Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by BlackburnShaw Funeral Directors, Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road. Mr. Nolan was born in Silsbee. He retired after 19 years as a Civil Service employee with the Air Force. He was a member of St. Hyacinth's Catholic Church, Amarillo Senior Citizens Association, National Federation of Retired Federal Employees Chapter 1248, AARP and was a charter member of the Golden K Kiwanis Club of Amarillo. He married his second wife, Minnie, in 1979. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ida Belle Day, in 1977. Survivors include his wife; two sons, William of Bowie and Otis Nolan Jr., of Amarillo; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. The family will be at 3804 N.E. 22nd. They suggest memorials be to Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice and Life Enrichment Center. Margaret Donnelly Heard Margaret Donnelly Heard, 86, a former Amarillo resident, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999, in Minnesota. Memorial services will be at a later date at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Amarillo. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery at Hereford by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Arrangements were by Crystal Lake Funeral Home of Minneapolis, Minn. Mrs. Heard was born in Terre Haute, Ind. In 1934, she was the first woman to graduate from University of Wisconsin with a degree in chemical engineering. During World War II, she was a water analyst in the Manhattan Project Chicago Metallurgy Laboratory. Mrs. Heard and her husband owned an alfalfa dehydrating plant and a dairy farm in Hereford from 1945 until 1957. She had taught math in Hereford, Amarillo and Baghdad, Iraq. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and a supporter of Amarillo Symphony, arts and opera. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, George G. Heard. Survivors include a son, George E. Heard of Laramie, Wyo.; three daughters, Martha Heard of Albuquerque, N.M., Jane Wichmann of Maple Grove, Minn., and Leslie Wood of Clinton, Miss.; a brother, Raymond Donnelly of New Albany, Ind.; and 11 grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. Bruce Michael Sherrill Bruce Michael Sherrill, 40, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mrs. Brady was born in Louisville, Ark. She had worked at the phone company when she moved to Clovis at the age of 18. She worked for Civil Service as a secretary for the auditor general at Cannon Air Force Base before retiring. She was a charter member of First Christian Church. She married Loyd C. Brady in 1949 at Clovis. He died in 1978. Hoyt Ellis officiating. Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery by Stewart Funeral Service of Hollis. Mrs. Hudson was born in Harmon County and attended Number Four School. She married Robert Wilson in 1926 at Dodson, Texas. They farmed in Harmon County until 1939 when they moved to Hollis. She helped with their business, Wilson Produce, until moving to Amarillo in 1957. They divorced in 1968. In 1969, she married Jody Hudson at Amarillo. They lived on the Hudson farm until moving to town in 1991. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her second husband in 1993 and by a daughter, Grace Mildred, in 1930. Survivors include a daughter, Glenda Chevrier of Amarillo; a sister, Vivian Bilderback of Denver; six stepchildren, LeeRoy Hudson of Hollis, Ralph Hudson of Oklahoma City, Carl J. Valentine G. Benavidez ERICK, Okla. - Valentine G. Benavidez, 80, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Erick Assembly of God Church with Charlie Floyd officiating. Burial will be in Erick Cemetery by Fatheree-Albert Funeral Home. Mr. Benavidez was born in Hebbronville, Texas. After his marriage, he lived in Robstown, Texas. In 1962, he moved to the Texas Panhandle and lived in Kelton and Wheeler until moving to Erick in 1969. He attended the Assembly of God. He married Maria C. Castro in 1938 at San Diego, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife and a daughter. Survivors include a daughter, Susie Erwin of Wheeler; four sons, Valentine Benavidez Jr., of Hollis, Juan Benavidez of Shamrock, Ruben Benavidez of Dallas and Raul Benavidez of Erick; two brothers, Jesus Benavidez and Pablo Benavidez, both of Corpus Christi, Texas; two sisters, Fina Reyes and Julia Reyes, both of Corpus Christi; 30 grandchildren; and 44 great-grandchildren. Elsewhere Syble Camp Thompson GIG HARBOR, Wash. - Syble Camp Thompson, 89, a former resident of Wellington, Texas, died Friday, Jan. 22, 1999. Services were at 2 p.m. Friday in the First United Methodist Church at Wellington with the Rev. Toby Henson, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Wheeler, Texas, officiating. Burial was in Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Wellington by Adams Funeral Home of Wellington. Mrs. Thompson was born in Wellington and moved to Gig Harbor in 1988. She graduated from Wellington High School and Central State Teachers College at Edmond, Okla. Her first teaching position was at Dodson Elementary School. She also taught in Gillian, Loco, Samnorwood, Wellington and Arnett, Okla. She retired in 1975 after working for 35 years in the public education system. After retirement, she taught private piano lessons to many area students. She was active in the Order of Eastern Star and First United Methodist Church. She provided music for the Nazarene Church at Dodson and then the Kelley Community Church in the Kelley community, and also the First United Methodist Church. She also taught Sunday school class and participated in the choir. She married Sam H. Thompson in 1933 at Dodson. He died in 1998. Survivors include two daughters, Sammi Lu Davis and Emmy Jane Fraser, both of Gig Harbor; a brother, Walter Camp of Dodson; and two grandchildren. Jim Mangum LUBBOCK - Jim Mangum, 54, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999, at Albuquerque, N.M. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Englunds Funeral Service Chapel at Slaton with the Rev. Weldon Thomas, retired minister of Trinity Evangelical Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Englewood Cemetery. Mr. Mangum was born in Slaton and had lived in Lubbock since 1997. He graduated from Slaton High School in 1963 and from Park College at Austin in 1991 with a bachelor's degree in business management. He was an Air Force veteran of Vietnam. He was a life member and past treasurer of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 44. He married Carolyn Burnam in 1997 at Lubbock. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Don Allen Mangum of Los Angeles, Cody Marshall of Dallas and Casey Marshall of Ada, Okla.; two daughters, Rita Kay Hunt of Marysville, Wash., and Carri Sewell of Lubbock; his mother, Lorene Mangum of Slaton; two brothers, Ronnie Mangum of Slaton and John T. Mangum of Pampa; and four grandchildren. Mirth Pilkinton KEMP - Mirth Pilkinton, 96, a former Amarillo resident, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 1999. Services were held Thursday in the chapel at Kemp Cemetery in Kemp. Arrangements were by Anderson-Clayton Brothers Funeral Home of Kemp. Mrs. Pilkinton was born in Mississippi and moved to Texas in 1906. She moved to Amarillo in 1943. She was a teacher in the Texas Public School System for 49 years. She was a member of the Texas State Teachers Association, Amarillo Classroom Teachers Association, Amarillo Retired Teachers Association, the Delta Kappa Gamma Society, the First Baptist Church and the Amarillo Sunday School Class. Survivors include a nephew, Bob Pilkinton of Corpus Christi. Kevin Leon Crum BROWNSVILLE - Kevin Leon Crum, 33, died Sunday, Jan. 24, 1999, at Rancho Viejo. Mr. Crum was born in Waco. He graduated from Wheeler High School in Marietta, Ga., then attended Kennesaw College. He was employed in sales in Atlanta and was active in sports. He married Vea Rose in 1935 at Arnett, Okla. Presley Jr. in 1939 at Mangum, Okla. They moved to the G.H. Sanders Ranch after their marriage and in 1948 they moved to Lefors from the ranch. She was a homemaker and the bookkeeper and secretary for O.L. Presley Dirt Contractor. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lefors. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Carolyn Hanover of Skellytown; a sister, Corean Roberts of Lefors; two granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren. He grew up near Tonkawa, Okla., and moved to Pampa in 1934. He was an operator for Cargile Pulling Unit. After his retirement, he moved to Arkansas and bought a ranch. Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Robbins of Pampa; three brothers, Judd Milligan of Henryetta, Okla., Max Milligan of Tonkawa and Neil Milligan of Wichita, Kan.; two grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Viewing will be this morning. Mary Eileen Yinger PAMPA - Mary Eileen Yinger, 76, died Thursday, Jan. 28, 1999. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Mrs. Yinger was born in Hamilton, Ohio. In 1944, she graduated from Mount St. Joseph College in Cincinnati with a bachelor's degree in nursing. She was a nursing instructor at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, until 1950. Mrs. Yinger became nursing in-service coordinator at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Dayton in 1966. From 1977 until her retirement in 1989, she taught at the Dayton School of Practical Nursing. She was a volunteer instructor for the American Red Cross for most of her adult life. In 1997, Mrs. Yinger received the American Heroism Medal. She was a life member and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 2800. She was a member of the Church of the Incarnation Parish in Centerville, Ohio, from 1966 until 1998 when she moved to Pampa. She then attended the Hi-Land Christian Church and St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. She married John Richard Yinger in 1950 at Cincinnati. Survivors include her husband; four children, Jeanne Ann Gould of Dallas, Richard Joseph Yinger of Dayton, Mary Julia Long of Pampa and John Carl Yinger of Del City, Okla.; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She graduated from Canadian High School. She was employed by Noble Trueblood Motor Co., and was a clerk at the Hemphill County tax office for many years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She married R.L. "Jack" Williams in 1934 at Pampa. He died in 1991. Survivors include a nephew, R.E. "Bobby" Norvill of Chinle, Ariz.; and three nieces, Barbara Hale and Patricia Salvato, both of Amarillo, and Carolyn Hunter of Sunset. He married Joann Howard in 1949 at Clovis, N.M. He was preceded in death by his wife and a son, Bobby Stockinger. Survivors include two sons, T. Mr. Blakely was born in Snyder and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He owned and operated Blakely Oil and Gas for more than 31 years. He was a member and past president of Hereford Kiwanis Club and a member of the Hereford Booster Club and Big Brothers and Big Sisters organization. He married Opal McCormick in 1950 at Snyder. Survivors include his wife; a son, Ricky Blakely of Big Harbor, Wash.; a daughter, Lisa Artho of Hereford; a brother, Delbert Blakely of California; special friends, Bill and Tricia Henderson; and five grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to St. Anthony's School Endowment Fund. Ton E. Price PAMPA - Ton E. Price, 77, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in The Carpenter's Church with the Rev. Don Rice, pastor of First Baptist Church of Fritch, officiating. Burial will be in Kelton Cemtery by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Price was born in Kelton. In 1941, he was employed by Phillips Petroleum then joined the Army in 1942. He served with the Fifth Armored Division in the European Theater of World War II. In 1945, Mr. Price was discharged from the Army and returned to Phillips Petroleum. He retired in 1983. He was a former member of Harrah United Methodist Church, now The Carpenter's Church, and was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. His second marriage was to Wanda Ensey in 1995 at Amarillo. His first marriage was to Julia Francine Reed in 1941 at Wheeler. She died in 1994. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, LaNell Firth of Pampa and LaDell Price Dwelley of Hopkins, S.C.; three sons, Harry Ton Price of Napa, Calif., Bobby Don Price of Houston and Barry Lon Price of Kelton; a stepdaughter, Mary Sly of Fritch; two stepsons, Gary Ensey of Pampa and Terry Ensey of Borger; two sisters, Ann Cottrelll of Brownwood and Doretha Weedman of Phoenix; two brothers, Billy Mac Price of Osso Beach, Calif., and Bill Lackey of Houston; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice and Life Enrichment Center, Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79176; or a favorite charity. Viewing will be available this morning.
