Mrs. Shelton was born in Hunt County. She moved to Friona from Floyd in 1964. She owned and operated S & R Fabrics and Nellie Janes Shoes in Friona. She had also owned a floral shop with her son, Jimmy, retiring in 1985. Mrs. Shelton was a member of the Friona United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She taught Sunday school. She also was a member of the Friona Modern study club, the hospital auxiliary and friends of the library. She married Tom Shelton in 1939 at Farmersville. She was preceded in death by a son, James Lloyd Shelton, in 1985. Weldon Rives officiating. Burial was in Hansford Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Mrs. Butler was born in Cheyenne, Okla. Forty-nine years ago, she moved to Spearman from Clovis, N.M. She had worked as a secretary for Hansford County Extension Office and the county Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation office. Later, she worked as a legal secretary, a secretary for Excel ChevroletOlds, and as a bookkeeper for Skinner Farms. She retired in 1977. Mrs. Butler was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church. She married Earnest J. "Butch" Butler in 1949 at Wheeler. He died in 1993. Survivors include three sons, Edward J. Butler of San Angelo, Richard C. Butler of Gardendale and James G. Butler of Wilburton, Okla.; a sister, Irene Beierschmitt of Alva, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was a past officer and secretary in Order of Eastern Star in Floyd County and Corsicana. She married Roach Perry in 1959 at Lockney. He preceded her in death. She received a bachelor's of art degree from Mary Hardin-Baylor University and a master's of art degree from West Texas State University. She taught private piano lessons and music in the public school systems in Panhandle and Amarillo. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Panhandle, where she was the pianist and organist. Mrs. Smith received the Freedom Foundation Award for composing, the Distinguished Women's Forum Service Award in education, the 1988-1989 Veterans of Foreign War State Teacher of the Year Award and the Mary Hardin-Baylor/Gilewicz Hall of Fame Award. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Texas State Teacher's Association. She married Douglas M. Smith in 1946 at Panhandle. Survivors include her husband; two sons, William D. Smith of Borger and David Smith of Pinnacle, N.C.; two sisters, Dorothy Broadway and Billie Ray Williams, both of Panhandle; and two grandchildren. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of American Colonists and Rebekah Lodge No. 13. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carlsbad and Temple Baptist Church in Amarillo. She married Orbin C. Morgan in 1930 at Hollis, Okla. He died in 1974. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors. Mrs. Woods was born in Fentress, Caldwell County. She moved to Hall County and grew up on the family farm near Turkey. She worked at West Texas State Teachers College in the athletic department and as dormitory director at Randall Hall, later known as McCaslin Hall. After retiring from WTSU, she worked for the YWCA. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. She married Alfred Ross Woods in 1921 at Silverton. He died in 1948. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Helen Woods Summers, in 1987; and by a son, Alfred L. "A.L." Woods, in 1995. Amarillo Sunday News-Globe July 2, 2000 Oklahoma Harvey Fritsch WAYNOKA, Okla. - Harvey Erdise Fritsch, 83, died Saturday, June 24, 2000, in Alva. Services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. David Shaw officiating. Burial was in Memorial Hill Cemetery by Marshall Funeral Home. Mr. Fritsch was born in Woods County. He graduated from Waynoka High School. He lived and farmed northeast of Waynoka before moving to Amarillo, where he worked for the Caterpillar Co. He moved back to Waynoka in 1983. he was a member of the First Baptist Church. He married Leona Bixler in 1939 at Waynoka. She died in May. Survivors include two sons, Keith Fritsch of Yukon and David Fritsch of Mesquite, Texas; a daughter, Lanna Hatton of Warren, N.J.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
