Harry Pittam of Lovington, N.M., officiating. Burial will be in Shamrock Cemetery by Wright Funeral Directors. Mr. Roberts was born in Wimberly and had lived in Shamrock for 26 years. He had worked for El Paso Natural Gas more than 20 years. He was an Army veteran and a member of the Shamrock Country Club. He married Joan Pittam in 1958 at Jal, N.M. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Beth McFarland and Beverly Wendlin, both of Seelyville, Ind., and Alice Garner of Shamrock; and three grandchildren. Lewis Wesley Probis PADUCAH - Lewis Wesley Probis, 63, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 1999. Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Monday in Garden of Memories with the Rev. John Givens, pastor of Central Christian Church in Childress, officiating. Arrangements were by Siegler Funeral Home of Paducah. Mr. Probis was born in Joplin, Mo. He was a construction worker. Survivors include three brothers, Charles Probis of Tulsa and James Probis and Calvin Probis, both of Stillwater, Okla.; and a sister, Dorothy Anthamater of Terlton, Okla. Belva Grace Cadle QUANAH - Belva Grace Cadle, 87, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 1999. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jesse Dea, the Rev. Larry Reed-Farris, the Rev. David Robertson and the Rev. Mamiqa Shipman officiating. Burial will be in Quanah Memorial Park by Price-Jackson Funeral Home. Mrs. Cadle was born in Lazare and graduated with a bachelor of science degree from Texas Tech University. After 30 years, she retired as a teacher from the Quanah Independent School District. She was a member of Retired Teachers, the First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She married R.B. "Bob" Cadle in 1933 at Quanah. He died in 1985. Survivors include a daughter, Dawn Berry of Lubbock; a sister, Lucille Lockhart of Quanah; a granddaughter; and three great-granddaughters. The family suggests memorials be to First United Methodist Church hand bell fund. Don Newberry CHILDRESS - Don Newberry, 63, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 1999. Mr. Newberry was born in Community Center, where he had farmed. He retired from the Texas Highway Department, was a school bus driver and a goat trader. He married Gayle Howard in 1958 at Wellington. Survivors include his wife; a son, Tracy Newberry of Childress; a brother, J.C. Newberry of Community Center; and a grandson. Vinnie Coffin HEREFORD - Vinnie "Doris" Coffin, 85, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Avenue Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Austin officiating. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery by Parkside Chapel Funeral Home of Hereford. Mrs. Coffin was born in Milford and moved to Hereford in 1946. She was a homemaker and an employee of the Hereford Independent School District cafeterias for more than 15 years. For many years, Mrs. Coffin cared for children in her home. She was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and the Avenue Baptist Church. She married Harry Coffin Jr. in 1942 at Odessa. He died in 1973. Survivors include two daughters, Rema Collier and Jeannie Coffin, both of Hereford; a son, Bill Coffin of Mont Belvieu; three brothers, Mack Brice of Midland, Glen Brice of Monahans and Dave "Dink" Brice of Bethany, Okla.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in First United Methodist Church with Dr. Charles Murray of Lubbock and the Rev. Derrel Evins, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Seminole, officiating. Burial will be in Muleshoe Memorial Park Cemetery by Ellis Funeral Home of Muleshoe. Mr. Black was born in Perryton and moved to Muleshoe in 1933 from Wheeler. During World War II, he served in the Navy. He was a farmer and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Muleshoe. He married Gladys Waggoner in 1942 at Portales, N.M. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Stan Black of Frisco and Cliff Black and Steve Black, both of Muleshoe; a daughter, Marilyn Black of Canyon; two sisters, Margaret Epting and Jewel Perry of Muleshoe; and 12 grandchildren. Margaret Jeffie Feaster PANHANDLE - Margaret Jeffie Feaster, 80, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 1999. Services will be at 1 p.m. today in Panhandle Church of Christ with Leonard Harper officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Waxahachie by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors. Mrs. Feaster was born in Ellis County. An outstanding athlete, she was named to the Texas All-State basketball team in 1934 and 1935. In 1935, she was on the AAU team that played against the Dallas Cyclones. In 1944, after her marriage, she moved to Panhandle where she taught school from 1944 until 1981. She was a member of the Panhandle Church of Christ and taught Bible School for more than 55 years. She married Jesse Feaster, who preceded her in death in 1995. Survivors include two brothers, Hal Curry and Glenn Curry, both of Waxahachie; and two sisters, Jo Ann Vantrese and Evelyn Reynolds, both of Waxahachie. George Jimmy Allen WELLINGTON - George Jimmy Allen, 66, died Saturday, Aug. 28, 1999. