Services will be at 1 p.m. today in Price-Jackson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Reed-Farris, minister of First United Methodist Church, and Jack Westbrook, minister of the Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in the Goodlett Cemetery. Mrs. Owen was born in Childress. Moving from Hooks, she became a longtime resident of Childress and had lived in Quanah for the last four years. She was a homemaker and a Methodist. She married Calvin Owen in 1938 at Hollis, Okla. He died in May. Survivors include a son, Joe Owen of Hewitt; and two grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the Goodlett Cemetery. Amarillo Daily News, June 1, 2000 Mary Lou VanAusdall MEMPHIS - Mary Lou Byars VanAusdall, 78, died Tuesday, May 30, 2000. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Neely Landrum, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, and Tom Anderson, minister of the Church of Christ, officiating. Arrangements are by Adams Funeral Home of Wellington. Mrs. VanAusdall was born in Memphis and was raised on the family farm northwest of Lakeview. She moved to Amarillo in the early 1940s. She had worked as a waitress for the Silver Grill Restaurant and for Coca-Cola Bottling Co. She married Donald Gene VanAusdall in 1948. They had lived in Yreka, Calif., and later returned to Amarillo. Her husband preceded her in death in 1984, and she returned to Memphis. She was a homemaker and a member of the Lakeview Methodist Church, the Fairview Cemetery Association, and the DQ coffee drinkers group. Survivors include two sons, Edwin Gene VanAusdall and Gary Don VanAusdall, both of Childress; a sister, Johnnie Sue Young of Memphis; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Fairview Cemetery Association. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Housing Authority Community Room. The body will be available for viewing 8:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Friday in the First United Methodist Church. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Lemons Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Joe P. Weldon, Baptist minister, officiating. Mr. Hunt was born in Pauls Valley, Okla. At the age of 5 he moved to Madera, Calif., where he attended school. In 1957, he moved to Plainview. He began working for Hutcherson Air Service in 1965 and then at Wal-Mart in 1992. He attended Ninth and Columbia Street Church of Christ. Mr. Hunt married Frances Clark in 1961 at Clovis, N.M. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Kevin Hunt, in 1968. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Rodney Hunt of Lockney and Rusty Hunt of Plainview; two brothers, Wesley Baker of Tucumcari, N.M., and Clyde Baker of Fresno, Calif.; four sisters, Bonnie Daniels of California, Dorothy Baze of Arkansas, Alice Willis of Missouri and Margie Potts of Oklahoma; and two grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, June 1, 2000 Raymond Ragle PLAINVIEW - Raymond Ragle, 92, died Wednesday, May 31, 2000, in Lockney. Services will be at 4 p.m. Friday in Ninth and Columbia Street Church of Christ with Kelly Newman officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. Mr. Ragle was born in Weatherford, and had lived in Santa Fe, N.M., Glorieta, N.M., and Lockney. In 1943, he moved to Plainview. He was a pilot and had worked for Hutcherson Air Service, where he also was a flight instructor and service mechanic. Mr. Ragle married Ray Hays in 1932 at Clovis, N.M. He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Ragle, in 1969. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Yvonne Sinclair of Abilene and Patsy Ragle of Midland; a sister, Bertha Smith of Mountain Air, N.M.; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Ninth and Columbia Street Church of Christ. Amarillo Daily News, June 1, 2000 Mike Walden MORTON - Mike Walden, 85, died Wednesday, May 31, 2000, in Lubbock. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Eastside Church of Christ with Silbano "John" Garcia, of Levelland, officiating. Burial will be in Morton Memorial Cemetery by Ellis Funeral Home. Mr. Walden was born in Knox County and moved to the Morton area in 1929. He served with the 300th Engineers in the Army during World War II, and received the Purple Heart. He was a farmer and a member of the Church of Christ. Mr. Walden was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and had served as commissioner in Cochran County. He married Bertha Garrett in 1940 at Levelland. She died in 1991. Survivors include two daughters, Patsy Fairchild and Reva Martinez, both of Lubbock; a brother, Gene Walden of Lindrith, N.M.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She moved to the United States in 1959 and lived in Lubbock, Lockney and Hereford. She married Bob Swayden in 1967 at Hereford and they moved to Amarillo. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and was past president of the Pharmaceutical Auxiliary. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Breece was born in Hominy, Okla. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II. He retired as a truck driver for Gensco Pipe and Steel. He was a Baptist. He married Bonnie Randall in 1955 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Henry Breece of Amarillo and Alvin E. Reynolds of Elk City, Okla.; three daughters, Wanda JoAnn Scott, Jean Earlene and June Sharlene, all of Elk City; a halfbrother, Millard C. Georgia St. Mrs. Stewart was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She was a volunteer at St. Anthony's Hospital and a member of the High Plains Baptist Auxiliary. She also was a member of the Republican National Committee. She married William Stewart in 1954 at Chicago. He died in 1987. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Hernandez was born in Casas Grandes, Mexico. He had been a resident of the Amarillo area for nine years. For most of his life he worked as a merchant and retired from a commercial paint store. He was a member of the St. Laurence Cathedral. He married Elvira Yanez in 1942 in Mexico. Mrs. Ray was born in Goree, Texas. She was a longtime resident of Clovis and had worked for Montgomery Ward. She retired to Logan 30 years ago and was active in the Senior Citizens. She married Jim B. Ray in 1931 at Clovis. He died 1994. She also was preceded in death by a son, George T. Ray; a daughter, Joann Mauldin; and an infant daughter, Billie Jo. Survivors include two sons, James T. Ray of Albuquerque and Steve Ray of Clovis; a daughter, Margie Schell of Albuquerque; two sisters, Marie Sulier of Albuquerque and Margie Faye Slovacek of San Diego; a brother, Ralph Williams of Medford, Ore.; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was a longtime member of the Church of Christ. She married Waymon "Bud" Henson in 1957 at Texico, N.M. He died in 1991. Survivors include two daughters, Louise Holland of Kress and Jolene Mauldin of Abernathy; three sisters, Marie Jones of Seymour, Elaine Tatum of Walnut Grove and Vaudine "Shorty" Lilley of Hart; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Jessie Nave, Baptist minister, officiating. Burial will be in Petersburg Cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview. Mr. Pool was born in Becton and graduated from Becton High School. He moved to the Harmoney community in 1944 and retired from farming in 1974. He served as city judge in Petersburg. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and taught Sunday school. Mr. Pool married Juanita Turner in 1937 at Lubbock. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Herschel Pool of Charlotte, N.C., and Rick Pool of Hale Center; two sisters, Bertie Bolen of Burleson and Anabell Stevens of Abernathy; and five grandchildren.
