Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in First Christian Church with the Rev. Jack Gindorf, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery by Stickley-Hill Funeral Directors of Canadian. Mrs. Jackson was born in Cheyenne, Okla. She graduated from Cheyenne High School and attended Southwest Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Okla. She moved to Miami in 1957. She worked for the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service and in the Roberts County District Clerk's office. She later was elected district clerk and served 32 years before retiring in 1995. She attended First Christian Church and played the piano and organ. She married Wilford Hill "Pater" Jackson in 1958. He died in 1995. Survivors include two daughters, Triska Gross of Eunice, N.M., and Tammye Maple of Pampa; two sons, William Jackson and Wade Jackson, both of Miami; and seven grandchildren. Viewing will continue until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church. The family suggests memorials be to First Christian Church or BSA Hospice. Amarillo Globe-Times, July 31, 2000 Jessie Florine Castleberry WHEELER - Jessie Florine Castleberry, 72, died Sunday, July 30, 2000, in Perryton. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Wyatt Carpenter, pastor of Emmanuel Southern Baptist Church in Liberal, Kan., officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home. Mrs. Castleberry was born in Lakeview. She attended school in Wheeler. She was baptized in Lelia Lake around 1933. She lived in Wheeler until 1972, when she moved to Pampa. She moved to Perryton in 1991. She worked for Marie Foundations and for Senior Village in Perryton. She married Willie Wallace Castleberry in 1949 at Pampa. He died in 1994. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Ann Castleberry, in 1951. Survivors include three daughters, Diana Lee Parker of Forgan, Okla., Mary Brown of Decherd, Tenn., and Patricia Vigil of Amarillo; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mr. White was born in Clarendon. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He lived in Phillips 29 years and Borger 21 years. He retired as night superintendent for Phillips Petroleum Co. He was a past member and president of Phillips Lions Club and was named Lion of the Year in 1970. He married La Nelle Reid in 1948 at Goodnight. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home. Mrs. Hayes was born in Weston and grew up in Gunter, where she attended school. She married Robert Sutton Hayes in 1931 at Grayson County. They lived in Gunter and McKinney before moving to the Plainview area in 1949. They farmed in the Edmonson and Finney Switch areas and moved to Plainview in 1960. She worked as an adult-care provider. She was a charter member of 11th and Amarillo Street Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1964; by a daughter, Reta Marcelle Hayes, in 1934; and by a son, Robert Glendon "Tiny" Hayes, in 1991. Survivors include a daughter, Melba Jean Peacock of Broomfield, Colo.; three sons, Alton Wallace Hayes of Fort Smith, Ark., Don Carroll Hayes of Plainview and Ron Hayes of Denison; a sister, Mary Dell Garner of Greenville; 17 great-grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Hibbs was born in Beaver County, Okla. She had lived in Sunray since 1957 and moved to Dumas in 1962. She was a homemaker. She was active in the Home Demonstration club, the 4-H club and community and school activities. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and a sponsor of Theta Rho. She married Lawrence "Blackie" Hibbs in 1939 at Liberal, Kan. He died in 1986. During World War II he served in the Navy. He returned to Amarillo in 1946. He went into business with Bruce Miner in 1948, and they bought Nunn Manufacturing in 1957. He was president of the company until retiring in 1975. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Amarillo, Khiva Temple Shriners, and the Amarillo Country Club. He also was a member of the Amarillo Club. He married Anne Perdue in 1936 at Pratt, Kan. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Janie Davis of Amarillo; two sisters, Jackie Shaffer of Sapulpa, Okla., and Betty Thompson of Dallas; and two grandchildren. He was an Army veteran and lived in Amarillo 48 years. He managed a tire store. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church where he assisted as Sunday school superintendent. He also served as deacon and elder. He was lifetime member of the Amarillo Bowling Association, where he served as secretary. He was a past member of the Elks Lodge and the Kiwanis Club. He married Grace Hultquist in 1947 at Kansas City, Kan. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Kathy Piedfort of Austin and Patti Couch of Appleton, Wis.; a son, Jim Kneale of Tulsa, Okla.; a brother, Robert Kneale of Independence, Mo.; and seven grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, August 1, 2000 New Mexico Malcolm D. Smithson CLAYTON, N.M. - Malcolm D. Smithson, 92, died Friday, July 28, 2000, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Boyd, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors. Mr. Smithson was born in Nocona, Texas. He had lived in Union County since 1918. He graduated from Clayton High School in 1926 and from Baylor University School of Pharmacy at Dallas in 1928. He was a pharmacist for over 50 years and owned the Smithson Drug Store in Clayton from 1936 to 1971, when he retired. He had ranched southwest of Clayton since 1942. He was named New Mexico Conservation Rancher of the Year in 1996. He served on the New Mexico State Pharmacy Board and was president of the Five States Livestock Auction in Clayton for 20 years. He was past president of the Eastern Plains Soil and Water Conservation Board, the Clayton Rotary Club, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Mr. Smithson served on the Union County General Hospital building committee and was active in the organization and construction of the Clayton Medical Office. He married DeAlva Orren in 1935. She died in 1968. He married Christine B. Secrest in 1968 at Clayton. Survivors include his wife; a stepdaughter, Carolyn Secrest Lutes of Canyon, Texas; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Mrs. Gunter was born in Leesville. She was a former school teacher and lived in Amarillo 36 years before moving to Caldwell a year ago. She was a former member of Trinity Baptist Church of Amarillo and worked in the church nursery many years. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and the First Baptist Church of Caldwell. Survivors include her husband, J.B. Gunter; three daughters, Barbara Burton of Whispering Pines, N.C., Shellie Sims of Dallas and Diane Brown of College Station; a son, Russell Gunter of North Little Rock, Ark.; seven sisters, Nancy B.