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. R.L. Hunnicutt officiating. Arrangements are by Adams Funeral Home of Wellington. A longtime resident of Wellington, Mr. Allen was a truck driver and a veteran of the Army. He is survived by a close friend, Helen Clare Culpepper of Wellington. Clara Delberta Hall Wainwright CANADIAN - Clara Delberta Hall Wainwright, 68, of Lubbock and formerly of Canadian, died Monday, Aug. 30, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Stickley-Hill Funeral Directors Chapel in Canadian with the Rev. Roy Almaroad, pastor of Mescalero Baptist Church in Amarillo, officiating. Burial will be in Edith Ford Cemetery. Mrs. Wainwright was born in Flippin, Ark., where she attended schools. In 1948, she moved to Canadian. She was a homemaker, did alterations at Monarch Cleaners and was a fourth degree martial arts instructor. She was a member of Westmont Christian Church in Lubbock and Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority. She married Alvin Henry Wainwright in 1948 at Yellville, Ark. Survivors include her husband; a son, Roger Wainwright of Canadian; a daughter, Phyllis Shira of Farnsworth; a brother, Marvin Hall of Defiance, Ohio; a sister, Marie Smith of Amarillo; four grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Viewing will be from 4 until 8 p.m. today and from 8:30 a.m. until time of service Wednesday in the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be to Southwest Cancer Society or the American Cancer Society. Richard J. Lewis CLARENDON - Richard J. Lewis, 93, of Lelia Lake, died Monday, Aug. 30, 1999. Services will be at 5:30 p.m. today in Robertson Funeral Directors Chapel of Memories with Brian Gochenour, minister of Clarendon Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Richland Springs Cemetery in Richland Springs with Richard Woolam, grandson, of Midland, officiating. Mr. Lewis was born in Richland Springs and was a resident of Sterling City before moving to Lelia Lake in 1967. For much of his life, he was a ranchhand and was a longtime employee of the Mitchum Ranch in Cisco and the Risher Ranch in Andrews. Mr. Lewis retired in 1967. He was a member of Richland Springs Church of Christ. He married Elma Dell Atkins in 1929 at Portales, N.M. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1966 and by a daughter, Bertha Evelyn Lewis, in 1933. Survivors include two daughters, Hazel Shields of Lelia Lake and Johnnye Woolam of Andrews; a sister, Marie Basey of Austin; eight grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and five great-greatgrandchildren. Donald Rodney Webb HOWARDWICK - Donald Rodney Webb, 60, died Monday, Aug. 30, 1999. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon. Mr. Webb was born in Amarillo and lived in Groom before moving to Howardwick eight years ago. He had been a cowboy and was a member of the Clarendon Church of Christ. He married Josephine Peyton in 1985 at Groom. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Linda Garner of Euless and Wanda Arganbright of Amarillo; three sons, Lewis Alton Webb and Kerry Don Webb, both of Euless, and Daniel Kirk Webb of Amarillo; two brothers, Gayle Webb and Jerry Webb, both of Amarillo; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Jeanne Patton Kunz PLAINVIEW - Jeanne Patton Kunz, 81, died Monday, Aug. 30, 1999. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home of Plainview. Mrs. Kunz was born in St. Louis, Mo. In 1936, she graduated from the University City High School then graduated in 1940 from University of Missouri at Columbia. She taught school in Missouri, El Paso, the Lower Valley and Highland Elementary School in Plainview. Prior to moving to Plainview in 1959, Mrs. Kunz had lived in Missouri, El Paso, San Angelo and Abilene. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Wesley Bible Class, was past secretary of the Pink Ladies Hospital Auxiliary, was past president of Coronado Study Club and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. She married Jack Reed Kunz in 1944 at Missouri. He died in 1996. Survivors include two daughters, Barby Hodges of Houston and Mary Anne Sides of Abilene; and four grandsons. Amarillo Socorro Gonzales Cortez Socorro Gonzales Cortez, 85, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 1999. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church by the Rev. Hector Madrigal, pastor. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Cortez was born in Silao, Guanajuato, Mexico, and had lived in Amarillo since 1931. She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She married Valentin Cortez in 1931 in Amarillo. He died in 1973. She also was preceded in death by four sons, Valentin Cortez Jr., Manuel Cortez, Francisco Cortez and Francisco Cortez. Survivors include seven children, Joe Cortez Jr., Jesus Cortez, Guadalupe Tinajero, Felipe Cortez, Luis Cortez and Amelia Hermosillo, all of Amarillo, and Ricardo Cortez of Pahrump, Nev.; a sister, Carmen Armirez of San Antonio; 34 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. The family will visit with friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Ruth Irene Hamlin Ruth Irene Hamlin, 92, of Amarillo, died Friday, Aug. 27, 1999. She had lived in Amarillo the past 11 years. She worked in church, scouts, 4-H, taught Sunday school and sang in the church choir until she was 75. