Services were at 10 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church of Morton with the Rev. Danny Jackson, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Morton Memorial Cemetery by Ellis Funeral Home. Mrs. Dewbre was born in Fannin County and moved to Morton from Ralls in 1934. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church. She married Rilley Z. "Sonny" Dewbre in 1934 at Ralls. He died in 1987. She also was preceded in death by a son, Gerald Wayne Dewbre. Survivors include three sons, James Dewbre and Edward Dewbre, both of Morton and Donnie Dewbre of Levelland; a daughter, Doris Simpson of New Home; a brother, Leslie Reese of Palo Pinto; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Amarillo Sunday News-Globe Jan. 2, 2000 Wilburn E. Dorris PANHANDLE - Wilburn E. Dorris, 76, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Perkins officiating. Burial was in Panhandle Cemetery by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle. Mr. Dorris was born in Breckenridge and was a longtime resident of Panhandle. During World War II, he was a master sergeant in the Army with the 343rd Infantry Black Hawk division in Germany and the Philippines. He also served in the Korean War. Mr. Dorris was a lieutenant in the Civil Air Patrol in Borger and sang with the Four Sixes Gospel Quartet. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and Carson Masonic Lodge. In 1983, he retired after 36 years as a supervisor with Phillips Petroleum. He married Katie Arp in 1944 at Alexandria, La. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Gaylynn Dorris Russ and Susan Dorris Russ, both of Panhandle; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. King FRITCH - Kenneth W. "K.W." King, 81, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999. Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Darrell Trout officiating. Burial was in Eastlawn Garden in Highland Park Cemetery by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors of Fritch. Mr. King was born in Durant, Okla., and had lived in the Borger-Fritch area since 1951. During World War II, he served in the Army in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater for 13 months. Mr. King retired as a field operator for Phillips Petroleum Co. He was a member of the First Assembly of God, the Adobe Walls Masonic Lodge and the International Union of Operating Engineers Local Union No. 351. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Reda King, in October. Mr. Hammontree was born in Quinton, Okla., and had been a Dumas resident since 1951. He retired from American Zinc and had also worked for North Plains Research for 10 years. She was a homemaker. She had been a member of the Booker Friend Church, a member of the Women's Missionary Union and taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School. She was an auxiliary volunteer at Twin Oaks. She married Wayne "Buck" Howard in 1941 at Booker. He died in 1989. She also was preceded in death by a son, Wendell Dale Field, in 1952. She was a charter member of the Gladiola Flower Club and was active with both the Girl and Boy Scouts of America. She married Marcus Larson in 1946 at Amarillo. He died in 1996. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Memory Gardens at Pampa by Baumgardner Funeral Home of Fort Worth. Mr. Morton was born in Cryer Creek and was a mechanic for J.M. Hubert Corporation. He was a former resident of Stinnett and the surrounding areas. From 1954 until 1973, he served on the Stinnett and Pringle School Board. He was a member of Stinnett United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge. In 1991, he moved to the Pampa area from Amarillo. He was also a member of the Saginaw United Methodist Church. He moved to Casper in 1950. He worked for Mountain State Telephone which later became US West Telephone, retiring in 1982 after 33 years. He was a past president of the Telephone Pioneers of America. During his year as president, the volunteer program, Lifeline, was started at Wyoming Medical Center. In 1994, he was awarded a lifetime membership to the Casper Men's Golf League. He delivered Meals on Wheels. He was a member of the International Order of the Odd Fellows and in 1971 received the declaration of chivalry, the highest honor awarded to an Odd Fellow. He married Jean Hewett in 1948 at Pampa. In 1957, they moved to Petersburg, where she was secretary and bookkeeper at Allmon Cotton & Grain, which they co-owned and operated. Her husband died in 1978. She was also preceded in death by a son, Bob Pearson, in 1991.
