Bennett Buford F. "Butch" Bennett, 73, of Amarillo, died Saturday, April 29, 2000. Services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, Ivy Chapel, 2820 Virginia Circle, with Gene Detton officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Bennett was born in Stillwater, Okla., and had lived in Amarillo for 50 years. He was a veteran of the Army and worked as a plumber. He was a member of the Plumbers and Steam Fitters Union and the Amarillo Senior Citizens Association. His wife, Margie Bennett, died in 1980. Survivors include a son, Ralph Bennett of Amarillo; a daughter, Sandra Bobbitt of Amarillo; three sisters, Dorothy Reichman of Stillwater, Betty Newman of Tulsa, Okla., and Jo Dean Davis of Broken Arrow, Okla.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Colonial Funeral Chapel, 1010 W. Ninth Ave., with the Rev. Rick Timmons of Central Baptist Church in Canadian officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Laurent was born in Troy, N.Y., and moved to Amarillo in 1995 from Arlington. He worked for Beverley Enterprises in nursing home administration. He was a member of Rush Creek Baptist Church in Arlington. Survivors include three daughters, Donna Palmer of Memphis, Tenn., Brandi Wagner of Lubbock, and Amber Laurent of Amarillo; a son, Charles M. Laurent Jr., of Amarillo; a sister, Doris Wills; two brothers, Robert Laurent of Troy and James Laurent of Aurora, Colo.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Ninth Ave. Mr. Jackson was born in Bonham and moved to Amarillo in 1948 from Lamesa. He worked in commercial construction and was a member of Second Baptist Church, Carpenter's Union Local No. 6651, and Promise Keepers. He married Caretha Baird in 1962 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Catherine Gail Snider of Amarillo and Joni Clydene Kuykendall of Rio Rancho, N.M.; a brother, Richard Weldon Jackson of Lubbock; and two grandchildren. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Peters was born in Detroit and lived in Albuquerque, N.M., for 13 years before moving to Amarillo in 1974. He served with the Navy and worked for Sandia National Laboratories at Pantex as an engineer. He married Patricia "Pat" Ann Harmon in 1963 at Winfield, Kan. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Matthew R. Peters and Michael J. Peters, both of Amarillo; a sister, Elizabeth Kinch of Derby, Kan.; and a grandchild. Burial will follow in the family plot at Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Farmer was born in Long View and was a longtime resident of Tucumcari. He was a farmer and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Dallas and the B.P.O. Elks Lodge No. 1172 in Tucumcari. He attended First Christian Church in Tucumcari. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; a daughter, Pene DeMore of El Paso; a brother, Garland Farmer of Diana; and two grandchildren. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Regina Bridges of Guymon; a son, Charles Bridges of Stillwater; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Memorial services were held Saturday at Bring's Funeral Home. Mr. Guy was born in Lubbock and was a 1949 graduate of Texas Tech University, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. A founder of Hughes Aircraft Co., he moved to Tucson in the early 1950s. He later joined the brokerage firms of Shearson Hammill and Prudential Securities. Survivors include his mother, Grace Guy of Amarillo; and two brothers, Dorrance H. Guy of Aledo and George M. Guy of Amarillo. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. Amarillo Daily News May 1, 2000 Roy Aaron Kuykendall LAYTON, Utah - Roy Aaron Kuykendall, 93, died Wednesday, April 26, 2000. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today in Aurora City Cemetery at Aurora. Arrangements are by Linquist's Layton Mortuary. Mr. Kuykendall was born in Seminole, Okla. He married Alma Vesta Boyd in 1930 at Lovington, N.M. She died in 1978. His granddaughter, Susan Renolds, died in 1998. Amarillo Daily News May 1, 2000 Orville Heiskell PAMPA - Orville Heiskell, 84, died Saturday, April 29, 2000. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Paul Nachtigall, pastor of Highland Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Mr. Heiskell was born in Pampa, where he was a lifetime resident. He graduated from Pampa High School and from 1968 until 1975, worked for Cabot Corp., IRI International Corp., and Lee-Tex Inc. Until his retirement, he worked for his family business, Heiskell Drilling Co., and managed its subsidiary, H&J Machine Shop. He was a member of Highland Baptist Church, where he had served as deacon and Sunday school superintendent. He was a Boy Scout troop leader. His son, Larry Orville Heiskell, died in 1999. He married Elizabeth Earp in 1940 at Pampa. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Vicki Ruth Heiskell of Pampa; a son, Teddy Lynn Heiskell of Pampa; a brother, Grover Lee Heiskell Sr., of Sun City, Ariz.; six grandchildren; and six greatgrandchildren. Amarillo Daily News May 1, 2000 Wick Brown PERRYTON - Wick Brown, 84, died Saturday, April 29, 2000. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Full Gospel Church with the Revs. Harrol Waterbury, Michael Waterbury, and Marcus Adair officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home in Perryton. Mr. Brown was born in Granby, Mo., and had lived in the area since 1946. He worked for Arthur and Veneta Townsen in a grocery store and meat market. He later worked as an independent mason and contractor until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of the Full Gospel Church, where he directed the choir, was a board member and Sunday school teacher and was superintendent. He was a member of the Perryton Kiwanis Club, where he was named Kiwanian of the Year in 1971 and served as president from 1972 until 1973. He married Maxine Johnson in 1938 at Granby. Survivors include his wife; a son, Ron Brown of Perryton; and a daughter, Kay Stamps of Perryton; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Cook, 97, died Saturday, April 29, 2000. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Morrison Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel with Mr. Randy Carder of Temple officiating. Graveside services will follow at 4:15 p.m. in Memorial Park Cemetery in Amarillo. Mrs. Cook was born in King Fisher County, Okla., and moved to Dumas in 1985 from Amarillo. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Dumas. She married Gerald D. Cook in 1923 at King Fisher County. He died in 1970. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Jane Ann Vick, in 1991; a grandson, Roy D. Giles, in 1995; and a great-grandson, Brad Giles, in 1995. Survivors include two daughters, Beth Carder and Qwen Giles, both of Dumas; a sister, Estellen Metz of Oklahoma City; eight grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
