinnett. He is survived by his wife; one son, John Ross of Arlington; two daughters, Sue McMurphy of Woodward, Okla., and Christine O'Conner of Jenks, Okla.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Earl Pettis Earl Pettis, 31, of Amarillo, died Saturday, July 24, 1999. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Llano Cemetery with Joe Taylor of Emmanuel Church of Amarillo officiating. Pettis of Plainview. New Mexico Rev. Warren C. Vining Jr. CLOVIS, N.M. - Rev. Warren C. "Pete" Vining Jr., 80, died Wednesday, July 21, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Advent Christian Church with the Rev. Brad Rigney and the Rev. Greg Martin officiating. Burial will be in Mission Garden of Memories by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. The Rev. Vining was born in Chicago and was a former Santa Ana, Calif., resident. He graduated from Wheaton College, Ill., with a bachelor's degree in physics. He served as a chaplain in the European Theater during World War II. After the war, the Rev. Vining and his wife, Elizabeth, served as missionaries to the Naga tribes in Assam, India. After returning to the U.S., he earned his master's degree from Los Angeles State University. He taught English and physics at Harbor Community College at San Pedro, Calif., and Orange Coast Community College in Costa Mesa, Calif. He later served as chairman of the physics department, then deputy dean of instruction at Mount San Antonio Community College in Walnut, Calif., where he stayed for more than 20 years, receiving numerous awards and commendations. He retired in 1983. The Rev. Vining served as an intern pastor for many Advent Christian Churches. He retired to Clovis. He was preceded in death by his wife. Survivors include three sons, Warren C. Vining III of Santa Ana, Mark S. Vining of Clovis, and Robert M. Vining of Bakersfield; a daughter, Dana Ruth Mellis of Vancouver, B.C.; and four grandchildren. Memorials should be to the Elizabeth R. Vining Youth Memorial Fund, Advent Christian Church, at Clovis. Connie C. McCarley CLAYTON, N.M. - Connie C. McCarley, 96, died Tuesday, July 27, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church in Clayton with the Rev. Jeff Bradley, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Felt, Okla., officiating. Burial will be in Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton. Mrs. McCarley was born in Carlsbad and lived in the Thomas Community until 1973 when she moved to Clayton. In 1981, she moved to Canyon, Texas. She was involved in the Senior Citizens Center and a member of the First Baptist Church where she served as a pianist for 15 years. She married Ray McCarley in 1936 at Brownsville, Texas. He died in 1971. Survivors include a son, James McCarley of Midland, Texas; and four granddaughters. Oklahoma Leona Irene Neufeld BALKO, Okla. - Leona Irene Neufeld, 89, died Monday, July 26, 1999. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Balko Mennonite Brethren Church with Dewayn Isaacs and Gaylord Goertzen officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Mennonite Cemetery by Clark Funeral Service of Beaver. Mrs. Neufeld was born in Beaver County where she graduated from high school. She was a longtime member of Mennonite Brethren Church and also was a member of the Balko Sunflower Club and Oklahoma Ladies Farm Bureau. She married Milton Pete Neufeld in 1929 at Balko. He died in 1989. Survivors include her children, Donald Neufeld and Norma Janzen, both of Shafter, Calif., Leo Neufeld of Balko, Norena Cramer of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Joe Reddick of Beaver; a sister, Anna Bergen of Jefferson City, Mo.; 15 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Doris Delana Hobbs ELDORADO, Okla. - Doris Delana Hobbs, 67, died Tuesday, July 27, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in the Church of God at Altus with the Rev. Len Gipson and the Rev. Randy Wishman officiating. Burial will be in Eldorado Cemetery by Kincannon-Lee Funeral Home. Mrs. Hobbs was born in Quanah. She had been a beauty operator for several years. After her marriage, she worked in a nursing home and later drove a truck with her husband. They lived in Amarillo for many years before moving to Eldorado in 1996. She was a member of the Church of God at Altus. She married Troy Lee Hobbs Sr. in 1962 in Amarillo. Survivors include her husband; seven children, Troy Hobbs Jr. of Cleburne, Texas, Dayna Spradlin of Eldorado, Linda Page of Bailey, Texas, Jeannie Butler of Amarillo, Sandra Marley of Red Oak, Gary Hobbs of Amarillo and Keith Hobbs of Wilburton; two brothers, Raymond Darrell Barnes of San Antonio, and Don Barnes of Quanah; 16 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