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Lorris Hamlin in 1975 and a daughter, Joan Sperte, in 1988. Survivors include a son, James Hamlin of Seattle; a daughter, Carol Hale of Amarillo; 22 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Jo Anna Brogden Jo Anna Brogden, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 1999. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mrs. Brogden was born in Merkel and moved to Amarillo in 1987 from Andrews. She was a homemaker and a Protestant. She married Malcolm "Mike" Brogden in 1977 at Andrews. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Yvonne Schrank of Minnesota; and a granddaughter. The body will be available for viewing at 10 a.m. today. Robert Carl Gray Robert Carl "Bob" Gray, 56, formerly of Amarillo, died Friday, Aug. 27, 1999. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Rector Funeral Home Chapel, 2800 S. Osage, with Gary Abramson of Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints officiating. Cremation is by Rector Funeral Home. Mr. Gray was born in Amarillo where he lived for most of his life. He was a volunteer for Coronado Kids, Inc. He was a competitive speed skater and had held a record for more than 30 years. Mr. Gray was a life member and past president of Panhandle Kennel Club. He was an American Kennel Club licensed dog show judge, served on the board of directors and was AKC delegate for the American Bullmastiff Association and was a member of Dog Judges Association of America. A member of the American Bullmastiff Association and Southwest Bullmastiff Club, he bred and owned a best in show dog among his champion bullmastiffs. Survivors include his wife Gayle; a son, David Gray of Amarillo; a brother, Jim Gray of Amarillo; a nephew, Dr. Todd Gray of Amarillo; and a grandchild. The family suggests memorials be to the SPCA. The body will not be available for viewing. Felix Castro Jr. Felix Castro Jr., 50, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 1999. She graduated from the University of Southern California and retired as an elementary teacher from the Amarillo Independent School District. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Iota and Polk Street United Methodist Church. In 1992, she moved to the Farwell Convalescence Center from Amarillo. Charles Bader officiating. Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mrs. Anthony was born in Wayne County, Tenn. She graduated from Portales High School. She had worked as the District Court Clerk in Clovis for 12 years, retiring in 1975. Prior to that, she worked for Murphy Echols Tire Co. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Business and Professional Women Association. Survivors include a sister, Kenneth Lorena; and two nieces. Peggy Burch CLOVIS, N.M. - Peggy Burch, 74, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Central Baptist Church with the Rev. Gene Hawkins officiating. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mrs. Burch was born in Stock, Essex, England, and had lived in Clovis since 1946. She was a homemaker, and a member of Central Baptist Church where she had been a Sunday school teacher and a member of the choir. Survivors include her husband, Horace; a daughter, Norma Southern of Fritch, Texas; four brothers, Gerald Owers, Bernard Owers, and George Owers, all of Essex County, England; and Viv Owers; a sister, Joyce Sutton; and two grandchildren. Mr. Landess retired from Santa Fe Railway in 1985 after 44 years. He was a charter member of Kingswood United Methodist Church, Clovis Masonic Lodge Post 40 AF&AM, the Scottish Rite Consistory 320, Ballut Abyad Shrine, Clovis Elks Lodge 1244 and American Legion Post 25. He married Bobbie Scott in 1946. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Pat Baker and Pam Zalewski, both of Clovis; and three brothers, Alvin Landess of Gulf Port, Miss., Roy Landess of Clovis, and Raymond Landess of Belen. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens by Muffley Funeral Home Inc. Mrs. Samora was born in Richardo and had lived in Clovis most of her life. She had worked as a seamstress for Levi Straus. She attended Faith Christian Family Church. Oklahoma Tola Mae Trollinger HENNESSEY, Okla. - Tola Mae Trollinger, 96, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church with Dr. Don Rogers officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Banning-Cabazon Cemetery in Banning, Calif., by Cordry-Gritz Funeral Home of Hennessey. Mrs. Trollinger was born in Keo, Ark. She was a member of the Nazarene Church where she was active in mission work. She married Dennie Hoyle Trollinger in 1920 at Gray. She was preceded in death by her husband, three sons, and a daughter. Survivors include two sons, Jack Trollinger of Amarillo and Jimmy Trollinger of Compton, Calif.; two daughters, Jean Hokit of Hennessey and Louise Peel of Menard, Texas; two brothers, Virgil Watkins of Dove Creek, Colo., and Felton Watkins of Cortez, Colo.; two sisters, Rosa Corey of Poplar Bluff, Mo., and Lois Sword of Oklahoma City; 23 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to local hospice groups. The funeral home will serve as custodian of the funds.
