Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Friona United Methodist Church with the Rev. Don Boren, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Friona Cemetery by Ellis-Blackwell Funeral Home. Mrs. Shelton was born in Hunt County. She moved to Friona from Floyd in 1964. She owned and operated S & R Fabrics and Nellie Janes Shoes in Friona. She had also owned a floral shop with her son, Jimmy, retiring in 1985. Mrs. Shelton was a member of the Friona United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She taught Sunday school. She also was a member of the Friona Modern study club, the hospital auxiliary and friends of the library. She married Tom Shelton in 1939 at Farmersville. She was preceded in death by a son, James Lloyd Shelton, in 1985. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Sherrie Shelton of Amarillo; a sister, Mildred Lee of Dallas; and two brothers, Herman Becknell of McKinney and Howard Becknell of Brooklyn, N.Y. Weldon Rives officiating. Burial will be in Hansford Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Mrs. Butler was born in Cheyenne, Okla. She had lived in Spearman for 49 years, moving from Clovis, N.M. She had worked as a secretary for Hansford County Extension Office and the county Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation office. Later, she worked as a legal secretary, a secretary for Excel ChevroletOlds, and as a bookkeeper for Skinner Farms. She retired in 1977. Mrs. Butler was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church. She married Earnest J. "Butch" Butler in 1949 at Wheeler. He died in 1993. Survivors include three sons, Edward J. Butler of San Angelo, Richard C. Butler of Gardendale and James G. Butler of Wilburton, Okla.; a sister, Irene Beierschmitt of Alva, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Burial will be in the Field of Honor at Westlawn Memorial Park. Mr. Wheat was born in Alma, Okla. He had lived in Borger for 49 years, moving from Stephenville. He served in the Army and was a retired warehouseman at Phillips Petroleum Co. He was a member of the Bible Baptist Church and active in the American Legion Post No. 671 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1789. Survivors include a son, John Leslie Wheat of Livingston; a daughter, Judy Faye Whitson of Kermit; and three sisters, Estelle Gilbreth of Sundown, Opal Watkins of Cortez, Colo., and Iva Hayward of Yuba City, Calif.; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Chandler was born in Traskwood, Ark., and came to west Texas in 1925. She married John H. Chandler in 1933 at Brisco County, where they lived until 1945 when they moved to Lockney. She was a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1963; and by a daughter, Betty Ruth Chandler; and by a son, Howard Dean Chandler. Survivors include a son, Johnny Chandler of Amarillo; two daughters, Jane Barnes of Dallas and June Everheart of Winona; three sisters, Vera Wood of Ruidoso, N.M., Anne Lumpkin of Amarillo and Wilma Van Meter of Hobbs, N.M.; seven brothers, Glen Cooper and Ross Cooper, both of Lockney, Dick Cooper of Bronte, Howard Cooper of Ruidoso, Jack Cooper of Pima, Ariz., Lee Cooper of Austin and Pete Cooper of Jal, N.M.; eight grandchildren; and 14 greatgrandchildren. He attended River Road schools and graduated from Caprock High School. He attended Amarillo College and was a pilot for Southwest Airlines. Survivors include his wife, Linda; two daughters, Lauren Elizabeth Lowe and Annslee Julia Lowe; his parents, Horace Neal Lowe and Helen Elizabeth Lowe, both of Amarillo; and a sister, Lisa Reid of Santa Fe, N.M. Services were at 2 p.m. June 23 in Denton-Funchess Funeral Home Chapel at Carlsbad, N.M., with the Rev. Bob Bacon of First Baptist Church in Carlsbad officiating. Burial was in Carlsbad Cemetery at Carlsbad. Mrs. Morgan was born in Denver and grew up in Harold, Vernon and Fort Worth. She lived in Carlsbad from 1947 to 1975, when she moved to Amarillo. She attended extension classes at New Mexico State University at Carlsbad and sold Tupperware and Stanley products. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of American Colonists and Rebekah Lodge No. 13. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carlsbad and Temple Baptist Church in Amarillo. She married Orbin C. Morgan in 1930 at Hollis, Okla. He died in 1974. She also was preceded in death by a son, Duane Morgan. Survivors include a son, Jim Morgan of Carlsbad; a daughter, LaNell Riddle of Amarillo; a brother, Kenneth Houtchens of Canyon; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was a pilot, a drag racer and a boat racer. He married Sue Burns in 1958 at Amarillo. Amarillo Daily News, July 1, 2000 Canyon Lillie Lee Woods Lillie Lee Woods, 94, of Canyon, died Thursday, June 29, 2000. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Dreamland Cemetery with the Rev. Kevin Deckard, pastor of Westover Methodist Fellowship Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors. Mrs. Woods was born in Fentress, Caldwell County. She moved to Hall County and grew up on the family farm near Turkey. She worked at West Texas State Teachers College in the athletic department and as dormitory director at Randall Hall, later known as McCaslin Hall. After retiring from WTSU, she worked for the YWCA. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. She married Alfred Ross Woods in 1921 at Silverton. He died in 1948. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Helen Woods Summers, in 1987; and by a son, Alfred L. "A.L." Woods, in 1995. Survivors include a son, Bennie Woods of Canyon; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. Mr. Barlow was born in Melrose. He was a farmer and rancher, and operated Barlow Trucking. He married Christine Watterson in 1943. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Beverly Hernandez of Albuquerque and Cammy Reed of Clovis; and five grandchildren. The family will be at the family home in Melrose. Amarillo Daily News, July 1, 2000 Oklahoma Harvey Fritsch WAYNOKA, Okla. - Harvey Erdise Fritsch, 83, died Saturday, June 24, 2000, in Alva. Services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. David Shaw officiating. Burial was in Memorial Hill Cemetery by Marshall Funeral Home. Mr. Fritsch was born in Woods County. He graduated from Waynoka High School. He lived and farmed northeast of Waynoka before moving to Amarillo, where he worked for the Caterpillar Co. He moved back to Waynoka in 1983. he was a member of the First Baptist Church. He married Leona Bixler in 1939 at Waynoka. She died in May. Survivors include two sons, Keith Fritsch of Yukon and David Fritsch of Mesquite, Texas; a daughter, Lanna Hatton of Warren, N.J.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
