Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Monday in Westlawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Howard Rhodes, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements were by Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home. Mrs. Rhynes was born and raised in Jones County, where she attended school. She moved to Hale Center in 1956 and was a doctor's nurse at Hi-Plains Hospital from 1957-1980. She moved to Dimmitt in 1989. She had been a member of First Baptist Church of Hale Center. She married Newel Rhynes in 1941 at Merkel. He died in 1992. Survivors include a son, Lonny Rhynes of Sherman; a daughter, Ann Richardson of Arizona; two brothers, Bert Harris of Merkel and Bo Harris of Abilene; a sister, Jean Skeet of Tye; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, Nov. 30, 1999 Tressie Warren MATADOR - Tressie Warren, 80, died Sunday, Nov. 28, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Roaring Springs Baptist Church in Roaring Springs with the Rev. Rickey Lawrence, pastor of Roaring Springs Full Gospel Church, and the Rev. Felton Gilmore, interim pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Roaring Springs Cemetery by Seigler Funeral Home of Matador. Mrs. Warren was born in Roaring Springs, where she was a longtime resident. She previously lived in Lubbock for 20 years before moving to Matador in 1990. Mrs. Warren had worked in restaurants, a denim mill and the Green Thumb Program in Matador. She was a member of the Baptist Church. She married Ray Warren in 1937. He died in 1984. Survivors include a son, Don Warren of Matador; two daughters, Kathy Brooks of Whitehouse and Jerri Poff of Dallas; a sister, Virgie Clower Bannister of Plainview; four grandchildren; and three greatgrandchildren. She was the owner of Cordell Glass Shop and was a Baptist. She married Cordell Bentley in 1949 at California. He died in 1974. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Ann Hood of Lubbock; two brothers, Floyd Norrid of Lubbock and Cecil Norrid of Crawford, Colo.; and a granddaughter. Vigil will be at 7 p.m. today in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Mass will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Fern Couture, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Castro Memorial Gardens in Dimmitt by Foskey-LilleyMcGill Funeral Home. Mr. Pina was born and raised in Donna. In 1961, he moved to Dimmitt where he was a carpenter and cabinet maker. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. In 1990, he moved to Taft. He married Guadalupe Ibarra in 1948 at Edinburg. She died in 1988. Survivors include two daughters, Irene Granado of Dimmitt and Natividad Haliburton of Waco; three sons, Tomas Pina Jr. of Houston, Jose Pina of Grand Prairie and Antonio Pina of Waco; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Arrangements are by Ellis-Blackwell Funeral Home of Friona. Mr. Florez was born and raised in San Angelo. He was a World War II veteran of the Army. In 1972, he moved to Bovina, where he was employed in agricultural business for Bermea Brothers in Friona. He was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church. He married Eva Florez in 1971 at San Angelo. Survivors include his wife; two brothers, Pablo Florez and Ramon Florez, both of San Angelo; and two sisters, Frances Rodriquez of Phoenix and Carmen Valencia of San Angelo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Garland Street Church of Christ in Plainview with Carl King, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Moore-Rose-White Funeral Home of Lockney. Mr. Churchwell was born in Comanche and moved to Hale County when he was 6 months old. A Plainview resident most of his life, he graduated from Plainview High School in 1943. He was an Army veteran who served in the First Calvary during World War II. Mr. Churchwell retired after 20 years with the Hale County Weed District. He also was a farmer. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge and a former 4H leader of many years. He was a member of the Garland Street Church of Christ. He married Joyce Hooten in 1949 at Lockney. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Jackie Churchwell and Paul Churchwell, both of Plainview, and Mark Churchwell of San Angelo; two daughters, Kaylene Hazel of Amarillo and Karen Snipes of Plainview; a brother, Marvin Churchwell of Plainview; three sisters, Vera Castleberry of Plainview, Cora Lee Vaughn of Hale Center and Mavis McClain of Bentonville, Ark.; and 10 grandchildren. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park. Mrs. Patterson was born in Plainview. For many years, she was a route carrier for the Plainview Daily Herald. She married W.E. "Bill" Patterson in 1944 at Plainview. He died in 1992. Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Rollins of Plainview; a son, James E. Patterson of Plainview; two brothers, B.D. "Berny" Randel, 88, died Friday, Nov. 26, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. CST Thursday in Texline United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeff Bayley, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Texline Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton, N.M. Mr. Randel was born in Flores, Okla., and lived for man years in Dalhart, where he graduated from high school. He farmed and was a foreman of the Dalhart Ice Plant. In 1962, Mr. Randel moved to Texline, where he owned and operated the State Line Shamrock service station for 21 years. He was a member of the Texline United Methodist Church. He married Lillian Rea Williams in 1942 at Clayton. He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Adelia Watson, and by a stepson, Leon Eaton. Survivors include his wife of Amarillo; two daughters, Katie Doty of Amarillo and Roxy Eudy of Texline; two stepdaughters, Bea Clark of Las Vegas and Pat Combs of Amarillo; a stepson, Alvin Eaton of Conroe; four grandchildren; 14 step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; 22 step-great-grandchildren; and eight step-great-great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today in Trinity Fellowship Church Chapel in Amarillo. Cremation was in Dallas. Ms. McFarland was born in Ardmore, Okla., and moved to Amarillo in 1964. She had worked for Pantex for 13 years, later working for the S.B. Whittenburg family for 20 years, retiring in 1997. She attended Trinity Fellowship Church. Survivors include four children, Mitchell Boyd, Carole Perry and D'Mitri McFarland, all of Amarillo and Gilda Kay Nuss of Palmyra, Ind.; and four grandchildren. Arrangements are by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mrs. Burnett was born in Carlton and moved to Amarillo in 1949 from Paris. She had been a bookkeeper and office manager for a local physician. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Amarillo. She married Daymond Burnett in 1925 in Texas. He died in 1966. Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Frost of Seabrook and Beverly Brown of Carrollton; a brother, Leo Finley of Walnut Springs; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Mr. Diaz was born in the St. Francis community and was a lifetime resident of Amarillo. He served in the National Guard and worked in construction as a bricklayer's helper. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Osage St. Mr. Johnson was born in Fort Worth and moved to Amarillo in 1958 from Hobbs, N.M. He graduated from Amarillo High School, where he was active in sports, and Amarillo College, then attended college at Cameron College in Lawton, Okla. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. Johnson was employed by R.L. Polk & Co. for several years before being employed by Marcoa. He also worked for Value Line, KIXZ and NTS. He was a board member and served as president for Moss Lane Club and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Holli Rein and Tracy Carol, both of Dallas; his mother, Billie D. Johnson of Amarillo; and two grandchildren. She moved to Amarillo two years ago where she was a teacher's assistant. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She married Mike Martin in 1971 at McLean. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Brandy Martin and Joey Eckert, both of Lubbock; her parents, Odis and Katharine Calcote of McLean; two brothers, Howard Calcote of Amarillo and Harold Calcote of Brighton, Colo.; and a granddaughter. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Arney was born in Springfield, Mo., and moved to Amarillo in 1945 from Dallas. During World War II, he was in Honolulu in the civil service as a pipe welder. For 36 years, he was an inspector for the Rock Island Railroad. He married Anna Crownover in 1945 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; a son, Virgil Arney Jr. of California; three daughters, Wanda Wigman of Mountain View, Ark., and Charlett Koonce and Janet Post, both of Amarillo; a brother, Clint Arney of Amarillo; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Hollene Cemetery at Hollene. Mr. Fitzgerald was born in Lubbock, Texas, and moved to Clovis in 1962 from Melrose. He farmed for many years in the McAlister area. He retired from the Clovis schools in 1973 as a custodian at Highland Elementary School. He was a member of Prince Street Baptist Church and was attending Oak Street Baptist Church. He married Ada Fay Rierson in 1933 at Grady. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Ray Fitzgerald of Aztec, Alton Fitzgerald of Lovington, Howard Fitzgerald of Big Sandy, Texas, and Larry Fitzgerald of Clovis; 14 grandchildren; and 26 greatgrandchildren. Cremation arrangements were handled by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd., Amarillo. Ms. Goad was born in Texhoma and attended Texhoma High School. She had been a precinct judge in Texhoma. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist Church at Rose. She married Luther Goad in 1974 at Miami, Okla. He preceded her in death. Survivors include two sisters, Corrine Ewen of Amarillo and Verna Long of Texhoma; and a brother, Charles Gaddy of Kansas. The family requests memorials be to the Baptist Church in Rose.
